ALMAZ MINE
Difficulty: Legendary
Requirements: N/A

Opening Text
Almaz Mine was an underground diamond mine that was initially owned by Russians several decades ago. The Russians used to mine here for a long time and became a major source for diamonds. However after reports of several Russian miners going missing within the space of a few weeks, the initial owners sold it off to another company, not wanting to lose any more miners. The new owners fared little better as over the next few weeks, more miners went missing which then forced the owners to abandon the mine.

Nowadays the mine has been long abandoned and there is still no explanation for the disappearances. However, rumours have recently surfaced of a mysterious Pokémon living deep in these abandoned mines which while have intrigued many Pokémon trainers, no one has dared entered the mine hitherto; you could be the first. Given it is an abandoned mine however, it could be very dangerous trawling through this mine. You better hope you are prepared.

Referee Overview
Almaz Mine is a TLR that essentially has two difficulty settings, decided in basically the first proper update of the TLR. In general, not taking the diamond at the start represents a Normal Difficulty run while taking the diamond represents a Hard Difficulty run. In normal mode, the TLR is sane and fairly mild with a natural difficulty scaling as you get near the end. It is still hard to win but it is difficult and the TLR will pull tricks at you to make capturing Diancie a challenge. In hard mode however, the TLR becomes brutal, an Uber-esque TLR in a Legendary Difficulty dungeon. The difficulty spike ranges from harder arenas, harder encounters and more punishing scenarios. If the player succeeds on this difficulty, then they will have an incredibly powerful mega evolving legendary in their hands.

The TLR starts on Normal Mode with a simple lackey fight with no strings attached. After two mine cart-centric RP's, the player comes to the Guardians where the player must fight two annoying Pokémon with enough firepower to worry the player. The player must also be wary of mine carts that can be thrown at their Pokémon. After this, the player must endure two higher difficulty RP's before finally hitting the boss, where the player has two deal with two slow, powerful opponents that are both capable of severe damage if the player is not careful.

The TLR starts on Hard Mode with two tough, fully evolved Pokémon with a tough arena geared towards elemental advantages and whatnot. After the fight, the player then endures the two RP's on Normal Mode, but with a higher difficulty. After this, the player then comes across a very tough pair of Guardians which will not only harass but with a minimal combination timer and some very powerful attacks, will likely send the player running for cover. Granbull in particular with its very high Attack rank, especially when mine carts are thrown into the mix. Should they survive, then they must go through the same RP's but with a high difficulty. After that, Diancie beckons and with two powerful mega evolutions and a constant sandstorm to deal with, the the player will find themselves in a situation where one mistake could spell doom for them.

Those who want the Jewel Pokémon have their work cut out for themselves, but those who want the Jewel Pokémon AND its mega stone will have to endure hell on a Legendary Difficulty scale.

Ground Rulings

DROPS
If a Pokémon is listed as having a drop item, then the player only gets the drop item instead. Otherwise, the Pokémon drops their held item, provided it is not partially/fully consumed.

Additionally, if that Pokémon has an item initially belonging to the Trainer, and it faints with the item, then the item is returned to the trainer, and its initial item is replaced with the drop item.

GHOST POKÉMON
Ghost Pokémon do not have a CHP Value and therefore, cannot be captured. Players can throw a ball at them if they want; only it will go right through the Pokémon and they will waste an item.

Arena Details

Abandoned Mine Cart Room (NM)

The room here is a wide open expanse with a high ceiling and several mine cart tracks above. You are on the floor of this area and there are several mine carts around the area that have seen better days and are derailed, no longer useful to use. Maybe you could use these to your favour before the opponents use them against you? The floor seems to be bright enough to make the STAB power of everyone's moves quite accurate.

  • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, Poor Sunlight, Only Sandstorm Weather permitted.
  • Combination Timers: 2 (Status), 2 (Damaging).
  • There are five mine carts in the arena. Any Pokémon can use Strength, Psychic, Telekinesis, Sky Drop, or Circle/Storm/Vital Throw on them and throw them at another Pokémon. This deals Damage equal to a Physical 10 BAP Fighting-type attack. The used Mine Cart disappears after use (Syntax: <Move> (Mine Cart -> <Target>)).
    • In the case of Sky Drop, the user takes the Mine Cart into the air and not the target. Assume WC 4 for the Energy cost of each move that considers target WC.
    • The heavy impact of the mine carts will pierce Bodyblock and Take Cover (Full damage to both Pokémon).
  • All Pokémon have a flat 10% Accuracy Bonus on STAB moves.

Abandoned Mine Cart Room (HM)

The room here is a wide open expanse with a high ceiling and several mine cart tracks above. You are on the floor of this area and there are several mine carts around the area that have seen better days and are derailed, no longer useful to use. Maybe you could use these to your favour before the opponents use them against you? The opponents seem to be used enough to the arena to improve the accuracy of their STAB moves however.

  • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, Poor Sunlight.
  • Combination Timers: 1 (Status), 1 (Damaging).
  • There are eight mine carts in the arena. Any Pokémon can use Strength, Psychic, Telekinesis, Sky Drop, or Circle/Storm/Vital Throw on them and throw them at another Pokémon. This deals Damage equal to a Physical 14 BAP Fighting-type attack. The used Mine Cart disappears after use (Syntax: <Move> (Mine Cart -> <Target>)).
    • In the case of Sky Drop, the user takes the Mine Cart into the air and not the target. Assume WC 4 for the Energy cost of each move that considers target WC.
    • The heavy impact of the mine carts will pierce Bodyblock and Take Cover (Full damage to both Pokémon) as well as the target's protective barriers.
  • All Guardian Pokémon have a flat 20% Accuracy Bonus on STAB moves.

Almaz Pit (NM)

The depths of this mine is home to a pit where our legendary of the dungeon resides. The two Pokémon here have adapted very well to this place and each other, twisting the arena in their favour. There are also two mine carts here which can be thrown to deal heavy damage. Aside from the usual perks of this mine, there is not much else here except that Diancie has mastered the power to throw up a shield made of diamonds for protection.

  • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, No Sunlight, Only Sandstorm Weather permitted.
  • Combination Timers: 2 (Status), 2 (Damaging).
  • Diancie's Item cannot be removed but it can be negated.
  • Diancie and Rhyperior both have Telepathy in addition to their normal abilities.
  • All Rock-type moves have a flat 20% Accuracy bonus.

  • Diancie knows Diamond Shield in addition to normal moves.
Diamond Shield said:
Diamond Shield: The Pokémon thrusts up a shield of diamonds that protects the team from taking damage and being affected by attacks. The diamond shield has 30 HP and Rank 4 Defence and Sp. Defence. If the HP drops to 0, it breaks and deals one (1) damage to each member on the opposing team due to it breaking. If used, Diamond Shield cannot be used again for the next four (4) rounds. Moves that pierce Substitute pierce Diamond Shield. This move can be snatched, but it cannot be reflected by Magic Coat.

Almaz Pit (HM)

The depths of this mine is home to a pit where our legendary of the dungeon resides. The two Pokémon here have adapted very well to this place and each other, twisting the arena in their favour. There are also three mine carts here which can be thrown to deal heavy damage. Both Pokémon can mega evolve here on their own and whenever a sandstorm is kicked up, it evolves into a nastier diamond storm! Aside from the usual perks of this mine, there is not much else here except that Diancie has mastered the power to throw up a sturdy wall made of diamonds for protection.

  • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, No Sunlight, Only Sandstorm Weather permitted.
  • Combination Timers: 1 (Status), 1 (Damaging).
  • Sandstorm if called by move or ability transforms into a Diamond Storm.
    • 3 DPA ±1 for each time a Pokémon is weak to or resists Rock. Rock-types are immune, likewise Pokémon who carry Sand Stream, Sand Veil, Sand Rush, and Sand Force.
    • Sand Veil, Sand Rush, and Sand Force work normally, Special Attacks have their BAP reduced by two (2) when used against a Rock-type.
    • Rock-type Attacks, Dazzling Gleam have their BAP increased by three (3).
  • Diancie and Tyranitar can both mega evolve without the need of a trainer (Both can mega simultaneously).
  • Diancie and Tyranitar both have Telepathy in addition to their normal abilities.
  • All Rock-type moves have -- Accuracy.
  • There are three mine carts in the arena. Any Pokémon can use Strength, Psychic, Telekinesis, Sky Drop, or Circle/Storm/Vital Throw on them and throw them at another Pokémon. Carbink Lair (NM)

This place is home of the Carbink and as a result, the Carbink have twisted the arena to suit themselves. The place itself is dark and somewhat cramped with some decent illumination, but the floor here is pretty rocky. You will need to be careful around here if you want to win.

  • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, No Sunlight, Only Sandstorm Weather permitted.
  • Combination Timers: 1 (Status), 1 (Damaging).

Carbink Lair (HM)

This place is home of the Carbink and as a result, the Carbink have twisted the arena to suit themselves. The place itself is dark and somewhat cramped with some decent illumination, but the floor here is pretty rocky. • Arena Type: Cave.
  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, Poor Sunlight.
  • Combination Timers: 1 (Status), 1 (Damaging).

Miner's Break Room (HM)

  • Restrictions: No External Water Source, No External Grass, Poor Sunlight.
  • Combination Timers: 1 (Status), 2 (Damaging).

RP Scenarios

Almaz Mine - Diamond in the Rust

Upon heading into the mine, you start to walk down the path defined by the mine cart trail through the tunnel. The place seems to be well illuminated despite being abandoned for so long. Eventually you notice something shiny on the ground. You examine it and you realise that you have found a real diamond! You can pick it up and sell it at a later date once you leave this mine but it is so conveniently placed that it could be a trap. There is no turning back at this point so you will need to make a decision. What will you do?

Player Options
a) Pick up the diamond.
b) Leave the diamond where it is.

a) Pick up the diamond.

It is not every day you come across something valuable so you pick up the diamond and store it in your bag. It might have set off a trap in the distance but hey, you will be rich when you leave this place! Right? Right? Nevertheless you move on deeper into the mine, wondering what dangers await you...

[REF NOTE] This triggers the Hard Mode setting of this TLR. For each Scenario, please use CASE HARD instead of CASE NORMAL when directed.

b) Leave the diamond where it is.

You decide that picking up the diamond is not really worth it so you ignore it and move on deeper into the mine, wondering what dangers await you...

[REF NOTE] This triggers the Normal Mode setting of this TLR. For each Scenario, please use CASE NORMAL instead of CASE HARD when directed.

Continuing your trek down the tunnel, you come to what looks like the first proper room you have come to since entering this mine. The area is pretty wide, somewhat illuminated and seemingly endless manmade objects that have been long abandoned as evidenced by the numerous cobwebs and dustmites on the objects as you approached one of them. After examining the object, you turn around and notice a(n) {Aron/Graveler/Kirlia} and a(n) {Aron/Graveler/Kirlia} looking at you. It seems like you have invaded their territory as the two pounce on you. Time to show these two a lesson before they school you.

Arena: Miner's Break Room (NM)

[REF NOTE] Initiate a Lackey Battle with two of Aron, Graveler, and Kirlia.

After {taking out/capturing} the last of the lackeys, you tend to your team and find an exit to this place that you did not notice before. Sadly there are no mine carts here so you are going to have to take the long road down the tunnel. Nevertheless you take the tunnel, hoping it will take you towards your destination.

Almaz Mine - Rusted Mine Cart

After a long walk down the tunnel, you come to an area where there is a mine cart here, except it is blocking the tunnel moving on further and that it seems rusted as all hell. CASE NORMAL

CASE Azumarill

You step back and the Pokémon awakes before springing out of the chest; it was an Azumarill! The Azumarill coughs and splutters before approaching you... it must like you! After patting you, the Azumarill jumps back and raises its arm. It looks like it wants to be your friend but it wants you to prove your worth in a 1v1! The Azumarill coughs once more. Who do you send in to take on the Azumarill?

Arena: Mining Area

[REF NOTE] Initiate Rare Encounter fight vs. Azumarill.

Almaz Mine - Breaking the Fourth Wall

After thirty seconds of walking, you come to a narrow area with a high expanse. Directly ahead of you is a construct made of diamonds that blocks your path. You could try and take down the wall and create a clean path through. Alternatively, there is a narrow tunnel that allows you to easily bypass the wall of diamonds and save you the effort of destroying it. What will you do?

Player Options
a) Have {Pokémon} use {Move} on the diamond wall.
b) Take the narrow path past the wall.

a) Have {Pokémon} use {Move} on the diamond wall.

[REF NOTE] On Normal Mode, assume the Wall to be a Rock-type with 50 HP, Rank 4 Defence and Sp. Defence. On Hard Mode, assume the Wall to be a Rock-type with 75 HP, Rank 5 Defence and Sp. Defence. On both modes, the wall is SC 7, WC None (Moves that use target WC will not work) and a speed of 0. Calculate damage against the wall and then apply the following events depending on whether it breaks or not (The Pokémon expends energy for using the move).

CASE Wall HP <= 0.5

You have {Pokémon} use {Move} on the diamond wall. After the attack makes contact, the wall finally starts to break down into a heap! You run away in time but your Pokémon are not as lucky and they each take 5 Damage from the collapse. You now find that there is a clean path through and you take it, progressing deeper into the mine.

CASE Wall HP > 0.5

You have {Pokémon} use {Move} on the diamond wall. After the attack makes contact, the wall takes damage but it suddenly reflects back and {Pokémon} takes damage from the attack! You tend to your Pokémon as the wall continues to stand. What do you do now?

[REF NOTE] Calculate damage against {Pokémon} equal to FLOOR(DMG Dealt × 0.8) and present same options.

Almaz Mine - Almaz Pit

CASE NORMAL

After a few minutes walking along the path—admiring the ever increasing sight of diamonds—you come to what looks to be the depths of Almaz Mine. Here you come across a large room with open spaces and no new visible paths; this must be a dead end. The amount of diamonds in this room was a sight to behold! Diamonds on the ceiling, diamonds on the walls, even some diamonds on the floor! You also spot a couple of mine carts on the floor as well as a couple of skeletons of what used to be humans. You take a look to the right and notice what appeared to be a throne. Sitting on the throne was an alien-like creature with diamonds on it and guarding it were several Carbink. You feel like you could turn back but at this point, the lure of diamonds and the alien like creature compelled you to keep going.

You walk a few steps and then approach the throne. As you start to head towards the throne however, the Carbink attack you. After being knocked to your feet, the creature waved enough and the Carbink left the area and summoned a pile of rocks, sealing the exit. The creature—revealing itself to be a Diancie—approaches you, it seems like it likes your tenacity and the fact that you even got here impresses it. The Diancie then decides it wants to prove your worth. At the swipe of a wrist, a Rhyperior comes to join it on its side. The Diancie reveals a herb and puts its battle face on. It is time to show the Diancie who is boss!

At the swipe of a wrist, a Tyranitar holding a strange stone comes to join it on its side. The Diancie reveals a strange stone of its own and puts its battle face on. It is time to show the Diancie who is boss!
