Uxie QC:[0/3]

QC: [0/3]

[Overview]
• Do not judge by appearance, Uxie has 75/130/130 Defenses
• Great Speed stat for a defensive Pokemon
• Wide range of available moves, including and not limited to Yawn, Thunder Wave, Trick, and field effect support moves.
• One of the only Pokemon that has access to Dual Screen + Memento, which basically reduces the opponent to -6 on both Attack stats
• Cresselia gone is great since it lost competition
• Only recovery is Leftovers
• Vulnerable to Taunt

[SET]
name: Dual Screen
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Memento / U-turn
move 4: Yawn / U- Turn
items: Light Clay
nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
• Immense bulk to help setting up Dual Screens
• Leaves opponent equivalent to -6 on both offenses, allowing a frail sweeper to easily set up
• Memento is what sets it apart from other Dual Screeners, so it is highly recommended
• U-turn lets you switch out without having to die
• Yawn gives opportunity to have a chance to set-up even when Uxie is low on health

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
- Leftovers may be used, since you are relying on that one turn of set-up to win.
- Must have set-up sweepers in team. Notable team mates include Crawdaunt, Durant, Kabutops (rain only), Omastar.
- If U-turn is not used, a Calm nature may be used if you are particular about Confusion damage

[SET]
name: Support
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Thunder Wave / Yawn
move 4: Heal Bell / Knock Off
item: Leftovers
nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
• Natural bulk make it a great supporter
• Great support movepool
• Lack of recovery sucks
• Few Pokemon that has Stealth Rock this gen
• Thunder Wave and Yawn each have their own niche
• Knock Off cripples Gligar and other item dependent Pokemon

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

[Other Options]
- Field effect supporter, U-turn with a Sassy nature lets it tank a hit before going to a fail sweeper.
- Trick Scarf, combined with Yawn/thunder Wave to effectively take out at 2 or more of your opponent’s Pokemon
- Calm Mind is usable but requires many turns to pose a threat and has a lack of reliable recovery
- Toxic may be used but it should be left for something with reliable recovery

[Checks and Counters]
- Taunt
- Substitute users can easily set up on Uxie, and potentially wiping out his team
- Strong Super effective attackers will eventually take it down due to not having reliable recovery

I would say that since the RU tier is predominantly specially oriented, a spread of 252 Hp/4 Def/252 SDef w/Careful would be best. Also, since U-Turn is only a secondary option on your Dual Screens set, I would say that you should put Calm in a slash over Careful, as it reduces confusion damage, rare as it is.

I've been running a tank spread for awhile and it does really well for me. Basically the only Uxie I run now. It does significant damage to weaker stuff (2hkos Rotom) and is more efficient than trying to do a similar stat layout with Mesprit.

Uxie @ Leftovers
252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpA, Bold
Stealth Rock
Psychic
Thunder Wave / Thunderbolt
Heal Bell

It's a cool way to provide all kinds of support for an offensive team without letting all kinds of things set up Substitute on you. Also, in terms of stats, you're getting a bigger % increase to your SpA than % decrease to your defense when compared to the usual spread.

Bar heal bell, slowking pretty much outclasses it with recover and better coverage

...wut?

So the better overall bulk, higher speed, method of scouting in U-Turn, ability to set SR, etc., they all don't qualify him as anything more than a lesser Slowking?

No knock off? It is great on things that carry items. Which is everything. It Dan Evolite users almost useless

EDIT: Never Mind I saw, néed to read better

So the better overall bulk, Heal Bell, and ability to set up SR (and Levitate) don't qualify him as anything more than a lesser Slowking?

Think about what you post, instead of just looking for things to shoot down because they aren't the norm.

@ below: I've used this extensively and had peaked #1 with a team that used it (and a different team using it in the top ten). Hopefully that carries more weight than your concerns that it "doesn't hit hard enough" and your blatantly false assertion that it isn't as bulky as rotom-A (who also lacks the two best support options on the set). You are definitely missing the point of the set if you keep comparing it to things that don't offer an assload of support. The point is that it does most of what the support set does while also being able to hit back surprisingly well.

My bad about comparing it to Slowking. What I mean is that it does not deserve more than OO mention since it just doesn't work as well as other tanks, due to the lack of coverage it has with Psychic and Thunderbolt, and its lack of power. Even with full investment it has less SpA than an uninvested Rotom-A, which also has Levitate and slightly better bulk.

So not to be a troll or anything but SubCM Uxie is also an excellent late-game cleaner. I can post the set if you like (I tested this as well).

Edit: well I see CM is in the OO. If qc wants I can make a case for it being a worthy set. I'll even stop pestering you about the other one.

SubCM should be there.

[SET]
name: SubCM
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Psychic
move 4: Thunderbolt
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 96 HP / 188 SpA / 224 Spe

The EVs I copied over from 4th gen and they've been working for me. Scoopapa if you want to post your EV spread that'd be awesome. This is supposedly what the EVs above do: "The HP EVs provide Uxie with enough bulk to switch into Moltres's Fire Blast, use Calm Mind, and not be 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. The heavy Speed investment allows Uxie to outspeed Timid Rotom, while the rest are placed into Special Attack to power up Uxie's offenses."

Anyway, this should be there.

I'd also be tempted to add a Weather Supporter set.

[SET]
name: Weather Support
move 1: Sunny Day / Rain Dance
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Psychic / Heal Bell
item: Heat Rock / Damp Rock
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

Haven't tested it myself, but I imagine that's close to what people are running. If someone would care to input here that'd be awesome.

I'm having exam these few days, will put up after exam is over.

My only change on the SubCM set was 8 EV's out of SpA in order to outspeed Jolly Krookodile. It's usually scarfed but if you switch in on a predicted Earthquake and see bulk up instead it's nice to outspeed. Of course, it only matters if you're running coverage that can hit him. I ran Giga Drain, but Signal Beam is probably viable, too, for hitting Darks and Psychics. The proper coverage moves to use (and the slashes) probably warrants some discussion now that it's a new gen. I thought the healing from Giga Drain was pretty helpful, particularly when it came to dealing with Sharpedo.
