〜クレセントチーム〜

Introduction:

Hello Smogon~ Cresselia here, with my first ever UU RMT, 〜クレセントチーム〜! This team was made around two of my favorite Pokemon, Cresselia and Umbreon. Together they form an amazing dual-defense core that is only really stopped hard by Heracross, which can be handled by other members on this team. At first I just made this team to have fun with, but after a little thinking I decided to actually make it competitive! I also wanted to emphasize how powerful a P/D/F Core can be, F/W/G are way too mainstream *hipsterglasses.png*. My team's goal was to be able to handle many prominent threats of UU with Pokemon that can cover each other's weaknesses. One thing I will never understand, is how a beast such as Cresselia is stuck in the cold dull shadow of BL2. It can tank hits like a boss and easily cripple things back in return. *sigh*. Anyways, onto the team~

Teambuilding Process:

Umbreon fit onto my team because I wanted a good sturdy Special Wall that could handle the many powerful Special Attackers that run rampant in UU.

Cresselia was added because I love it! And because it would be able to handle many of the Physical Threats that Umbreon struggled with. It also started forming a Defensive Core with Umbreon.

Hitmontop was then added to complete the Psychic/Dark/Fighting core that handles each other's weaknesses very well. Hitmontop also aided both of them with it's access to Intimidate.

Chandelure was added because I wanted a powerful offensive Scarfer that could late-game sweep. It also got the added benefit of having a Rapid Spinner already, Hitmontop. It gets good Synergy with the rest of my team so far. I picked it over Darmanitan because of the added Ghost-Typing.

Flygon was added to this team to add some Tailwind support to it. I know it sounds odd to have Tailwind Flygon, but in my experience, it has been working exceptionally~

Nidoqueen was added next to provide some Hazards for my team, while still being very powerful offensively wise too. It can also absorb the Toxic Spikes that decrease the Longevity of my Pokemon.

Nidoqueen was letting me down too many times, and just wasn't going well on my team. So, I decided to add another great Hazard setter, Roserade.

*sigh* Roserade was not what I had hoped for, and was constantly just dying to soon. So I decided to switch out for a more offensive Pokemon, Rhyperior. Also, I switched out my Flygon for Kingdra, the other prominent Dragon-Type. So far it has been doing FAR better than Flygon. And thus, my team was born =)

クレセリア (Cresselia) @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 96 SDef / 252 HP / 160 Def
Bold Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Thunder Wave
- Lunar Dance

Cresselia is my all-time favorite Pokemon and is also an amazing Pokemon. It can use it's outstanding bulk to wall many common threats in UU such as Mienshao. This Dual Screens set patches up some of my frailer Pokemon's Defense and further boost my bulkier teammates. Thunder Wave is a great move to cripple Pokemon such as Heracross switching in to kill it, then switching into something better suited to handle it. Lunar Dance is a great move to use when Cresselia gets low on health and can bring back in another Pokemon healthy and new. These EV's Maximize and get the most out of Cresselia's phenomenal defenses and allow it to take hits on both sides of the spectrum.

Midknight (Umbreon) @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Toxic
- Foul Play
Umbreon is a great partner to go with Cresselia. It truly excels at stalling with Toxic and keeping itself healthy with Wish and Heal Bell. Heal Bell also cures the rest of my team, keeping them in fighting shape. Honestly, Umbreon is one of the better Pokemon in UU. It's phenomenal bulk and decent Movepool allows it to effectively stall the opposition.

Jack (Hitmontop) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Hi Jump Kick
- Foresight
Oddest Hitmontop set you've ever seen? Probably is. The goal of this set is to spin, with Foresight ensuring it can. Hi Jump Kick and Foresight go well together as it allows Hitmontop to not worry about Ghosts switching in and it taking recoil. Toxic is just there to aid stalling against certain Physical Wallas such as Milotic that it just cannot beat.

Wreckingball (Chandelure) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Trick
Pretty standard ScarfLure. This thing is exceptional at Late-Game sweeping after it's nemesis, Porygon2, has been decimated. Trick is a great move to lock a Pokemon that is using a set-up move into that move. Fire Blast and Shadow Ball give great coverage alongside each other, while Energy Ball allows it to muscle past Swampert and other Water-Types.

Ned (Kingdra) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Substitute
This is one of Kingdra's most deadly sets. After just one Dragon Dance it outspeeds a good portion of the Metagame and also hits an outstanding attack. It's dual Stabs are only resisted by Ferrothorn, a very uncommon Pokemon in UU (in my experience at least). Sub is used over a coverage move because it blocks nasty Paralysis or Burns. Adamant is used over Jolly for the extra firepower.

AC___Rhyperior_by_nintendo_jr.png

poke me, i dare ya (Rhyperior) @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn
Rhyperior is a great addition to any UU Team, and can almost always set up Stealth Rock. It is one of the lucky Pokemon to get STAB on QuakeEdge, while also getting a move that can hit the Grass-Types that resist the combo. This beast can easily pick off foes that attempt to come in on it, even doing alot to Pokemon that normally would stop it like Mienshao, who is OHKO'd on the Switch by Earthquake, while Mienshao 2HKO's with HJK.

This is a pretty solid team you've got going here. I don't want to change any Pokemon in particular because it seems like you can check most things and play around others, but there are some nitpicks or other options you could consider in terms of EV spreads and sets.

I like running 28 Speed EVs on my Rhyperior which puts it at 123 Speed. That lets you outspeed Registeel so it can't Toxic you or set up Stealth Rocks in any situation where your opponent is looking to sack Registeel against a Rhyperior. Additionally, lots of opposing Rhyperior will attempt to speed creep you when you run the Tank spread, and 28 Speed EVs is usually enough to shake off most Rhyperiors you see in the metagame. The spread I'm suggesting is 228 hp / 252 atk / 28 Speed. Additionally, consider running Dragon Tail over Megahorn for phazing purposes, as it can help you rack up damage against switch-ins such as Blastoise and Hitmontop very efficiently, and can save you some trouble if your opponent is trying to pull off something like a Curselax sweep early in the game. Megahorn surely has its merits against things like opposing Cresselia and Shaymin, but your team can handle those pretty well, and Rhyperior isn't guaranteed to beat Cresselia with Megahorn either if it runs Reflect.

Sub + Life Orb Kingdra can sometimes whittle your health down a bit too much -- and when you run Dual Screens, you have more liberty to run something like Leftovers because you have more opportunities to Dragon Dance more to overcome the lack in power. Try running Leftovers on Kingdra as it goes very well with Dual Screen support, and makes Kingdra less susceptible to death by residual damage. It would suck to die to life orb recoil after your opponent keeps on switching back and forth between things just to whittle your health down. Between entry hazards, substitute, and life orb recoil, Kingdra is getting worn down fast. It's a good thing you have Lunar Dance on Cresselia, but I still think you can afford to go Leftovers here.

Make Hitmontop physically defensive with Impish 252 hp / 252 def / 4 sdef, as Stealth Rock users like Gligar, Swampert, and Rhyperior are all physically based, and being able to switch into these Pokemon with the least amount of damage taken is more important than investing in Special Defense. Hitmontop has respectable Special Defense as is, and Hitmontop can often find itself switching into physical threats more often than Special threats due to Intimidate alone. Also, consider Close Combat over HJK because the possibility of missing is make or break for Hitmontop, because it relies so heavily on its bulk to thrive. The extra power from HJK isn't worth it when you have something like Close Combat which is safer to use on a defensive Pokemon, even with the defensive drops. Hitmontop usually doesn't stay in to spam HJK or CC anyways, so the drops don't really matter too much when you run that set.

Lastly, consider Psychic over Thunder Wave on Cresselia, because that Cresselia is Taunt bait. Crobat can beat that Cresselia handily, which sucks considering what Crobat does and what Cresselia does. Instead of paralyzing Heracross on the switch in, you can Psychic it instead. This also is a better method of dealing with Guts CB Heracross, which would rip nearly any team up if given a Paralysis while a Pokemon with no attacks like Cresselia was in on it. You can use it to deal with Fighting-types more handily, because to me it looks like you use Chandelure to beat most Fighting-types, and sometimes a Rhyperior if paralysis is up.

That's about it, good luck with your team! I enjoyed reading this RMT.

Moveset Suggestions:
You should run Protect over Toxic on Umbreon. It absolutely needs Protect, or it can't really wall any of the stuff it should be able to wall. If you don't have Protect, you are forced to take 2 hits instead of 1 every time you want to heal yourself, you just won't be healing back nearly as much HP as you are losing. Many attackers that you should be able to beat 1 on 1, like Specs Kingdra, LO Roserade, Nidoqueen, and Sharpedo take you out super easily because you don't get protection from their attacks the turn after you Wish, they simply muscle their way through you as you get 2 or 3HKOd. Another option is to run Moonlight over Wish, but the utility of Wish is very, very helpful in keeping your pokes healthy. I would also suggest running Toxic and Psyshock over Lunar Dance and Thunder Wave on Cresselia, you can spread Toxic with Cress instead and stall out Toxiced mons with Umbreon. As Plus stated, you could really use an attacking move on Cresselia so you don't get completely set up on. You should use Psyshock so you that CM Raikou doens't set up all over you.
Suggested Changes:
488.png

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def
Careful Nature
- Heal Bell
- Protect
- Wish
- Foul Play

Cresselia @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 96 SDef / 252 HP / 160 Def
Calm Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psyshock
- Toxic

In addition to this I agree with most of the changes that Plus suggested. Hope this helped!

When I see Cress, in any tier, I can't help but Luvdisc. I already have a UU team utilising her, I should try that one , too :p Luvdisc again, God bless the crescent moon! :p I think that changes stated above are pretty solid.

Good team you got there! I have a few suggestions some of which are stated above
1. Psychic > thunderwave on cres. Since yiu are shut down by taunt.
2. I get your reasoning for toxic on umby but as stated above you need protect. Even to screw up mienshao with hjk.
3. Max hp and def on hitmontop instead of max sp def. You may want to try qwilfish > hitmontop. It has great synergy with cres and umbu resisting fighting and bug while they can handle the psychic moves. Also spike stacking and that great base 85 speed stat is very nice! Plus i dont think you really NEED a spinner. Your only sr weak poke is chandy even then you have wish support and lunar dance.
3. Chandy and kingdra are good : )
4. Im finding rhyperior a little out of place. You have a solid def core scarf chandy and boosting kingdra and then tank rhyperior. Your team will have issues with empoleon if hitmontop is gone. I recommend a reliable fighting type that can threaten empoleon and setup sr: cobalion. Taunt cc stealth rock and volt switch are great. It can even act as a great lead. Cres baits the dark attacks which cobalion can use.
Other than that goos team!

You should replace Heal bell or toxic to protect, constant wish passing is unrealistic, other than that its a pretty nice looking team.
