Hi everyone, this is my first RMT, so don't be afraid to tell me whats wrong with it so far. I'll take all the help I can get! That said, its been doing ok as is, (wins 7 in 10 so far, ok not great)
So without further ado
The Team
Charlie Murphy (Porygon2) @ Eviolite
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Trick Room
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
Fairly standard defensive porygon2 trick room. As many (but maybe not enough) know, eviolite Porygon2 can take a few hits. Trace comes in handy so often, multiscale, intimidate, magic bounce, water absorb, flash fire etc can all be used back on the opponent. Its use varies from game to game, trace poison heal after a toxic for some outrageous tanking capability. Sometimes used as a lead depending on the line up, but far more useful to revenge the likes of multiscale dragonite or landorus-T and set up trick room later in the game. Bolt Beam coverage and Normal typing to absorb the odd shadow ball directed at reuniclus. Speaking of...
Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 196 HP / 60 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room
- Psychic/Psycho Cut
- Focus Blast
My second Trick Room setter and strongest Sp Attacker. Energy ball is there predominantly for rain and sand teams. Focus blast is notoriously unreliable but provides vital coverage. Stab psychic as move of choice, helpful in disposing of the ever-present fighting types who otherwise kill my crawdaunt.
Trick James (Crawdaunt) @ Life Orb
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Superpower
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Taunt
Trick James. Charlie Murphy can take hits, but Trick James dishes them out. Crawdaunt is my favorite pokemon and I'm amazed I don't see him on other trick room teams. His speed and bulk have always been his downfall, but his attack combined with adaptability is just immense. So instead of compensating with a jolly nature and dragondance, this crawdaunt's got a bit more bulk and even more attack. (speed being pointless on a trick room team). Actually my best sweeper, under trick room he just tears through other teams. psychic types like lati@s, celebi and mew, ground/rock types are eaten for lunch. Immune to psychic attacks, this guys got conkeldurr's back. Plus there's the added satisfaction of an RU sweep that you just don't get with pokemon like
Uncle Touchy (Conkeldurr) (M) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Def
Adamant Nature
- Hammer Arm
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Facade
Operating in and out of trick room this guys role in the team is pretty essential. He raw bulk and power provides a plan B where my other pokemon fail. Another status absorber and a physical powerhouse.
Bronzong @ Macho Brace
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Trick Room
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
My last bulky trick room user, and the only physical one of the 3. I just started using him with this new team, but Bronzong has really grown on me since his Sinnoh debut. Immune to entry hazards, poison and ground. Enough resists and bulk to take a hit before setting trick room, he's even got the capability for a late game sweep. Gyroball with macho brace rips through "faster" oponents and the number of non ballooned heatrans I've killed under trickroom with EQ is actually stupid. Stealth Rock for stupport
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
- Taunt
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Replacing Marowak, after only 4 test battles. Heatran's synergy with Bronzong has already won me a couple of battles. Intercepting fire moves directed at zong with flash fire and switching out in earthquake anticipation to bronzong's levitate have them forming a tidy defensive core. Fireblast also deals with the steelmons I had trouble with before. Scitzar's guide to trick rooms has proven itself invaluable indeed!
Final thoughts:
Still having issues with rain stall and priority taunt users (who i'm learning to deal with). Aside from that, no red flags at the moment with the new edited team. Trying Machamp in place of Conkeldurr to mix things up a little. I know he's less highly rated, but I'm having some fun confusing the opponent at the mo. And so far, it doesn't seem detrimental to the team's overall... dynamic
Machamp @ Life Orb
Trait: No Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- DynamicPunch
- Ice Punch
- Bullet Punch
- Stone Edge
Edit - Trying Slowbro for Crawdaunt, and eruption on heatran instead of taunt. Though this will deprive me of both my taunt users, so we'll see how it goes... Machamp is working nicely, he isn't quite as powerful or bulky as conkeldurr, on the other hand, their shared predictability tends to force the same switches and dynamic punch has won me a few (not many) games. I'll keep shuffling team mates till I land on a really solid combination, although its not doing too badly at the moment.
