What? Gardevoir looked up from honing her psychic abilities to project sounds and commentary during the upcoming batle.
"Just look at this stuff," I absentmindedly said as I tossed her back the cards containing data on the Pokemon that were to be in the upcoming fight. After a long silence she replied.
How the... these people started at the same time you did, right?
"Yeah."
...so much power... how did they do it?
"Mostly just observing the style of the legends in zarator's case, and just observing a lot of battlers in Athenodoros' case."
Remind me again why you don't have a job?
"I do. Remember, I'm a liscenced subway ref and tutor ref... not that I ever work for either of them."

"Ok, fine. I'll get a job. Maybe in the history of gang wars or something."
"Fair enough."
"Hey, you did hand me back the cards in the right order, right?"
She crossed her arms and glared before replying. Why would I ever make a mistake that basic?

The crowd roared in anticipation of the upcoming match between the two titans of ASB. By titans, I mean titans. Like they'd actually made me collect the Pokeballs to check for Action Replay involvement. Steroids were becoming a bit of an issue in the world.
I raised my hand and mic, signifying that the match was about to begin.
"Alright, alright. Welcome to the battle of the month, if not the year! Tonight we have our resident Ghestis impersonator-"
"FOOL! I AM THE REAL GHESTIS!"
"...right. zarator against one of our newly designated gym leaders and super ref, Athenodoros!"
As I waited for the applause to die down, I sorted through my cards and came up with the order Gardevoir had given me, matching the Pokeballs with the cards. "AND NOW WE BEGIN!"
