BARBOACH YEAH!
Status: Done
[Overview]
- Barboach got nothing worthwhile in the transition over from Gen IV
- Typing is still Barboach's niche in the tier, since Wooper has terrible stats. Sadly, the present of new Grass-type threats like Teshiido and Monmen make it hard to take advantage of
- Mediocre stats, it needs boosts to be effective
- Dragon Dance is the only way to go with Barboach
- Anticipation can be useful, but most of the time just tells you the obvious

[Set Comments]
- Pretty much the only way to go if you are using Barboach
- Dragon Dance raises both Attack and Speed to 23 with an Adamant nature, giving Barboach
- Waterfall and Earthquake for STAB
- Return gets perfect coverage alongside Earthquake and Waterfall
- Jolly can be used if you want more Speed
- Stealth Rock, Spikes and screen support is highly recommended to use alongside Barboach
- Barboach forms a good attacking combo with Meraruba, since Barboach can switch in onto Meraruba's primary weakness, Rock, and Meraruba can switch in easily on Grass-type moves
- Bronzor can provide screens and Stealth Rock, making it a great teammate
- Teshiido is an excellent Spiker to use alongside Barboach, being able to switch in easily on Grass-type moves
- Meraruba forms an good offensive team with Barboach, as do most other Fire-types
- Barboach doesn't mind Sandstorm or Rain support
- Barboach has numerous special options, such as Earth Power and Boiling Water, but Barboach doesn't have the ability to boost its Special Attack, limiting it to physical options
- Barboach has enough Speed to run a Choice Scarf set, but having no way to boost its offensive stats with Scarf makes it ineffective
- It learns Mud Sport and Water Sport, which are interesting support options, but most of the time just a waste of precious time
- Teshiido and Bronzor can take most of Barboach's assaults after a Dragon Dance
- Bulky Grass-types, such as Snover or Turtwig, counter Barboach easily
- Duskull can switch in on Earthquake and burn Barboach with Will-O-Wisp. Pururiru can do the same with Water Absorb against Waterfall
- Easy to revenge kill
If you have rain, use Hydration. If you don't have rain, use Anticipation. Simple as that. Barboach isn't bulky enough to take advantage of HydrationRest, so its mostly used for burns and foe-induced sleep.
