[OVERVIEW]

Alolan Persian is a decent physically defensive pivot thanks to Fur Coat and its access to Parting Shot. It also has a good movepool, which features utility moves in Parting Shot and Taunt that allow it to deal with a variety of threats, and its access to Foul Play also allows it to deal heavy damage to physical attackers. Furthermore, Alolan Persian has a great Speed tier that allows it to quickly escape from danger with Parting Shot before the foe can attack while also allowing it to Taunt bulkier Pokemon with ease. Fur Coat, Alolan Persian's premier ability, doubles its low Defense stat, allowing it to soak up physical attacks before lowering the foe's offensive stats with Parting Shot. However, a mono-Dark typing leaves Alolan Persian vulnerable to strong Fairy-, Fighting-, and Bug-type Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Kommo-o, and Escavalier. Alolan Persian also has bad offensive stats that force it to use Foul Play for damage, which, in combination with its low Special Defense, leaves it vulnerable to strong special attackers.

Parting Shot allows Alolan Persian to pivot out of threats while lowering their offensive stats. With a Darkinium Z, it can also fully heal a teammate once. Foul Play is Alolan Persian's only attack and allows it to hit physical attackers hard. Toxic deals passive damage to most Pokemon and also hits Kommo-o, which Alolan Persian otherwise cannot touch. It also targets bulky Pokemon like Milotic. Taunt shuts down bulky walls like Bronzong and Umbreon, making them easier for teammates to break down.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature maximize Alolan Persian's Speed, making full use of its great Speed tier, and 252 HP EVs maximize Alolan Persian's overall bulk. Darkinium Z allows Alolan Persian to use Z-Parting Shot, which is a one-time move that fully heals the teammate that is brought in after Alolan Persian pivots out. Fur Coat doubles Alolan Persian's Defense, allowing it to take physical hits much better.

Usage Tips
========

It is best to switch Alolan Persian into physical threats like Dhelmise due to Fur Coat and then to use Foul Play to weaken them and then Parting Shot to pivot out. In general, it is best to freely spam Parting Shot because it has 32 PP. Remove Alolan Persian's checks like Kommo-o before sending it in, especially as Alolan Persian can't pivot out of Kommo-o in particular. Use Taunt to shut down bulkier Pokemon and then use Toxic to status them before pivoting out into a Pokemon that can take advantage of that. Use Z-Parting Shot when a teammate is low on HP and they need to be fully healed. In some instances, however, it may be better to use the Darkinium Z on Foul Play, which activates a 175-Base Power Black Hole Eclipse that can take out weakened threats. Finally, utilize Alolan Persian's Psychic immunity and Ghost and Dark resistances to switch into Pokemon like Bruxish, Doublade, and Honchkrow to freely pivot out.

Team Options
========

In general, all Pokemon appreciate Z-Parting Shot's healing factor, but some notable Pokemon include Registeel, Kommo-o, and Doublade, all of which are worn down easily and lack reliable recovery. Setup sweepers like Comfey, Kommo-o, and Pangoro can take advantage of Alolan Persian's Parting Shot lowering the offensive stats of the foe to give them free setup opportunities. Entry hazard removal from Mantine, Donphan, or Gligar is useful because Alolan Persian will be constantly switching in and out and has no recovery, which means it can get worn down very fast. Poison- and Steel-types like Dragalge and Doublade can KO Fairy-types like Comfey and Florges that trouble Alolan Persian. On the other hand, Fairy-types like Florges can take care of Kommo-o, Alolan Persian's best counter, along with other Fighting-types. Comfey is especially notable because of its priority Draining Kiss, which allows it to revenge kill Kommo-o and other Fighting-types such as Heracross. Flying-types like Swellow and Honchkrow can deal with the Bug- and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Golisopod and Heracross that can deal massive damage to Alolan Persian. Special walls like Mantine and Florges can sponge special attacks, which is useful because of Alolan Persian's low Special Defense stat. Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Gardevoir, Choice Band Heracross, and Swords Dance Pangoro enjoy getting free opportunities to switch into Pokemon they check, against which they can then fire off their powerful attacks.

Other Options
=============

Rain Dance can be used to set up rain for teammates like Kingdra, which works well in tandem with Parting Shot. U-turn is an alternative to Toxic that allows Alolan Persian to safely pivot out of Kommo-o and Milotic, which can either block or take advantage of Parting Shot, respectively. It also deals minor chip damage. Hypnosis puts the foe to sleep, which can be helpful in clutch situations. Alolan Persian can then pivot out with Parting Shot, allowing a teammate to KO them or set up freely.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Kommo-o**: Alolan Persian's Parting Shot fails against Kommo-o because of Soundproof, making it unable to pivot out or lower its stats. Kommo-o can also easily blast through Alolan Persian with its Choice Specs-boosted attacks, especially with Alolan Persian's low Special Defense stat. Foul Play does not do much damage because Kommo-o is specially oriented; Toxic is Alolan Persian's only way of inflicting meaningful damage to it.

**Milotic**: Milotic has the ability Competitive, which takes advantage of Parting Shot by essentially giving Milotic a Special Attack boost. While Alolan Persian can still pivot out, Milotic can then deal a lot of damage to the switch-in and potentially even burn it with Scald. Milotic is also very bulky, making it hard to take down.

**Fairy-types**: Most Fairy-types in the tier are special attackers and have the type advantage over Alolan Persian, making its Fur Coat useless. Powerful Fairy-types like Florges, Diancie, and Choice Specs Gardevoir can easily deal massive damage to Alolan Persian, and Comfey is notable because its priority Draining Kiss hits before Alolan Persian can Parting Shot, bypassing its great Speed tier.

**Special Attackers**: Due to Alolan Persian's low Special Defense stat, powerful special attackers like Choice Specs Swellow and Jolteon are able to deal large damage to it. Some of these Pokemon, such as the aforementioned Swellow and Jolteon, can also outspeed it, allowing them to get off damage before Parting Shot is used.

**Fighting-types**: Alolan Persian's weakness to Fighting can be exploited by some powerful Fighting-types such as Heracross, Emboar, and the aforementioned Kommo-o, all of which can hit hard even through Fur Coat.

**Bug-types**: Similarly to Fighting-types, Bug-types naturally have a type advantage over Alolan Persian and can hit it extremely hard. Specially oriented ones like Yanmega and Galvantula are the most troubling, as they hit Alolan Persian on its weaker Special Defense. Even physical Bug-types such as Escavalier, Golisopod, and Araquanid can hit extremely hard, and Golisopod can even hit Alolan Persian with a priority First Impression before Parting Shot is used.

remove fake out from other options since it does almost nothing

you can put u-turn and hypnosis in other options as alternatives to toxic; since parting shot can be blocked by soundproof mons or backfire vs competitive milo, u-turn can sometimes be better, and hypnosis can be super clutch with parting shot support if it manages to land

maybe mention rain dance in other options too, since it's a pretty fast rain setter with parting shot

done, ready for 2nd

wait, is there a difference?
If a Pokemon does not have any move that makes use of its Attack stat, going Timid and 0 Atk IVs is always recommended for a number of factors, such as reducing self-confusion damage, lowering the opponent's Foul Play damage, and reducing the opponent's Strength Sap recovery.

yea true, ill change it then

Comfey isnt the best example to have as a fairy type in overview, replace with gardevoir

Galv and yanmega under bugs
