Switch=OK
Items=On
Abilities=All
Arena: Potential bug gym
A large network of webs are suspended high in a huge dome. Concrete platforms hold the webs up and allow the trainers to get close to the cage.
-Stone Edge and Earthquake work as normal
-No natural water
-No natural rocks
-Grounded non-bugs have a permanent -1 Evasion and -5 Base speed
-Bounce will fail
-Only bugs and levitating/flying grounds can use Dig and Fly
-All Pokemon may hold a type resist berry in addition to their normal item. This can be consumed by consumption or Bug Bite but not by Thief, Incinerate, or Knock Off.
Now, let's meet the teams.
Entering now, the challenger.... DANMANTINCAN!
And his team:

Sanaki - Volcarona (F)
Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Types: Bug/Fire
Bug: Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gains an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.

Abilities:
Flame Body: (Innate) This Pokemon’s external temperature is kept at such a high level that any contact attack used on this Pokemon has a 30% chance of burning the opponent.
Swarm (DW Unlocked): (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any Bug-typed attack is increased by 2. (eg Silver Wind goes from 6 to 8, X-Scissor from 8 to 10)
Levitate: (Trait) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) If a Pokemon with Levitate uses Role Play, they will copy the opponent's abilities and retain Levitate.

Types: Fire/Fighting
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, 50% reduction in freeze chance, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.
Fighting: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Blaze: (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33%, the base damage of any fire attack is increased by two (2). (eg Flamethrower goes from 10 to 12, Fire Blast from 12 to 14)
Speed Boost (DW Unlocked): (Innate) Pokemon with this ability increase their speed as the battle progresses, boosting it one (1) stage at the end of each round at the cost of 2% of their energy. This overrides the normal drop in stats that ocurs at the end of each round (stats other than Speed are still affected).

Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Hustle: (Can be Enabled) This Pokemon puts immense force and speed in its physical attacks, increasing the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by three (3), but the haste used lowers their accuracy to 80% of normal.
Serene Grace: (Innate) This Pokemon has a blessing which doubles the success chance of its attack’s secondary effects. (eg paralysis from Thunderbolt)
Super Luck (DW Unlocked): (Innate) This Pokemon’s natural skill increases its critical hit levels one stage above other Pokemon, making its normal moves inflict critical hits 12.5% of the time and its high critical hit moves inflict critical hits 25% of the time.

Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm, highly insusceptible to toxic attacks, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, can be magnetized. Superior senses in high-metal environments like construction sites or factories.

Technician: (Innate) This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).
Light Metal: (Innate) The Pokemon's body is made of a lightweight but extremely strong alloy. It weighs half as much as other members of the species, but is equally sturdy. The Pokemon executes weak attacks much more effectively, adding +1 priority to all their attacks with 6 or less Base Attack Power (after other ability adjustments). Priority is applied to the summed Base Attack Power of a multi-hit move (e.g. Double Kick has priority at 6 BAP, Skill Link Bullet Seed doesn't at 15 BAP.)

Who will prevail? Only time will tell.
(Note, I am treating this like a gym battle, including a coin flip to see who goes first.)
Now let's see who goes first.
Heads- Rediamond Sends Out, Danmantincan Sends Out and Issues Actions, Rediamond Issues Actions.
Tails- Danmantincan Sends Out, Rediamond Sends Out and Issues Actions, Danmantincan Issues Actions.
Now the coin flip...

And It's Tails!
Danmantincan, Send out your first Pokemon!

Let's kick things off with Calill, holding a Focus Sash! Since I've been informed that the berries are taken form the environment, Calill will grab a Coba Berry.

"I must welcome you now to the Verde Insect Research Facility, one of the most prominent facilities on the planet for studying the bug type. Insects are all around us. In fact, they are the most numerous type on the planet in terms of individual members, and they can be found in almost any condition. Perhaps I can show you one of the rarer specimens that we keep in the insitution."

With a simple raise of the researcher's hand, the sound of beating wings began somewhere far below in the dome. Within thirty seconds, an enormous fiery moth beat its way through the webbing and into the cage where it picked up a Copa Berry and stared down the opposing fire type.

"Now, you may notice this particular fire-type is carrying an odd piece of stone with her. Volcarona are naturally stronger in ranged conditions, and this one is carrying a piece of armor to make up for her weakness up close. Perhaps we will see it in action."

IF damaging flying move in a combination, use Roost and push actions back

Sorry, I don't like to do this, but it is rather important. Focus Sash wasn't included in any of the calculations against Calill. And on a smaller note, Bug Bite (against Calill) was given Neutral effectiveness instead of being at 1/4 effectiveness.

Sash only activates beneath 50% right? Only the last attack should've sent it into that threshold, meaning that it actually didn't matter. And Bug Bite should've done a bit less. I'd actually like to see this corrected, as that could minorly change my orders if Blaziken does have a few more HP.

EDIT: Live and learn. Yeah, I definitely want to reorder when this is fixed.
EDIT2: It was factored in.

Unless to Focus Sash entry in the DAT is wrong, Focus Sash is in play while ABOVE 50% health, which is why the hurricane had 10BAP, and the Psychic only had 8, and the Hidden Power only had 5. I did however somehow manage to miss the bug bite resistance however. It will be fixed.

My mistake, I didn't see the -2 in all the calculations so I thought it wasn't factored in.

Flamethrower~Flare Blitz+Acrobatics Combo~Cool Down

IF Flare Blitz+Acrobatics isn't allowed for whatever reason, use Flare Blitz+Aerial Ace.

Round 3

The universe surely has many mysteries. Is there life out there? Is there a God? and more importantly, what the hell I am doing in an oversized web with no prospective of finding food around?

Rediamond: I don't mean to be rude, but I don't care. Just ref.

Ah thank you for reminding me of this. you adorable you.

WHOA---DEJA VU!

erm...back to business.

We have here Callil the Blaziken vs Flare the Volcarona. Blaziken starts with a rather...weak Flamethrower and Flare responds by smacking Blaziken around with Psychic.

After that the opportunity arises for Flare to end the matchup. And of course it chooses to Roost. Oh well. That gives Callil enough time to focus on a Combo. She uses her Acrobatic skills to attack Flare from all sides with flaming punches and kicks and what-not. With a Flare Circus.

...it was a nice view, but in the end Volcarona survived and the Blaziken...didn't get the same luck. Tough cookies, I guess.

Blaziken: Flamethrower: 5 + 3 + 1.5 = 9.5 damage for 6 energy
Crit: 8 (no)
Bu--oh wait.

Volcarona: Psychic: (10 + 4.5)*1.5 = 21.75 damage for 7 energy
Crit: 2 (no)
SpD: 10 (no)

Volcarona: Roost: +20hp for 12 energy

Blaziken: COMBO (Flare Blitz + Acrobatics): ((14+6)+3+1.5)*1.5= 36.75 damage for (9+7)*1.5 = 24 energy
Crit: 5 (no)
NOTE: Since in ASB Focus Sash isn't consummable, I assume it stays with the pokemon and just doesn't work. Hence the 6 Base Power for Acrobatics. If you disagree, let me know and say why and I'll think about it.
Recoil: 12 damage
Rocky Helmet: 9 damage

Round 4

Flash the Volcarona, as the badass it is, goes HIGHLANDER (too old for you?) with Endure thatbrokenmove. Marcia the Togekiss has no chance. It tries Air Slash Thrice but doesn't manage to KO the volcarona, that, with one mere hp manages to Eat Marcia's Berry with Bug Bite and set up Tailwind.

But now Endure is gone and Marcia is mad. Let's see what happens.

Volcarona: That broken move..erm...Endure for 15 energy

Togekiss: Air Slash: (4 + 3 + 2 + 1.5) = 11 damage for 5 energy
Hit: 50 (yes)
Crit: nah

Volcarona: Bug Bite: 6+3-3=6 damage for 3 energy
Crit: 13 (no)

No more Charti berry for you!

Togekiss: Air Slash: (4 + 3 + 2 + 1.5) = 0 damage for 9 energy
Hit: 6 (yes)
Crit: nah

Volcarona: Tailwind: extra speed for 10 energy

Togekiss: Air Slash: (4 + 3 + 2 + 1.5) = 16 damage for 13 energy
Hit: 8 (yes)
Crit: nah

The Fiery bug left the beans in the oven and it ended up Overheating. Togekiss tries to salvage the meal by getting an egg on a nearby Roost and cooks it in ExtremeSpeed. But Flare gets too hungry and faints.

Didn't make sense? Well it was better than saying "Flash the Volcarona gives a last stand attack with Overheat and Marcia the Togekiss Roosts to get some hp back and then ends the match-up with ExtremeSpeed.". I mean, reffing attacks is so boring. I'd much rather ref food.

Volcarona: Overheat: 14 + 3 = 17 damage for I don't really care energy
Crit: 5 (no)

Togekiss: Roost: +20hp for 11 energy

Togekiss: ExtremeSpeed: IT DEALS ENOUGH DAMAGE for 5 energy
Crit: for the love of god.
0.25 recoil. Gets lost in the rounding.

Extremespeed should've inflicted recoil, if it is a contact attack. Minor, but fun.

"With Gonambrasia volcarona fainted, let's introduce the next bug in our demonstration today. Walking in behind me is Nomen armaldo, an extinct bug species that has been brought back to life through the wonders of technology. At the moment, scientists in this facility are attempting to create a comfortable environment for it, and study how it might survive in a modern ecosystem."

Armaldo @Brightpowder+Rindo Berry (grass resist)

Thunder Wave~AncientPower~Flamethrower
If Armaldo uses Stone Edge, use Counter.
If Armaldo uses Substitute, Encore Substitute (once). This has priority over the first substitution.

"Not much is known about Armaldo, as their revival was rather recent. However, it is known that they have bulky and powerful bodies, but are less adept at dealing special attacks that are now assumed to have been less common during that era. Humans later developed a technical machine that helps to close the gap."

Protect~Sandstorm~Rock Blast

IRC consensus appears to be that since rock blast is not specified as requiring natural rocks, it does not need a natural rock source. If this is declared invalid for whatever reason, I would like to change Rock Blast to Smack Down... and remember the bug STAB bonus given to rock slide (look it up in Armaldo's description).

The Gym Leader sends out now Diego the Armando to combat Togekiss, with the help of Volcarona's Tailwind. On the first turn it protects itself to avoid paralysis, making Marcia's Thunder Wave fail.

Possessing superior speed, Armaldo sets up for the next attacksby summoning a mighty Sandstorm to help it handle some attacks. Like Togekiss's Ancientpower, which was boosted by the Expert Belt.

Finally, Armaldo goes to attack mode and summons 4 boulders and use them to attack with Rock Blast. Thanks to anime precedent (the best I could find), Rock Blast doesn't use actual boulder...but some weird white blocks of magic sand or something like that (see bulbapedia for reference). Marcia, despite the damage suffered, manages to fight back with Flamethrower getting a much needed burn in the process.

Armaldo: Protect for 7 energy

Togekiss: Thunder Wave for 7 energy - failed

Armaldo: Sandstorm for 9 energy
