And of course, Pyroak, the mightiest of oaks and flames alike."

"But he never expected what was to come. His challenger brought in tow myths and legends, Pokemon most only dreamt about. Tyranitar, the beast that can topples mountains and cities alike. Suicune, seen by few, marveled at by all. And Garchomp, striking fear into all who see it."

"Two Poke Balls flew smoothly to the arena, from which the two mightiest beasts glared each other down. The Fire trainer stared down the very same sight he commanded upon others, the draconic Garchomp towering over him. Meanwhile, his foe stared down his Pyroak, no fear visible in either. Hours seemed to pass. Finally, both moved in unison, although neither attacked. Within seconds, a ring of rocks circled the arena, like Stratagem preparing to strike."

"Channeling its experience from times long past, Volkraken sensed the dragon's earth-shattering blow with ample time, and made a repeat performance of its protection. An even brighter barrier surrounding it, emanating a soft green hue. Garchomp refused to give in to the defense, splitting the ground once again to little avail, a slight scowl appearing on its trainer's face. Once again, Volkraken landed gracefully, this time with some significant exhaustion beginning to show. The Fire trainer beckoned to its Pokemon, signalling a familiar command. Across the arena, his opponent stood straight-faced, signalling similarly."

"What about Char-chomp?"
"Finally, Volkraken had had enough of feebly protecting itself, and began its serious fightback. Calling upon its inner energy, it produced a multitude of glowing rings orbiting around itself, chilling the air surrounding it and shimmering with the same pale blue of the tips of its tentacles. Volkraken readied its materialised aura and fired it powerfully at the legs of its draconic opponent, knocking it back into the arena's wall behind it. Steadying itself with its strong hind legs and stronger arms, Garchomp whipped its tail with brute force, flinging its mollusc foe all the way back to its trainer. Volkraken cautiously slithered back into the arena, apprehensively eyeing the rocks above it, prepared for the extra attack that never came."
"Now what?"
"Did Vol-ra-ra win?"
"Well, Volkraken was met by the same move it dodged so well previously. The earth below its body split, hanging on desperately with its tentacles clinging to opposite walls of its newly-formed crevice. The fire octopus climbed back up to the surface, where it continued to channel its aura, more rings forming around its body. Carefully observing Garchomp's every movement, Volkraken shot the rings once again at its foe, this time getting a hit directly into its chest."

"Now did Vol-ra-ra win this?"
"Not yet. Even more tremors shook the ground as Garchomp summoned another quake, Volkraken once again caught in its epicentre. It climbed out again, this time even more sluggishly than before, revealing a tear in the sash wrapped around its body. It was unperturbed, however, as it summoned its energy a third time, blasting the chilling power this time into its enemy's stomach. Garchomp let out a roar in response, to which Volkraken retreated all the way into its Poke Ball, accidentally nudging Infernape's to release it to the field without its trainer's realisation or decision. Another smirk revealed itself on the challenger's face, silently chuckling at his opponent's clumsiness. Meanwhile, the Fire trainer rushed to prepare the third and final of his Pokemon for its premature entry."

Much like Volkraken, a swarm of rocks manifested themselves around the monkey, scratching its arms and its headband alike. These stones, however, were to be its toughest opponent so far. Across the area, Garchomp struggled to stand, its frontside covered in bruises and its fins adorned with deeper cuts than usual. Meanwhile, Infernape hopped unfazed, ready to take on its foe."

"In a word, yes. A high-speed flurry on flashing stars was all it took, connecting directly with the red target on Garchomp's chest, blasting it into the wall.
