ALL HAIL THE KING (AN OU HAIL RMT)

ALL HAIL THE KING:

muro_pokemon_bw_kyurem_by_gashu_monsata-d30ca1s.png

Whats up smogon ? This is another so called “GeneHail” Team made my me and my first RMT. Just so you know I was NOT inspired to make this by the original genehail team made by Mosquiton though his team is great I have to say. This team has bought me moderate Success on the ladder and I hope to improve it with your help.

Team Buliding:

So the main point of this team was to pair these 2 big threats Genesect and Kyurem together.

Hail suited this combo best so Aboma came in to get the hail up.

Keeping Aboma and Kyurem alive is almost impossible without a spinner so in came Tentacruel to fill that gap and toxic opponents to oblivion.

Now that I had a revenge killer, a special sweeper and a spinner I needed something that could rip holes in the opponents team before Kyurem and others could get their jobs done. I also needed a physical sweeper so in came Dragonite to tear massive Holes in teams and to sweep if given the Chance.

Mamoswine took the last slot to patch up a few weaknesses and to check Garchomp.

And There we have it.

Strategies for each Poke:

Abomasnow (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Snow Warning
EVs: 216 Atk / 200 SAtk / 92 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Wood Hammer
- Ice Shard
- Blizzard

Abomasnow is obviously an absolute necessity for any hail team. Unforunately, it isn't exactly the best to use in OU. This set, however, can both set up hail as well as counter some of the most common in the metagame. This set absolutely tears apart those annoying Volt-Turning cores, as Rotom-W, like any Water-type, can't hurt Abomasnow only to get Wood Hammer'd back. Scizor, on the other hand, is lured in for a free U-Turn on a apparent "Choice Scarfed" Wood Hammer, and cleanly OHKOed by Hidden Power Fire.. Abomasnow also takes on Dragonite with Ice Shard, which OHKOes every common Dragonite set after Stealth Rock.

Kyurem @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 236 SAtk / 216 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Blizzard
- Focus Blast
- Dragon Pulse

Kyurem is in my opinion currently one of the best to use in OU, especially in hail. With those beastly attacking stats, nothing is safe. Jirachi is the only thing that can switch in repeatedly to all sets, because Bronzong is quite easily worn down while Chansey and Blissey easily fall to an Outrage. This set works so well because it can set up a Substitute against a surprising amount of pokes, thanks to its surprisingly great bulk. 125 Base HP is certainly nothing to mess with, and especially not when combined with base 90 defensive stats on each side. Kyurem also has a rather nifty typing, because thanks to its -typing it resists both Water- and Electric-type attacks, letting it set up on a numerous amount of such as Rotom-W and Jellicent

After the Sub is up, it's time to start wrecking. Even without a Choice Specs or a Life Orb, Blizzard and Pulse do tons of damage. Nothing that likes taking two Blizzards or Pulses to the face takes a Focus Blast well, with the only exceptions being Blissey, Chansey, and Jirachi. However, if I predict a Chansey switching in and it is at 71% or lower, I can try my luck with Focus Blast to 2HKO! Thanks to Chansey lacking Leftovers and Hail hurting Chansey, Focus Blast always 2HKOes 71% Chansey after two rounds of hail damage and one round of Stealth Rock damage.

56 HP is a key number because it lets Kyurem set up 101 HP Substitutes, as well as letting it switch into Stealth Rock five times. The Speed EVs let Kyurem outspeed Lucario and everything slower, while the rest of the EVs are dumped in Special Attack for more power.

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Extremespeed
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

This Dragonite set is more oriented towards the hit-and-run strategy. It is similar to Scizor in this aspect, except that ExtremeSpeed has better general coverage and around the same amount of power as Bullet Punch. With a Choice Band, Dragonite becomes a monster, capable of blasting apart walls and tearing large holes in both offensive and defensive cores. Outrage is the primary offensive tool of this set, capable of steamrolling through everything that is not a bulky Steel-type and puncturing through the highest of defenses. ExtremeSpeed is a huge boon to Choice Band Dragonite, allowing it to act similar to Scizor in that it can pick off almost any weakened Pokemon that does not resist it. Fire Punch has excellent coverage with Outrage, hitting the Steel-types that resist it hard. Earthquake rounds out Dragonite's coverage by smacking Heatran and Jirachi in rain.

ani073.gif

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Toxic
- Scald
- Protect
- Rapid Spin

This set uses Tentacruel's ability to Toxic bulky pokes and spin hazards away, making it a nice addition against those teams that make use of rain. As an additional bonus, Tentacruel can absorb Toxic Spikes on your side of the field simply by switching in. Its Water and Poison typing, along with its great Special Defense, enables it to switch into a variety of attacks in order to set up hazards or spin them away. Recovering 12.5% of its health every turn in the rain, Tentacruel can then become very difficult to take down. Scald is Tentacruel's best STAB move, offering an excellent 30% burn rate to offset Tentacruel's poor Defense stat. Protect is the primary option for the last slot, as it allows Tentacruel to recover another 12.5% of its health in the rain, while scouting the opponents move, and forcing them to take Toxic damage.
Using Speed EVs may seem unorthodox for a defensive Pokemon, but adding 44 EVs in Speed allows Tentacruel to outspeed Timid Magnezone and Adamant Breloom, who would otherwise pose a dangerous threat. The rest of the EVs are added into HP and Defense so that Tentacruel can take physical hits better.

Pokemon-Genesect-250x289.jpeg

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Download
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- U-Turn
- Bug Buzz
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower

The Revenge Killer of the team, the best addition from BW2 for the metagame, and an offensive core. This thing is an incredibly effective revenge killer and offensive pivot. With great base stats, outstanding coverage, Download, and access to U-turn, I couldn't ask any more of this thing (but 99 base speed…).

U-turn is for STAB and scouting basically the bread and butter of any Scarf Genesect. With a Download boost, this actually has potential to do some serious damage. +1 kills off Latios and does work on Tyranitar.

Flamethrower, T- Bolt and Bug Buzz is for coverage and lets me revenge kill almost any poke in the metagame. I don’t use ice beam because whats Kyurem and Aboma for? And bug buzz hits hard on everything that doesn’t resist it.
Nothing else to say…

473.jpg

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Icicle Crash? (God knows which to use)

Due to its base 130 Attack and potent STAB combination, Mamoswine can work as an effective physical attacker with strong STAB moves and priority. Icicle Crash and Earthquake are its strongest STAB moves, hitting many important Pokemon, such as Salamence and Virizion, for super effective or neutral damage. Mamoswine makes great use of Ice Shard, which separates it from many other physical attackers. With Ice Shard, Mamoswine can cleanly revenge kill several of the most prominent Pokemon in the game, including but not limited to Breloom, Landorus, Latios, and many others.
Mamoswine can make use of several other physical moves on this set as well. Earthquake is an excellent STAB move, hitting many Pokemon harder than its other STAB moves can. Stone Edge in tandem with Earthquake creates an excellent combo that hits even more Pokemon for neutral or super effective damage.
The EVs for this set are nearly self-explanatory: maximum Attack and Speed EVs allow Mamoswine to hit as hard and as fast as possible, while the remaining 4 EVs go into HP to slightly increase its bulk.
I needed SR somewhere on the team and Big Mamo was the one who checks threats and fills the SR dent.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, this team helped me discover a newfound love for Kyurem and Mamoswine both of which can be absolute monsters at times. Being able to utilize both of those amazing Pokemon as well as this team’s overall ability to catch people off guard has made using this team a really fun, enjoyable experience. Thank you for taking the time to read this RMT and if you decide to use this team I hope you enjoy using it as much as I have!

p.s there is no importable and I will edit the threat according to the changes I make so just revisit the thread to see changes in the team.

this took some time and hard work so please read and give your comments and a luvdisc. Thank You :)

I would use Stone Edge > Icicle Crash because you already have two pokes that are firing off Ice attacks, and Mamoswine can still use Ice Shard for threats like Breloom and Salamence. Stone Edge is good for the Therians and other Ice types, as well as having a better move to deal with bulkier Dragons or even Fire types with an Air Balloon.

A more strategic option would be Icicle Spear. With this move, you can break substitutes and deal a nice chunk of damage to anything. It's also good for breaking sashes on Alakazam, and Lead Terrakion. This move however, is not the best to be used on a Life Orb set, but it's still very useful.

Lastly I think you have a typo for Mamo. I think you meant 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd. I would also recommend using an Adamant Nature over Jolly, because the only thing your going to be out speeding with a Jolly nature, is a Jolly Breloom and a Timid Heatran both being rare, Timid Heatran being very rare. Mamoswine will greatly appreciate the boost in power, and he'll need it in this current meta game.

I know this was a pathetic rate, but I might come back later and finish the rate. Good luck!

Thanks for the rate Gary2346

I think i agree with the stone edge>icicle crash. im not really sure about the icicle spear mamoswine cause ive never seen one bit i'll definately give it a try.

i know that Mamo needs the extra power of Adamant nature but i may need jolly to pick apart other Mamo's (they are getting a bit more famous now) in case they try to stop a late game sweep from your truly Big Mamo so im not ready to give up Jolly just yet.

Hey Kid Darkness,

As you said in the beginning of your RMT, the goal of this team is to abuse Genesect and Kyurem. Dugtrio would fit that purpose well, seeing as it traps Jirachi and Heatran and it can trap some Terrakion sets too. Mamoswine looks like the most replaceable member, since Dragonite can deal with Breloom and Virizion and Abomasnow's Ice Shard Ohko's Landorus and Salamence after Rocks/Hail damage too, while being able to revenge Lati@s too. I'm not sure if a Focus Sash set would be as effective on a Hail team, so you might want to try an Earth Gem set. It can Ohko Terrakion in any case and Jirachi (unless it's a physically defensive Jirachi) after either rocks or hail damage. Dugtrio can also be helpful in trapping stuff like Ninetales and Tyranitar, winning you the weather war.

Since this takes away Ice priority that'd ohko Garchomp, you might want to replace either Bug buzz or Thunderbolt with Blizzard on Genesect. Opposing Genesect are also a problem to the team. You might want to slash Substitute with roost on Kyurem. This'd make it easier to repeatedly switch it in on Genesect since Kyurem is your best bet as a switch in.

Scarfed Terrakion seems like a big problem to your team as well. You might want to replace Tentacruel with a Physically defensive Forretress. Kyurem, Abomasnow and Genesect deal with rain pretty well so that's why I feel like tentacruel is replaceable. This way you could also lay down both spikes and stealth rocks, giving you an easier time abusing Genesect.

Hope I helped.

tl;dr :

Mamoswine --> Dugtrio

Genesect:
Bug buzz/Thunderbolt --> Blizzard

Tentacruel --> Physically defensive Forretress

Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef

Thanks for the rate Eranu.

Theoritacally Dugtrio may be able to fit in the team But losing Mamo to it may not be the best option because it can do all that Dugtrio can with the ice shard advantage. Dugtrio+Hail isnt the best combo because Dugtrio cant get a safe switch in on anything and the main reason dugtrio is used is arena trap + focus sash which is not gonna work on a hail team. Dugtrio fits well on everything other than Hail. Also your mentioned Scarf Terrakion OHKO's it. Mamo also checks other Mamo which is a big threat to my team.

Forretress is an interesting option but spikes + SR means i have to keep a ghost type on the team to block rapid spin and nothing can leave for a ghost type to come in. having forretress increases my fire weakness meaning scarfed fire type users completely wreck the team.

lastly i need a spinner which is there to stay. the reason i used Tentacruel over Starmie in the first place.Forretress Strudy is also broken in hail meaning its a lot easier to kill

Aboma cant go all out offence on this team cause it means i loose the weather war so i cant loose out on Tentacruel.

Opposing genesect can be countered with prediction cause they are lured in when they see aboma and an HP fire after SR damage can usually OHKO.

Scarf Terrakion is a problem but im trying to see if i can play around it at the moment

i will definately be trying Blizzard/Ice Beam on genesect though.
