I don't see where the downtime could come from apart from having to release the last Pokemon and equip an item when it could be automatic, but that player already has a 50% chance to be ordering first anyhow, and it's a Switch = OK Match so there's a decent chance we'll see every mon before a player is down to his last...

Round ONE

Dogfish releases Nimbus the Cyclohm, a frightening beast indeed, whilst deadfox sends out his trusty Chilla the Syclant, who swipes its claws experimentally at Nimbus a few times, gauging its agility. The two trainers toss their Pokemon an item to take into the battle—an Expert Belt for Nimbus and a mere berry for Chilla—and quickly dash into their protective compartments; Pokemon battles can take quite a toll on unprotected trainers.

Nimbus is the first Pokemon to move, throwing up a protective barrier, quite unlike the one protecting his trainer. Chilla doesn't seem too surprised by this, however, and changes tack, releasing a howling gust of freezing wind that batters Nimbus' shield like Tynamo in a certain Cliff of Thunder. Chilla jumps back quickly and sets up a protective shield herself, protecting her icy body from the arc of fire that Nimbus shoots out from his main head. Seeing the burst of fire dissipate, Chilla lowers the shield warily before launching a tirade against Nimbus, mocking him for his inability to deal damage, successfully taunting the Cyclohm into a rage; unfortunately for Chilla, Nimbus roars and spouts out a fiery jet of red-hot flames, dealing tons of damage!

Round TWO

Dogfish recalls Nimbus, opting to send in another Electric-type Pokemon into the field—Murena the Eelektross! Murena even gets the same item!

Chilla anticipates some single-target attacks, and shifts quickly from one place to another, creating what appears to be five Syclant all at once! Completely bewildered, Murena chooses one of them at random and fires off a jet of fire; unfortunately for her, the Syclant she targets simply dissipates! All four Syclant smirking a bit, they proceed to throw Spikes all over the arena, preparing to hurt Dogfish's Pokemon on their switch-in! Murena doesn't seem too concerned at the moment, firing a silver ray of light at another one of the Syclant; like before, however, the target simply vaporizes, leaving three Syclant. Chilla then unleashes a freezing gale of ice, sleet, and hail at Murena, who takes the blow and immediately shoots another jet of flame at another Chilla; this one, however, causes all the other Syclant to disappear, and even leaves the real one with a burn! Chilla eats the other half of her berry, but her fate doesn't seem too great...

Round THREE

...and we're seeing yet another Pokemon recall, this time initiated by deadfox; unlike the previous round, however, there is no counter-switch, meaning Dogfish gets the advantage of ordering second twice in a row! We'll see what he does with that boon!

Bones the Armaldo, armed with a Smoke Ball, wastes no time at all and hurls an energized rock at Murena, getting a nice hit on the flank; the rock seems to have some strange properties, though, as Murena suddenly crashes to the ground and is unable to levitate itself back up! Peeved by this turn of events, Murena twists her head around towards Bones and shoots out a small spark of electricity, paralyzing the Armaldo!

Now faster despite having to move around on the ground, Murena coils herself around before rapidly uncoiling, managing to whack Bones with her powerful tail, somehow imbued with the energy signature of water. Bones, too late to react, digs underground, only to pop up seconds later underneath Murena and deal some decent damage. The same thing happens again.

Round FOUR

Another switch happens, but the switch-in falls onto the layer of Spikes below it and takes some damage. Cool.

Paul, armed with a purple-pink egg, fires off three beams of silvery light at Bones, dealing tons of damage the first two times and even more damage the third time! Bones doesn't have as good of a time; he's fully paralyzed after the first beam of light, deals paltry damage—but does manage to get rid of the egg—after the second, and throws rocks maniacally around the arena after the third; it's almost as if we could accompany this scene with some tribal dancing and drumming, looking at the way Bones is throwing those rocks around.

Round FIVE

Despite the paralysis that Bones is suffering, he still manages to pump tons of adrenaline from his glands, which somehow prevent him from fainting for a variable duration of time! Paul seems to find a possible way to circumvent this, though, and it all begins with emitting a high-frequency supersonic wave; its low accuracy is a source of consternation, though... but not this time, as it hits Bones straight on, causing the most intense confusion possible!

Looking as smug as a trio of magnets can be, Paul fires off another beam of gray light at Bones, but he barely hangs on; fighting hard through his confusion, Bones manages to summon a massive earthquake that hits the entire battlefield—Paul, in particular—for tons of damage! Realizing that these seismic attacks hurt quite a bit, Paul exerts a rather large amount of force to levitate itself off of the ground with electrical forces; this doesn't end up being useful, however, as Bones manages to ignore his confusion for the second time in a row and rush forward, smashing the Magneton quite hard.

Arena: ASB Arena Dogfish44* Eelektross (F) Eelektross [Murena] (F) Nature: Quiet (+1 SpA, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion) Type: Electric: Electric STAB; 50% reduction in paralysis chance from other electrical attacks, perfect accuracy and 30% chance of Protect breaking Thunder during Rain. Superior senses in power plant environments. Abilities: Levitate (Trait): This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. The two trainers toss their Pokemon an item to take into the battle—an Expert Belt for Nimbus and a mere berry for Chilla—and quickly dash into their protective compartments; Pokemon battles can take quite a toll on unprotected trainers. Nimbus is the first Pokemon to move, throwing up a protective barrier, quite unlike the one protecting his trainer. Chilla doesn't seem too surprised by this, however, and changes tack, releasing a howling gust of freezing wind that batters Nimbus' shield like Tynamo in a certain Cliff of Thunder. Chilla jumps back quickly and sets up a protective shield herself, protecting her icy body from the arc of fire that Nimbus shoots out from his main head. Seeing the burst of fire dissipate, Chilla lowers the shield warily before launching a tirade against Nimbus, mocking him for his inability to deal damage, successfully taunting the Cyclohm into a rage; unfortunately for Chilla, Nimbus roars and spouts out a fiery jet of red-hot flames, dealing tons of damage! Murena even gets the same item! Chilla anticipates some single-target attacks, and shifts quickly from one place to another, creating what appears to be five Syclant all at once! Completely bewildered, Murena chooses one of them at random and fires off a jet of fire; unfortunately for her, the Syclant she targets simply dissipates! All four Syclant smirking a bit, they proceed to throw Spikes all over the arena, preparing to hurt Dogfish's Pokemon on their switch-in! Murena doesn't seem too concerned at the moment, firing a silver ray of light at another one of the Syclant; like before, however, the target simply vaporizes, leaving three Syclant. Chilla then unleashes a freezing gale of ice, sleet, and hail at Murena, who takes the blow and immediately shoots another jet of flame at another Chilla; this one, however, causes all the other Syclant to disappear, and even leaves the real one with a burn! We'll see what he does with that boon! Bones the Armaldo, armed with a Smoke Ball, wastes no time at all and hurls an energized rock at Murena, getting a nice hit on the flank; the rock seems to have some strange properties, though, as Murena suddenly crashes to the ground and is unable to levitate itself back up! Peeved by this turn of events, Murena twists her head around towards Bones and shoots out a small spark of electricity, paralyzing the Armaldo! Now faster despite having to move around on the ground, Murena coils herself around before rapidly uncoiling, managing to whack Bones with her powerful tail, somehow imbued with the energy signature of water. Bones, too late to react, digs underground, only to pop up seconds later underneath Murena and deal some decent damage. The same thing happens again. Bones used Smack Down! Bones doesn't have as good of a time; he's fully paralyzed after the first beam of light, deals paltry damage—but does manage to get rid of the egg—after the second, and throws rocks maniacally around the arena after the third; it's almost as if we could accompany this scene with some tribal dancing and drumming, looking at the way Bones is throwing those rocks around. Paul seems to find a possible way to circumvent this, though, and it all begins with emitting a high-frequency supersonic wave; its low accuracy is a source of consternation, though... but not this time, as it hits Bones straight on, causing the most intense confusion possible! Looking as smug as a trio of magnets can be, Paul fires off another beam of gray light at Bones, but he barely hangs on; fighting hard through his confusion, Bones manages to summon a massive earthquake that hits the entire battlefield—Paul, in particular—for tons of damage! Realizing that these seismic attacks hurt quite a bit, Paul exerts a rather large amount of force to levitate itself off of the ground with electrical forces; this doesn't end up being useful, however, as Bones manages to ignore his confusion for the second time in a row and rush forward, smashing the Magneton quite hard.
