Pokemon Online has a nice "Import from text function," which makes sharing teams a lot easier - yet from what I've seen, no RMTs have taken advantage of this. Many people post teams in the RMT forum for the purpose of showcasing them, anyway - so why not make it easier for people to use these teams? This could be accomplished in several ways, such as by making the inclusion of an importable, text version of the team at the beginning of an RMT the norm through perhaps a suggestion in the rules, an announcement, or just establishing a precedent through many people "doing it." Another idea (which I freely credit to the PO community / ete) is through making a text-based archive of good teams, which could be incorporated with our already-existing RMT archive.

On a side note, the "import from text" function could maybe be helpful in the building of teams (it might be easier to "write" a team up rather than "build it" in some cases - although I haven't tried it). Also, a text-based archive of common Pokemon sets would be convenient, similar to the Shoddy boxes we used last gen - maybe c/pable versions could be included in analyses. Just more food for thought.

I did bring the idea of requiring importables up with RMT staff once, though not in great depth, and I don't think it got far. The system I set up for the PO teams forum requires all teams to have an importable or be locked (and unlocked the moment the writer sends the importable to a staff member), since that is intended as a resource for players rather than simply a way to show off or get help. I'm not sure if that's the direction the Smogon RMT staff want to take their forum, but it's certainly produced good results. Quite a lot of work checking them all and ensuring they have importables, but all the threads are probably checked anyway, and after a few weeks the vast majority of people figured it out.

A soft encouragement would be much less work, and probably the people posting the best teams would go along with it anyway. The team importing system could be a much greater tool for users with a larger collection of ready to use teams. I hope the team staff pick up this idea.

Pokemon Online has a box function, maybe for fifth gen analyses we could add a team builder for those? Just thinking.

Also, it usually is faster to c/p than write up sets, especially for sets with nonstandard ev spreads. I've fooled around with this a little.

To clarify, I said a "suggestion in the rules," not a rule - I didn't mean to imply that this should be made mandatory; in fact, I do support a soft encouragement.

Re: Team stealing - If you don't want people to steal your team, then why are you posting it in a public forum? "Team stealing" is a flawed concept perpetuated by people who are oblivious to the fact that the logistics of Pokemon make the idea of protecting intellectual property such as teams folly.

I thought this thread was about being able to import text from Microsoft Word/Word Pad etc. Similar to the way they use Google Translate
But looks like its not.....Anyway.
I do support this idea however, it will make things incredibly easier, especially for new players.

Although this is not a priority for the RMT forum, I already showed my appreciation for ETE's suggestion and as soon as we manage to get a 5th Gen only forum I'll edit the rules with this "suggestion". Also, as I stated in IS archived threads will all have an exportable file with the archived team itself.
