Team Complexity [OU RMT]

Story: My reason for the name "complexity" is because this team at least requires the ability to predict what moves your opponent is going to use; This as stated above is a complex challenge. When done correctly this team proves to be able to be able to take out some of the most powerful pokemon in OU. So lets get to the team...

----------------------------------------------------
The main issues for this team are as follows:

  • 1 weakness to stealth rock
  • 2 weaknesses to grass types
  • 2 weaknesses to fire types
Other notes:

  • 2 immune to spikes
  • 4 immune to toxic spikes

Time to take a closer look at my team...

The Lead
260.png

Swampert @ Leftovers
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpD
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Curse

Woah is that curse on a lead set? Yes i wanted to try something different with my lead Swampert. 216 SpD reaches a bonus point in Special Defense; this Swampert can even take a Life Orb max SpA Infernape’s Grass Knot
and live to tell the tale. Usually if i spot a lead like Celebi or Infernape i set up stealth rock to give my team coverage. Anything else set out i will usually curse up on the first turn and possibly on the 2nd (or stealth rock). After a couple of curses STAB earthquakecan cause major damage to my opponents lead and any other pokemon they may send out. Ice beam is meant to take out dragons. Cursepert can cause major damage to any team not ready for it and usually catches them off guard. With this set he can usually sweep 2 pokemon sometimes even 3.

The Revenge Killer

212.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 198 HP / 252 Atk / 60 SpD
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

My revenge killer. From this point on its easier for me to explain the team in reverse order so bear with me. Since i have HP fire on my Gengar, i lose the change to take out other Gengar, so pursuit Scizor answers that. He also allows me to to trap Latias who could stop my Dragonite from sweeping. Bullet punch is my check on Salamence and Dragonite. Scizor is my switch in to blissey in case Magnezone didnt have a chance to explode on it.

The Steel Killer
462.png

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Nature: Naive
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 42 HP / 216 Spe / 252 SpA
- Hidden Power Grass
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion
- Substitute

The key to the team. If scizor uses bullet punch instead of pursuit i switch to zone and trap it. Killing Scizor allows my DDNite to sweep. Now how to set up a sweep for Gengar? The only real Gengar counter is blissey. No-one expects explosion from behind a sub making this a perfect blissey counter. Once Blissey is gone and/or Scizor, my DDNite and Gengar can begin to sweep. Nature and EVs is too outspeed Scizors. At best i can trap a steel and kill it and explode on something else.

The Bulky Water
134.png

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 Def / 188 HP / 70 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power Electric
- Wish
- Protect

Now what is the most dangerous pokemon in OU? The answer to that i think is Gyarados. At first i used a defensive starmie for Gyarados but realized it was pointless due to the fact i dont need a rapid spinner and its not quite as bulky. I started to look outside of OU to look for a gyarados counter whose intimidate could ruin my DDNite sweep. I also wanted a pokemon that hit hard enough to get rid of infernapes and heatrans. Then i found Vaporeon. She proved to be a bulky key to my team to be able to beat all of these threats. EVs spread provides as much bulk as possible + wish + protect makes it very hard to kill. I also use her to pass wishes to other members like to give gengar a 2nd chance to sweep and for magnazone to stay alive. Hydro pump kills heatrans and infernapes and HP electric to kill gyarados and other waters.

The Special Sweeper
094.png

Gengar @ Life Orb
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 HP
- Hidden Power Fire
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Protect

Gengar also seves as a scizor check to my dragonite. Protect allows me to always beat scizor as i protect the bullet punch and hit it with HP Fire. Gengar always baits scizor into bullet punch instead of u-turn allowing me to kill it. Shadow ball can also OHKO mence after SR damage. Focus blast is to keep luke in check from sweeping. Gengar proves to be the perfect partner for DDNite.

The Star
149.png

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 224 HP / 84 Atk / 200 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Roost

The star of the team. Nite proves to be a very good bulky sweeper. I use this set instead of mence due to its increased bulkiness. Nite can cause switches easily to find time to roost away damage. DD + LIfe Orb allows nite to hit VERY HARD and can take out the remainder pokemon easy. With roost Nite is very hard to take down with its EVs.

This team works by opening holes for other to sweep. I really like the style of bulky offense and this team is one example of that. I am able to counter alot of threats to my main sweepers with these tactics and it allows me to win most of my matches.

Thank you to everyone who will read this and rate it; All suggestions are welcomed =P

This is a pretty nice team however Vaporeon could go over Militic as it can do the exact same thing as Milotic however Vaporeoon also has a water immunity. Personally though, I think an offensive Suicune with a slightly bulky spread spread beats Gyarados and Salamence. It can CM and gives your tream greater offensive power than milotic can.

Vaporeon is something to think about but Milotic has a water immunity technically as would anyone even use a water move on it? I like the idea of Suicune and i will start experimenting with Suicune sets.

Hello. This is a nice team you have here and I'd like to make some suggestions to help out.

Firstly I think for the purposes you need, Wish Pass Vaporeon is superior to Milotic. It checks both Infernape and Gyarados better than Milotic does because it takes less from Grass Knot and is immune to Waterfall. Furthermore, Vaporeon can pass on these its Wishes to teammates. Magnezone especially appreciates this because it is constantly lowering its own HP. It also allows Swampert to stay health enough to check DD Salamence and Dragonite.

Vaporeon | Leftovers
Bold | 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spe
Surf | HP Electric | Wish | Protect

Second, remove Curse from your Swampert's set. There are far more useful things for that spot, such as Roar or Protect.

I highly recommend using DD Salamence over DD Dragonite, it may be a matter of preference but I find it vastly superior. It also gives you a better switch into faster Fighting-types like Heracross and Lucario. While it is only slightly stronger, it is notably faster and bulkier on the physical side thanks to Intimidate. Since you want a bulky set, I recommend the one below, courtesy of RaikouLover:

Salamence | Life Orb
Adamant | 152 HP / 68 Atk / 56 Def / 56 SpD / 176 Spe
Dragon Dance | Outrage | Earthquake | Roost

The EVs provide good bulk, outrun base 90s (Lucario and below), and still hit hard due to Adamant and Life Orb.

Finally, other options include slapping a Choice Scarf on your Magnezone (or just changing it entirely to Choice Scarf Jirachi): you lack a dedicated revenge killer, and so faster threats can be a pain if your Gengar is weakened or dead.

I'll go ahead and make these sets and begin to experiment on how they fair on the team. Personally i love the idea of that Vaporeon set Thx! I decided to put a scarf on magnezone because its role is to trap steels something jirachi cant do.

wait a minute. how will u set up with magnezone if u have a choice scarf? u'll have to use substitute over and over again or switch

Hello,

You let me know via PM that you'd like to have your team rated. So here I go.
Well, I used a very similar team some time ago and this type of team seems to become more prominent again lately. As I have quite a bit experience with it I can tell that your team is already quite good and doesn't need too much improvement. However I also know that there are some minor things you should change in order to play the team to its best. Here are my suggestions.

Scizor, Dragonite and Magnezone are good as they are, so I wouldn't change anything here.

Vaporeon: The set is okay, the only thing I would change is Hydro Pump to Surf. While Hydro Pump may be the superior option for some offensive waters like Suicune or Starmie, a defensive pokemon like Vaporeon will appreciate Surf's accuracy more than Hydro Pumps power, as it can't really afford a miss in most cases. Also you could move some EVs from Speed to Special Defense as this speed investment is only needed to outrun base 70s like Metagross, Skarmory and Breloom. The former two are rarely seen with max Speed investment while you will alywas lose against the latter no matter if you outspeed or not.

Gengar: Your set is not bad at all but nonetheless I would definitely prefer the Substitute set nowadays. Using Protect against Scizor will show your opponent that you're using Mystic Gar, so he will predict your move and act accordingly without much risk. The Sub set is more useful as with a Sub up you are free to use whatever you want and no Scizor, Tyranitar, Heatran and many other potential counters be able to come in safely (as Gengar can ohko all of them). Also Leftovers will be the superior item choice together with Substitute as Life Orb+Substitute will wear Gengar down really fast. You won't miss the power too much as you still score the ohko on Tyranitar, Scizor and Lucario all the time. Here's the set:
Gengar@Leftovers
Timid-252Spe, 252SpAtk, 4HP
-Shadow Ball
-HP Fire
-Focus Blast
-Substitute

Swampert: You really shouldn't use Curse Pert as your lead. Swampert can make a really effective lead, that will provide you with Stealth Rock, Roar and a solid check for many dangerous threats, but you'e better off with this set:
Swampert@Leftovers
Relaxed-252HP, 252Def, 4Spe
-Earthquake
-Ice beam
-Roar
-Stealth Rock

Hope my suggestions helped. Good Luck !
