[Ground] Leader Its_A_Random vs Challenger Pwnemon: Too much grrr in this grass vs ground!

Welcome one and welcome all to the race track! Here we can watch a bunch of motorheads drive around in circles on top of not just asphalt, but dirt! This amps the excitement up to at least level ten! Wow! Cars! Vroom vroom!

Oh yeah, and there is a gym battle...

Rules:
4v4 Singles (Leader brings 7, chooses 4)
3 Day Player DQ Time
∞ Recoveries/∞ Chills per Pokémon
3 Substitutions
Switch = OK
Abilities = ALL
Items = ON; No "Training Items" Permitted
Mega Evolutions = ZERO
Turn Order = Coin-Flip
Arena = Ground Gym
Arena: Ground Gym
Field Type
: Ground
Complexity: Intense
Format: All

Restrictions: No Natural Grass, No External Water Source, Only Sandstorm & Clear weather permitted, Indoor Arena

Description: TBD

Mechanics:
  • Nature Power calls Land's Wrath. Secret Power has a 30% chance to lower the foe's Speed by 1 Stage.
  • The mixture of sand & dirt makes Dig easier to execute & gain height on attack, reducing its Energy cost by 2, & enabling the user to hit a target under the effects of Levitate/Magnet Rise/Telekinesis irrespective of Size Class.
  • Pokémon cannot have their typing altered through any means, while Double Team & Illusion have no effect. The lights in the arena shine brightly enough to expose the disguises a Pokémon may have.
  • Grassy Terrain's duration is halved. The sand-dirt mixture does not really allow for grass to grow, making it wilt very quickly.
  • Sandstorm when summoned lasts for five rounds as opposed to four (eight with a Smooth Rock). The sand on the arena floor provides enough fuel for a Sandstorm to last longer.
Summary: Another Ground-type Gym I guess?

Now, take a look at IAR's team. Leading the charge is the fearsome duo of Capers and Sleast, two of the most legendary Pokemon in CAP ASB. They certainly have about a million battles under their belt and at least as many KOes - nothing can truly compare to their reputation. However, I believe the star of this show will be one of IAR's lesser used groundmons - King Odin the Nidoking. His poison-typing and strong offense means he is the leader's best bet for taking down the fearsome Ludicolo, which is sure to be a threat in this match!

Now, the challenger Pwnemon is well-known for his tournament victory, grass leadership, and generally good battling skills. Usually known for his talent in doubles, Pwnemon is certainly no slouch in dumb boring single battles either. Pwnemon brought some of his trusty grass-types, as well as the powerful Kingdra and a ground-type of his own. Looking to beat the leader at his own game? Most importantly, Pwnemon has Emma the Ludicolo, because Ludicolo is strong.

1. Coin flip says Pwnemon sends out first and equips item
2. IAR follows suit, then goes the extra mile and gets a gold star by ordering
3. Pwnemon begrudgingly doesn't want to get outdone, so he orders as well
4. I do things without you pestering me ideally

Two mighty titans clash in the middle of this racetrack tonight! While the cars race around, these two speedy ground-types try their best to keep up! Sid the Collosoil races alongside the cars while Capers the Gliscor zooms above them. That is, until Sid lands squarely on his face and knocks him to the ground twitching and itemless. How unfortunate. The challenger has nice little lead after round one, let's see if he can keep it!

A couple errors:

Gliscor has rank 3 attack, not rank 5. Aqua tail should do (9)*1.5=13.5 damage

Gliscor's first sub means it uses Taunt a1

So soil should end the round with 106 HP. And only now do I realize that had I been smart, it would have been 107...

Error noted two posts above still needs fixing.

"Okay okay okay... Time to send this thing into the dirt!"

Sky Attack > Aerial Ace + Guillotine combo > N/A (Sky Attack)
IF
you are fully paralysed, THEN push actions back.
IF Aerial Ace + Guillotine is ruled as invalid, THEN replace Aerial Ace + Guillotine combo with Sky Attack + Sky Attack combo.

The challenger takes a bold and risky switch by sending in his most powerful anti-ground mon, Emma the Ludicolo. However, it appears the leader was completely prepared for this developement, and crushes the innocent grass-type with some mighty flying-type combos before Capers goes down. With the leader ordering first though, anything can change...

Round 4!

Frosty here subreffing!

...I wished I got a buck everytime I say that.

ANYWAY.

The Challenger sends back Sid the Colossoil against the Leader's Fidgit.

Which isn't a good matchup for the leader.

At all...

Because of that, he decided to give up his round ordering last, as well as precious health, to get a more...manageable mon in, by using a combination of Encore and Whirlwind. But in terms of sheer numbers, nothing was accomplished.

That Colossoil gave the challenger a fuckload of momentum and we are playing his game right now. The leader will need to change the flow of battle and assure his game prevails or else this battle may not have the desired result.

Specially since this arena isn't doing the leader any favors haha.

Still. Could be worse. Could be ordering first against a Kingdra. Or could be ordering a Poison Sting combo when you do not have the move. What hope do I have at this point. Maybe I am just not up to scratch anymore.

Sludge Wave > Sludge Bomb > Sludge Wave
IF
(Damaging Priority Combo) is issued, THEN use Quick Guard that action.
IF (Damaging Ice Combo) is issued, THEN use Protect that action.
IF (Damaging Ice Move) is issued, AND Ice Shard is used the next action, THEN on the first instance only, use Dig (Suspend) that action (i.e. when Damaging Ice Move is used), AND use Dig (Release) the next action.

I guess we can pick something that will be the least screwed over against these three things plus Abomasnow...

Iron Chain (M) @ Life Orb

[Toggle Sheer Force ON]

Stratos

Banned deucer.
switching to Kingdra @ Dragon Scale

(this is the part where you counterswitch to Gastrodon)

Sleast (M) @ Rare Candy

Earth Power > Mud Bomb > Earth Power
IF
(Protective/Evasive Move) is used successfully, THEN use Earthquake that action, pushing actions back.
IF (Non-Combo) Bounce is used, AND Dig is not disabled, THEN use Dig that action, pushing actions back.
IF Draco Meteor is used, AND Mirror Coat is not disabled, THEN use Mirror Coat that action, pushing actions back.
