With passable offense, decent bulk, and access to key moves like Dragon Dance, Whiscash is a perfect example of an underrated threat of UU. Although Whiscash seems to be outclassed by Feraligatr in an offensive role, it has some advantages, including its significantly larger special bulk and Ground-typing ridding it of Electric-type counters. Similarly, it has advantages over Quagsire and Gastrodon due to the fact that it can play a much more offensive role on a team than the former two Pokemon that are usually seen as supporting players. Given a significant amount of support from its teammates, along with an opportunity to set up, Whiscash can be a fearsome offensive threat that is capable of plowing through well-built teams.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Waterfall / Aqua Tail
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Bounce / Stone Edge
item: Life Orb
ability: Anticipation
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Due to Whiscash's great offensive typing and acceptable movepool, it can effectively utilize Dragon Dance in order to sweep when given the proper support. After a Dragon Dance, Whiscash reaches 329 Speed, allowing it to outspeed up to positive Speed nature base 100s such as Miltank, Houndoom, and Drapion. Waterfall is advised as the main STAB attack because of its reliability, although if you prefer the extra power, Aqua Tail can be used at the cost of lower accuracy. Earthquake is the secondary STAB move, as it is able to dent foes like Milotic and Slowbro, while also having decent coverage with Whiscash’s Water-type STAB. Bounce is recommended in the final slot as it allows Whiscash to deal with Grass-types that pretty much wall this set otherwise and have a chance to paralyze threats, although Stone Edge can be utilized if you want Whiscash to hit Flying-types such as Altaria and Scyther for super effective damage.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Grass-types like Sceptile, Venusaur, and Tangrowth are huge problems for this set as they resist all of Whiscash’s attacks bar Bounce and can KO with a STAB, super effective Grass-type attack; Sceptile is even able to outpace Whiscash after a Dragon Dance, making it even more of a threat. For these reasons, it is beneficial to include teammates that can take Grass-types head-on, like Arcanine and Moltres, as both can defeat the aforementioned Grass-types while also sharing great synergy with Whiscash.

[Team Options]

Entry hazard support is extremely useful for Whiscash, as said support will help it dent foes more heavily while also possibly getting important KOs on certain Pokemon if they have taken previous damage. Similarly, dual screens support is a good idea to pack on your team as it will help Whiscash set up much more easily on a larger array of opposing Pokemon. In addition, including Pokemon that can deal with bulky Water and Grass-types, Whiscash’s number one counters, is a great idea as they will allow Whiscash to more efficiently perform a sweep. Defensive variants of Moltres and Arcanine are great Pokemon to help deal with Grass-types, while Venusaur and Sceptile can help with bulky Water-types like Milotic. Finally, including a Pokemon that can take status is greatly appreciated by Whiscash, as status problems will in most cases end its sweep. Rest + Sleep Talk Arcanine is a great example of a Pokemon that can handle this job.

[Optional Changes]

Outside of Dragon Dance, Whiscash’s options on a team are really limited. A Choice Band set can be utilized to transform Whiscash into a decent wallbreaker, although even with the Choice Band boost, Whiscash is still noticeably weak, so this route is not recommended. Due to Whiscash's passable defenses, it can use a defensive set although this set is a bad idea since it doesn’t have a reliable way to regain lost HP bar Rest. A special set consisting of Hydro Pump, Earth Power, Ice Beam, and Hidden Power Grass can be used but due to Whiscash’s lackluster Special Attack stat, this is gimmicky at best. Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge if you prefer the extra accuracy over power. Also, Zen Headbutt can be used to hit Venusaur for super effective damage although it fails against other Grass-types. Lastly, Substitute can help stop status problems, one of Whiscash’s greatest concerns.

[Counters]

Several Pokemon can threaten Whiscash but the foremost problems are bulky Water- and Grass-types, which usually take almost nothing from Whiscash’s attacks and can KO back with a super effective Grass-type attack; in the case of bulky Water-types, they can usually simply stall Whiscash out if they do not carry Hidden Power Grass. Tangrowth, Venusaur, and Milotic are excellent examples of such Pokemon due to their natural bulk and decent offensive prowess; Sceptile is also a great counter since it can outpace Whiscash at +1 Speed and KO with a Grass-type attack. Moving on, physical tanks carrying Will-O-Wisp screw Whiscash over; both Weezing and Defensive Mismagius with max Speed are prime examples of this. Weezing can remove all stat-ups via Haze while Mismagius can outspeed and cripple Whiscash with Will-O-Wisp.

Don't mention Slowking as a counter:
Even with 252 HP / 252 Def+ it's 2HKOed by +1 STAB Earthquake while it can't 2HKO back unless it has lol Hydro Pump.

Whiscash is a funny catfish o3o.
I wish it had more viable sets...

Lol it looks just like Gyara.

But the LO really screws it over. Toxic Spikes damage this enough, and LO just adds. Plus with it's crappy defense, it can't take a hit. I suggest leftovers, but thats just me.

I would consider slashing Aqua Tail or even make it the main option on Whiscash, as its pretty weak and can use all the power it can get.

Ok I've tested this nigga. First, slash Aqua Tail as megan Fox suggested, this guy is really really weak and the possibility of making one of its STABs better should be mentioned. Second, outside of Altaria, I don't see many situations in which you'll specifically need Stone Edge to take down flyers after a DD (maybe against a full HP Scyther); while with Bounce you can at least do something to Tangrowth, Leafeon, Sceptile (gotta predict this switch), Torterra (you'll hit considerably harder) and Exeggutor; so I'd make Bounce the main option. Outside of that:

tested it with Bluewind, I agree with his changes. make a mention of entry hazard support somewhere, as they will help whiscash sweep. then mention venusaur and other grass-types as good teammates, as this is a bulky water-type magnet and it can't break past milo/slowbro. once that's done,

stamp3.png

That's actually fine.

edit: Whoops, good thing I didn't start anything. Going to wait for this to get into queue before actual checking.

edit: this is aka placeholder until i know this gets into the queue despite bmb checking this already.

[Overview]

With Passable passable offensive prowess,(comma) couple up with decent defenses and bulk, along with and access to key moves like Dragon Dance, Whiscash is the epitome of one the underrated threats of UU. Given a significant amount of support from its teammates, along with an opportunity to set-up set up, Whiscash can, hands down, be a fearsome offensive threat capable of plowing through well-built teams if a beneficial scenario has been created by the user.

move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Bounce / Stone Edge

[SET COMMENTS]

With a passable base Attack stat,(comma) coupled up with decent Speed,(comma) and a considerable amount of bulk, Whiscash can effectively utilize Dragon Dance in order to conduct a threatening sweep if given the proper support. Its ability, Anticipation,(comma) greatly helps Whiscash to seize possible opportunities in which it may attempt to set up,(remove) and eventually sweep. Waterfall is used advised as a reliable STAB attack,(comma) although if you prefer the extra amount of power, Aqua Tail can be used,(comma) which trades higher power for lower accuracy although the 90% accuracy can be quite annoying in certain situations. Earthquake is also used as a secondary STAB move,(comma) being able to dent foes like Milotic and Slowbro, while also having decent coverage with Whiscash’s Water-type STAB. Bounce is recommended in the final slot as it allows Whiscash to deal with Grass-type foes that pretty much wall this set otherwise,(comma) although Stone Edge can be utilized i if you want to Hit hit the likes of Altaria for super effective damage.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EVs suggested are self-explanatory,(comma) as they maximize both Whiscash’s Attack and Speed, while giving it a small amount of bulk through the investment in HP. It should be noted that with 252 Speed EVs and an Adamant nature, Whiscash is able to outpace maximum Speed base 100’s 100s. A Life Orb along with an Adamant nature have been suggested as they maximize Whiscash’s offensive prowess,(comma) since it will need all the offensive force it can get its whiskers on. Grass-types like Sceptile, Venusaur and Tangrowth are huge problems for this set as they resist all of Whiscash’s attacks bar Bounce and can KO with a STAB, super effective Grass-type attack; Sceptile is even able to outpace Whiscash after a Dragon Dance,(comma) making it even more of a threat. For these reasons, it will be beneficial to include Pokemon who can take Grass-types head-on like Arcanine and Milotic [What? How does Milotic beat Grass-types? Do you mean Moltres?] as both can defeat the aforementioned Grass-types while also sharing great synergy with Whiscash.

[Team Options]

Entry hazard support will be extremely useful for Whiscash,(comma) as said support will help it dent foes more heavily while also possibly getting the KOes important KOs on certain Pokemon if the they have taken a required amount of previous damage. In addition, Including including Pokemon that can deal with bulky Water-types and Grass-types,(comma) Whiscash’s number one counters,(comma) would be a great idea as this will allow Whiscash to more efficiently perform a sweep. Finally, in terms of other move options, Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge if your prefer the extra accuracy over the high Base Power.

[Overview]

With passable offensive prowess offense, decent defenses and bulk, and access to key moves like Dragon Dance, Whiscash is the epitome a perfect example (i honestly had to refer to a dictionary, lol) of an underrated threat of UU. Given a significant amount of support from its teammates, along with an opportunity to set up, Whiscash can be a fearsome offensive threat that is capable of plowing through well-built teams if a beneficial scenario has been created by the user.

(I'm pretty sure you can put more in this overview. for example, you can compare Whiscash to other Dragon Dancers, most notably Feraligatr, and say why you would use Whiscash over Mr. Gatr. I think comparing to Quagsire (and maybe Gastrodon) would be good too; you'd mostly be saying Whiscash is more offensive than them or something along that line. Of course, if you come up with any more interesting stuff to note, add them in! Squish these between your two sentences.)

(Aaand... I'll swing by for another check too unless someone else gets here first.)

[SET COMMENTS]

With a passable base Attack stat, decent Speed, and a considerable amount of bulk, Whiscash can effectively utilize Dragon Dance in order to sweep if given the proper support. (don't get me wrong, this is a good sentence, but the overview almost completely mimics this so i'll change some parts around in a new sentence) Given Whiscash's Its ability, Anticipation, greatly helps Whiscash to seize possible opportunities in which it may attempt to set up and eventually sweep. (idk what happened here but i just know that anticipation barely helps out at set upping and sweeping because most of the time you already know if the foe carries a grass attack or not... it's just "better" than oblivious but doesn't really warrant a mention imo) Due to Whiscash's great offensive typing and acceptable movepool, it can effectively utilize Dragon Dance in order to sweep when given the proper support. After a Dragon Dance, Whiscash reaches 329 Speed, allowing it to outspeed up to positive Speed nature base 100s such as Miltank, Houndoom, and Drapion. A Life Orb along with an Adamant nature have been suggested as they maximize Whiscash’s offensive prowess, since it will need all the offensive force it can get its whiskers on.

(There were two big separate ideas in one paragraph, which shouldn't have happened so I separated them.)

(Err, was, but i'll keep my old comment here so you can see my thought process for a little bit. This Whiscash set is fairly simple enough that it does not require explaining max EVs for maximum damage output/speed, whatever. The only important part, the Speed Whiscash reaches, was implemented in Set Comments... which should have been in Set Comments in the first place.)

Grass-types like Sceptile, Venusaur, (comma) and Tangrowth are huge problems for this set as they resist all of Whiscash’s attacks bar Bounce and can KO it with a STAB, super effective Grass-type attack; Sceptile is even able to outpace Whiscash after a Dragon Dance, making it even more of a threat. (I think Zen Headbutt is worth a mention here as it's another usable physical attack, can flinch, hits Venusaur, but fails against pure grass-types... but Stone Edge fails there too lol.)

(Oh, where's Substitute? Whiscash can run some SubDD Earthquake/Stone Edge set which lets it stop status. Good OC material imo.)

[Counters]

(Physical wall/tanks/stuff with Will-O-Wisp do excellent against Whiscash. Will-O-Wisp/Haze Weezing is a godly counter to DDWhiscash, and Timid 252 HP/252 Spe Mismagius is too since it outspeeds and has Will-O-Wisp to boot. I guess Uxie with Yawn can work out too.)

(Exeggutor/Leafeon should probably replace Venusaur/Sceptile. Both have better physical defenses too. I recommend the changes at Additional Comments as well.)

I don't think some of the content and organization were really thought up well here. If a piece is looking too short, try to think of more alternative information to add in.

I don't know why there are "would be" when they "are". They are problems to deal with, no doubting that. Do re-read your writing (out-loud in fact helps) and eliminate any weirdness.

There are random words that look like they were copy/pasted and never deleted or just stuffed there to confuse the reader. This included "Whiscash set up much more easily and on a larger array".

Some parts get repetitive and use the same phrase over and over again (I think I fixed them though). Optional Changes kept not recommending the options. Gets dull after awhile... so remember to use different words or phrases next time from a dictionary.

Maybe more flavorful prose here and there too but I'll leave that for you to figure out since it's not really required... just helpful if used correctly. They can backfire, so watch out if you decide on doing some of this.

I do admit the grammar and some parts were good though. But you really need to polish up this analysis.

I don't know if this warrants a third check, however. I can swing by again and check this analysis/correct myself if needed.

Man, my head hurts lol.

I think the Sceptile part was actually fine now that I think about it. You did mention it outspeeds Whiscash after a Dragon Dance, which I for some reason didn't comprehend. Keep that part but add in the Exeggutor/Leafeon part.

edit: oh, wait up, let me check if Whiscash is actually bulkier than Feraligatr.
edit: asked in IRC, got Whiscash > Gatr replies, lol. Okay, I have no doubts this is good to go now!
edit: actually, objection! Whiscash is MUCH less physically bulky than Gatr, but is slightly more specially bulky. You should put "slightly higher special bulk" instead of "significantly larger bulk".

Thanks, Flora! Yeah, I was wondering about that "godly" mishap as well as I though it was a bit exaggerated but, I'm thinking, why not just go with the GP check? Anyways, this is now done and ready for upload.

Whenever I upload something, a baby kitten dies. Poor kitty, taking one for the team right now.

EDIT: Kitten down. I repeat, the kitten is down.
