Crobat Dex

[Overview]
  • Crobat makes an exceptional lead with it's base 130 speed and reasonable (for a scout) defences at 85/80/80, as well as its access to taunt
  • Base Attack of 90 and shallow movepool (including its only attack boosting move as Curse) remove most chances of a physicl sweep
  • Base Special Attack of 70 isn't all that great, but its much less barren Special movepool and access to Nasty Plot make Special sweeping viable
  • Makes a very decent Stallbreaker with its multi-sided attacking abilities and access to taunt, toxic, and other such moves.

[SET]
name: LeadBat
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Roost/Super Fang
item: Leftovers
nature: Jolly
ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 104 HP, 252 ATK, 8 DEF, 144 SPE

[SET COMMENTS]
  • 252 ATK EVs allow Brave Bird to OHKO Lead Machamps, who can only hope to Bullet Punch in return. I fact, it was the best Machamp-Counter in Gen IV
  • 144 SPE EVs allow him to outspeed base 115s and lower (without Scarf)
  • 104 HP EVs hits a leftovers number, so the remaining are placed in Defence
  • U-Turn allows Crobat to switch out of unfavourable matchups, and break sashes such as Aerodactyls.
  • Taunt allows Crobat to prevent most SR/Spikes users from laying it down
  • Roost is the primary option in the last slot, which allows Crobat to survive throughout a game and continue to BB enemies
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Super Fang is an option over Roost if the user is having trouble with stronger walls, as no one wants to lose half their health in one hit, especially those that depend on it
  • Max Speed is an option, but the only notable Poke that is out sped is ScarfTar, who is done so by a mere 12 more SPE EVs. Though max speed ties with Aerodactyl, Crobat will be U-turning out on the SR anyways, making it useless
[Teammates and Counters]
  • A bulky SR/Spikes user is very beneficial to a team using Crobat, as he cannot do so himself. Metagross resists Crobat's Psychic, Rock and Ice weaknesses and can set up SR, while Nattorei resists Psychic, Rock and Electric and can set up both. Swampert is resistant to Rock and immune to Electric and can set up SR and phaze
  • Rapid Spin support is necessary if the team wishes for Crobat to stay alive outside of the Lead position, as he loses 25% every switch from SR
  • ScarfJirachi makes a great lead partner, setting up SR, tricking away the CS, or flinchhaxing.
  • Crobat has multiple bad matchups, as it usually lets Aerodactyl set up SR, and many offensive leads take it down with ease

[SET]
name: HerbalBat
move 1: Curse
move 2: Acrobat
move 3: Steel Wing
move 4: Cross Poison/X-Scissor/Taunt/Quick Attack/Roost
item: White Herb
nature: Jolly
ability: Slip Through
EVs: 4 HP, 252 ATK, 252 SPE

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Curse+White Herb act as a pseudo-Bulk Up, putting his Attack Stat at 418, which is very respectable
  • His defence is also raised, making it harder to take him down via priority. 4x resistance to Mach Punch and Vacuum wave helps
  • Slip Through is chosen because the ability to set up on Dual Screeners and attack the recipient like nothing happened is more useful outside of the lead position, where Fakeout isn't common and it would die to any flinch-haxer anyways
  • Can only set up once, so it is best to wait till late-game
  • Acrobat has nearly the same power as Brave Bird after White Herb is used, but without the recoil. It is resisted by Rock and Steel
  • Steel Wing allows Crobat to bypass Rock types, but it has no option that lets it beat Steel types
  • Cross Poison is the main slash of move 4 simply for STAB
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Any of the other 4 move 4s can be used. X-Scissor hits Psychics that plague Crobat, Taunt allows easier setup, Quick Attack is his only priority move, and Roost allows for survivability, but is incompatible with Slip Through
  • This set is walled by any steel type bar Lucario and non-scarf Genosekuto.
  • Cannot be countered/revenged by Breloom or Roobushin
[Teammates and Counters]
  • Rapid Spin support is essential due to Crobat being a flyer
  • Due to the fact that Steels completely wall him, Magnezone makes a terrific partner to Crobat, as he traps Steels and resists all of his weaknesses. In return, Crobat can block Earthquakes coming his way
  • As a late-game sweeper, entry hazards are vital to his success, particularily Stealth Rock. Therefore, a lead such as Heatran is a great partner for Crobat, as Crobat 4x resists Heatran's 2x weakness, and is immune to his 4x weakness.

[SET]
name: EvilBat
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Heat Wave
move 3: Sludge Bomb/Air Slash
move 4: Giga Drain/Shadow Ball/ HP (Electric)/Roost
item: Life Orb/Leftovers
nature: Timid
ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SPA, 252 SPE

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Nasty Plot boosts his average SPA stat to an exceptional 524 (681 factoring in LO). This combined with 394 SPE and 4x resist to the most common priority in the game makes him an exceptional sweeper
  • Finds many opportunities to switch in, such as Choiced Mach Punches, Ground moves, Grass moves, and Bug moves, all of which are either 4x resisted or Crobat is immune to.
  • Slip Through is incompatible with Heat wave, the most important move on the set, and therefore should not be used
  • Heat Wave hits Steel types that usually end Crobat, making it the most important move on the set. It also hits Ice types SE
  • Sludge Bomb and Air Slash are your two options for necessary STAB, but it is unadvised to run both. Pick your poison (Or your air. GET IT? Hahahaha)
  • Giga Drain is your best option for the final moveslot, as it hits Rock types that resist Heat Wave and both of his STABs, as well as prolonging his life
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Shadow Ball is an option to hit the Psychic types that Crobat does not like
  • HP electric allows Crobat to hit other Flyers SE, as well as Waters so that not as much coverage is lost through the loss of Giga Drain. HP Ice is inferior to HP Electric as Grass is hit SE by every other attack Crobat will carry
  • Roost can restore health, but is generally inferior to Giga Drain, which can do the same, while finishing off enemies
  • This is Crobats only offensive set not walled by steels
  • Cannot be countered/revenged by Breloom or Roobushin
[Teammates and Counters]
  • Rapid Spin support is essential due to Crobat being a flyer
  • With LO recoil, Crobat will not appreciate SS/Hail damage, so non-leftovers EvilBats appreciate a way to get rid of Perma-Sand/Hail. Bronzong blocks most of Crobats weaknesses and is therefore a suitable partner for this.
  • As a late-game sweeper, entry hazards are vital to his success, particularily Stealth Rock. Therefore, a lead such as Heatran is a great partner for Crobat, as Crobat 4x resists Heatran's 2x weakness, and is immune to his 4x weakness.

[SET]
name: BandBat
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: U-Turn
move 3: Pursuit/Quick Attack
move 4: Hypnosis/Quick Attack/Steel Wing
item: Choice Band
nature: Jolly
ability: Slip Through/Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP, 252 ATK, 252 SPE

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Choice Band boosts Crobat's average Attack up to a decent 418, the Same as the HerbalBat, but with no setup required
  • Perfect counter to Shaymin-S, as it can switch into Seed Flare and Earth Power with ease, and outspeed and retaliate with an SE BB or scout the switch-in with U-turn
  • Exceptional revenger to Darkrai, as U-Turn hits SE, and BB will do massive damage anyways, as well as naturally outspeeding it.
  • Great scout hitting boosted U-turns on any switch-in
  • Does massive damage with a reliable 120 BP 100 ACC STAB attack in the form of Brave Bird
  • Makes a decent pursuit user after CB boost
  • Quick Attack bypasses any speed problems, which wont be encounter much with 394 SPE
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Hypnosis can effectively knock out a single opponent, but will force Crobat to switch next turn due to Sleep Clause
  • Steel Wing deals with Rock types
  • Adamant can be used over Jolly, but it is not recommended, as Crobat loses the ability to outspeed anything with a base speed of over 110, therefore losing him as a revenge killer. However, if desired, a spread of 36 HP, 252 ATK, 220 SPE is recommended, to maximized the little bulk he can retain. 220 SPE EVs hits 352 Speed
[Teammates and Counters]
  • Rapid Spin support is essential due to Crobat being a flyer and wanting to U-turn out consistently
  • Due to the fact that Steels completely wall him, Magnezone makes a terrific partner to Crobat, as he traps Steels and resists all of his weaknesses. In return, Crobat can block Earthquakes coming his way
  • As a revenger, his teammates consist of whoever has counters that he can revenge.

Higly consider a Choice Band set. With that kind of speed he naturally outpaces nonscarfed Shaymin-S (who happens to be immune to Flinching, Earth Power, and 4x resist Seed Flare) and Darkrai, hitting them with SE Brave Bird and U-Turn respectively. If Shaymin-S and Darkrai remain in OU tier I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an increase in Crobat usage. Brave Bird, U-Turn, Quick Attack and Steel Wing/Pursuit/Hypnosis would work nicely.

Thanks. Its a a WIP, Im still putting up sets. I wanted a lead, White Herb, Nasty Plot, and CB. They will be put up in that order, don't worry :)

But do you know how to change the name of the title? I cant figure out how

i might be stupid in saying this but is it possible to run nasty plot and giga drain on the same set? they are both egg moves and all and i don't see how you would do it

Crobat can acess both moves if the male parent has Nasty Plot and the female Crobat already has Giga Drain.

Man, CBBat looks like a mess right now. I would suggest unslashing Hypnosis, Quick Attack, and Steel Wing. Quick Attack is very weak without stab AND coming off of 90 ATK. Hypnosis is fairly unreliable enough, and being locked on choiced sleep is bad. And Steel Wing doesn't even 3HKO Max HP Tyranitar.

Pursuit is interesting since the idea of taking a CB Brave Bird is unappealing, so it might have a use here and there (although you will mostly be spamming U-turn and Brave Bird.) Either way, it's filler. If you had to use filler in the last slot, I'd suggest Super Fang (for the record, it IS legal with Slip Through fwiw) to knock 50% off any steel typing trying to take a Brave Bird. Cross Poison looks like a better option too, being able to 2HKO Max HP Zapdos and Voltolos.

Another nitpick, CBBat should probably be more towards the top (probably below Stallbreaker).
