Hello, another day, another solo TLR Run at Mysterious Cove. Who is the challenger today? Let's meet him!

  • Rivalry: (Innate) This Pokemon has a primal response to competition and mating, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its attacks by two (2) when it attacks an opponent of the same gender in the same Egg Group, and decreasing the power of all its attacks by two (2) when it faces an opponent of the opposite gender in the same Egg Group (Monster/Ground are used for Nidorina/Nidoqueen).

MYSTERIOUS COVE

"Did you ever hear of the Legends?"

"What Legends?"

"Of Pokemon so rare, so powerful, that their very existence is debated even amongst Pokemon researchers."

"Oh, those legends. What of it?"

"They say there is a cove with a rare Pokemon in it. The Pokemon around there aren't particularly strong, and the place itself has been checked time and time again. But people still insist there's a legend there. But it can only be found if you can hear its voice."

"Sounds like a fairy tale. Lay off the whisky."

"Whatever you say. I'm heading over there to check it out."

There is a cove hidden deep in a forest that beckons those few chosen ones who seek the legends. In order to get there you will have to cross several kinds of treacherous terrain, but this may be your first chance to get a taste of adventure. A mysterious man meets you at the entrance, signaling you forward. Oddly, it seems like you're the only one who can see them. You ignore the jests of your friends and follow him. You think you've heard him speak before, but you can't quite remember what his voice sounds like. It strikes you as odd, but you head towards the Mysterious Cove anyway.

Mysterious Cove - Brush Aside


You eye the cove, & with little knowledge of what's in store for you, you head towards Mysterious Cove.

However, before you can get there, you notice that at this point, the terrain is too rough to get directly into the cove, but to your left, you see a small forest, which while longer, obviously leads into the cove itself. It looked far more frendlier physically, so you decide that the best course of action to take is to venture into the forest. As soon as you start going through the forest in earnest, you hear a voice in your head.

"Be on the lookout." The voice advises you in your mind. "In places like this, the Pokemon are highly territorial. Don't be fooled by their youth, they are wily creatures."

As soon as the sentence finishes, two little critters, native to this forest, crawl out of a tree & notice you! Thinking you were an intruder, the two bugs pounce & attack you, forcing you to send in your three Pokemon! With the stage set, the battle would begin in earnest.

Mysterious Cove - Brush Aside


Zidane Tribal opens by tightening his focus, as Ledyba wastes no time getting into attack mode, striking Land Turtle with a few powerful manoeuvres. Behemoth then resorts to ramminto Ledyba, but is stopped after tripping over a dandylion, while Nincada gnaws at Land Turtle, causing a painful sensation. Land Turtle then retaliates at Nincada with a poweful ball of matter which weakens Nincada a bit, as Zidane Tribal unleashes his focus, whacking the Nincada critically with a powerful fist.

Behemoth then starts to help out Land Turtle while Zidane Tribal scorches the Ledyba critically with a stream of powerful flames. Ledyba & Nincada then attack Land Turtle in unison, with Ledyba startling him with a horrible noise, & Nincada slashing Land Turtle. Land Turtle caps off the round by biting back at Nincada, firing a powerful red beam which deals a lot of damage to Nincada, & absorbs all of it back to Land Turtle with the power of the Big Root.

With the round done, it seems like you're doing okay, but Land Turtle is taking a beating...Issue your actions.

I cannot accept Land Turtle's sub, since it's not based on moves at all.

Mysterious Cove - Brush Aside


Sensing danger, Land Turtle throws up a barrier to shield himself from danger, while Zidane Tribal scorches Ledyba critically with a powerful stream of fire. Ledyba then relaxes & rests herself to the ground as Behemoth goes charging at Ledyba again...Only to trip himself over again...Nincada then quickly burrowed underground before popping out, bashing Zidane Tribal for some damage. At this point, Ledyba had rested enough & rose back up.

Zidane Tribal then cartwheels & slams into Ledyba for some damage, while Ledyba responds by plummeting into Land Turtle with more powerful manoeuvres. Behemoth continues to attack the Ledyba by jabbing her with his horn, while Nincada gnaws into Land Turtle, making him shriek in pain. Land Turtle then wraps up the round by firing a red beam at Nincada & damaging the Nincada, while retrieving some health back.

Round done, & it seems like Land Turtle is in danger! Issue your actions.

Mysterious Cove - Brush Aside


Sensing more danger, Land Turtle throws up a shield to defend himself from attacks, while Zidane Tribal, impressed by Ledyba, claps his hands repeatedly, encouraging Ledyba into a state where she can't do anything but slam into Land Turtle with powerful manoeuvres. This is exactly waht Ledyba did, as she attacked Land Turtle with powerful manoeuvres, but Land Turtle blocked the attack with the assistance of his shield. Behemoth then lets rip, attempting to ram into Ledyba again, but this time, third time's the charm, as Behemoth successfully crashes into Ledyba with full force. Behemoth felt pain from the blow, but the impact proved to be too much for Ledyba as she laid flat on the forest floor, unconscious. In the meantime, Nincada burrows undergorund & then pops up several seconds later, crashing into Zidane Tribal for some damage.

Behemoth then lends his paw to Land Turtle, assisting him in his attack, while Zidane Tribal scorches the Nincada with a stream of flames. The Nincada then gnaws into Land Turtle again, making him shriek, but then Land Turtle retaliated with a red beam which finishes off the Nnicada & drains the last of his life force, giving it to Land Turtle!

With the battle done, it seems like the efforts of the Lackeys have done quite a bit of damage to your team! Nevertheless, you shrug it off & continue deeper into the forest, hoping the battles ahead won't be any more worse then the Lackeys...

Walking deeper into the forest, you notice everything was getting darker & darker, & you get the feeling that there were bugs watching you left, right, & centre. There is a lot of webbing around the area, as if this was a spider domain, but eventually, you come across a tree containing three, ripe Oran Berries, & seemingly, there's nothing around it. The Oran Berries look ready to be plucked, & you know that these supplies could help along the way.

"Ooh, looks like you've come across a Roleplaying Scenario..." A voice says to you in your head. "You need to be careful, as each action may come with consequences..."

Nevertheless, you are forced to weigh your options up. What shall you do?

Not interested in the Oran Berries, you decide to leave them there & move on & move on you do so without incident. Whatever would've happened if you picked the berries, you'd never know, but that was the least of your concerns, as you moved deeper into the forest...

Mysterious Cove - Fish, Maw

Continuing through the forest, you wonder when all this forest is going to end. Soon enough, you see what appears to be "light at the end of the tunnel" & you rush to the exit. It was indeed, the end of the forest! Where you are situated now, is the mouth of the Mysterious Cove itself. It appears to be low tide, as two rock paths barely sticking up out of the water are the only way in. Their winding nature makes them look like long whiskers. Looking closely at the water, you can tell it is slightly illuminated, though you don't know why. At this point, you spot 2 Magikarp & 1 Tynamo, & they spot you. Thinking you are an intruder, the three wild Pokemon attack you, forcing you to send in your Pokemon.

"Welcome to a nest. What these Pokemon lack in strength they make up for in numbers. Plan carefully." A voice in your head advises you. "If you're not careful, they can deal a lot of damage..."

And with that, you stare into the nest, & the battle was on.

As per discussion on IRC, it was determined that Mega Drain + Energy Ball was impossible to combine. Dig + Thunderpunch, on the other hand, was deemed valid.

As Behemoth helps out Land Turtle, the two Magikarp start flopping & jumping high into the sky, as the Tynamo rams into Zidane Tribal whilst enveloped in electricity. The two Magikarp then come down from the sky & crash into Land Turtle with full force, dealing damage. Zidane Tribal then decides to burrow into the watery floor, as Land Turtle tries to combine a red beam & a ball of matter, but simply couldn't as he couldn't possibly try to get out both attacks in unison...Tough break...Meanwhile, Zidane Tribal pops out of the ground & uppercuts one of the Magikarp with an electrical fist & deals massive damage!

The two Magikarp then spring their way back into the air as the Tynamo envelops herself in electricity, ramming into Zidane Tribal for some damage. Zidane Tribal & Land Turtle cool down from thedown from their attacks, as Behemoth burrows underground. The Magikarp crash into Land Turtle, dealing more damage, as Behemoth pops up & damages one of the Magikarp.

Round End, & while notevrything went according to plan, Land Turtle lives to fight another round! Will you be able to capitalise on this? Issue your actions.

Speaking on past battles I've been involved in since the inception of the "Illegal Orders" rule, a failed combo is considered to be reffed as normal. Illegal Orders is in one way, considered to be deliberately using a move where the offender knows it will fail beforehand. Hence, I'll remain consistent with other refs & consider it not to be an illegal order. Issue your actions.
Protip: You can say IF the combo would fail; It's a perfectly acceptable sub.

Before your team could react, the two Magikarp unleash a mighty swarm of bubbles which pelt your team & knock out Land Turtle! After the swarm, the Tynamo fires a beam at Behemoth & stores up the excess electricity, while Zidane Tribal knuckle sandwiches one of the Magikarp with a fist of lightning. Behemoth then jabs the same Magikarp with his horn, leaving it very weak.

The two Magikarp then continue on their rampage, unleashing another swarm of bubbles in unison which Zidane Tribal was unable to withstand, as he collapses to the ground. The Tynamo then fires another beam at Behemoth, striking & storing up on more electricity, as Behemoth finally knocks out a Magikarp with another jab of his horn!

Round done, & while you got a KO, you lost two members...How can you fight back? Issue your actions.
