So I was checking out the new banlist the other day, and thinking about how destructive the some of the newly OU Pokemon would be in the metagame. That's what this team is all about-utilizing formerly Uber Pokemon in OU. The underlying philosophy of this team is to always keep offensive pressure on the opponent. No spinblocker? You're dead before you Rapid Spin. You spin my stuff away anyway? You're DEAD. That's what this team does.
So without further ado...
Deoxys-A @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- ExtremeSpeed
- Psycho Shock
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
Deoxys-A is my primary lead, and a great one it is. It laughs at any walls-physical or special. It's got great coverage with Boltbeam and STAB Psycho Shock. It also beats many Focus Sash leads; they set up Stealth Rock or Taunt, I get them down to 1 HP, and Extremespeed them to death. It also makes a great revenge killer, although it can't switch in on anything.
Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- ExtremeSpeed
- Swords Dance
Swords Dance Lucario, one of the biggest setup sweepers of Gen 4, returns to this team as my new setup sweeper. He sets up off Wobbuffet-when something is locked into a non-damaging move, he comes in and boosts. He does not fear priority, which is very helpful to my team which previously struggled against it.
Wobbuffet (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shadow Tag
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Def / 228 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Encore
- Safeguard
OH NOES ITS WOBBUFFET! This pain in the butt is one of the best Pokemon in the game for letting other Pokemon set up. It can come in on a stat boosting move and Encore it, allowing me to switch in Lucario and set up. Alternatively, it can come in on an attack and counter/mirror coat it. Wobb is my number one physical dragon killer because he can come in on Outragers and KO them with Counter easily.
Darkrai @ Life Orb
Trait: Bad Dreams
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Focus Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Dark Void
Darkrai has changed roles to a wallbreaker with Substitute. Wobbuffet can be very useful in this mission, as Darkrai can come in on a non-damaging move and set up a Sub. Then it can proceed to sleep the opposition or utilize its nearly unresisted Dark/Fighting attacks to easily defeat physical walls that pose problems to Lucario. I bring it out towards the end of battle to clear the path to Lucario's sweep.
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
Here is my BulkyDDdos, designed to stop physical sweepers cold and maybe sweep itself as a last resort. It can switch in on nearly any physical attack and cripple the sweeper with Intimidate. It's my best bet against Roobushin and many other physical sweepers that can go through my team easily. As a last resort, if Lucario is dead it can switch in on a physical attacker and attempt a sweep with DD. It works fairly well for this role because of its bulk, enabling it to take a few hits.
Bronzong @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
Meet the new, improved Dual Screen Bronzong! Screens are enormously helpful to this team as they allow my team to take the extremely powerful attacks that are running around such as Specs Latios Draco Meteor easily and set up. In addition, he's the best Doryuuzu counter a team could wish for, which is great because in sand it sweeps pretty easily. He can also set up Stealth Rock, which is very useful to an offensive team.
So...that's my team. Witness the awe-inspiring power of Ubers in OU!
