DC: 3/5

Abilities:

Dry Skin: (Innate) This Pokemon has spongy, yet sensitive skin, causing it to burn in bright sunlight for damage but absorb water and heal damaged tissues in rain. This effect results in dealing 2 damage/action to this Pokemon in sunlight and recovering 2 HP/action in rain. It also makes the Pokemon weak to fire, but it absorbs the damage of water attacks and recovers HP when struck instead.

Effect Spore: (Can be Disabled) This Pokemon has a stockpile of defensive spores which it realeases on opponents who strike with contact attacks. There is a 10% chance each of poison, paralysis, and sleep. When disabled, the Pokemon's Powder attacks are 10% more accurate.

Damp (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon releases a damp mist upon entry into battle that short circuits the opponent’s ability to use Selfdestruct or Explosion.

Smeargle (Useless) (M)
Nature: Nature: Timid (Multiplies base Speed by 1.15 and provides a flat accuracy boost on all attacks equal to its new Base Speed squared, then divided based on its evolution stage. [+9% Acc.], subtracts one (1) Rank from Attack.)
Type: Normal

Normal: Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.

Abilities:
Own Tempo: (Innate) This Pokemon moves at its own pace and when confused, it will never harm itself in confusion. If the Pokemon also has Tangled Feet, it will raise Accuracy by one (1) Stage.

Technician: (Innate) This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects.

Moody (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon’s body is solidly constructed, reducing the Base Attack Power from an opponents incoming attacks by one (1). The effect is amplified on OHKO Moves, which are reduced by ten (10) Base Attack Power.

Welcome to another excellent ASB battle! I'm Roman the Gallade, and I'm joined today by my friend and teammate, Gary the Pyroak.

Good to be here today, Roman. This battle between returning superstar Darkamber8828 and relative newcomer TheWolfe has the makings of a classic. I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Neither would I, Gary. Let's get sta--wait a second, what is Amber's Smeargle doing?

He's--painting! Doesn't he know that there's a battle going on?

Wait, I know what he's doing! He's taking advantage of this arena's special rules and is using his Sketch technique to learn more moves for later battles! Nice forward thinking.

He's painting something that looks like a barrier--and it looks like Smeargle's teammate Leeps is modeling for him! Smeargle now knows Protect!

Now he's asking Wolfe's Combusken, Roy, to help him out! It looks like he's demonstrating his Substitute, and Smeargle loves it! Smeargle Sketched Substitute! Ow...I think my tongue's tied...

And it's back to Leeps, who showers a large amount of Spores in the area! Seems like a difficult thing to Sketch all that powder, but Not-so-Useless does it perfectly, and has now learned Spore!

Well, that was certainly a boring first round, although Smeargle appears to have enjoyed it. Hopefully by next round we'll have a more interesting fight...

Darkamber, you're up. And try to make it interesting this time, would you?

ALL RIGHT THEN LET'S DO THIS

Useless, Spore (Combusken) ~ Toxic (Combusken) ~ Spore (Larvitar). If Conbusken uses Substitute, Snatch it.

Parasect, lay down the hurt. Bullet Seed (Larvitar) ~ Leech Seed (Combusken) ~ Bullet Seed (Larvitar) If Larvitar Protects while you're targeting him with an attack, Substitute the first time and Stun Spore Combusken the next time.

Interesting enough for you, Galladiator? TEAMWORK WILL OVERCOME THE GOD DAMN FRIED CHICKEN

Hey! My Combusken is no fried chicken! D:< And I just noticed I completely forgot to equip the Amulet Coin. Nooooooooooooooooooo.

Also speaking of Combusken, he's supposed to get a Speed Boost up, putting him at 96 Speed.

Roy, Bounce away to dodge that Spore and land on top of that Parasect! Wrap a protective Fire Spin around yourself to burn out the incoming Leech Seed (and possibly even Toxic if the flames can nullify the poisons). Make sure to only release the hold after that action so you don't trap yourself in your own attack. Finish by cooking that Parasect with a Flamethrower!

Bounce @Parasect ~ Fire Spin (Around yourself; last only this action) ~ Flamethrower @Parasect

Azazel, unleash your deadly Rock Slides upon both your foes twice! Protect against the Spore; we can deal with the Substitute later.

Rock Slide ~ Rock Slide ~ Protect

I just realized I had forgotten all about this. And now I won't be able to ref this until Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. I'm very sorry about all this; feel free to find another ref if you can't wait for me. Again, I'm extremely sorry about this.

hey hey thewolfe wanna d/q this right now and get practically free counters for no effort

wait no there has to be at least two round reffed iirc

damn

uh, I guess we'll wait?

Okay, um...I have some bad news. Events have conspired to keep my activity down to just what I can do on my phone for the next few weeks, so I'm afraid I can't ref this battle any further. I apologize sincerely, and I hope I can be able to ref some of your future battles.

Okay.

This would be a good time to say

WOLFE PLEASE LET ME REDO MY ACTIONS

I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT SPEED BOOST

It wasn't even in the reffing.

C'mon. Be a pal. Or I'll hax you over in the 2-3 battles I'm reffing with you in them. Pleeeeease?

Subreffing

Because no attacks took effect first turn other than Sketch (which was agreed upon by both players), I'm going to void the Speed Boost from first turn, why should Combusken get a free speed boost for absolutely nothing.

So, due to that, Smeargle begins the second (really first) round with a discharge of spores aimed at Combusken, putting it into a light sleep. Parasect fires three bullet seeds at Larvitar, who retaliates with by causing a Rock Slide hitting Smeargle and Parasect.

Smeargle then shoots a deadly toxin at Combusken, poisoning it badly. Combusken sets up a barrier of fire spinning around it to block Parasect's Leech Seed. Larvitar makes more rocks fall on Amber's Pokemon.

Larvitar protects itself from Smeargle's Spore. Combusken's wall of fire wears off and it shoots a flamethrower at Parasect, causing big damage due to the bug's Dry Skin. Parasect sets up a substitute to buffer some of the damage done next round.

At the end of the round, Combusken decides to use a small portion of its Energy to boost its speed.

Wolfe, choose your actions

Actually, Maxim posted earlier in the Battle Tower he was going to subref. But since you beat him to the punch, it's a moot point.

Also, Combusken still deserved a Speed Boost for the same reason Smeargle gained three free moves via Sketch. Regardless, it doesn't matter too much. At least Amber won't have an incentive to hax me now. Bwahahaha. :P

Oh wait, where was I?

Roy: Flamethrower @Parasect ~ Rock Slide ~ Flamethrower @Parasect
Sub: If either foe attacks with Spore, dodge with Bounce and hit Parasect.

Azazel: Rock Slide ~ Brick Break @Smeargle ~ Rock Slide

Okay, we're getting the kill on Larvitar.

BULLET SEED PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Parasect: BULLET SEED SPAM LARVITAR
Smeargle, NIGHT SHADE SPAM LARVITAR, AND IF IT ISN'T ASLEEP AT ANY POINT, SPORE LARVITAR

I think Amber wishes she'd copied Bullet Seed right about now

Combusken Focuses
Smeargle puts some shades on and hits Larvitar... At night...
Larvitar is still asleep
Combusken lands a Focus Punch which does epic damage to Smeargle

Combusken charges again
Smeargle puts another pair of shades on and hits Larvitar at dawn
Larvitar breaks Smeargle's blocks
Combusken totally owns it with another Focus Punch, KOing Smeargle

TheWolfe WINS!

Focus Punch: (15 + 3 + 1.5) * 1.5 = 29.25 DMG
Brick Break: (8 + 1.5) * 1.5 = 14.25 DMG
Night Shade: STILL 10 until Deck decides he wants to change it
