Lucario

lucario are a cool pok

Single sets:

Swords Dance

@ Life Orb
Adamant/Jolly nature
Steadfast
6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Swords Dance
Close Combat/Hi Jump Kick
Extremespeed
Crunch/Ice Punch

  • Similar to the old standard of DP; if you're using Singles Lucario, the first set you look into is Swords Dance
  • Works best late game or when the Pokemon on your opponents side are in KO range, which probably has to be done manually unless for some reason you're using Stealth Rock
  • The choice between Crunch and Ice Punch depends on what your team needs covered or if you're afraid of Gliscor
  • Fight Gem can be used as doesn't cut into Lucario's HP supply and frees up Life Orb for another member; also makes Close Combat or Hi Jump Kick more deadly
  • Adamant is the preferred nature, but if you need more speed use Jolly
NP set

um choice sets? is agility that good?

Doubles sets

Strait-up attacking (Physical)

@ Life Orb
Adamant Nature
Inner Focus
6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

Close Combat
Extremespeed
Crunch/Ice Punch/Rock Slide
Detect/Quick Guard

  • Works like Singles sets without setup, since Lucario doesn't have time for boosting most of the time
  • Quick Guard makes Lucario a good anti-Fake Out lead, but otherwise Detect is better for keeping Lucario away from Mach Punch and other problematic attacks
  • Crunch goes well with Quick Guard to help take on Trick Room, as most Trick Room setters are weak to Dark
  • Ice Punch hits Thundurus and Tornadus hard, and provides good coverage overall
  • Rock Slide is a go-to spread move if you need it
Strait-up attacking (Special)

@ Life Orb/Fight Gem
Modest Nature
Inner Focus
6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Aura Sphere
Vacuum Wave
Shadow Ball/Hidden Power Ice/Dark Pulse
Detect/Quick Guard

  • Works like the previous set, only specially-inclined
  • Fight Gem is a very viable option here, as it makes Vacuum Wave a bit more powerful which is useful for picking off Pokemon in the lower yellow
  • Shadow Ball and Dark Pulse are very similar, only Dark Pulse has the more desirable effect of flinch
  • Hidden Power Ice is there for coverage
  • Like most Pokemon, Lucario enjoys Tailwind support
Offensive Support

@ Sitrus Berry
Careful Nature
Inner Focus
244 HP/252 SpD/12 Spe

Follow Me
Low Sweep/Drain Punch
Extremespeed
Quick Guard/Detect

  • Unlike other support Pokemon, Lucario has the surprise factor and access to powerful priority in Extremespeed
  • Follow Me works well with Lucario's numerous resistances
  • Low Sweep is a more supportive move, lowering the opponent's Speed, but Drain Punch keeps Lucario healthy and able to use Follow Me a few more times
  • Quick Guard is the main option as the set is supportive, but you may want to opt for Detect if you don't need Quick Guard support
  • The EVs make Lucario as bulky as possible on the special side, which is where you want to be able to take hits, as you're most likely using Lucario to take Grass, Dragon or Ice moves. If you're not using support Lucario to take said moves and you're not planning on abusing Extremespeed, you might as well use a different Follow Me Pokemon.
  • Have a Pokemon ready to take out Ghost types, as they wall this set completely. An alternative is to use Crunch over the two Protection moves, but this is not recommended.

somewhat of a wip, feel free to comment

The most common Lucario set I've encountered in Singles is:

Lucario @ Focus Sash
Adamant/Naughty/Jolly/Naive
- Close Combat
- ExtremeSpeed
- Crunch
- Ice Punch / Hidden Power [Ice]

With access to priority, a strong STAB, Sandstorm immunity, Fake Out flinch immunity, and great coverage, Lucario is probably one of the best Sashers out there. As long as its Sash is intact, it can quickly eliminate most of its regular checks such as Gliscor and Garchomp (beware of Yache). ExtremeSpeed's +2 priority also helps a lot against stuff like Sash Terrakion Quick Attack and Weavile's Ice Shard, both of which can otherwise pick off a weakened Lucario. Ice Punch vs HP Ice is a matter of splitting offensive EVs vs OHKOing Gliscor and not being picked off by Iron Barbs (lol).
