Disregard the poll. I don't know how to remove it :(
Changes in Bold!
This is the first time I made a good team and I’ve been working with it for almost 2 months now. It started when I decided to actually make a team around type synergy, adding some defense, blah blah blah. I’ve done so much changing and my team building process is a whole long list of crap so I won’t get too much into that. But I will congratulate Scizor, who stuck with the team since day 1. He gets some shiny paint as a reward!
OK now let’s get on with it!
The Team at a Glance
In Depth:
Snipe (Scizor)(M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 236 HP, 252 Atk, 20 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-U-turn
-Pursuit
This EV spread gives me the edge over the Scizor who thinks he is faster than the standard Scizor. He is the first member of the Volturn core, which does a good job of keeping the pressure. Pursuit has killed a lot of things. Thanks for telling me to do so :)
Manchine (Rotom-Wash)(M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
-Trick
-Hidden Power (Ice)
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
The second member of the Volturn core. It gets BoltBeam and Hydro Pump, which is awesome, and tricking walls (cough Blissey) on the switch causes a lot of ragequits. Not much else to say, more glue and scouting with Scizor. Standard Rotom-W is standard.
Conker (Forretress)(M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP, 120 Def, 136 SpD
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpA)
-Earthquake
-Light Screen
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
I stole this idea from Nbz, and tweaked it for my team's needs. The concept is to get Light screen, which with the given EV spread, brings its Special Defense to a cool 380, while its Defense is also 380. It also supports a switch should, say, Rotom switch into a Fire Blast. It packs Eathquake to hit Magnezone if I have sturdy or Light Screen to live a hit. It provides answers to my call for spinning and Stealth Rocks.
Dragone (Latias)(F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
-Recover
-Reflect
-Calm Mind
-Dragon Pulse
Latias has the perfect role of an offensive special wall, especially for my team. She has reflect which helps her set up a sweep. The speedy EV spread has been working out much better, as I can act quickly and reflect or CM to sponge the hit, recover, and repeat.
AvgIron (Skarmory)(M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP, 228 Def, 28 Spe
Impish nature (+Def, -SpA)
-Spikes
-Whirlwind
-Roost
-Brave Bird
Skarmory is an excellent physical wall and has Spikes which contribute to my cause. He also has whirlwind for phazing, so that helps with wearing down my opponent. He checks a great number of threats and makes a good core with latias.
Gengar (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
-Trick
-Shadow Ball
-Substitute
-Disable
Zelda100 suggested this set, except for trick. Tricking sludge everywhere is very satisfying. No Blissey or anything wants to eat a pile of sludge and it wins matches for me.
Final Inspection!
Synergy check:
Scizor- Fire-Rotom, Latias
Rotom- Grass- Scizor, Skarmory, Latias
Donphan- Grass- Scizor, Skarmory, Latias
Water- Rotom, Latias
Ice- Scizor, Rotom
Latias- Ice- Scizor, Rotom
Dragon- Scizor, Skarmory
Dark- Scizor, Skarmory
Bug- Scizor, Skarmory
Ghost- Scizor, Skarmory
Skarmory- Electric- Latias, Donphan
Fire- Latias, Rotom
Gengar- Dark- Scizor, Skarmory
Ghost- Scizor, Skarmory,
Psychic- Scizor, Skarmory, Latias
How Stuff Works:
The team is more defensively geared when I look at it. My goal is to try and get up my hazards early game, and to keep the pressure on the opposing team with Volturning and phazing. This wears down the opposing team and lets me easily clean up with Scizor, Rotom, or Latias.
I trashed Sableye and added Gengar.
I hope you enjoyed reading this RMT, and the rate would really help me. I appreciate constructive criticism because I am relatively new to competitive play.
Thanks to all for helping me with this so far! Anymore suggestions are welcome! ^_^
