Inanimate Blob

Slakoth [Bum] (M)

*yawn* Slakoth doesn't do much, except eat and poop. But he's a decent battler, I guess... *snore*

Nature: Naughty (+1 Atk, -1 SpDef)
Type: Normal
Normal: Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.

Abilities:
Truant: This Pokemon is naturally lazy, and becomes Sluggish after every normal action. This effect takes place after completing any normal (e.g. non-Sluggish) action. If this Pokemon uses a move that would inflict Sluggish, it instead becomes Exhausted for the next action. When Exhausted, its Confusion stage will not be checked and it will not hit itself in confusion during the second action. It recovers 3% energy when Exhausted. If this Pokemon uses a Combination, it becomes Sluggish or Exhausted on the action following the cooldown of the combination. Truant can be altered or shifted by Skill Swap, Role Play, Gastro Acid, or Mummy, but is not changed by Entrainment, Simple Beam, or Worry Seed.

Unoriginal Name

Budew [Bouquet] (F)
Nature: Timid

Type: Grass/Poison
Grass: Grass STAB; immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.
Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

Abilities:
Natural Cure: (Innate) This Pokemon’s body has the ability to heal itself of status afflictions over time, it goes into effect six (6) actions after being inflicted with a status. In switch battles, this Pokemon heals all status effects when switched out.
Poison Point: (Can Be Disabled) This Pokemon’s spikes/quills/thorns are coated in poison, and there is a 30% chance of poisoning any foe that uses a contact attack on this Pokemon. When disabled, all of this Pokemon's attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison (with the same chance of effect).
Leaf Guard: (Innate) In bright sunlight, the Pokemon is surrounded by a faint green glow. The glow protects it from all permanent and temporary status conditions. (DW) Inactive

I try not to fail (otherwise known as reffing!)

Since this is my first reffing, I won't focus on flavor (i.e. pretty much none unless I am especially inspired to write some), unless one of you wants me to, in which case I will be happy to oblige!

Hey, my name is Unoriginal Name for a reason :P Anyway, thanks for reffing! It's odd, I reffed your first battle, and am battling in your first reffing.

Budew @ Amulet Coin, thanks.

Worry Seed would be a dumb idea, and Budews are made for status spam, so...
I wish this thing had Sunny Day to stop the chance of Blizzard. Ah, well.

Stun Spore ~ Toxic ~ Leaf Storm
IF Encore any action, AND Budew did not Protect last action, THEN Protect that action, PUSHING BACK.
IF Yawn any action, AND Budew did not Protect last action, THEN Protect that action, PUSHING BACK.

Meh. Protecting is kind of so-so, but it may help.

I ref!

If you see any problems with my reffing, I'll be on for most of tomorrow, so just message me and I'll be happy to fix it!

Actually, 2 staged stat boosts/drops remain for the end of the round, and start the next round off at that, as they last for 2 actions (unless otherwise altered, but we needn't get into that). So, Budew will have -2 SpA for the next round, and then -1 SpA for the end of the round, into the next round. Stat boosts are complicated, I know.
Data Audit Thread said:
+2 and +3 Stat Boosts/Drops (Swords Dance, Tail Glow, etc.) and +2 or +3 Boosting/Dropping components of other moves (Shift Gear's Speed boost, etc.) changed from 0 last for at least 2 actions after the usage action before being prone to resetting toward 0.
DAT Example said:
Slash ~ Fury Swipes ~ Swords Dance

Zangoose will have no stat boosts at the time of either Slash. At the start of the next round, Zangoose will have +2 Attack. At the end of the next round, Zangoose will have +1 Attack.

Scratch (Sluggish)-> Blizzard -> Scratch (Sluggish)

IF Budew uses a non-attacking move other than Blizzard on A2, use Encore.

Since this is a boring, one-sided battle, I'll use this opportunity to teach you something, Houndoomsday, since it confused me at first.

Truant is one of the worst abilities in ASB - not because it's as bad as in-game, but because of how complicated it is. Sluggish means I can't use an attacking move with more than 5 EN cost and a non-attacking move with more than 7 EN cost. :)

Mega Drain ~ Protect ~ Mega Drain

Sorry for the confusion, Houndoomsday. Stat boosts and Truant-like abilities are the 2 most confusing parts of ASB (unless we get into Pain Split priority combos on Gravity users with Tailwind and 3 typings from the arena, but that's a whole other story) I'd bet you. Thanks for going to the trouble, though!

And hey, I thought it'd be less one-sided than it turns out to be. If Blizzard could be used during Truant turns, though, this may have been more interesting...

Yeah, honestly I had trouble with this at first, especially just finding anything written down about sluggish (which I eventually did). Thanks for marking the sluggish turns though, it really helps!

And just my luck: a "simple" 1v1 has all icky rules stuff :P

I probably will ref this tonight, but if I get too tired in the middle I'll probably just shelf it for tomorrow!

Phrased poorly, but still, make sense grammatically, hence making it valid.
So he should have used Blizzard. You need to recalculate the Energy (-8 EN for Slakoth, (8 + 7)= -15 EN for Budew). Slakoth should end up at 74 EN, and Budew at 64 EN.
Otherwise, looks good. I'll edit in orders in a minute.
Edit:
Mega Drain ~ Mega Drain ~ Mega Drain
IF Blizzard, AND you did not Protect last action, THEN Protect that action.
IF Yawn, AND you did not Protect last action, THEN Protect that action.

I'm still confused, to be honest. Budew used "a non-attacking move other than Blizzard on A2", therefore should he still use encore on A2, right?

Other than the action he used Blizzard on, aka a2. If he left the "than Blizzard" part out, then it would make more sense.

Here, let me show you what I mean:
Before:
IF Budew uses a non-attacking move other than Blizzard on A2, use Encore.

After:
IF Budew uses a non-attacking move other than on A2, use Encore.

Rephrased:
IF Budew uses a non-attacking move not on A2, use Encore.

That's what he meant. However, if you wish, I see logic in your decision as a ref to count that differently and, if you choose, to keep it as-is. Your choice in the end.

Edit: Oh, so that was inanimate's intention/typo, as shown below. Sorry for the confusion, the reffing is fine as-is!

I'm still confused, to be honest. Budew used "a non-attacking move other than Blizzard on A2", therefore should he still use encore on A2, right?
Right. Slakoth should have used Encore on A2, and it should have failed, since my command basically said Budew using Blizzard (I meant to say Protect but my bad :3 Whoops).

Blizzard -> Scratch (Sluggish) -> Flail

So in hindsight I think I should have just made inanimate re-order, as it was an ambiguous/illegal(?) (because Budew cannot learn Blizzard) sub. As it stands inanimate said I reffed it as his intentions were (aside from Blizzard meaning Protect), but that's not really a good way to ref because it had two interpretations because of the formatting/usage of Blizzard instead of Protect, and inanimate could potentially benefit from my interpretation, because Budew has less energy, and Slakoth has more, but only marginal amounts, in both cases.

I will leave it as it stands, unless Unoriginal wishes to dispute it, because it's a total difference of 9 energy, and reordering a round after it happens would be messy.

And then I was ninja edited on...

I'll ref this sometime tomorrow (roughly 12 hours from now if you want a specific time :P), as I want some time to look over some ASB matches to get a bit more background in reffing (especially if I can find a few dealing with tricky mechanics), and in addition had a very full day today in real life and just want to chill for a couple of hours.

Unoriginal Name: 2 CC
Bouquet: 1 EC, 1 DC, 2 MC, 1 KOC

inanimate blob: 1 CC
Bum: 1 EC, 1 DC, 2 MC, 1 EC or DC of inanimate blobs choice

Thanks for guiding me through my first battle everyone! It was a lot of fun, and I (hopefully) didn't screw up that much!

Budew had an Amulet Coin, and Slakoth had a Lucky Egg, so Slakoth should get one more EC or DC (his choice) and I 2 CC total. Other than that, perfect prizes from what I can see.

Thanks for reffing!

I screw up the easiest part XD

The funny part is, I had you at 2 CC, took a small break to do laundry, came back and saw that you had 2 CC. Forgetting about the Amulet Coin, I thought I made an error and switched it back to 1CC...

Anyways, thanks again for putting up with my bad reffing, and good playing!
