Welcome to TAY and Junior’s Strikeout Tournament!
Here you will be tested on both your ability to adapt to a rapidly changing metagame and your ability to build teams under restricted conditions. In this tournament, the number of allowed Pokemon will become fewer and fewer each round, and you can stop your opponent from using a certain Pokemon as well!
How does a Pokemon become unavailable?
First, the tournament committee will ban two Pokemon each round. The two Pokemon selected will be the two which were used the most in the previous round. For this reason it is very important that battle logs are sent to both Junior and myself. Pokemon removed in this way will be unavailable to all players for the duration of the tournament. In lieu of a statistical strikeout in the first round, Garchomp will be banned.
Second, in each round you will be able to Strike Out a Pokemon from your opponent’s choices in that round. You can use your strikeout to eliminate a key threat, or remove a pesky wall to clear the way for your sweepers. Your selection will not be restricted in any way, but remember that your choice will likely clue your opponent in to what kind of team you are running! Make your choice and build your team wisely. Pokemon removed in this way will be unavailable only to your opponent in that round and only for that round.
Striking Out your opponent's Pokemon
In order to strike out one of your opponent’s choices, simply PM either Junior or myself with your matchup, the Pokemon you wish to strike out, and the affected player. I know some of this information is redundant, but it will make it much easier to read and will save us from wasting time looking up matches. Here is a sample PM:

Sign-ups will last for two days from the time this is posted, or until there are no spots left. If you have any questions or problems, feel free to contact me or Junior via PM or by posting in the current Strikeout Tournament thread.
There are tentatively 32 spots, though if there is enough interest then that number will be increased to 64. It is unfortunate but likely likely that substitutes will also be necessary.

Good Luck to everyone!
EDIT: Something which was too dumb to think of before: when you send you strikeout PM, include the name of your match in the title. Otherwise we'll have a hell of a time going through PM's and matching with the proper pair. I was also stupid enough to neglect the possibility of two players sending their PM's to different people (i.e. one to me and the other to Junior), so until further notice, all Strikeout PM's should be sent to me.
EDIT AGAIN: To top it all off, I didn't consider that it is fairly common for not all pokemon to be shown in a match. To remedy this, I would like both players in each match to include a list of their six team members when they send in battle logs. I know it's a hassle, but there is really no other way to get this done. I don't see this being a huge problem competitively, but if you have a big problem with doing this I'm not going to force anyone to submit anything outside of their battle log (Though it isn't like me and Junior could steal your team with no moves, natures, EVs, etc even if we wanted to).

We will only forward the PM’s once we have received decisions from both players. If you wish to change your decision, simply send a PM to the same person you did before telling him so; however if you have already found out what your opponent has stopped you from using, then you will not be able to change your decision. Do not send your Strikeout PM directly to your opponent. We need to have this information in order to ensure that each player follows the rules, and to ensure that both PM’s are received simultaneously.TAY vs Junior
Striking out Sunkern from Junior.
Rules
- Sleep Clause
- Freeze Clause
- Evasion Clause
- OHKO Clause
- Species Clause
- Self-KO Clause
- No Scouting. I realize this is less relevant since teams will likely be changed each round, but If a player asks you to leave their match, you must do so.
- Battle Timeout must be on and will be enforced.
- Battles must be played on Shoddybattle.
- All logs should be saved and sent to BOTH Junior and myself, regardless of whether both players confirm the result.
