Overview
########
- Gained an awesome new mega evolution this gen
- Great offensive STABs
- Only automatic setter of hail
- Good mixed offensive stats
- Able to spam 100% accurate Blizzards
- Access to priority in Ice Shard
- Great Trick Room user
- Terrible defensive typing
- Very slow outside of Trick Room
Trick Room Sweeper
########
name: Trick Room Sweeper
move 1: Ice Shard
move 2: Blizzard
move 3: Wood Hammer / Giga Drain
move 4: Earthquake
ability: Soundproof -> Snow Warning
item: Abomasite
evs: 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
nature: Brave / Quiet
ivs: 0 Spe
Moves
=========
- Ice Shard is a STAB priority move, but is best used outside of Trick Room
- Blizzard works well with Snow Warning as it is a powerful STAB that has perfect accuracy in hail
- Wood Hammer is a powerful physical STAB that has a downfall of having high recoil
- Giga Drain is a special Grass-type STAB that doesn't have recoil and actually gains back HP, but isn't as strong
- Earthquake gets rid of Steel-types that would be a problem and hits Fire-types on the switch
Set Details
========
- Since this set is completely offensive, 252 EVs are placed in both attacking stats
- Brave or Quiet both benefit one attacking stat and lower Speed and is based purely on what the user wants, and it is necessary to lower Speed to allow this set to function well on Trick Room teams
- 0 Speed IVs with a Speed hindering nature make Abomasnow as slow as possible, allowing it be a huge threat on Trick Room teams
- 4 SpD gives Porygon-Z the wrong Download boost
- Although minor, Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it allows Mega Abomasnow to switch into Exploud's Boomburst and hail isn't exactly beneficial for the team unless Mega Abomasnow is taking advantage of it
Usage Tips
========
- If no other teammates are taking advantage of it, Mega Abomasnow should come in on the first turn of Trick Room after an teammate has set it up
- During the Trick Room effect, Mega Abomasnow only needs to worry about attacking
Team Options
========
- Good Trick Room setters such as Reuniclus and Bronzong are bulky enough to set up Trick Room which make them great teammates for Mega Abomasnow
- Before Mega Abomasnow begins sweeping with Trick Room, faster Pokemon such as Mienshao should come in prior to take out his Steel-type threats such as Registeel and Mega Aggron
- Rotom-H can trick a Choice Scarf to make opposing Pokemon faster, guaranteeing that they will be slower under the Trick Room effect
Bulky Mixed Attacker
########
name: Bulky Mixed Attacker
move 1: Blizzard
move 2: Wood Hammer / Giga Drain
move 3: Ice Shard
move 4: Earthquake
ability: Soundproof -> Snow Warning
item: Abomasite
evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpA
nature: Lonely
Moves
========
- Blizzard is a very powerful STAB that is perfectly accurate in Hail
- Wood Hammer is a very powerful physical STAB that has huge recoil
- Giga Drain is a special alternative that is significantly weaker but regains health for Mega Abomasnow
- Ice Shard is a STAB priority move that is good at finishing off threats
- Earthquake hits Fire-types on the switch and OHKOs them most of the time
Set Details
========
- 248 HP EVs add bulk to Mega Abomasnow and allows him to switch in to Stealth Rock more times
- 252 Atk EVs with a Lonely nature max out Abomasnow's Attack without hindering Abomasnow's Special Attack, and boost the power of Earthquake, Wood Hammer, and Ice Shard
- Although minor, Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it allows Mega Abomasnow to switch into Exploud's Boomburst and hail isn't exactly beneficial for the team unless Mega Abomasnow is taking advantage of it
Usage Tips
========
- Mega Abomasnow only needs to worry about attacking, which is his only duty. However, it is advised to predict when a Fire-type will switch in to take the damage from Blizzard or Wood Hammer and then hit them hard with Earthquake
- This set should be used as a wallbreaker, not a sweeper, as Mega Abomasnow is too slow to sweep
Team Options
========
- Mienshao is an excellent partner to get rid of Steel-types such as Metagross and Registeel its Reckless High Jump Kick as Mega Abomasnow will either be crippled or KOd before it can 2HKO with Earthquake
- Rotom-H can take any hit that Fire-types can offer, and cripple Fighting-types with Will-O-Wisp, as well as hurt
- Blastoise provides Rapid Spin support against Stealth Rock, which is a huge problem for Mega Abomasnow
Other Options
########
- Mega Abomasnow can run a SubSeed set which was very good tast gen, but faces too many threats such as Victini and Darmanitan in UU to use it effectively.
- A Swords Dance set with Wood Hammer / Ice Shard / Earthquake / Swords Dance can work, but Mega Abomasnow is too slow to make use of it outside of Trick Room
- A Choice Scarf set can be used to outspeed Hydreigon, but outside of its Mega forme, Mega Abomasnow isn't as strong
- Hidden Power and Shadow Ball can be used as semi-coverage moves, but Mega Abomasnow is good as it is
Checks & Counters
########
**Fire-types** Darmanitan, Rotom-H, and Victini all can outspeed Mega Abomasnow and OHKO them with a Fire STAB
**Steel-types** Without Fighting-type teammates, Steel-types usually can cripple or KO Mega Abomasnow before it can effectively use Earthquake
**Fighting-types** Mienshao and Heracross both outspeed and OHKO Mega Abomasnow
**Stall** Florges and Umbreon can easily stall out Mega Abomasnow as it can't 2HKO Umbreon nor can it 2HKO Florges (depending on what varient) and they can both stall out Mega Abomasnow with Toxic
**Priority** Abomasnow is weak to common priority such as Lucario's Bullet Punch, as it takes a huge chunk out Mega Abomasnow and can finish it off, and is a threat even in Trick Room
