[Overview]

Scraggy boasts a great Attack stat, decent Speed, excellent defenses with an equipped Eviolite, and fantastic boosting moves in Dragon Dance and Bulk Up. With amazing abilities that allow it to set-up or sweep along with its excellent coverage in its STAB moves alone, Scraggy is definitely one of the most threatening Pokemon in Little Cup. The only thing holding Scraggy back is its Speed stat; however, after a single Dragon Dance, Scraggy hits 22 Speed, easily outspeeding every Pokemon without a Choice Scarf. With these weapons at its disposal, Scraggy is the titan of Little Cup, able to tear through teams without designated checks effortlessly.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Drain Punch
move 3: Crunch
move 4: Hi Jump Kick
item: Eviolite
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This is easily Scraggy's most threatening set and is what makes it so devastating. Scraggy's Dark- and Fighting-type STABs provide near perfect coverage in Little Cup, missing out only on Croagunk for neutral damage. This already great coverage means that Scraggy can afford to run both Drain Punch and Hi Jump Kick on the same set. Drain Punch allows it to recover some lost HP, while Hi Jump Kick is a ridiculously powerful STAB move. Crunch rounds off its coverage and allows it to take on Pokemon that resist Fighting-type moves, such as Slowpoke or Mantyke. With a Jolly nature and the given Attack investment, Scraggy is able to hit 25 Attack after a single Dragon Dance. With that monstrous Attack stat and a 130 base power move (with STAB) at its disposal, Scraggy is able to OHKO a 21 HP/18 Def Mienfoo equipped with an Eviolite most of the time. With an Adamant nature, Scraggy hits 27 attack at +1, and has an easier time OHKOing the same Mienfoo, while also hitting other Pokemon just that much harder. Scraggy has a choice between its two abilities; Shed Skin allows Scraggy to fearlessly set up in the face of Will-O-Wisp and other forms of status, while Moxie allows Scraggy to continually gain Attack boosts after KOing something, making it harder to deal with as time goes on.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Because Scraggy forces so many switches, entry hazard support is ideal for turning many 2HKOes into OHKOes. Also, instead of Eviolite, Scraggy can be equipped with a Life Orb if the increased damage output is appealing. However, this is generally not preferred as the Eviolite gives Scraggy a significant boost to its defenses, allowing it to set up with ease. Likewise, Hi Jump Kick can be replaced with a variety of moves, depending on your team's needs. Instead, Zen Headbutt can be used to hit Croagunk for super effective damage. Outside of that, however, there is no need for it because a STAB Hi Jump Kick hits harder than a super effective Zen Headbutt. Head Smash could also be used as well, as Bug-type Pokemon such as Shelmet give this set a hard time. At +1, Head Smash will be able to OHKO Shelmet after Stealth Rock or without it if an Adamant nature is being used. Likewise, it hits Flying-type Pokemon such as Ducklett for super effective damage. Taunt can be used to prevent opposing Pokemon from setting up or from trying to remove your own boosts. Finally, Scraggy has access to the elemental punches, though they don't help its coverage.

Unfortunately for Scraggy, it cannot just switch in, Dragon Dance, and expect to sweep right away. Because of the capabilities of this set, many teams run a variety of checks for Scraggy. Choice Scarfed Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Choice Scarfed Flying-type Pokemon such as Taillow offer an immediate threat for Scraggy, as they are able to outspeed max Speed +1 Scraggy and OHKO it with their respective STAB super effective attack. Cottonee, however, can switch in on the Dragon Dance and trap Scraggy with a priority Encore, locking it into the move it last used. Because Scraggy is initially somewhat slow, any faster Pokemon with a super effective attack can threaten Scraggy as well. Chinchou is a good partner for Scraggy as it resists Flying-type attacks and can threaten those Pokemon with a super effective STAB Thunderbolt. Likewise, Ghost-type Pokemon such as Gastly make good switch-ins for threatening Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mienfoo. Finally, your own Cottonee can provide set-up opportunities for Scraggy with its priority Encore.

[SET]
name: Scarf
move 1: Hi Jump Kick
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Drain Punch
move 4: Head Smash / Zen Headbutt
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Moxie
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 236 Att / 216 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Scraggy is also very threatening with a Choice Scarf equipped. Hitting 22 Speed with it, Scraggy is able to outspeed every unboosted Pokemon in the metagame. With its excellent 17 Attack, Scraggy can abuse this speed quite well. Hi Jump Kick is the primary move, as it does massive damage to any Pokemon that does not resist it. Crunch is for secondary STAB while hitting Psychic-type and Ghost-type Pokemon such as Slowbro and Gastly for super effective damage. Drain Punch allows Scraggy to pick off wounded enemies and regain HP in the process. The final moveslot is up to preference. Head Smash allows Scraggy to 2HKO Shelmet and to hit other Bug and Flying-type Pokemon for super effective damage. However, Zen Headbutt can be used as well, since Croagunk resists Dark/Fighting. Still, Head Smash is the preferred option, as Croagunk is only a single Pokemon. Moxie is the preferred ability as it allows Scraggy to frequently pull off an end-game sweep.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread gives Scraggy the maximum possible Attack and Speed, while Jolly boosts its Speed even more. Shed Skin can be used instead of Moxie since being paralyzed or burned really causes this set problems. However, Moxie is the preferred ability due to this set being unable to boost on its own.

Faster Choice Scarfed Pokemon such as Mienfoo or Taillow give this set problems, and can immediately threaten it. Because it is Choice-locked, it is much more difficult to sweep with this set than it is to sweep with the Dragon Dance set. Likewise, even though it is your most powerful STAB option, be careful when locking yourself into Hi Jump Kick. Ghost-type Pokemon cause you to hurt yourself from crash damage, so it is imperative that they are eliminated before you lock yourself into Hi Jump Kick. Chinchou makes a good partner, as it can take care of Flying-type Pokemon, while Ghost-type Pokemon handle the Fighting-types that give Scraggy problems.

[Other Options]

Scraggy has access to Bulk Up and can run an effective defensive set with it. However, this set is generally outclassed by its Dragon Dance set due to Scraggy's low speed. Likewise, Scraggy has access to Dragon Tail and Roar, making it an effective phazer when taking into account Scraggy's natural ability to force switches. Finally, Scraggy has access to the elemental punches, but they aren't necessary as a STAB Hi Jump Kick hits harder than a super effective elemental punch.

[Checks and Counters]

There are a variety of Pokemon that give Scraggy a difficult time. The most effective checks to it are Choice Scarfed Fighting- and Flying-type Pokemon such as Mienfoo, Doduo, and Taillow. They are able to outspeed Scraggy at +1 and can threaten it with their STAB super effective attacks. Likewise, Koffing, Grimer, and Croagunk make for excellent Scraggy checks. Being Poison-type Pokemon, they all resist Fighting-type attacks, while Croagunk also resists Dark-type attacks. Koffing and Grimer are able to use Clear Smog to clear Scraggy's boosts, while Croagunk immediately threatens it with its STAB Fighting-type attacks. Shelmet, being a Bug-type with high defenses, can completely wall Scraggy that lack Head Smash or Taunt. Finally, since Scraggy is relatively slow, any faster Pokemon can threaten it before it has amassed enough boosts.

[Dreamworld]

Scraggy receives Intimidate from the Dream World. While this is an excellent ability on Scraggy that allows allow it to switch into opposing physical attackers significantly easier, it is generally outclassed by Scraggy's other amazing abilities, as they allow Scraggy to set up for a sweep much more efficiently.

After talking on IRC with Crux, we think the ShedRest set should be taken out. It's more of a poor man's Dragon Dance set, it doesn't beat any counters to the main set, nor does it more significantly ease a sweep.

Hm... Not so sure if the EVs are correct on the first set I always thought that it was 36 HP / 156 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 212 Spe but maybe I'm just out of the loop.

Mention ghost type teammates to beat HJK

Where's counters and oo? You said that this is qc ready according to the title

Chinchou is a good teammate since it beats scarf taillow

The EVs are fine, these are more effective now. Mienfoo's changed too for this meta.

Agreeing on Chinchou, Ghost-types (Gastly is awesome, and Frillish is bulky if you're into that), and taking out ShedRest. I'm not sure why I'd ever use ShedRest with almost every team running multiple Scraggy checks.

Changes implemented and Bulk Up removed.

Sorry, I derped comatt. Copy/Paste malfunction from my original document.

On the Scarf set...

Chinchou and other Ghost-type Pokemon make good teammates

Chinchou isn't a Ghost type... Make sure to separate Chinchou and Ghost-types when you write this up to avoid confusion.

Also mention Grimer and Koffing in checks and counters because they resist Fighting and have ways to stop Scraggy from boosting past it (Koffing has Clear Smog, Grimer has Acid Armor).

Once that's in...

[QC 1/2]

- Counter is a gimmick (big gimmick) but can be used to surprise KO Mienfoo and Timburr and whatnot
- elemental punches should also be OO, especially ThunderPunch for Mantyke (and Clamperl, for a more accurate attack than HJK though at reduced power)

for the ddance set, if both abilities are viable and equally useful (which they are) remove the ability tag. that or remove the moxie slash

take "ability: Shed Skin / Moxie" out from the first set
change "evs: 36 HP / 236 Att/ 216 Spe" on the second set to "evs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 216 Spe"
[Overview], [Other Options], [Checks and Counters], and [Dream World] should be written how I typed them
other than that, good job

QC Approved: 2/2

after you implement everything in Charmander's post.

edit: lol, I'm the 1/2 stamp 99% of the time. I've gotten use to that!

Thanks for the check, Eternal. I implemented most of the changes but left out a few I strongly disagreed with.

I didn't include the change for 195 base power move to 130 base power move (along with STAB) as I didn't like making it wordier nor did I think anybody using the Pokemon would have an issue understanding that.

I did not change the sentence regarding the elemental punches in the AC of the first set because coverages made 0 sense to me. The elemental punches do not help its coverage. Help with its coverages seemed weird to me, and I feel like coverage works as a plural.

I did not change "with a Choice Scarf equipped" to "an equipped Choice Scarf" because I did not see the need to change the order of the sentences like that. This is just a preference thing, but I hate writing things like that.

If other users want me to implement these changes, I'd do so. Thank you again for the check, Eternal, and I still need one more GP to mark this as done!

Regardless of STAB, Hi Jump Kick has 130 base power. That's like saying super effective Hi Jump Kick has 260 base power; it doesn't. Base power never changes regardless of STAB, STAB is just a modifier to its power (not base power), which affects the final damage output.
tl;dr STAB doesn't change base power

edit: also before you do don't say 195 power; it varies based on the super effective modifier. Just say Hi Jump Kick is very threatening or something

I wasn't going to say 195 power move because that's stupid. I agree with what you said, though, and incorporated Eternal's edit in regards to that.

Could I get a second GP, please?

With these weapons at its disposal, Scraggy is the titan of Little Cup, able to tear through teams without designated checks effortlessly.

move 3: Crunch
move 4: Hi Jump Kick
item: Eviolite
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This is easily Scraggy's most threatening set and is what makes it so devastating. Scraggy's Dark- and Fighting-type Dark/Fighting STABs provide near perfect coverage in Little Cup, missing out only on Croagunk for neutral damage. This already-great coverage means that Accordingly, Scraggy can afford to run both Drain Punch and Hi Jump Kick on the same set. With that monstrous Attack stat and a 130 base power move (with STAB) at its disposal, Scraggy is able to, on average, OHKO a 21 HP/18 Def Mienfoo equipped with an Eviolite most of the time.

Still, Although, Head Smash is the preferred option, as Croagunk is only a single Pokemon.

Ghost-type Pokemon cause you to hurt yourself from crash damage, so it is imperative that they are eliminated before you lock yourself into Hi Jump Kick it.

The most effective checks to it are Choice Scarfed Fighting- (<-add the hyphen) and Flying-type Pokemon such as Mienfoo, Doduo, and Taillow. Shelmet, being a Bug-type with high defenses by nature of its Bug type and its high defenses, can completely wall Scraggy that lack Head Smash or Taunt.

Great job!
