Basically, for some time, there have been many pointless arguments on #capasb about Counter-farming. Basically, there had been a spike in flash-matches like "Burn the Bellsprout", "Crush the Combee", & similar matches, where the idea is that the match seeker asks to set up a match where the opponent is encouraged to bring a Pokémon that has a decisive advantage over a Pokémon the seeker wants to train. The idea is to then lose against the opponent as fast as possible in an attempt to gain counters. Needless to say, this has apparently become a big issue, where players are not battling in the spirit of ASB, & instead, battling for counters.
Texas Cloverleaf outlined a proposal here to try & stop such matches from occurring, by giving Project Moderators the power to revoke counters from a user who played a match for counters. The official definition being:
[BOX]Project Mods have the power to veto blatant counter farming matches. Should a PC approver think a match is counter farming, they may check with a project mod and then render a veto verdict.[/BOX]
What this means is that if a user has been deemed to play a match with the intent to gain counters as fast as possible, & without care of whether they lose or not, they may be liable to have the counters they earned from that particular battle revoked by Project Mods. Needless to say, the intent of this power is to stop matches in a similar vein to "Burn the Bellsprout", & "Crush the Combee", & only said matches. I would like to stress that the huge majority of matches will not be affected by this power — Only the matches in a similar vein to what I already mentioned.
This received an overwhelming majority to move directly to a vote, but enough talk, time to what matters the most: The vote.
Council members will only vote on one thing, with a single vote conducted: Should we give Project Moderators the Power to veto, or revoke counters from matches deemed as Counter-Farming?
Your options are:
[BOX]Give Project Moderators the power to veto matches deemed as Counter-Farming
Do not give Project Moderators the power to veto matches deemed as Counter-Farming[/BOX]
If the former is chosen, then the public should now think twice about "Crush the Combee"-style matches, as Project Moderators will be able to revoke counters. If the latter is chosen, nothing will change.
First to 4 votes is majority, time to vote!
