Following the directions given by the ASB Gym League representative, you travel towards the Hoenn desert. After a few days of walking against the wind and scaling the northeastern mountains watching over that sand-blasted place, you find yourself looking at yet another arid desert - but the Gym is nowhere in sight!

Could it be that the League representative is wrong? You try calling with your phone, just to be sure, but the telecommunications company did not extend their coverage to this forsaken, secluded lands. Checking at your provisions, you estimate that you and your Pokemon can survive on your own for another 3 days before you have to journey back. Resigning yourself to another hot week, you walk into the desert. After all, the sky is clear and there's an oasis in sight so why not do a little exploration?

You find yourself regretting that decision 2 days later. Despite being seemingly close, the oasis eludes you - shimmering not so far off, tempting, taunting. What's worse, you wake up on the 3rd day to find yourself half buried and choking in sand - a sandstorm! Struggling to get yourself up, you flail about blindly, the sand stinging every inch of your exposed skin. You can't even reach your buried Pokeballs! All of a sudden, a hand grabs at your collar while a voice yells, "Don't move!" You find yourself being hoisted out of the sand and facing a heavily veiled - and robed - man. "Follow me!" You have no choice - your saviour seems to be native to the desert and any place is certainly better than where you were.

After some time, you reach the man's tent, the entrance facing the leeway of the winds. Pushing yourself inside, you are surprised to see another person present - or rather, guest. "Why, hello there! Got caught up in the storm?"

You nod, then suddenly realise that the man who helped you didn't enter behind you. "Looking for Texas, I suppose? He's the one who helped you. I think he's out again - what business he's up to outside, I don't know."

Sitting on an empty couch, you take the offered waterskin and drink gratefully. "Who is he, and why are you here?"

"Me? Oh I'm a trader. Just stopping by to procure and sell wares to a regular customer, you know. As for Texas - that man - his full name is Texas 'Cloverleaf', son of Ksatria. Now don't go asking me who his father is - I have no idea about that. Point is, he lives here, because apparently he does not want to leave. Again, he has his reasons, and he keeps them to himself. I can tell you why he got that middle name, though - it's a reference to the symbolic ring he wears on his left middle finger, a keepsake from his mother, whom I heard is a native of these lands as well."

"So, uhm, do you know anything about a Dragon Gym in these parts?"

The trader grinned, "Nah, I don't. Texas might, though - knows this region like the back of his hand."

You have to wait until late night before Texas returns, however, and upon hearing your question, his reply was curt. "I'll take you there at sunrise tomorrow - travelling in sandstorm at night is dangerous." And so you have no choice but to satisfy yourself with that answer. tossing and turning in the night as the winds howl incessantly outside.

The next day, the three of you set out, the trader tagging along because "I'd like to see what this Dragon Gym is like". It doesn't take much time before you arrive at the elusive oasis, where the sands glitter like the scales of dragons. Suddenly, Texas whirls upon you.

"Do you swear, upon the Almighty, that you come for the Dragon Gym?"

Caught by surprise, you stammer, "Y-y-yes."

Texas' robe is tossed behind his back at that statement, revealing the Badge he keeps pinned on his tunic.

"Then I swear upon the All-Seeing, the Almighty, the All-Forgiving, that this is the Oasis of Dragons, home to the Dragons of the Sands, and Dragon Gym to the ASB League. I am the Leader, Texas son of Ksatria, and I accept your challenge."

"Should you prove yourself worthy, this Cloverleaf Badge of the Desert is yours. However, before we start, there are things that you must know."

"This Oasis is the sacred land of my mother's tribe, and the ancient djinni guard it fiercely. Should anyone invoke their protection, they will hide the person from an intruder's view with a sandstorm fiercer than any found in Hoenn. Also, the waters here are blessed - they will not freeze easily. Now, arm yourself - by the Almighty and his Prophet, prepare to face the might of the Dragons!"

Arena Effects:
If Sandstorm is used it will remain on the field indefinitely, stacking with other arena effects
+2 BAP to all Fire moves
All Ice type moves of BAP 10 or less AFTER STAB are melted and become Water typed, retaining any secondary effects
Combo constituents are treated separately e.g. Ice Beam+Hyper Beam is Water+Normal assuming no STAB
Pokemon cannot be frozen
Natural Water source available
Natural Rocks available

Have I ever told anyone that I hate deserts? They are dry and far too hot for my taste, but unfortunately that is where the action is going down today.

Welcome one and all to a gym match between Deadfox081, and ASB's very own Dragon leader, Texas Cloverleaf! Without further ado, let's bring out the teams!

Steelix is the pokemon to watch here. It's huge defense, coupled with sturdy, will render any incoming physical attack virtually harmless.

And now that the teams have been introduced, it is time for the traditional coin flip to decide who starts.
[<=5000 Texas, >5000 Deafox]: 3238, Texas!

Texas sends out a pokemon and equips an item.
Deadfox will do the same and order.
Texas counter orders.
I will ref.

Best of luck to the both of you!

n.b. Mega Clause was not stated due to the time of the acceptance post. As this is Gen 6 rules, the lack of Mega Clause defaults the Mega Pokemon allowed to 0.

Take the lead, Dragonite @ Expert Belt!

"Okay Texas, good luck to you. This gym is no doubt going to look a lot different soon when all those Fairies appear so lets give it one last good outing in its current form. You said as it is the gym encouraged mirror matching and indeed you are correct. Dracor it's time to shine! In face you can be a complete mirror with an Expert Belt of your own. But wait a second, maybe there's one minor difference? Use your speed girl!"

Thunder Wave > Wrap > Dragon Rush
IF protective/evasive THEN Blizzard and push back
IF damaging Dragon typed attack AND you are faster THEN Fly and push back

Heal Bell ~ Dragon Tail ~ Substitute (20)

If you are fully paralyzed, push your actions back
If Dragon Tail misses, push actions back

This is contingent on the mechanics cause I'm not really sure, but if Dragon Tail's phazing effect takes priority over Wrap's residual damage effect than Roost a3 instead please

Welcome to the first round of what is sure to be an amazing fight! To start things off, both trainers have chosen their Dragonite and equipped an Expert Belt to give their super effective moves a little extra kick.

deadfox's Dragonite Dracor starts off the round by attempting to paralyze the other dragon with a bolt of electricity. Tempest, not caring at all, just glows and is immediately cured of the pesky paralysis. Dracor, anticipating a super effective move, flies up into the sky, but strikes before Tempest, who hits him with her tail for critical damage, and will force him out of the fight at the end of the round. Dracor then wraps Tempest in his arms and starts to squeeze. Texas' dragonite does not seem to care and creates a copy of herself with her own life force.

Still reeling from Tempest's Dragon Tail, Dracor releases Tempest from the wrap, and is forced back into his pokeball, and Glow the Lucario is brought out in his stead.

Things are still pretty even, deadfox having a slight lead in HP and energy, although Tempest does have a hefty substitute that Lucario must now break through. It is still anyone's game!

Where we last left off, deadfox's Lucario Glow had just taken the field as a result of Tempest's Dragon Tail. deadfox hurriedly throws an Enigma berry to his new combatant, and the round is under way.

Glow, expecting Tempest to try and neutralize her held item, mimics the Dragonite and makes her own substitute, which absorbs the incoming Incinerate, and protects the Enigma Berry. Glow then follows up and strikes the dragon with a Stone Edge, but not dealing enough damage to break her substitute. Tempest then creates a Fire Blast and aims it at the Lucario, but it veers slightly off course and misses. Lucario then goes in close and uses a super effective Dual Chop that not only breaks Tempest's sub, but spills over and hurts the Dragonite herself. Tempest retaliates with a Flamethrower which finally breaks through Glow's own substitute.

Not much ground was gained this round, what will happen next?

You're forgetting one of either Dragonite's Expert Belt or the +2 Fire BAP from the arena, and also that Incinerate calc was a bit out, but none of this effects the end result thanks to the Sub (I knew I needed to make a 25 HP one for it to live a non crit Incinerate, which by the way got buffed to amazing levels this gen.

"Great work girl! That went just as well as we could have expected. But this is not the match up for you long term. Back to Dracor we go."

Counterswitch?

"I was hoping you wouldn't say that."

Blizzard > Dragon Pulse > Draco Meteor
IF Damaging Dragon typed combination THEN Protect and push back
IF Damaging Ice typed combination THEN Protect and push back

Note the Gen VI mechanics, Blizzard has 11 BAP, DMeteor has 13

"A roll of the dice then, just the way we like it."

Welcome to the third round of this exciting gym match! When we last left off, it was Texas' dragonite Tempest vs. Glow the Lucario. After a moments hesitation, deafox recall Glow in favor of using his dragonite Dracor again.

Tempest immediately starts by shielding herself from any incoming attacks, while Dracor goes to try a mighty Blizzard! Tempest successfully protects herself however, and takes no damage. Dracor responds to this by unleashing a fierce Dragon Pulse, striking Tempest for a great deal of damage. Tempest tries to use her own blizzard, but it completely misses Dracor, and dissipates in the desert heat. Dracor, sensing the end is nigh for Tempest, unleashed the dragon type's signature move: Draco Meteor! The meteor strikes the poor Tempest and sends her reeling, barely able to hold on. Tempest once again tries to go for a Blizzard, but it seems luck is not on Texas' side tonight, for it too misses.

Hax has gotten the better of Texas this round, will he be able to recover?

If Bide THEN Substitute (15) on a1 of Bide and Thunder Wave on a2 of Bide and push back
[Once Only] If Damaging Evasive AND you are slower THEN Trick Room and push actions back

"You've done so well Dracor, but this time around you may have to take some damage to play a bit of set up. If we are lucky then we can take away his choice in last team member."

Incinerate > Roar > Dragon Pulse
IF you win the speed tie on action 3 THEN Fly

I can guarantee I have previously been told that such a sub is legal and have used it. It was a long time ago and I don't know where to dig it up from but I definitely used it. Second of all it pretty much perfectly fits the description of a Chance Clause, as the speed tie RNG is akin to a burn/paralysis/seconday effect/crit RNG roll.

Slasher was dragged out!

Texas decides to switch out his badly injured Dragonite in favor of his Cyclohm Behemoth. He equips an Enigma Berry to help deal with any super effective attacks that might come from Dracor.

The two pokemon, both the same speed act at the same time, with Behemoth being the quicker of the two this time. She fires off a potent Blizzard that strikes Dracor for some massive damage. Dracor wants to immediately get rid of that troublesome berry however, and scorches it away with an Incinerate. Behemoth fires off another deadly Blizzard at the Dragonite, again hitting for enormous damage. Dracor just Roars in defiance however, and will make Behemoth switch out at the end of the round. Again, acting at nearly the same speed, Behemoth readies a powerful Draco Meteor, while Dracor starts a Dragon Pulse. Unfortunately for the Dragonite, Behemoth was again a tad faster and strikes before, knocking out the Dragonite. The Cychlom has no chance to revel in her victory however, and Dracor's Roar takes effect, and she switches place with Slasher the Haxorus.

A complete 180 degrees from the previous round, Texas emerges largely unscathed from the round, how will deadfox react?

"Well the majority of luck definitely didn't go our way there, but at least the berry is out of the way and we managed to get the switch we wanted. Slam it's time to shine! Have a Focus Sash to increase your longevity and thank Arceus for Rivalry. Actually Enable Sheer Force too, because why not."

Stealth Rock > Earthquake > Double Edge
IF Taunt action 1 THEN Double Edge
IF Counter action 2 or 3 THEN Earth Power

PS: you should probably move things like Endeavour, Counter and Confide from the "other" attacks list since they are damaging attacks. I had initially missed it in the movepool.
