welcome to a battle of artists! hmm? oh, its a pokemon battle? right, I knew that.... Ok we have Darkamber on one side and a box on the other. Wait, the guy's name is Box? ok then, Box on the other. (Remind me to fire whoever gives me my information). All right back to the battle, rules are:

2v2 training battle.
2 day DQ
2 recovery/5 chill.
No items
One ability
Switch? how can you switch in a 2v2 double?
Also: All moves in the first round have no effect except for sketch. all attacks in the first round also cost no energy including sketch. (assuming this includes commands too, though correct me if im mistaken).

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!! As DarkAmber sends out Useless and Shiny, and Box brings Vlad and Horatio to the field. Looks like Shiny is demonstrating a nice Volt Switch for Useless! The Smeargle quickly paints a picture of it and adds the new move to its pool. Horatio is jumping around like an ADD child given too much sugar, and Vlad uses Counter to no avail as he was not attacked. Shiny uses Mirror Coat, but Useless seems in awe of the Counter instead, and copies it perfectly. Horatio is till being a hyperactive little snake and now Vlad bouncing his fat around to avoid the non-existing attacks aimed at him! Shiny then uses Me first to show her partner how it's done. Useless effortly reproduces the move and learns Me first! Meanwhile Box's team is still bouncing off the walls, What will happen next round?

Yeah, it's fine. I don't really need a ref on the first round because nothing of importance happens except I learn Volt Switch, Mirror Coat, and Counter.

So...I'll just continue, shall I?

Pick on the weakest link, people! Krilowatt, Ice Beam (Dratini) ~ Substitute (25 HP) ~ Ice Beam (Dratini). If Munchlax Earthquakes, Counter, but aim at Dratini, and push actions back. If Munchlax uses Brick Break, Me First (Munchlax and push actions back.

Smeargle, Confuse Ray (Munchlax) ~ Will-o-Wisp (Munchlax) ~ Confuse Ray (Dratini). If Munchlax Brick Breaks, Counter it.
 
Alright Horatio, start off the battle with some evasive action, and use Agility! Next, hit that annoying Smeargle with a Thunder Wave! It's time to dish out some JUSTICE: Dragon Rage that Krillowatt substitute! Finally, use another evasive Agility to dodge the hurt!

Vlad, first I need you to use Earthquake! He can't counter Dratini for something he didn't do! Next, Protect yourself from that nasty burn! Finish off with another Earthquake! Horatio can take it for sure!

Woah woah wait. His Substitution was to Counter the attack, but aim at Dratini. Essentially this means the substitution can be reworded as:
If Munchlax uses Earthquake, then Counter (Dratini).

This is an illegal substitution, so should be ignored completely, so Krillowatt should act as per ordered. When I said "If, Counter can somehow be used to counter Dratini, who DIDN'T use an Earthquake, then change all Earthquakes on Munchlax to Body Slams on Krillowatt", I assumed that the substitution would be null if Krillowatt could even Counter, so in the very least Munchlax shouldn't Earthquake, and instead Body Slam.

Also, evasive Agility dodges Confuse Ray iirc.
 
I spoke to SDS on IRC, he told me counter hits the last pokemon to hit it with a physical attack. So, given the wording of your sub, the reffing is correct as counter did not hit dratini, but munchlax. Though i did goof on the confuse ray. it will be fixed.

Dratini wants to start off, but Krilowatt has other plans, using ME FIRST to use Dratinis SUPER DRACO METEOR COMBO!!! knocking dratini out for the rest of the match but tiring Shiny in the process. Nommy doesn't go last for once and launches an EARTHQUAKE COMBO!!!. Darkamber's pokemon feel that one. Smeargle takes the damage from the hit to deal the damage back to Nommy and then some. Shiny launches a weakened THUNDERBOLT at the poor Munchlax, who can do nothing but take the hit as he recovers from the exhausting combo. Useless fires a WILL-O-WISP, but it misses Nommy completely and burns down a nearby wall. Smeargle gets to use a move again thanks to priority and uses CONFUSE RAY to re-confuse the abused munchlax. Nommy then uses EARTHQUAKE to rock the arena again. (you'd think the ground wouldn't be there anymore.) Shiny takes the super effective hit and uses COUNTER to beat Nommy within an inch of his life. END ROUND 3!!!

I feel bad now for not feeding your Smeargle moves Round 1. Just to clarify, you rolled 3, so my Munchlax had was severely confused, so that means he will not snap out A1, correct?

Is that really how Switch: KO works? You totally made my day. This battle was the bane of my good mood since my Substitution was worded wrongly.

2a means I'm effectively confused 1a iirc.

Because the confusion counter resets towards 0 at the beginning of every action.

Nommy then uses PROTECT to block Smeargle's incoming VOLT SWITCH. Nommy then strikes first (A rarity im sure) with a super effective BRICK BREAK. Useless just takes it and fells Nommy with a brutal COUNTER! The Smeargle actually won... Wow.
