Organize RMT forum

I tried searching for this, but that proved to be a hazardous search.

Brief Explanation:
Organize the RMT forum to have sub-forums for each type.

Reasoning:
Not all players are experienced in each of the tiers of battling. By organizing the forum so that there are more sub forums, raters and team makers alike can focus on the specific tier that they are accustomed to.

How this benefits the site:
By organizing the RMT, someone that is new to the tier can find other teams that are on the their they are interested in. By viewing teams they can get a general idea of what to look for on the tier of battle. This allows for a quick overview, and an easier accessability to current teams for a certain tier.

Negatives of this idea:
If one plans on sorting the previous teams, it will take time and effort of the moderators. Creating the new forums doesn't take a lot of work, but the sorting can be tedious and boring.

Well, so much for a first thread, though a reader for a few months.

yeah subforums for tiers in rmt would work (considering we have subforums in stark), but then again I doubt everyone would post their team in the right forum (I mean some people do make sub-standard rmts to boost their post count)

This definitely would relieve the strain on RMT mods, and it would mean Haunter wouldn't have to give up the speed of his Choice Scarf as being locked into one move wouldn't matter.. err I mean sub-forum?

In all seriousness though, I think this wouldn't be too difficult to implement and would benefit everyone.

Sorting out past RMTs could potentially be problematic (there are 472 pages in the RMT forum....). If there is some way to make sorting out RMTs easier, or if it is decided not to sort them at all... I'd think it would be a great idea.

If sorting becomes a hassle I'd be willing to help out with it.

Previous RMTs would be left alone unless there was a group of people willing to move threads in which a project, similar to the recent C&C organisation project, would take place but on a larger scale -- this just does not sound feesible, especially with the RMT forum's popularity.

I believe something like this has been suggested before. Sub-forums per tiers could work, but honestly, how many RMTs do we get from other tiers per week compared to OU? Not a lot I would say. Then again, Stark Mountain is in a similar boat, but UU seems more dominant.

Yeah, that's my only concern. Other than some UU teams, and some uber RMTs every once in a while, the RMT forum is mainly used for OU RMTs. That being said I wouldn't be against this separation, as long as admins are fine with it.

Also:

I think this is a good idea, as long as it was well enforced -looks at Haunter expectantly xD-

Lol guys. And I carry trick along with choice scarf, so don't worry about me being locked into one move :P

Might UU and Uber subforums encourage people to post UU and Uber RMTs? And also benefit raters who are most interested in those metagames.

Simple solution to all 472 pages of the RMT Forums, all teams that haven't been posted in for (n) amount of time will be mass purged, and all other teams will be moved into the respective catagory.

Anyway, this would be good for me, as I can only really rate OU Teams.

But teams from a long time ago, or from suspect tests that have already finished, are a snapshot of how the metagames were back then. If we deleted them, then nobody could look to them to see, for example, what the Garchomp era was like, or how Manaphy was used during its suspect test. We would lose a lot of valuable information if we lost all those teams.

Instead, it would be good to create another subforum of Thread Cryonics that would house all those 472 pages of teams. Any new teams would go into the sorted RMT subforums.

I thought that's what the rmt archives were for?
Is their anyway you can stop people from making new threads, while people could still post in the threads already there?

There is no reason to purge all the old teams in the RMT forum. If anything, they would be left in the main forum.

Most forums allow you to lock a forum from posting, or require a certain rank to post, and you can change the permissions from the admin control panel. All you would have to do is take away posting privileges to mass users, turn it on for the sub forums, and viola. Though, making a post for the users to explain what happened also helps.

I'm in favor of this - I only play UU atm so when I'm looking to rate a team (or just look at some for a 'snapshot') I usually have to go through a dozen or so OU teams before I finally find a UU one (I understand that tiers are meant to be specificed in the title but that doesn't always happen).

I'd be willing to sort out the bulk of the thread moving too if we deem it to be neccesary - like people have been saying there aren't too many non-OU teams in the forum so it probably won't be as big a job as '472 pages' implies (although still a mammoth undertaking but the RMT forum has quite a few dedicated staff members atm so I'm sure we've got this).

Furthermore, would it be absolutely necessary to move threads after, say, 50 pages into the forum? Its a safe bet that those threads are going to be inactive, and therefore can be purged if that is the desired course of action.

I think this is a pretty good idea. It could be split like the Stark Mountain forum was. Also, the older RMts could be left in the main thread (like in stark) and use that as the OU place to post. Then just create the other 2-3 (UU, Ubers, LC) and just move THE most current/active threads (of tiers other than OU) still left in the main to their respective sub-forums.

I'll volunteer to help move the current RMTs to a sub forum, I have nothing better to do, lol.

This sounds like a great idea. It'll help raters out a lot when looking for teams to rate and it'll be much more organized.

It's really good to know that suggestions put forth in actually get started soon after being suggested. A lot of forums that have a Suggestions forum take 6 months to activate anything new. Keep up the good work, can't wait till this is completed.

There will be no "thread approval". If people post their team in the wrong sub-forum (which shouldn't happen anyway), we're just going to move the thread in the right place.

You could always use Thread Approval in the RMT section if they're coming in the wrong location ?

It shouldn't be that hard to tell where to post your team. If you can read, you can figure it out. If you can't, you might want to master that before trying to play Pokemon, lol.
