My first team and my first post... (Ubers)

Hi, I'm Nestryle. A lot of months before I am already building my team, even as a beginner. I haven't finished my OU and UU teams so I decided to post my Ubers team first. The article about Uber battling absolutely speedup the making of this team!

The team's purpose is stated on this paragraph by the order of the pictures above:
The Lead starts this off, commonly using it's blazing ExtremeSpeed and a Uber powerful stab Draco Meteor! After that, he falls, rests as the other pokemon sweep the game. The Encorer then tricks the opponent to repeat an attack! That makes The Stat Upper sweep better! Sometimes, a wall will be encountered! Do not fear, The Wall Breaker is here! Oh no, mispredictions killed one of the members! Fortunately, The Revenge Killer is to the rescue! What! The opponent used time to send in a heavy hitter! The (not so) Great Wall is here to help, though.

THE LEAD

Rayquaza @ Focus Sash
"Raynard"
EVs: 40 Atk / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Hasty Nature
-ExtremeSpeed
-Draco Meteor
-Brick Break
-Fire Blast

Rayquaza: Lead Rayquaza is a good lead, as ExtremeSpeed kills faster pokemon. For example, Draco Meteor does not OHKO Mewtwo but by using ExtremeSpeed, it kills. Another thing about Rayquaza is when it kills a lead, it can ExtremeSpeed the Revenge killer, leaving the score 5/5 with one damaged pokemon(not if it is a ghost type). The Evs are similar to Mixed Rayquaza, as the attacks. Brick Break breaks screens, so, it is used over Outrage. More than 2/3 of the time, Rayquaza beats the lead (If the opponent's Dialga or Groudon decides to Stealth Rock, they're dead) assuming they do not switch. Here is how Rayquaza deals with other leads: (Note that I didn't calculate damage on some)

Mewtwo: Draco Meteor + ExtremeSpeed

Darkrai: ExtremeSpeed, switch to Palkia and Draco Meteor

Dialga: Draco Meteor + Brick Break. It may survive. If it does not Stealth Rock, you are likely to lose.

Groudon: Fire Blast two timees and Draco Meteor. Beware, you are 2HKOed by Dragon Claw.

Deoxys-S: Draco Meteor and Extreme Speed. If it is using a bulkier EV spread, ExtremeSpeed again.

Deoxys: Since Deoxys is a Focus Sash lead, you can 2HKO it using ExtremeSpeed.

Deoxys-A: ExtremSpeed will kill it two turns.

Shaymin-S: Draco Meteor and ExtremeSpeed.

Scizor: Fire Blast. ExtremeSpeed if it Survives.

Kyogre: ExtremeSpeed. If it uses Water Spout, you kill it. See if it has Leftovers. If it has, You can try Wobbuffet. If it does not, ExtremeSpeed again and Tyranitar can Pursuit or Crunch which OHKOs Kyogre, assuming the appropriate situation.

Ninjask: ExtremSpeed until it scrams away.

Mew: Just attack since it does not have any offensive move which can cause 2HKO

Forretress: Fire Blast and Another.

Tyranitar: Brick Break. If it survives, Repeat.

202.png

THE ENCORER

Wobbuffet @ Leftovers
"Why not?"
EVs: 28 HP / 228 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
-Encore
-Counter
-Mirror Coat
-Safeguard

Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet, ah the set up monster. It helps Groudon Sweep, which is significant since Groudon has two boosting moves. This can also kill Revenge killers. Safeguard can help with status since my team is vulnerable to burns being very Physical. It can also stop Darkrai from Dark Voiding. Wobbuffet is a very good set-up Aid.

383.png

THE STAT UPPER

Groudon @ Life Orb
"Gordon"
EVs: 42 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Rock Polish
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Swords Dance

Groudon: SD + RP Groudon. I used the faster one to outrun Adamant Ho-oh and Modest Kyogre before any boosts. I can't quite find a replacement. I slapped Swords Dance in so it can KO some pokemon that it usually kills when Adamant. As you can see my team is weak to Ice-type attacks, particularly if it is not Specs/Scarf/Band-ed so I am thinking to replace this thing with something else, who is fast or has priority and does well versus Ho-oh and CM Kyogre.

248.png

THE WALL BREAKER

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
"Tyson"
EVs: 208 HP / 48 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
-Pursuit
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

Tyranitar: Tyranitar is a real beast in ubers! It can Pursuit trap the several Psychics in Ubers. Additionally, Tyranitar's Sandstorm has a lot of benefits. Sandstorm boosts it's above average Special defense to even higher levels!Sandstorm also allows Tyranitar to negate leftovers, easing it's stall wars with Lugia and others. Well, the EVs let you survive Life Orb Gengar's Focus Blast and Aura Sphere from a Calm Minded Mewtwo.

489.png

THE REVENGE KILLER

Palkia @ Choice Scarf
"Alicia"
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Surf
-Thunder
-Fire Blast

Palkia: Palkia is pretty important, checking a lot of Pokemon. Darkrai and Giratina is OHKOed by Draco Meteor. Kyogre is 2HKOed by Thunder. Wobbuffet , if Raining, is 2HKOed. Fire Blast is there for Steels, backed up by Groudon. Thus can also revenge kill Dragons, Such as Rayquaza, Giratina-O, Latios, Latias, and the list goes on. Provided not boosted by any means, this thing can also revenge kill opposing Palkia, Garchomp, Kingdra and more.

227.png

THE NOT SO GREAT WALL

Skarmory @ Leftovers
"Moriel"
EVs: 236 HP / 112 Def / 160 SpD
Impish Nature
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Spikes
-Whirlwind

Skarmory: The classic best Physical wall changes into a mixed wall in ubers, allowing it to wall Rayquaza, Garchomp, Dialga , and Groudon on the Physical side, while maintaining coverage on Skymin, and some Mewtwo and Giratina- O. Mostly, this thing is a supporter, though. The Defense EVs lets you Survive two CB Groudon's Stone Edge and puts you to a leftovers number. This thing can wall a lot of pokemon, but lacks way to dish damage big time.

This team has some problems, as I do not have any Ice resist. SD Rayquaza, especially with Overheat can wreck my team into pieces. Mixquaza can also do that. Choice Scarf or Jolly Ho-oh gives this team problems. So as Max Speed Calm Mind Kyogre and many more. I rely a lot on some pokemon on dangerous threats:

THE THREAT LIST
BOLD means a big problem
UNDERLINE means a minor/rare problem
ITALICIZED means a very slight difficulty of handling than normal

Mewtwo: If Tyranitar switches in on any attack barring Aura Sphere, or the rare Focus Blast or Specs Grass Knot, Tyranitar can kill using Crunch or Pursuit, depending if it switches or not. Max HP sets are also OHKOed when Stealth Rock is down. If damaged by about 25%, Tyranitar can also OHKO Mewtwo. Palkia can revenge kill Life Orb Mewtwo after one Life Orb recoil and Stealth Rock.

Mew: Rayquaza, if alive can kill mew with Brick Break, Fire Blast, and two Draco Meteors, If it is A Baton Pass version. If it Rock Polished, you may ExtremeSpeed. However, Mew may still succeed Baton Passing. If it does not have U-turn, Baton Pass, or Bulk Up/Swords Dance + Brick Break, Tyranitar usually handles it. However, Rayquaza tends to sacrifice itself beating other leads.

Wobbuffet: If not Raining, Palkia can be a Wobbuffet bait, who serves as a back up plan for mispredictions >_>... Wobbuffet has no technical counters except for U-turn to Spiritomb maybe, so why bother.

Lugia: Tyranitar can slowly kill this. Crunch can deliver defense drops to break through Reflect while repeated pursuits may put Lugia into SR kill range next switch in. In addition, she is generally a wobbuffet bait.

Ho-oh: Groudon can outspeed some versions and kill with Stone Edge, but risks switching in. If the sun is not out (I can use Tyranitar), Palkia OHKOs using Surf after one Life Orb and Stealth Rock damage (LOL). Ho-oh is really a threat to my team, although focusing on killing Forretress may be a good idea.

Lati@s: Tyranitar can handle them the way he handles Mewtwo (and Tyranitar handle these pokemon better!).

Kyogre: Palkia can switch in onto anything. However, it is harder when it switches into Calm Mind. Palkia can Thunder, switch to Groudon and hope to be faster. If not, Palkia switches again with the Sun Up and pick it off.

Groudon: Skarmory deals with it assuming no Fire move. Palkia can revenge it.

Rayquaza: Skarmory deals with it assuming no Fire move. Palkia can revenge it if it is not a Swords Dance version. Swords Dance + Overheat are dealt by stalling Rayquaza until reducing its Special attack to Skarmory's handleable level.

Deoxys: Deoxys is almost exclusive as a lead, which can be dealt by ExtremeSpeeding.

Deoxys-A: Palkia can revenge kill or switch to a weak attack. Rayquaza is capable of killing it without noticing. Tyranitar can lure Superpower to Wobbuffet, who can survive a Life Orb boosted Shadow Ball and Mirror coat it. Deoxys-A is incredibly hard to deal as only Rayquaza has priority on my team.

Deoxys-D: Skarmory can switch in and Whirlwind it before it sets up completely. If it is an Agility set, Tyranitar can handle it, but may eventually die out of poison. The entry hazards are hazardous, but Deoxys-D cannot stall my team out.

Deoxys-S: Leads are beaten by Rayquaza. Spiker sets are removed by Tyranitar. Mixed sets are beaten by Palkia, who can survive two Thunders and OHKO with Draco Meteor.

Palkia: My own Palkia can switch on any non Dragon Attack or Choice Scarf Thunder and OHKO with Draco Meteor.

Dialga: Skarmory walls Physical sets. Groudon and Palkia can revenge kill and on some times, switch in. However, you may not know what spread it has at its switch in. Wobbuffet can switch onto offensively weak sets and Counter/Mirror Coat an attack. Overall, Dialga's versatility makes it hard to counter.

Giratina: Palkia can switch in on something like Rest and OHKO with Draco Meteor. Without Will-o-wisp, Tyranitar can also kill it. Skarmory can Phaze it, as after two Calm Minds, Skarmory can still survive Dragon Pulse.

Darkrai: Groudon can absorb sleep, and Palkia can Draco Meteor. However, physical sets can Focus Punch Palkia. If it is Physical, Skarmory walls it by continuously attacking. Mixed and Trick sets are also taken care by Palkia. However, the best way of dealing with SubSalac Darkrai is to switch Groudon in while using Substitute, Earthquaking to break it's Substitutes, leaving it with only a +1 speed boost. If it sends Groudon to sleep, Tyranitar can swap in on Nasty Plot, as no Darkrai has Substitute and Focus Blast or Nasty Plot and Focus Blast on the same set. Tyranitar crunches its Substitutes away, leaving it with +2 SpA and +1 Spd and killing it.

Garchomp: Skarmory handles him if without Fire attacks. Else, Palkia can switch in the Fire Attacks and Kill, assuming not scarfed. Tyranitar can Pursuit him if scarfed, and using Fire Blast or Fire Fang.

Giratina-O: Tyranitar handles ones without Aura Sphere. Palkia handles ones without Dragon Pulse (???). Physical sets can be walled by Skarmory, roosting everything. Mixed sets are OHKOed by Palkia, as long as she switches in on non Dragon Type attacks.

Shaymin-S: Skarmory can survive 3-4 Choice Specs Air Slashes or 2 Seed Flares, assuming the SpD drop occurs. She can also OHKO using Brave Bird after SR or Substitute Damage. Alternatively, Whirlwind Removes all Growth boosts and makes Skymin take more Stealth Rock Damage. However, HP Fire will OHKO Skarmory if sunny. Tyranitar can switch onto HP Fire and start Pusruiting, though. Palkia can also Fire Blast it after a kill.

Manaphy: Tyranitar can switch in while Manaphy uses Rest, and use Pursuit until it wakes up. That is Palkia's killing range of Draco Meteor/Thunder. If Manaphy is slightly damaged, let's say 20% Palkia can switch onto Tail Glow/Surf and OHKO using Thunder.

Forretress: It's really hard to deal with things like this as I do not have or Foretress of my own or Taunt... Groudon can set up with it, to halt it TEMPORARILY. Palkia can switch in and kill it if it is slightly damaged, let's say... 20% again.

Metagross: Palkia resists its Stab and can use Fire Blast.

Blissey: Tyranitar switches in with ease and start Pursuiting her to Death.

Heatran: Palkia can switch in on its stab moves and OHKO using Surf. Tyranitar can take Explosions and Dragon Pulses aimed at Palkia, but must be careful if Heatran is not choiced, as Hidden Power might hurt him.

Weavile: Skarmory is not 2HKOed by CB Ice Punch and OHKOs using Brave Bird if Weavile already takes two Stealth Rock Damages (which is not to long considering Skarmory can Whirlwind it). If it does not have Ice Punch, Skarmory has the Luxury of setting up on it. SD versions are treated the same way, since it needs to use Swords Dance before sweeping, and Life Orb wears it down.

Tyranitar: Groudon survives three CB/DD boosted Crunches and can OHKO with Earthquake, assuming Max HP. However, Scarf Versions deal Good damage if it has Ice Beam. My own Tyranitar can switch on the Ice Beam and scare it off. If the Weather is not Sandy, Palkia can 2HKO it with Surf.

Skarmory: Palkia's Fire Blast usually OHKO it, but some invest significantly to survive random Overheats or HP Fire(or to counter special threats). Groudon can switch in to boost the Fire Blast, though.

Heracross: Since I do not have any status moves, Heracross won't Get any Guts boost except when it switches in on Palkia's Thunder, which I almost only use against Kyogre. Skarmory can take on Scarf or SD Heracross and OHKO with Brave Bird if it is not Gutsed. Wobbuffet can switch on CB Close Combat and Counter it, but needs to be very careful about Megahorn or even Night Slash. Groudon can also set up on Heracross.

Shedinja: Since I don't have any status moves, It is hard to kill Shedinja if Tyranitar is dead. Even if not, Tyranitar Risks being Will-o-wisp. What I do is use Fire Blast from Palkia and switch to Tyranitar if it is sashed. However, Palkia hates Choice Band when it does not have any Physical attacks. Shedinja would have a hard time switching in the Sandstorm, but Focus Sash Shedinja vs. all of my pokemon except Tyranitar, I lose. Too bad Wobbuffet cannot use counter on Shedinja.

Jirachi: Groudon can switch in and use Rock Polish, since defensive variants will run away, and faster variants are now out speeded - even an Adamant Max Attack Life Orb/Expert Belt Ice Punch won’t 2HKO. After the Rock Polish, you can kill it if it did not switch. Palkia can also go for a speed tie when scarfed.

Bronzong: Skarmory can switch in on anything that Bronzong does, and set up. Palkia can Fire Blast it if it catches it off guard, or if it used Reflect before Light screen if it a Dual screen version.

Lucario: Groudon can switch on the Swords Dance and OHKO using Earthquake, as most Lucario is Adamant. Besides that, my team is killed by Lucario since Palkia is OHKOed by ExtremeSpeed (Although using a couple of Defense EVs would fix the problem).

Gengar: Tyranitar survives a Life Orb boosted Focus Blast and OHKOs using pursuit, whether the opponent switches or not. Palkia can OHKO Gengar without scarf.

Mamoswine: Lead swine actually beats Rayquaza. However, Skarmory walls it.

Registeel: Skarmory is immune to Toxic and resists Explosion, so it is a free set up. Groudon and Palkia can use super effective attacks on the metal, with no ways to repair itself (barring RestTalk or Wish Support).

Salamence: Although Palkia can revenge kill DDRay, but not DDMence, so after the MixQuaza sweep, my team is open, without Skarmory walling it. Palkia can go for a speed tie, but may lose as Outrage OHKOs it. Salamence is rare, though.

Chlorophyll pokes: Skarmory can switch to an attack no HP Fire and OHKO using Brave Bird, assuming the sweepers takes SR damage. Palkia can Revenge kill them (Whoa, Palkia must be monster to out speed Chlorophyll Pokemon), but must be careful as Sunny Abusing teams may have Heatran, who can switch into Fire Blast. Since Shiftry does not carry HP Fire, Skarmory can switch into Nasty Plot, survive the HP Ice, and OHKO using Brave Bird. However, Skarmory will have to sacrifice itself. For Jumpluff, Tyranitar can switch in, ruining the weather. If the weather is sandy now, Palkia can Fire Blast it, for the KO or to break a Sub.

Swift Swim pokes: Groudon can switch on Kabutops' Swords Dance, out speeding it and OHKO using Earthquake. As for Ludicolo, Skarmory is immune To toxic and 4x resists it's Grass STAB. Brave Bird 2HKOs Ludicolo, factoring in Leech Seed, Rain Dish, Leftovers and Stealth Rock. Kingdra is the Hardest to deal with. Groudon can switch in on any attack. If it did not Dragon Dance, Groudon can suicide using Earthquake, leaving a very little percentage of HP left, possibly killing on the next switch in. If it does Dragon Dance, Skarmory can switch on the Draco Meteor, and Switch to Palkia.

You've got the Nature and EVs for the mixed Choice Scarf Palkia set, seeming you have all special moves, you'll want to change your nature to Timid and stick the 4 Atk EVs in HP.

Main Problems

-SD Lucario and Rayquaza (All of them pretty much have Overheat)

-Jolly Ho-oh

-Stall (somewhat)

As stated in your threat list, these mons give you massive problems. The easiest way to fix this is to simply Scarf your Tyranitar and change its EVs to 252 Attack/252 Speed/Jolly Nature (Same moves) Despite losing some power, Tyranitar gains the ability to stop these threats thanks to its Sarf enabling it to outspeed and kill them.

Skarm could use Toxic over Brave Bird. That way you have a more reliable method of damaging mons such as Groudon. Brave Bird from Skarm is just going to be too weak to do anything.

Finally, since your team seems to rely on Spikes a lot to get a sweep with your Groudon, and stall can give you some problems because Rayquaza is worn down quickly and the rest of your team is walled by some individual stall component. I think a spinblocker that can also beat stall would be good here. Rayquaza is the most replaceable member of the team it seems, so you could try this instead:

Giratina-o @ Platinum Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk/40 Spd/216 SAtk
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Outrage
- Shadow Sneak
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]

This fulfills the same anti-lead job your Rayquaza does, but it gives you a much a much needed Spinblocker as well as a good Mewtwo/Deoxys-A check thanks to STAB Shadow Sneak. (Gira-O is bulky enough to take an Ice Beam from these two.) This thing is also a monster against stall.

That is all. Pretty good for a first team ^_^

I haven't check the thread for such a long time. I didn't notice that.

Rayquaza to Giratina-O: Seems a good Idea. I didn't notice Giratina-O's potential to lead.
Tyranitar: Scarf Tyranitar? Will Tyranitar still switch in safely from Ice Beams? Giratina-O can Outrage on Ho-oh, can't he? I'll try it though.
Skarmory: Ok, toxic. I can't KO the Chlorophyll pokemon but they are rare. Should I shift Spikes to Stealth Rock?
