Hi there.

Camerupt
[pimg]323[/pimg]

[Overview]
-It’s a fucking camel
-Great typing all around
-Above Average attacking stats, slow as balls though
-good all-around movepool
-wishes it was a bit bulkier
-seriously, just like 80/80/85 instead of 70/70/75 and it would have been great
-Solid Rock is pretty good since you can tank random non-stab EQs

[Set]
name: Tank
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Earth Power
move 3: Lava Plume / Fire Blast
move 4: Roar / Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Solid Rock
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD

[Set Comments]
-Reliably sets up SR
-Notably tanks Magmortar, isn’t hurt much by any of its attacks and deals heavy damage back. Can also deal nicely with Klinklang.
-Also beats most Electric-types in the tier like Eelektross, Electrode, and Raichu.
-Isn’t afraid of Ghost-type mons really, since Camerupt is immune to burn.
-Earth Power for good Special STAB, Fire Blast VS Lava Plume for Power VS Accuracy (and Burn chance).
-Roar allows you to get up SR then shuffle the opponents team and getting hazard damage in on them. It also allows you to deal with those annoying BP chains.
-Toxic allows you to do something to Quagsire and other bulky Water-types instead of just phasing them

[Additional Comments]
-Physically defensive spread can be used in order to better take on Klinklang and the like. Just switch special defense to defense and change the nature to bold.
-A more offensive spread is also viable, in order to assure KOs on mons like Magmortar and Torkoal.
-Good teammates should be able to take Water and Ground-type attacks for Camerupt, good examples are things like Exeggutor and Leafeon.
-Give me a mon that doesn’t appreciate Stealth Rock on the field, but things that can really take advantage of it are Swellow and set up sweepers in general.
-Camerupt is immune to Burn and Thunder Wave (and other Electric-attacks), but is susceptible to Poison, and doesn’t have recovery of its own. Teammates that get rid of Toxic Spikes in some way are cool, as are ones that can pass Wish. Examples: Cryogonal, Alomamola, Lickilicky.

[Set]
name: Rock Polish
move 1: Rock Polish
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
item: Life Orb
ability: Solid Rock
nature: Modest
evs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe

[Set Comments]
-Great offensive STAB that can rip holes in unprepared teams
-Usually slower than my grandmother, with a Rock Polish can outspeed Positive base 105 speed Pokemon.
-Still slower than my grandma after a rock polish, can’t outspeed most scarfed mons without a second boost.
-Fire Blast and Earth Power are powerful STAB options.
-Hidden Power Ice gives extra coverage on Flying-types that resist Fire such as Altaria
-Can run Hidden Power Grass in the last slot to wreck Quagsire and do some damage to other Bulky Waters, but Quagsire is usually 2HKO'd by Earth Power anyway.

[Additional Comments]
-Still can’t get around bulky Waters, Grass-types and Electric-types are good partners for this.
-EVs and Nature to outspeed base 105s and pump up SpA, rest in Attack for Stone Edge
-You could max speed to outspeed Serperior, but Serperior isn’t that common to begin with. Max Speed can’t even outspeed +1 Neutral Base 70 Speed mons.
-Appreciates hazard support because base 105 SpA isn’t all that powerful to be honest.

[Other Options]
-TR Attacker set because its slow as balls and relatively powerful
-Gets Eruption to use with TR, any other set you're going to have trouble staying at full health
-RestTalk if you’re that desperate for recovery
-Specs? So many things do this better.
-Gets Will-o-Wisp and Yawn but they’re generally inferior
-Sunny Day + Solarbeam but you’re still slow as ass
-Flame Charge or Bulldozer if you want to be somewhat less slow or make other things slow
-Explosion because camels explode
-Stockpile / Amnesia but something will KO you before you set up.
-Anger Point is pretty crappy since you don't want to be sitting around waiting for a crit, Magma Armor is just silly.

[Checks and Counters]
-Slow as balls, anything that can outspeed it and hit it hard is a decent check.
-Altaria laughs at pretty much everything and does whatever it wants, since it can cure status with Natural Cure, needs to watch out for SR + Roar or HP Ice though.
-Bulky Water-types like Quagsire and Alomamola say hi
-Camerupt relies on resistances a lot so anything that can hit it hard neutrally is pretty good, eg. Sawk, Swellow, Braviary.
-Last Pokemon set up attackers like SubCM Mesprit and CM Drifblim can set up on it then proceed to sweep.

FUK YEA CAMERUPT people need to use this more. also i'd mention that it beats every electric-type down here too thanks to amazing typing: see raichu, electrode, eelektross, magneton...

QC APPROVED (1/3)

Honestly, what's the point of Fire Blast on the Tank set? Yes it hits harder, but Lava Plume is just so much more reliable, with accuracy and burn chance (and PP too) Granted its not useless, but Lava Plume really should be before Fire Blast.

I'd just toss out a mention of Meganium as a teammate, it can offer cleric support for those pain in ass Toxics aimed at him, lures in Fire/Bug/Poison attacks, etc. This thing is surprisingly bulky, it's kinda interesting tbh. also, exploding camels>exploding lemon tongue monster things

Last set typo:

40 Atk / 252 SpA / 216 SpA

I would also say switch the places between Fire Blast and Lava Plume. Lava Plume is better for him, although both are useful, the burn chance being higher and the larger amount of PP just make it a better option got him.

Reverse the order of Lava Plume and Fire Blast on the tank set as you don't want Lava Plume's burn chance to interfere with Toxic, if you are using it.

Camerupt is surprisingly decent

QC APPROVED (2/3)

last slot of RP should be just HP Ice, IMO; you're never going to have quagsire issues (solid 2HKO with EP if you predict) and HP Ice hits altaria hard enough anyway. As far as I know, nobody runs mantine... I could be wrong though.

Will make the following changes tomorrow:

Lava Plume switch with Fire Blast
fix evs of second set
put hp ice in the last slot of rp (didnt realize ep is a 2hko)
Change counters to reflect that
eruption to oo (knew i forgot something)

Giving this QC 3/3 because i can.

I'm hoping I'm not too late to say something, but in the Additional Comments mention Roselia as a good partner for Camerupt. It easily takes the Water attacks thrown at it, sends one of Camerupt's worst nightmare in Quagsire back cowering, absorb status and Tspikes and sets up it own Spikes.

Maybe even mention the F/W/G core of Camerupt, Roselia, Alomomola. Camerupt sets up rocks and handles Magmortar and Magneton, Roselia absorbs Toxic Spikes, status, sets up Spikes, can provide Leech Seed support, and Alomomola can provide both Camerupt and Roselia with useful Wish support while taking care of prominent physical threats such as Sawk and Swellow. Its a very effective core and its the one I've been playing around with.
