Guide to Trick Room in BW OU

Written by Sciztar

Introduction

When Trick Room was introduced in D/P, OU Trick Room Teams were feared because of the unpredictability of certain Pokemon. Now in Black & White and Black & White 2, weather teams are very common in the OU tier and OU Trick Room Teams have been on the decline. This guide is here to help show you that Trick Room is a viable strategy in the OU in Black & White and Black & White 2 that all teams should look out for when team building.

Trick Room: The Move

Trick Room, is a 5 PP ( 8 After Max PP) Psychic attack that has the following affects:

-Trick Room, upon activation, lasts for the next 5 turns including the turn it was used.
-TR has a -7 priority attack and is i the slowest attack
-During Trick Room, the Pokemon who would have gone last normally will go first.
-Trick Room has the worst priority in the game. This move will always go last, regardless of the speed of user, or the speed of the opponent.
-When using Trick Room during a Trick Room, the affects do not stack, the original Trick Room will be canceled and the normal rules of Pokemon will apply.

Trick Room Suggestions

Due to Trick Room only lasting for only 5 turns, you are definitely going to need to be prepared to put Trick Room back up at least two to three times during a battle. Because of this, a Trick Room user almost has to be a tank or a wall; in order to make repeated switch-ins and set up the move once again. Furthermore, it is likely that during the course of your battle, your Trick Roomer will die, so it is important to pack at least two Trick Room users. One thing to note is that most of the Pokemon who can set up Trick Room are either Psychic or Ghost type. Due to this, it is highly recommended that you:

A. Have at least a Dark and Ghost resist on your team.
B. Have a way to deal with Weather Teams, Tyranitar, Scizor, Genesect, and Volcarona.
C. Do not use any sweepers who increase your weakness to common OU pokemon.
D. Have at least two Pokemon to deal with weather teams.
E. Have a Pokemon that is capable to set up Stealth Rock.
F. Have a Late Game Sweeper to deal with faster threats.
G. Don't be afraid to integrate weather into your Trick Room team, be creative

Noob Guide

Here are some suggestion that will help your Trick Room Team not to be defined as a gimmick team.

1) Don't use frail sweepers. This might seem obvious but a lot of new players when trying to create a Trick Room Team jump immediately to slow powerhouses like Rampardos and Marowak. This is good for fun teams with your friends but in the competitive OU environment you'll notice it won't take you far and you will lose to competitive teams 7/10. These Pokemon have a fatal flaw, they are useless outside of Trick Room, which leads to the second point .

2) You need Trick Room sweepers that won't be dead weight when Trick Room isn't up. What that means is they need to be useful even outside of Trick Room. For example: Scizor, Tyranitar, Dragonite, Breloom, Conkeldurr, are good examples of Pokemon that function well in and out of the Trick Room. This is really crucial because it gives your team some versatility.

3) The third thing you need to ask yourself is, can your sweepers break through the common defensive cores played in the meta game. The main defensive cores are:
Slowbro / Amoonguss / Heatran /Blissey, Skarmory / Jellicent / Ferrothorn core. Stall Teams are the biggest nightmare for Trick Room users;you need Pokemon that will be unstoppable, like Mixed Sweepers: Dragonite and Tyranitar can break through these walls.

4) Try to make your Trick Room team offensive. Usually new players use three defensive Pokemon to setup Trick Room and three sweepers. That concept is not bad, but it lets your opponent have too many chances to setup on you. Here is an
example: Lets say I am playing the Defensive Trick Room Bronzong. I use Trick Room, then my opponent switches to Breloom, because I have no offensive moves to be an offensive threat, my opponent can bait me to switch out fearing a Spore from Breloom. My opponent can then proceed to use either Swords Dance or Substitute. NowI have lost the momentum and my opponentcan do whatever they like and now you have wasted three turns of Trick Room. But lets say I am playing the Macho Brace Bronzong. Now I am able to OHKO the enemy's Breloom with Gyroball and not have to worry about wasting a turn of Trick Room and causing my opponent to set up on me.

5) D
on't be obvious about when you're gonna setup Trick Room. For example: Lets say my opponent has a Gliscor and you're trying to setup Trick Room with Porygon2. The best choice here is to obviously use Ice Beam because more than likely Gliscor is going to use substitute predicting the Trick Room. If you let Gliscor use substitute your opponent is going to stall out your Trick Room turns and you will be using all of your Trick Room turns up just to find a Pokemon on your team who has a super effective move to break Gliscor's substitute.

Speed Limits to Trick Room

Even though Trick Room lets slower Pokemon go first there should be a speed limit to how slow your sweeper should be. Base 80 Speed in my opinion is the limit to how slow your sweeper should be. Base 80 Speed is pushing it too fast in Trick Room, because when you have a sweeper with a Base 80 Speed even with (-Speed) Nature, slower Pokemon with a speed stat of 147 and lower will go before you under Trick Room. So if you have a Dragonite on your team just remember Slowbro will always go before you.

148 Speed Stat / Chandelure / Base Speed 80
148 Speed Stat / Dragonite / Base Speed 80
148 Speed Stat / Gallade / Base Speed 80
143 Speed Stat / Heatran / Base Speed 77
132 Speed Stat / Hounchkrow / Base Speed 71
130 Speed Stat / Breloom / Base Speed 70
130 Speed Stat / Metagross / Base Speed 70

Entry Hazards for Trick Room

For any tier you are in, whether it be LC, NU, RU, UU, OU or even Uber you need a Pokemon that can set up entry hazards for your team. T
he difference between not having entry hazard is your sweepers getting those 2HKO to becoming OHKO. Stealth Rock is necessary with Trick Room teams because your sweepers will have a much easier time getting those crucial KOs. Plus entry hazards wear down your opponent's Pokemon greatly as the match progress, so the longer you keep your entry hazards on your opponent's side of the field you will notice your opponent's Pokemon will be easy targets for priority moves.

Trick Room: The Setters

In the OU Trick Room users need to be incredibly bulky. A frail Trick Room user runs the risk of being KO'd before it can even set up Trick Room. You also don't want your team to look too much like a Trick Room Team. Even though that sounds hard try to be unique, have some Pokemon that people don't suspect are on Trick Room Teams. The following will show you some good leads in the OU.

Slowbro
Type: Water / Psychic
Base Stats: 95 HP / 75 Atk / 110 Def / 100 SpA / 80 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Oblivious / Own Tempo / Regenerator

Reconmended Set
Slowbro @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
Relaxed Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Trick Room
Surf
Fire Blast
Yawn

Slowbro remains a fantastic physical wall, especially in the OU. No physical attack can OHKO him unless by the unlikely critical hax. Slowbro is one of the best users of the move Trick Room because of its Base 110 defense. Slowbro can easily come in multiple times and set it up Trick Room while still packing a punch. With its ability Regenerator, Slowbro can easily take a physical hit, Slack Off switch in and out and regain a lot of HP back. Slowbro can also force a switch out with Yawn which will help you get Trick Room back up. Fire Blast is here to get the Scizor, Ferrothorn, and other steel types out of the way.

Slowking
Type: Water / Psychic
Base Stats: 95 HP / 75 Atk / 80 Def / 100 SpA / 110 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Oblivious / Own Tempo / Regenerator

Reconmended Set
Slowbro @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
Quiet Nature
EVs: 248 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Trick Room
Nasty Plot / Fire Blast
Psychic
Surf

The King of Trick Room is here Slowking. Slowking gets a mention in the OU as a great offensive user of Trick Room. What makes Slowking different from Slowbro is Nasty Plot. After +2 from Slowking his special attack reaches over 600. With an attacking stat of that magnitude Slowking is a grey stand alone Trick Room user. Slowking is great check to Keldo and Tornadus-T with his base 110 special defense. But unlike Slowbro, Slowking won't be taking physical hits as well as Slowbro does. Choice Band Scizor can easily OHKO Slowking with ease, Magnezone is the perfect partner for Slowking. With Magnezone's Magnet Pull you can trap Scizor and KO Scizor with Hidden Power Fire

Porygon2
Type: Normal
Base Stats: 85 HP / 80 Atk / 90 Def / 105 SpA / 95 SpD / 60 Spe
Abilities: Trace / Download / Analytic

Reconmended Set
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Trick Room
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Recover

With the Eviolite, Porygon2 plays an excellent role as a defensive Trick Room setter without the weaknesses to Dark and Ghost that most Trick Room users have. With the eviolite's boost Porygon2's defenses the only thing stop Porygon2 are powerful Fighting-type moves and common fighting type Pokemon like: Conkeldurr, Lucario, Infernape and Terrakion. Porygon2 has excellent coverage in BoltBeam with its usable Base 105 Special Attack. Magic Coat is also great for Porygon2 as he can reflect status, taunts, entry hazards and give your team even more of an advantage when playing. Recovery is necessary because the Porygon has no way of recovering HP because of its eviolite.

Celebi
Type: Grass / Psychic
Base Stats: 100 HP / 100 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Natural Cure
Reconmended Set
Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SAtk / 136 SDef / 52 Spd
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 Atk / 30 Spd
Calm Nature (+SpD, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Fire
- Stealth Rock
- Trick Room

When playing with Celebi you should not have to worry about being able to set up the Trick Room. Celebi can take a hit and U-turn out into your Trick Room sweeper. A side note about Celebi is that you can use it as a cleric on your team as it has Heal Bell. With Heal Bell you can get rid of the status that are plaguing your team during the match. It's not all sunshine for the guardian of the forest as it has a total of 7 weaknesses, most notably to Ice, Fire, Dark and Bug attacks, but it has some nice resistance to ground, water, fighting and electric attacks. Celebi is good at stopping the Volt-Turn combo from Scizor and Rotom-W.

Cofagrigus
Type: Ghost
Base Stats: 58 HP / 50 Atk / 145 Def / 95 SpA / 105 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Mummy
Reconmended Set
Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Trait: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
Trick Room
Nasty Plot
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power Fighting

Cofagrigus holds the most defenses stat among all of the ghost types besides eviolite Dusclops. What separates Cofagrigus from Dusclops is Nasty Plot. With a Base 140 Def, Cofagrigus can easily find a way to set up Nasty Plot on your opponent. After a +2 from Nasty Plot Cofagrigus' Special Attack is already over 500. And with Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Fighting Cofagrigus has an unresistant move set. The only thing that can stop Cofagrigus is special walls like Blissey and Chansey. Conkeldurr is a great partner to Cofagrigus as he gets rid of special walls that can stop Cofagrigus.

Jirachi
Type: Steel / Psychic
Base Stats: 100 HP / 100 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Serene Grace
Recommended Set
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch / Ice Punch
- Trick Room
- Stealth Rock

Jirachi is blessed with its Steel / Psychic type as it has 9 resistances, a mere 2 weaknesses and with a great support move pool. Jirachi is probably one of the bulkiest Pokemon in OU, as it resists Toxic Spikes & Stealth Rock. Jirachi's Serene Grace ability should also be noted, as with Iron Head's flinch rate, this means that 60% of the time your opponent won't be attacking you. Also Jirachi can also set up Stealth Rock for your team which is great for your sweepers. Fire Punch or Ice Punch is up to you, if you want to hit opposing Jirachi and other steel types then Fire Punch is just right. But if your worried about flying types or Dragons you should stick with Ice Punch.

Bronzong
Type: Steel / Psychic
Base Stats: 67 HP / 89 Atk / 116 Def / 79 SpA / 116 SpD / 33 Spe
Abilities: Levitate / Heatproof / Heavy Metal

Recommended Set
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
Sassy Nature
EVs: 244 HP / 180 Atk / 84 SpD Def
Trick Room
Stealth Rock
Gyro Ball
Earthquake

Bronzong is just an awesome defensive Pokemon. Its defensive stats on both ends make Bronzong a great mixed wall or a physical wall. With its Steel and Psychic type it has a total of nine resistances and only one weakness, which is fire. It can counter a lot of common Pokemon surprisingly, such as Dragons and Sand Teams. If your team is struggling against Terrakion a gyro ball from Bronzong can OHKO Terrakion. The only thing that lets Bronzong down as being one the best wall is its below-average HP and lack of recovery move outside of the move Rest. It is also somewhat set-up fodder, though Hypnosis remedies this somewhat, just be careful because you be taunted a lot so bring a Mental Herb. Despite these drawbacks, Bronzong is still a rock-solid wall who can take almost any attack in stride.

Mesprit
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 80 HP / 105 Atk / 105 Def / 105 SpA / 105 SpD / 80 Spe
Abilities: Levitate

Recommended Set

Mesprit @ Leftovers
EVS: 252 HP/252 Sp.Atk/4 Sp.Def
Quiet Nature
-Trick Room
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-U-turn

Mesprit is good user of Trick Room due to her great overall offenses and defenses. Mesprit has a very huge move pool which allows her to become a potentially sweeper under Trick Room. Healing Wish is an option to restore one of your sweeper but at the cost of losing Mesprit. Mesprit is mostly seen in the UU, but Mesprit can be very troublesome if left unchecked. With Mesprit's BoltBeam coverage, Mesprit covers a lot Pokemon, plus she has U-turn to get to your sweepers quickly and to keep the momentum on your team.

Reuniclus
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 110 HP / 65 Atk / 75 Def / 125 SpA / 85 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Overcoat / Magic Guard / Regenerator

Recommended Set
Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 96 HP / 160 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
Trick Room
Psychic / Psyshock
Focus Blast / Hidden Power Fire
Shadow Ball

Reuniclus is the most powerful Trick Room user. With its base 125 Special Attack, Base 30 Speed, Base 110 HP, and its ability Magic Guard makes Reuniclus a large threat to most teams. With Magic Guard it protects Reuniclus from weather damage, status conditions and entry hazards damage from wearing it down. Life Orb is the recommended item for Reuniclus as Magic Guard negates the recoil damage but you keep the Boost from Life Orb. Reuniclus has a very wide move pool that should be noted. With Shadow Ball and Focus Blast Reuniclus will be hitting a lot of types with ease and with the Life Orb, Reuniclus can cause serious damage to any team who isn't prepared.

Cresselia
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 120 HP / 70 Atk / 120 Def / 75 SpA / 130 SpD / 85 Spe
Abilities: Levitate

Recommended Set

Cresselia @ Leftovers / Mental Herb
Trait: Levitate
Relaxed Nature / Sassy nature
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 Spd
Trick Room
Psychic
Light Screen / Reflect
Lunar Dance

Cresselia's amazing bulk is a great asset for a Dual-Screening role in OU. Having a massive 120 HP Base Stat, a 120 Defense Base Stat and a 130 Special Defense Base Stat is simply amazing. As opposed to what most people think, Cresselia isn't too slow. It has a pretty good 85 Base Speed Stat, considering its humongous bulk. It has access to a very useful move that other Dual Screen users do not possess, which is Lunar Dance. For those who are unaware of that move's effect, well it is a support option that sacrifices Cresselia in order to fully heal the HP and status of the Pokemon that comes in next

Smeargle
Type: Normal
Base Stats: 55 HP / 20 Atk / 35 Def / 20 SAtk / 45 Spd / 75 Spe
Abilities: Own Tempo
Recommended Set
Lvl1 Smeargle @ Focus Sash
Trait: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 Spe
Hardy Nature
Trick Room
Stealth Rock
Endeveaor
Dragon Rage

Now you might be thinking why the hell would you use Smeargle on a Trick Room team? The reason why Smeargle gets a good mention is because it, along with Mew can learn every move in the game. For Trick Room teams he can be a great suicide lead that gets Trick Room up and take a Pokemon with it. If your team is missing our on Entry Hazards Smeargle has access to Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, Spikes.

Xatu
Type: Psychic / Flying
Base Stat: 65 HP / 75 Atk / 70 Def / 95 SAtk / 70 Spd / 95 Spe
Abilities: Magic Bounce
Recommended Set
Xatu @ leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EV's: 252 HP / 252 Def/ 4 SpA
Nature: Relaxed Nature
U-turn
Trick room
Roost
Heat wave

Even though I stated that I don't recommend Trick Room users to be over Base 80 Xatu is the only exception. With its ability Magic Bounce Xatu becomes a great Trick Room setter because it is the only Pokemon that can set up Trick Room and cannot be taunted so you are guaranteed a chance to set up Trick Room. Xatu also can set up Reflect or Light Screen to help your team against hyper offensive teams. With its ability it can help stop your opponent from setting up entry hazards onto your side of the field. Heat Wave is here to stop Scizor and Breloom from trying to set up on Xatu. Xatu is capable of using U-turn to keep the momentum on your side and switch into your sweepers.

Victini
Type: Psychic / Fire
Base Stats: 100 HP / 100 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Victory Star

Recommended Set

Victini @ Fire Gem
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- V-create
- Final Gambit / U-turn / Brick Break
- Fusion Bolt

Not only is Victini good for being a sweeper he can also set up Trick Room on his own and start sweeping. Final Gambit is here to get a free KO to a threat, because of its Base 100 HP, most Pokemon don't have a Base 100 HP you will more thank likely to get a KO if Victini is at full health, but at the cost of your Victini. You mostly see Victini on sun teams because of its most powerful move V-Create, it becomes incredibly powerful in the Sun. Victini can be used as a counter against sun teams if your team struggles against them. Fusion Bolt is to hit those pesky water types that want to try and wall your Victini, but fear not Jellicent will not take a Fusion Bolt and Slowbro is 2HKOed by it as well. You can also use U-turn on Victini to get to sweepers, but Victini is mostly a stand alone sweeper.

Trick Room Sweepers

When you are thinking of creating a Trick Room Team most people, including myself, start off with a Trick Room Sweeper. When you're thinkng about what Trick Room sweeper to use on your team ask yourself: how many types of Pokemon can your sweeper hit super effectively or neutrally, who walls your sweeper, how much synergy does your sweeper have with your teammates. You must be careful when choosing a sweeper for your team because you don't want a sweeper with paper defenses like Clamperl. Now I'm not saying discard every Pokemon with weak defenses, for example Hounchkrow has Base 52 in Defense and Special Defense. If you have the right teammates that support Hounchkrow, he can be an incredible sweeper for your team, that means your team is going to need team mates that resist the types: Electric, Ice, and Rock. When choosing a Trick Room Sweeper you want a Pokemon that can hit hard and can hit a lot of types in 3 turns of Trick Room. You want a sweeper with a little bulk so it can take a hit an attack right back. It all goes down what your team needs, just remember that what ever Pokemon you choose just be sure it hits a lot of types.

1) Physical Sweepers

Machamp
Type: Fighting
Base Stats: 90 HP / 130 Atk / 85 Def / 65 SpA / 85 SpD / 55 Spe
Abilities: Guts / No Guard / Steadfast

With its No Guard ability Machamp's STAB Dynamicpunch is the most powerful and effective move in its arsenal. As it guarantees to confuse the opponent, which makes Machamp a very frustrating opponent. Not only is DynamicPunch frustrating, all of its moves are a sure hit with his No Guard Ability, including Stone Edge which stops Tornadous-T and other flying types. Machamp also has access to Bullet Punch which is a good priority for when Trick Room ends to revenge kill some Pokemon, mostly Terrakion. Its not all good for Machamp as 85 in both Defenses are good, but Reuniclus out speeds you under Trick Room and Alazakam will always KO you.

Scizor
Type:Bug / Steel
Base Stats: 70 HP / 130 Atk / 110 Def / 55 SpA / 80 SpD / 65 Spe
Abilities: Swarm / Technician / Light Metal

With its Steel and Bug type, Scizor has a good resistance to Stealth Rock and is immune to Toxic Spikes. Scizor has a ton of resistances, and its only weakness is Fire. With Technician, its STAB Bullet Punch can pick off a lot of weakened Pokemon and provides it with some good priority. I recommend that you use Swords Dance on Scizor because you can turn your Bullet Punch into an all-Out revenge killing move. U-turn is a fantastic scouting move for when Trick Room is up, you can just switch back into your Trick Room users. Lastly, Superpower lets you take out Heatran, Magnezone, Terrakion, Ferrothorn, Blissey and Chansey.

Donphan
Type: Ground
Base Stats: 90 HP / 120 Atk / 120 Def / 60 SpA / 60 SpD / 50 Spe
Abilities: Sturdy / Sand Veil

If your team is weak to Stealth Rock or needs to get rid of Entry Hazards than fear not, Donphan is here. With Rapid Spin, your team will have a better time switching in and out of the field. Donphan does not have to function as a defensive Pokemon on your team. Its Base 120 Attack is nothing to laugh at. With its STAB Earthquake and access to Stone Edge, Donphan can become a threatening sweeper. Donphan also has the priority move Ice Shard which is good for Dragons, Tornadus-T, Landorus and Gliscor who walls all of Donphan's other moves He is great against sun team with his STAB earthquake to climate Ninetales, and Stone Edge to dispose of Volcorona.

Breloom
Type: Grass / Fighting
Base Stats: 60 HP / 130 Atk/ 80 Def / 60 SpA / 60 SpD / 70 Spe
Abilities: Effect Spore / Poison Heal / Technician

Breloom is the only Pokemon in OU tier with access to Spore. This is great for Trick Room as you can put your opponent to sleep, and to set up Swords Dance and becoming a threatening sweeper. When playing with Breloom it is highly recommended that you use Technician, because your STAB Mach and Bullet Seed after a Swords Dance is enough to 2HKO almost every Pokemon in the OU tier if left unchecked. He is a good check to the likes of Tyranitar, Hydriegon, Heatran, Magnezone, Lucario, Kyurem, Mamoswine, Ferrothorn and Scrafty with Mach Punch. Breloom can stop some rain teams with him being a grass type, his Seed Bomb or Bullet Seed will threaten Politoed. You can still option for Poison Heal and Toxic Orb which will help prevent status but the extra boost from Technician will be better for your team.

Aggron
Type: Steel / Rock
Base Stats: 70 HP / 110 Atk / 180 Def / 60 Def / 60 SpD / 50 Spe
Abilities: Sturdy / Rock Head / Heavy Metal

If your looking for a Pokemon with some bulk Aggron is the Pokemon just for you. With his Steel type he brings a ton of resistances, including the ever useful resistances to Dark- and Ghost-tye attacks, which is great for a Trick Room Team. With its Base 180 Def, he can take a lot of hits with ease, but its not all glory with Aggron as he has two 4x weaknesses to Ground and Fighting types. Conkeldurr will be his main check with its STAB fighting type, but if you have Reuniclus on your team you can cover his weakness. Another great tool for Aggron is his STAB Head Smash; with Head Smash being a STAB Base Power 150 attack, and taking no recoil thanks to its Rock Head ability, he can tear through your opponents team.

Marowak
Ground
Base Stats: 60 HP / 80 Atk / 110 Def / 50 SpA / 80 SpD / 45 Spe
Abilities: Rock Head / Lightning Rod / Battle Armor

Just from looking at Marowak's Base 80 Atk you might be wondering why is he mentioned as a sweeper. Well it's because of Marowak's signature item, Thick Club, which doubles Marowak's Attack to over 500. Thick Club is just like a Choice Band except you can switch moves. Marowak is pretty bulky as well, as he sports a Base 110 Defense and 80 Special Defense, but its HP is only a Base 60. If you really want to boost Marowak's attack he can use Swords Dance to sweep an entire team. With a STAB Earthquake and access to Stone Edge and Fire Punch, its hitting a lot of types. Ferrothorn is hit hard from a Fire Punch who is a great wall to Marowak.

Crawdaunt
Water / Dark
Base Stats: 63 HP / 120 Atk / 85 Def / 90 SpA / 55 SpD / 55 Spe
Abilities: Hyper Cutter / Shell Armor / Adaptability

Crawdaunt got a new toy in Black & White, it's new ability Adaptability. With Adaptability it gives Crawdaunt's STAB moves a 2x boost. The choice of item is truely up to you. You can option for Choice Band for brute power but you will be locked into a move. You can use Life Orb and not be locked into one move but Crawdaunt's Base 63 HP isn't very well. Coming off of his great base 120 Attack, both of his STABs can plow through almost any threat in the metagame. Crawdaunt also has the Dark / Fighting combo which only three Pokemon resist that combo. If you choose to use Crawdaunt you should use him against Rain teams because its 2X STAB Waterfall gets a 50% boost thanks to the Rain.

Rhyperior
Type: Ground / Rock
Base Stats: 115 HP / 140 Atk / 130 Def / 55 SpA / 55 SpD / 40 Spe
Abilities: LightingRod / Solid Rock / Reckless

If you are looking for a bulky attacker with sky high attack and defense then Rhyperior is here. Just by looking at it Ground/Rock, Rhyperior sports two 4X weaknesses to Water and Grass but fear not its ability Solid Rock reduces its weakness by 1/4. With Rhyperior's Ground/Rock typing both Stone Edge and Earthquake are good STAB moves impressive base 130 Defense backed up by base 115 HP, and can even tank the occasional Water-type attack with Solid Rock and sun support. Its possesses a wide range of hard-hitting attacks, typically dual STAB EdgeQuake and Megahorn; additional options such as Substitute, Swords Dance.

Victini
Type: Psychic / Fire
Base Stats: 100 HP / 100 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Victory Star

Even though its Base 100 Speed is to fast for Trick Room, it's STAB Victory Star will lower its speed by One stage. Final Gambit is a great move with its Base 100 HP you will be taking out a lot of Pokemon. Victory Star should also be mention as it increases Victini's moves accuracy by 10%, which is good if you want to make Victini a special sweeper. Its Psychic and Fire typing is not a good typing because it leaves Victini weak to all forms of entry hazards and a weakness to Pursuit.

Conkeldurr
Type: Fighting
Base Stats: 105 HP / 140 Atk / 95 Def / 55 SpA / 65 SpD / 45 Spe
Abilities: Guts / Sheer Force / Iron Fist

Recommended Set
Toxic Orb
Brave Nature
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spd
- Mach Punch
- Hammer Arm
- Ice Punch / Stone Edge
- Facade

This Pokemon is probably the best Physical Sweeper for any Trick Room Team. He can be used in or outside of Trick Room, because of its STAB Mach Punch which is great for revenge killing. Hammer Arm is Conkeldurr greatest STAB move which will help you outspeed Ferrothorn under Trick Room. Ice Punch is here to get rid of those Dragons and Gliscor who likes to come in Conkeldurr. With its Guts Ability you reach a sky high attacking stat of over 500. Facade is highley recommended to get a good Base 140 hit because of Toxic or Flame Orb. So don't laugh at its Clown noise or else it might just be saying good game.

Scrafty
Type: Dark / Fighting
Base Stats: 65 HP / 90 Atk / 115 Def / 45 SpA / 115 SpD / 58 Spe
Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate

Scrafty's Dark and Fighting typing his STAB moves Crunch and Drain Punch hits all of the OU tier with neutral damage. Even though its Base 90 Attack isn't all that appealing Scrafty makes up for that with its ability Moxie. Every time he KOs a Pokemon he gets a +1 to his Attack which will make him a deadly sweeper. With Base 115 in both Defenses Scarfty can take hits with ease, but the only thing that hurts Scrafty is Fighting Types. Conkeldurr is by far a better sweeper than Scrafty, but what seperates Scarfty from Conkeldurr is that he can last longer on the field than Conkeldurr. The standard Trick Room Conkeldurr will only last 4 turns of Trick Room because of the recoil damage form its Toxic or Flame Orb.

2) Mixed Sweepers

The Mixed Sweepers are your wall-breakers or the Trump Cards for your team. They can eliminate your opponent's walls because of the wide move pool your Pokemon has. I highly recommend having a Mixed Sweeper on your team because your opponent will be kept guessing while you sweep their team.

Dragonite
Type: Dragon / Flying
Base Stats: 91 HP / 134 Atk / 95 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 80 Spe
Abilities: Inner Focus / Multscale

Recommended Set
Dragonite @ Life Orb
Trait: Multscale
Quiet Nature
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpA
Draco Meteor
Fire Blast
Superpower
Extremespeed

With Dragonite's new Dream World ability Multscale, it greatly improves it already great Bulk to another level. With Multscale grants it an easier chance to sweep and harder to be OHKO. Dragonite has probably one of the best move pool; ranging from Draco Meteor all the way to SuperPower. Dragonite has the combination of Dragon and Fire combo which is only resisted by Heatran which he covers with Superpower. With those three moves it provides Dragonite with perfect neutral coverage. Under Trick Room having the priority move ExtremeSpeed is great for Trick Room ends to revenge kill faster threats.

Tyranitar
Type: Rock / Dark
Base Stats: 100 HP / 134 Atk / 110 Def / 95 SpA / 100 SpD / 61 Spe
Abilities: Sand Stream / Unnerve

Tyranitar can be a great mixed sweeper and a stealth rock user. With the right moveset Tyranitar can hit all pokemon in OU with neutral damage. That's just shows how powerful of a mixed sweeper Tyranitar can be.Tyranitar can be used if you're trying to base your Trick Room Team into a sandstorm team. With the boost from the sandstorm even super effective water moves won't KO him. The only thing that holds Tyranitar back is his 4X weakness to Fighting type, which is very common in the OU tier so one must pack a Pokemon that resist fighting type.

Metagross
Type: Steel / Psychic
Base Stats: 80 HP / 135 Atk / 130 Def / 95 SpA / 90 SpD / 70 Spe
Abilities: Clear Body / Light Metal

The Pseudo Legendary from Gen III, is back as a Mixed Sweeper. Now its Base 135 Attack is great but you might want to look at its Base 95 Special Attack. Metagross sports some good special attacks to get rid of threats he wouldn't normally get rid of in his Physical Set. Hidden Power Fire, Grass Knot, Psychic are great moves to remove Physical walls that your team might have trouble with. Slowbro and Hippowdon are his main counter, as all of his Physical hits can never KO them. You should note that Metagross has access to Hammer Arm which he can use to get rid of Blissey and Tyranitar and it makes him slower under Trick Room.

Hounchkrow
Type: Dark / Flying
Base Stats: 100 HP / 125 Atk / 52 Def / 105 SpA / 52 SpD / 71 Spe
Abilities: Insomnia / Super Luck / Moxie

With Hounchkrow's Base 125 Attack and 105 Special Attack and Moxie, Hounchkrow is a great Mixed sweeper. With a Life Orb and Heat Wave he can KO Scizor, Skarmory and 2HKO Ferrothorn to get a quick +1 to his attack which will turn Hounchkrow into a deadly sweeper. Hounchkrow also has Sucker Punch to pick off weakened Pokemon and as a great priority move outside of Trick Room. Hounchkrow also posses Superpower to round off he Dark and Fighting combo, which means neutral damage to the Pokemon in the OU. The only downfall to Hounckrow is its weakness to Stealth Rock and its Base 52 in both Defenses.

3) Special Sweepers

The Pokemon that hits your opponent's team from the Special side. They tend to have very high Special Attacks. They also have a very wide range of coverage, and the only thing the Special attackers have to worry about are Jellicent, Blissey and Evolite Chansey.

Empoloen
Type: Water / Steel
Base Stats: 84 HP / 86 Atk / 88 Def / 111 SpA / 101 SpD / 60 Spe
Abilities: Torrent / Defiant

Empoleon should not be overlooked even if he's in the UU. He poses decent bulk combined with an excellent 12 resistances, immune to toxic spikes, and resist Stealth Rock. Empoloen 4x resistance to water moves is great when up against rain teams which are common in the OU. Empoloeon can easily abuse Hydro Pump in the rain to get some KOs. Empoloeon is able to hit bulky water types and Hippowodon hard with Grass Knot who would other wise wall him. Gyarados is the main counter for Empoloen, but that can be fix with Hidden Power Electric which will give Empoloen BoltBeam coverage.

Gastrodon
Type: Water / Ground
Base Stats: 111 HP / 83 Atk / 68 Def / 92 SpA / 82 SpD / 39 Spe
Abilities: Sticky Hold / Storm Drain / Sand Force

With Drizzle Teams in the OU your Trick Room team needs a counter to Rain Teams. Gastrodon in my opinion is the best choice to stop Rain Teams in their tracks. With its Storm Drain, every time your opponent tries to spam Rain boost Water type moves, you can switch straight into Gastrodon and your special attack is already over 300. Then under the rain your Surf becomes a Base 150 Attack which can KO a lot of Pokemon that aren't named Blissey or Chansey. As longs you keep Gastrodon in play, your opponent's Rain team will usually be resorting to trying to stop Gastrodon. You should run Hidden Power Grass to truely stop Politoed and Rotom-W who are very common on Rain teams. With Gastrodon, Romtom-W cannot touch Gastrodon unless he has Hidden Power Grass or Will-o-Wisp.

Magnezone
Type: Electric / Steel
Base Stats: 70 HP / 70 Atk / 115 Def / 130 SpA / 90 SpD / 60 Spe
Abilities: Magnet Pull / Sturdy / Analytic

MAgnezone is the only Pokemon with the most resistances of any type. Magnezone is widely known for his Magnet Pull to trap steel types and KO them with Hidden Power Fire. If your team has a dragon Pokemon and needs to get rid of steel types Magnezone is the perfect canidate for you. Magnezone is another counter to Rain Teams, with a STAB Thunder or Thunderbolt, Politoed and other water types will have to think twice about switching into Magnezone under Trick Room. Even though Steel is the worse offensive stat, a Flash Cannon from Magnezone can KO all version of Terrakion 81% of the time without Stealth Rock.

Heatran
Type: Fire / Steel
Base Stats: 91 HP / 90 Atk / 106 Def / 130 SpA / 106 SpD / 77 Spe
Abilities: Flash Fire / Flame Body

Heatran is a very dangerous Pokemon. With a base 130 Special Attack, an with access to strong STAB Fire-type attacks, excellent Fire / Steel typing, and immunity to Fire-type moves is a force to be reckoned with. Heatran also has access to Earth Power to hit other Fire-types and provide reasonable neutral coverage, as well as a Hidden Power Ice to hit flying types and Dragons. Heatran is also a good check to Sun teams and against Dragons. He also can set up Stealth Rocks to help your Trick Room Sweepers to sweep a lot easier.

Reuniclus
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 110 HP / 65 Atk / 75 Def / 125 SpA / 85 SpD / 30 Spe
Abilities: Overcoat / Magic Guard / Regenerator

Reuniclus is the most powerful Trick Room user. With its base 125 Special Attack, Base 30 Speed, and Magic Guard makes Reuniclus a large threat to most teams. With Magic Guard it prevents weather, status conditions. and Entry Hazards from wearing it down. Life Orb is the recommended item for Reuniclus as Magic Guard negates the recoil damage but you keep the Boost from Life Orb. Reuniclus powerful moves along with Life Orb can cause serious damage to any team who isn't prepared.

Chandelure
Type: Ghost / Fire
Base Stats: 60 HP / 55 Atk / 90 Def / 145 / 90 SpD / 80 Spe
Abilities: Flash Fire / Flame Body / Shadow Tag

Just looking at the Chandelure, you would expect it to weak and frail, but think again. What stands out, is its incredible base 145 Special Attack, which is the highest of any non Uber Pokemon. With its STAB Fire Blast he can really hurt a team, but as a Ghost type he can also set up Trick Room on its own. He can sweep with Fire Blast , Energy Ball, Hidden Power Ice, to force switches and punch holes through teams with ease.

Late Game Sweepers

In the OU, it is not recommended that make your Trick Room Team full of slow Pokemon because once all of your Trick Room users are fainted you need to have a Fast Pokemon that can handle the OU Tier. I can't stress this enough to have a successful. Now you might be wondering wouldn't that mess up the synergy with the other teammates on and totally mess up Trick Room Teams? No, because once your Trick Room users are fainted and you're left with your slow sweepers who will always go last you need something fast in the OU. Here is where it gets tricky, your ideal Late game sweeper should have at least Base 95 Speed or higher, anything lower is too slow. Not every late game sweeper works with every team you need to find the right one that has good synergy with your team. Remember to have a successful Trick Room Team you need back up revenge killers.

Sharpedo
Base Stats: 70 HP / 120 Atk / 40 Def / 95 SpA / 40 SpD / 95 Spe
Ability: Rough Skin / Speed Boost

The only other Pokemon with the ability Speed Boost that isn't banished to the Uber tier. Sharpedo can be used as a mixed sweeper or a physical sweeper to get some nice KO. The main point of using Sharpedo is to accumulate enough Speed Boost. If using Sharpedo you must get a Speed Boost to start out speeding Base 110 Pokemon without a Choice Scarf, and after two Speed Boost you can beat Choice Scarf Terrakion. You must remember however, its Base 40 Def, can easily be KOed by Mach Punch.

Salamence
Base Stats: 95 HP / 135 Atk / 80 Def / 110 SpA / 80 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Intimidate / Moxie

One the most dangerous Late Game Sweepers in the OU. With a Choice Scarf you easily out speed a lot of threats, but you should use Salamence late in the game. After just one boost to your Attack you become a powerful sweeper that can tear through the remains of your opponent's team. He easily can be a powerful mixed sweeper to abuse Draco Meteor to steal a +1 to attack but you won't be outspeeding any scarfers. If you don't like the idea of being locked into a move you can also use the Dragon Dance to get a +1 to outspeed all Choice Scarfers under Base 100.

Latios
Type: Dragon / Psychic
Base States: 80 HP / 90 Atk / 80 Def / 130 SpA / 110 SpD / 110 Spe
Ability: Levitate

With a Base 110 Speed he outspeeds Terrakion without a Choice Scarf. It speed ties Gengar and Alakazam. Coming off a Base 130 Special Attack a STAB Draco Meteor can demoslish almost anything in its way except for Blissey and Chansey. Its also a good check to Rain teams, because Latios resists the Surfs and Hydro Pump. Latios has recover to get some HP right back which is good against a Pokemon who doesn't pose a threat to Latios.

Infernape
Base Stats: 76 HP / 104 Atk / 71 Def / 104 SpA / 71 SpD / 108 Spe
Abilities: Blaze / Iron Fist

The Versatile monkey, is back from DP. With a Base 108 Speed, and being able to go Special, Physcial, or Mixed, its a very dangerous monkey to deal with. Just slap on a Choice scarf, and watch your opponents team go down. With its wide move pool, not even water types are same against Infernape. It has a balanced base 104 in both attacks which help its STAB moves such as Flare Blitz, Overheat, Close Combat.

Lucario
Base Stats: 70 HP / 110 Atk / 70 Def / 115 SpA / 70 SpD / 90 Spe
Ability: Inner Focus / Justified

Lucario, another versatile Pokemon. A little slower than most of the sweepers, but he can get around that with Agility and its two priority moves. With Agility, Lucario can out speed Choice Scarf Base 111 Spe Pokemon. If you don't want to use Agility you can go for Swords Dance Lucario. What sets this apart from most sweepers is after +2 from Swords Dance Lucario can KO Terrakion with just Bullet Punch and take out a lot of other Pokemon with either Extremeseed or Bullet Punch. Lucario is a steel type which resist Dragon moves, but Lucario can not take two STAB Outrage from any Dragon Pokemon so be advised when switching in to a Locked Outrage.

Haxorus
Base Stats: 76 HP / 147 Atk / 90 Def / 60 SpA / 70 SpD / 97 Spe
Abilities: Rivalry / Mold Breaker / Unnerve

Haxorus possess the monstrous 147 Base Attack which is nothing to laugh at. Slap on a Choice Band and watch as Outrage 2HKO the whole OU tier, but that's ill advised. Now at first glance its 97 Base Speed might not seem fast enough to out speed many Pokemon but Haxorus can make up for that and increase its attack with Dragon Dance. After +1 from Dragon Dance and with a Jolly Nature Haxorus reaches 483 which outspeeds all Pokemon under Base 130 without a Choice Scarf. After two Dragon Dance it is basically game over unless he gets revenged killed by priority moves.

Mienshao
Base Stats: 65 HP / 125 Atk / 60 Def / 95 SpA / 60 SpD / 105 Spe
Abilities: Inner Focus / Regenerator / Reckless

Mienshao has something that separates it among the pack, the ability Regenerator which means you can heal off nasty accumulated damage. Mienshao has access to Jump Kick with its 130 base power and STAB, it also has Fake Out which can give you a good free hit. U-turn is the great as it allows you to switch out, not take damage and be healed by Regenerator which will heal the Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage. Lastly Mienshao has a Base 108 Speed which is good to be late game or lead sweeper.

Hydreigon
Base Stats: 92 HP / 105 Atk / 90 Def / 125 SpA / 90 SpD / 98 Spe
Ability: Levitate

Hydreigon is another versatile Pokemon. Hydreigon has two excellent STAB moves, Dark Pulse and Draco Meteor, and with Fire Blast, SuperPower and Focus Blast, he really can be a mixed sweeper. You can put a Choice Scarf, Choice Specs, or Expert Belt on Hydreigon because of the many possibilities it posseses on your team. Hydreigon also possess U-turn, to come in and out of the battle field to pick off weakened Pokemon and switch back into your Trick Room users. But its recommended that you put a Choice Scarf to insure you have a chance of getting the first hit.

Terrakion
Basse Stats: 91 HP / 129 Atk / 90 Def / 72 SpA / 90 SpD / 108 Spe
Ability: Justified

Terrakion, is glue to most Trick Room teams. He is another fighting type Pokemon on your team, which can take out BLissey and Chansey. Also with Rock as its ability, he can spam Stone Edge to get rid Volcarona. He also has Rock/Ground combo which is good for hitting a lot of Pokemon. He is also another check to Sandstorm and Sun teams if you're having trouble with them.

Landorus
Base Stats: 89 HP / 125 Atk / 90 Def / 115 SpA / 80 SpD / 101 Spe
Abilities: Sand Force / Sheer Force

Landorus is another good Pokemon that can check Sandstorm teams. You can also utility Rock Polish to beat Choice Scarfers, but it's recommend to just put a Scarf on Landorus. With its Sand Force ability, you can expect a Fast sweeper with an added bonus if you run into a Sandstorm team. It also can scout with U-turn, which you can go back to your Trick Room users. Sheer Force should also be mention if you want to use Life Orb to clean up any leftover Pokemon on your opponent's team.

Garchomp
Trait: Rough Skin
Base Stat: 108 HP / 130 Atk / 95 Def / 80 SAtk / 85 Spd / 102 Spe

Now that Gensect banish to the Uber and Chomp is back into the OU we have another revenge killer. Slap on a Choice Scarf and it can revenge kill every Pokemon under Base 101 Speed with it's Choice Scarf. If Jirachi is a problem on your team, fear not a STAB Earthquake has Jirachi's name on it. Garchomp can be played as a Choice Scarfer or Swords Dance user. With Swords Dance you are busting the door wide open and making your STAB Outrage a 2HKO to the majority of the OU tier.

How to Counter Trick Room Teams

It's not hard to counter Trick Room, as the play style is very predictable,1st turn Trick Room, 2nd turn switch, 3rd-5th sweep, 6th Repeat. By using certain strategies, and using walls with certain moves, can make your team more Trick Room ready. It is important to have at least 2 Pokemon who have these moves on your team because a team ill prepared for Trick Room WILL get swept every time.

Taunt

This move will stop Pokemon from starting the Trick Room in the First Place. This is great against lead Trick Roomer, b/c once you stop them from setting up Trick Room they will be forced to switch out and that will give you the opportunity to Stat up or put up entry hazards. However, be careful because many Trick Roomers carry attacks meant to counter common taunters. This can make taunting less than effective.

Taunters include Gyarados, Gliscor, Whimsicott

Substitute

Probably one of the best moves to use after your opponent has successfully set up Trick Room. Because while your Pokemon is behind a Substitute you will stall out the Trick Room turns. Switching into a Trick Roomer when it sets up, and Subbing on the switch to a sweeper, then continuing to sub each turn until Trick Room runs out is a very effective strategy for dealing with Trick Room sweepers. However, be careful because your opponent will be breaking your Substitute and you will have to sacrifice your health and/or risk getting OHKO’d when you have no substitute if you opt to attack and fail to OHKO the receiver. Overall though, it’s very effective at countering Trick Room.

Good Substitute Pokemon - Gliscor, Jirachi, Breloom

Protect

The downfall of Trick Room is being limited to 5 turns in which sweepers have to KO your team. Protect can turn a 5 turn “sweepfest” into a stall match. Assuming you get lucky enough to be able to protect for 3 turns of Trick Room and force the sweeper to switch out.

Ferrothorn is his special wall, to sponge special hits. Its also his Pokemon to set up Entry Hazards onto the opponents side of the field. Swords Dance is to power up his two STAB Power Whip and Gyro Ball. Seeing how Ferrothorn is the slowest Pokemon in the OU tier, Gyro Ball is a Base 150 attack and with a Swords Dance boost Ferrothn can be a dangerous sweeper.

Celestial Beings-- Full Trick Room

Pulsar (Bronzong) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SDef / 188 Atk
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd

Bronzong ends up as lead because he packs with him Stealth Rocks which is good for racking up entry hazard damage.Earthquake and Gyroball are Bronzong's sources of direct damage. The EV spread on Bronzong is slightly interesting. Brave Nature with 188 Atk EVs allows Bronzong to OHKO any standard Heatran after Stealth Rocks (before Leftovers), as well as Magnezones.

Supernova (Porygon2) @ Eviolite
Trait: Download

Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room

Reuniclus is the best Magic Guard user to abuse Life Orb. With Life Orb you can start sweeping a team in a mere 3 turns. Psyshock is here to hit Chansey and Blissey hard on the defenisve side who want to wall Reuniclus with this big Special defense. The 160 HP EVs in HP is to give it a nice 401 HP which allows Reuniclus to eat Chansey's fourth Seismic Toss.

Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd

Event Hori (Slowbro) @ Lum Berry

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Draco Meteor
- ExtremeSpeed
- Fire Blast
- Superpower

Dragonite is here to break through walls. With Draco Meteor as the main STAB move, it is great for breaking defensive walls like Gliscor. Superpower is here for steel types like Magnezone and Ferrothorm that want to wall Dragonite after a drop in special attack. Fire Blast should be used before Draco Meteor b/c your special attack will be cut in half. Extreme Speed is there to pick off a weakened but powerful and fast Pokemon when Trick Room is down.

Into the Haboob

If your looking for a way to intergrate weather into Trick Room this sample team will be a great starting point for you.

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sandstream
Evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature [+Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Crunch
• Stone Edge
• Superpower
• Stealth Rock

Tyranitar is here for the infinite sand. With sand on the field you can be sure that your opponent's leftovers will be wiped away b/c of the sandstorm damge from Tyranitar. With the boost from Sandstorm, Tyrantar will more than likely be able to set Stealth Rock with ease without someone OHKO it. Superpower is for Blissey, Chansey, and Terrakion who want to shorten Tyranitar's rampage or to weak it. With Superpower Terrakion will no longer be a threat to your team, but you will need to switch Tyranitar out b/c of the -1 to attack and defense. Stone Edge is to hit Volcorano and other Pokemon weak to STAB Rock type moves.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 244 HP / 188 Atk / 76 SpD
Brave Nature [+Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Hidden Power [Ice]
• Earthquake
• Trick Room
• Gyro Ball
With Tyranitar's 4x Weakness to fighting types I need someone to patch up the weaknesses. Bronzong is a staple on every trick room team and for a reason. Bronzong is even more valuable in BW checking most of the sand sweepers , he has excellent bulk and good ability. We have the Offensive Bronzong on the team so we can get some suprise KOs, b/c most people think of Bronzong as a defensive mon.

Rankurusu @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
Evs: 160 HP / 96 Def / 252 SpAtk
Quiet Nature [+Sp Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Trick Room
• Psychic
• Focus Blast
• Hidden Power [Fire]
You can't have a Trick Room team with out this little guy. We all know the pain of dealing with Reuniclus and the Trick room versions throws a lot of teams for a loop. With it's magic Guard ability I don't have to worry about Reuniclus being hurt by entry hazards which is very good. Reuniclus is here to stop Tyranitar's Threats AKA Scizor and Conkeldurr from KOing my team.

Scizor @ Iron Plate
Trait: Technichan
Evs: 248 HP / 96 Atk / 164 SDef
Brave Nature [+Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Swords Dance
• Bullet Punch
• Bug Bite
• Brick Break

You want to break some walls and catch some pokemon off guard. Scizor is just right for this Sandstorm team, its good to stop those pesky ghost that want to start stalling and switching out to waste my Trick Room turns. I decided I need more sweeping and to abuse its Base 130 Attack. Scizor is the second physical sweeper on this team, he is used because its power to keep either offensive momentum or revenge kill.

Jellicent @ Water Gem
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp Atk
Quiet Nature [+Special Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Trick Room
• Hydro Pump / Surf
• Recovery
• Shadow Ball

With Politoed and rain teams running around the OU you need a counter to these threats. Jellicent with Will-O-Wisp is also needed to stop Physically attackers from tearing through your team. Politoed is completely walled by Jellicent as long as I switch back out b/c Politoed will Toxic Stall me. Jellicent is hear to somewhat counter rain teams unless its Rotom-W.

Heatran @ Air Baloon
Trait: Flash Fire
Evs: 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature [+Sp Attack, -Speed]
Moves:
• Taunt
• Fire Blast
• Earth Power
• Hidden Power Ice

Heatran is the finishing touch to the team. With Jellicent stoping the water pokemon, I have Heatran to stop the fire attacks to Bronzong and Scizor. He also has good synergy with Jellicent as they cover each others weaknesses. I chose Heatran because it can Dragon-types that pose a threat to the team. Without Hidden Power Ice, Heatran doesn't exactly pose an immediate threat,

Nice guide! I have to add that the Regis are definitely not to be overlooked though! (Well, except for perhaps Registeel which I feel works better outside of TR teams.)

I've had success with using Regirock and Regice under Trick Room. Once the low speed factor is removed from the equation, you're left with a pokemon who's secondary defenses are rather respectable at worst, jaw-dropping primary defense, and a primary attack stat high enough to punch holes in teams when used in tandem with their great coverage. One of my opponents had to learn this the hard way. His last words: "lol regirock"

I'm actually still trying to work out the kinks in Regirock seeing as how it's primary coverage moves lack perfect accuracy, but here's what I'm working with right now:

Regirock @ Life Orb
Nature: Brave
IVs: 0 Speed
EVs: 252 Atk/252 HP/4 Def
~ Stone Edge/Rock Slide
~ Hammer Arm/Superpower
~ Earthquake
~ ThunderPunch/Fire Punch/Stealth Rock

Regice @ Life Orb
Nature: Quiet
IVs: 0 Spe
EVs: 248 SpA/252 HP/8 SpD
~ Ice Beam
~ Thunderbolt
~ Focus Blast
~ HP Fire

The strategies should be pretty self-explanatory. Just switch in with the appropriate regi and slam your opponent with as many Super Effective moves as possible.

I think you're forgetting to mention Marowak as a decent Trick Room sweeper. It has Thick Club (like a Choice Band but can switch moves), is Groud Type (resists stealth rock) and has a good coverage.

In case you wanted another sample team, Celestial Beings is an amazing showcase of how a good Trick Room team functions. Since you wrote sample teams I figured you might want a 2nd one.

There are several stylistic, grammatical, and capitalization errors that you need to fix, but apart from that, this article is very good.
Two things, content-wise:
First, make sure you write something about Conkeldurr. He is, in my opinion, the best physical TR sweeper, because STAB Hammer Arm off that attack is nothing to laugh about.
Second, Xatu is a great TR setter because it cannot be taunted. That base 95 Spe becomes an advantage because it becomes "slow" under TR and can U-turn out to a sweeper untouched.
Finally, under counters to Trick room, I don't think you should encourage anyone to go for a triple protect except in emergency circumstances. One way to counter it is through something that I will call pivot switching. Example: they set up TR with Xatu and U-turn out to Reuniclus. You send in Tyranitar. You then switch out to a Tentacruel to take the focus blast for minimal damage. You then protect, and then send out Tyranitar again to take the Psychic. Of course, this is risky, but has always been, for me, one of the best ways to simply stall out the Trick Room

You should also mention, about Rapid Spinners for Trick Room. For instance, I know Claydol isn't OU, but he sets up Trick Room, has access to Stealth Rock, and has Rapid Spin.

I guess I'll mention him, but with Rain Teams in the OU Claydol will have a hard time.

BIG UPDATE to the Article. I've added a few recommended sets to certain Pokemon. I've added two NEW Sample Teams. I've still open to suggestions to help with this guide.

This is a really good guide Sciztar. You explain very well the points you need to help a person who is trying to make a Trick Room team. I like the idea you started on adding Recommended sets on the Trick Room users. You should also mention some types of teams that are threats to Trick Room. Stall Teams, Baton Pass, are some examples of teams that can cause Trick Room some problems.

Other than that this is a really good guide. A lo tof people will greatly appreciate this guide when this gets put on Smogon.

Victini deserves a mention as a Trick Room setter

Victini @ Fire Gem
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- V-create
- Final Gambit / U-turn / Brick Break
- Fusion Bolt

You should change the title to "Guide to Trick Room in BW OU", but otherwise this looks good.
Hey thanks man, that sounds much better than the one I have. I'll change the name.

Thanks Superpowerdude, I almost forgot about Victini.

Now that Garchomp is back in the OU, you can add him as a late game sweeper.
Thanks Slowking12, also Genesect has been banish, I had to drop him from the late game sweepers.

I update the Article and added a Noob Section to the Trick Room Guide

Nexus told me GP Checks.
Indeed, there has never been QC for articles.

GPing this. Sorry for the delay sciztar! This will be done in three parts because it's so long.

edit: I'm putting this on hold. I notice that this article spends a whole lot of time focusing on full TR teams which are not very good and well established players have always discouraged their use. After I get a good consensus with some people in #c&c and #pokemon I'll reconsider whether or not I'm going to finish this. I know that you started this article almost half a year ago and I know from experience that it's a pain to put this sort of thing together, especially one this long, but you really should find experts to help you out, because the experts I know have never recommended full Trick Room.

Yeah let some QC members / other people knowledgeable about OU take a look at this before proceeding with GP.
