Hey, I'm fairly new to pokemon and I've been using this team quite successfully, peaking at 1642 CRE (unfortunately not on smogon university as it is down on Shoddy... Maybe players are worse in Team Ubers server.. I'm not sure). I play HO(Hyper Offense) some people might say it's the easiest way.. and it probably is... Anyway... I would really like to improve it and I tried asking a few people but they couldn't think of anything so I decided to try RMT. Well.. Here's my team~
Changes in red
Team at a Glance:
Zappo (Metagross) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Explosion
Metagross is a really good lead in my experience. Pretty much the main purpose of this is to set up Stealth Rocks and then put pressure on my opponent and/or explode on a pokemon that walls some of my sweepers that would be a bother to take care of. It can 2HKO Machamp leads and deal with most other anti-leads. I run Jolly to outspeed opposing metagross leads and to outrun some slower counters(especially Magneton which I can 1HKO if it's not running scarf or Shuca) and because I don't really see the usefulness of Adamant because there isn't really anything I can 1HKO with Adamant that jolly can't 1HKO... that I can think of (except T-tar with DEF Investments, Which I can 2HKO anyway since I outspeed it..) and 2HKO's with adamant are still usually 2HKOs with Jolly. If I'm fearing the 1HKO I switch to Gyarados which covers his weaknesses.
inb4leviathn (Gyarados) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 96 Atk / 104 Def / 152 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Earthquake
Gyarados! She's been a great sweeper. There isn't much to say about her, I run Bulky DD as you can see. Because of her great typing I can switch her into alot of counters to my other pokes(Metagross, T-tar and Scizor). I've been fiddling with the moveslot for Taunt. I've tested Bounce, Ice Fang, Sub, Taunt. IMO there hasn't really been a move that really stood out. But they all have they're pros and cons and yeah.. nothing's really stood out to me. So any ideas for this slot would be greatly appreciated. As for the others moves... pretty standard I've swept whole teams countless times with DD Gyarados.
Although I did used to run Substitue I'm now running taunt after some suggestions to stop phazers.
I Lyk Turtlz (Flygon) (F) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Outrage
Flygon just fits into my team. I don't really have much to comment on her. U-turn for scouting, EQ for stab, Outrage for stab and Stone Edge has been pretty useful. Against sub-seeders I just u-turn between scizor and flygon. Which is pretty funny to watch as they sometimes helplessly try to continue with subseeding. I u-turn to scizor if I predict the ice move. She's a great revenge killer.. but yeah nothing much to say. Sorry.
Patrick Star (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
Some of you might find it weird to run Rapid Spin with LO but it's been invaluable to my team. Rapid spin obviously to get rid of hazards that might really damage my team. Bolt/Beam/Surf for great coverage. Although some of you might suggest Hydro Pump. I've tried and tested and it's lost me countless games because of that one miss.
Christian (Scizor) (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Quick Attack
Scizor has just been great. Bulky and Powerful. I run quick attack just for the water and electric types. Quick attack has been more useful to me than Pursuit or Nightslash. Bullet punch for the stab+technician obviously. U-turn has been more useful than Bug Bite. Superpower to get those Dark and Normal types. And Sometimes if I predict the switch to a Heatran it racks me up a free kill. Just a great poke in general.
Reptar (Tyranitar) (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Fire Punch
- Rock Slide
And finally Tyranitar! This last slot for my team has been shaky for awhile. First I had Mixape and then SD Luke. Ttar has great Sweeping potential and good bulk. He's mainly on my team to get rid of Ghost types (Rotom! Is a Major Pain to my team without Ttar) as well as being a general pest to weather teams. Fire Punch over EQ because Rock Slide and EQ have about the same coverage and Fire Punch to kill most common counters to Ttar, sometimes it requires some predicting e.g. Scizor switch in. Rock Slide over SE because flinch and accuracy. I absolutely hate losing matches because of one miss so I usually opt for the more accurate move. Against most Rotoms I DD as they WoW me, which my lum berry takes care of and then crunch, and 90% of the time they stay because they predict a pursuit.
Shaymin @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SpA / 188 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power Fire
Well that's my team. I hope I did the RMT properly.
Rate/Comment and any Criticism is welcome... as long as it's helpful.

Shaymin @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 68 SpA / 188 Spe
Timid nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power Fire
Suggested by Faladran to replace Scizor, it works well with my team and very effectively breaks stall. Although there are some times where I wished that priority was at hand for that revenge kill, I think I'll be keeping this new edition to my team. Thanks Faladran! This is a great Shaymin set that manages to perform well against any type of opposing team. Nothing in particular likes to switch into Leech Seed, and Protect will allow you to gain extra recovery while damaging the opponent. Between Leech Seed, Protect, and Leftovers, Shaymin should easily remain at good health if played correctly. Seed Flare provides essential STAB, and the high power and chance to drop Special Defense can be very useful. HP Fire OHKOs opposing Scizor switch-ins and prevents other Grass-types from walling this set. Stall teams can have a lot of trouble dealing with this set, as they often don't have a form of insurance against its attacks. Leech Seed even allows Shaymin to turn Blissey into set up bait, due to its high HP stat. One of the best things about this variant of Shaymin is its ability to provide team support; the extra recovery from Leech Seed can maintain offensive momentum while healing other team members.
Well that's my team. I hope I did the RMT properly.
