Water Y Team

Hello everyone. I recently started playing pokemon showdown after being recommended by my friend. Since it is my first time playing competitively I started off with loses and loses... At the beginning I kept remaking my teams and forming up new teams to cover up for my weakness. It is until recently I formed a team which i get rather comfortable on, however i still feel something is missing here and there, hence i hope you all to give me some opinions to enhance my team.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Substitute

When i first made this team, I used Ferrothorn as the first pokemon, however I later on replaced it with Breloom due to strength toxic orb + facade + spore + sub combination, which can defeat fair amount of pokemon. Normally during battle i will use spore at my first move (provided i know the opponent is slower than me) follow by sub. As toxic orb is activated in the 2nd turn, facade will be used on any non-fighting weak pokemon. Facade will take down a bulky pokemon within 2 or 3 hit. However it is extreme vulnerable to ghost type. If ghost type or quick pokemon is thrown in at the first turn, Politoad will be thrown in next.

Politoed @ Life Orb
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Politoad will only be used when Breloom tactic fail and the start of Rain team. Basically i don't have much to say about this as politoad is used mainly for it's perm rain which is vital for my remaining pokemon.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm Nature
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Scald
- Toxic

Most of my tactics revolve around Vaporeon due to it defensiveness. Basically i used it as a special wall for my team during rain. With Hydration ability, Vaporeon is nearly immune to all status during rain. Rest is exploited as it will only take a turn for Vaporeon to wake up. Toxic will take down bulky opponent which my team cannot defeat. Scald is effective against steel type which cant be poisoned for it 30% chance of burning them. Ice beam is useful to take down grass, dragon type and flying type which switch in.

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Flash Cannon

I replaced my old Ludicolo with Empoleon due to my team lack vulnerability against physical dragon type move such as outrage. I made my Empoleon defensive mainly due to this reason, however it is still very weak against fighting and ground. This pokemon also choosen mainly because it is the only water steel type and i need a extra water attacker.

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch

Toxicroak is excellent in rain team as it can easily heal back damage done due to it's Life orb in rain. I choose Ice punch than sub as it is not common among toxicroak which i manage to caught some dragon user off guard. Sucker punch with +1 piority to revenge kill any low hp attacking pokemon, sword dance to boost attack when opponent is using wall or hazard setters. Drain punch is used against normal type and ice type and also for HP replenishment.

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Grass Knot
- Thunder
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Flying]

I first used Weather ball raikou during team making, which then it is replaced with choice scarf Tornadus and finally replaced by Thundurus-Therian. I choose Thundurus over Tornadus due to it having STAB electric and flying which my team heavily need and furthermore it is immune to elec. Thundurus is normally thrown in to revenge kill or when the opponent is about to use ground/elec attacks.

Thank you guys for reading this. I do appreciate you guys to give me some comment and suggestion. I welcome any criticism or suggestion which is relevant. (And sorry for my pathetic language command).

Hey man, nice team.

This is an excellent and well presented rain team, using a real underrated threat in Swords Dance Toxicroak, so props for that. However, there are some flaws in this team that I see, and hopefully my rate will improve those flaws and improve this team overall. With all that said, let's get to the rate. Alright, first up, I would like to suggest changing Brelooms EV spread to one of 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe and using an Adamant Nature over your current spread and Nature. This EV spread gives Breloom an HP number divisible by 8 for Poison Heal and the rest is put into speed for outspeeding uninvested base 100s. Staying on Breloom, I would like to suggest running Seed Bomb over your current choice of Facade. With your current set, you are walled by the most common wall out there, Jellicent. Seed Bomb helps gives you a way to deal damage to Jellicent. Moving forward with the team, I would like to advocate the use of Roar over your current choice of Flash Cannon on Empoleon. Roar helps out your team with those always annoying phazers. Next, I suggest using Volt Switch replacing Grass Knot on Thundurus-T. It's a matter of personal preference, but Volt Switch is a good STAB move and gives you a good way to get out of a jam. Finally, I would like to suggest running a Timid Nature over your current Modest Nature. The Timid Nature is used for outspeeding Choice Scarf Salamence, Jirachi, Haxorus and Hydreigon. Well, that's all I have to say for now. I hope my advice helped. Have fun and good luck in your future endeavours!

Great team you have there, your Vaporeon really got my dragons good :) Thing is, Vaporeon won't be so great WITHOUT rain. So I think you should consider Rain Daince > Ice Beam. Maybe Surf > Scald. You really don't want to burn the likes of Latios and other special attackers with Recover.

Maybe you want a Mach Punch on either Toxicroak or Breloom. Yes, Sucker Punch does work, but you saw it yourself, Bounce makes Gyarados immume to it, while it does OHKO you.

Doesn't Thundurus learn Hurricane? You could replace HP Flying for it. Also not really sure how you will handle Ferrothorn.

Just my two cents :)

Haha I sort of remember you for your bouncing Gyarados. Thank you for your advice i will consider it and Thundurus can't learn hurricane unfortunately, the main reason I did not use fly is due to it is a physical attack and my Thundurus is build with special attack. As for Ferrothorn my Breloom should be able it handle it :P.

Maybe use acid armor instead of icebeam on your vaporeon set.
This makes him nearly unkillable bij any pokemon.
Set up on their wall and after 2 acid armors kill the entire team with scald and toxic.
