I've been using this team on the shoddy ladder for a bit, and I must say, it has done far better than I thought it would. Its gotten me into the 1200s but I'm starting to wonder if it could be better.
Like the title says this is a mono ghost team, so please dont suggest pokemon who aren't ghosts.
First up:
Mismagius @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 160 HP/ 98 SpA/ 252 Speed
Nature: timid
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Will-o-Wisp
Coppied from a team Lee has as reccomended by Gorm. It looks like it will be a large benefit to the team and I can't wait to try her out.
Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252hp/76def/108sdef
Nature: Careful
- Fire punch
- Ice Punch
- Will o' wisp
- Pain split
I've absolutely loved Dusknoir on prior teams and he was part of the inspiration for the mono ghost team. However, his performance here has been lackluster. I need fire punch as he is the only person on my team to carry a fire type move... although it doesnt see much use. Ice punch is there for extra coverage on Garchomp and friends. WoW and Pain split are there for obviouse reasons of crippling non-guts attackers and recovery.
Froslass @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252satk/252speed/4hp
Nature: Timid
- Desteny Bond
- Spikes
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
Added spikes over confuse ray... mono ghost means no rapid spinning will be happening at all. (Aside from foresight blastoise as Gorm said.) Should be a nifty new trick to try out.
Also as a side note... many people underestimate froslass, she out speeds garchomp and packs a stab'd ice beam (that means OHKO). An excellent revenge killer as they rarely switch out the chomp when they see her.
Gengar @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 136 Atk / 156 SpA / 216 Spe
Nature: Hasty
-Explosion
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Punch
Life Orb Gengar for late sweeping as Gorm suggested. I prefer Focus punch over blast on this set as people rush to their blissys at the sight of Gengar most of the time... and punch hits harder than blast.
Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs:252hp/252def/4satk
Nature: Bold
- Calm mind
- Hypnosis
- Shadow Ball
- HP (fighting)
(this is the change you had in mind right Gorm?)
Very effective set on a wonderful pokemon. No weaknesses + 3 immunities mean spiritomb will switch in just about whenever he pleases. Setting up a CM or 3 then resting off dmg and status then talking in his sleep. Many underestimate this I've had him as my last guy and killed my opponents remaining 4 guys with him.
Last but certainly not least is:
Rotom @ Choice specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252satk/252speed/4hp
Nature: Timid
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- HP (fighting)
- Trick
Rotoms goal in life is to give Blissy and other annoying people a shiny pair of choice specs. Unfortunatly a blissy with choice specs gets to 2HKO Rotom with Ice beam most of the time... so he doesnt get to stick around long after. He also packs quite the puch should he choose to hold onto his specs and throw some stab'd tbold or shadow balls. HP (fighting) is there to give him a fighting chance (lol pun) agains incoming dark types.
Well there you have it. Any thoughts, compliments, suggestions, critisism, or jokes are welcome. Thanks in advance!
Changes in bold. Many thanks to Gormenghast. And thanks to Lee for coming up with the Mismagius lead.
