NU Aromatisse

[OVERVIEW]

Aromatisse's good defenses and great defensive typing allow it to check big threats such as Sneasel and Hitmonlee. Aromatisse's ability Aroma Veil gives it an immunity to Taunt and Encore, which makes it a particularly effective and reliable cleric that fits comfortably on defensive teams and faces little competition in its role, since it's able to consistently pass Wishes and heal status with Heal Bell without disruption. However, Aromatisse has some nasty weaknesses to Poison- and Steel-type attacks, which makes it vulnerable to common Pokemon such as Drapion, Toxicroak, and Steelix. Aromatisse's weaknesses and only decent bulk also prevent it from walling Pokemon such as Absol, Emboar, and Machamp, which are commonly used to break defensive teams. Aromatisse is also setup bait for Pokemon such as Mismagius, Delphox, and Houndoom due to its rather lacking damage output.

Moves
========

Moonblast allows Aromatisse to combat the Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon that it walls, such as Hitmonlee and Sneasel. It also does decent damage to most offensive Pokemon it hits neutrally, and has a good chance to punish any special attacker that tries to switch in with a stat drop. Wish is a consistent form of recovery that Aromatisse can also use to heal teammates, working well in tandem with Aromatisse's high HP stat. Protect lets Aromatisse use Wish consistently for healing itself, allows Aromatisse to scout for Choice item users and possible coverage options, mitigates Z-Moves from Pokemon such as Mismagius and Virizion, and is also useful for additional Leftovers recovery. Heal Bell provides good team support, removing any status Aromatisse or a teammate might acquire.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense EVs in conjunction with a Bold nature allow Aromatisse to best check Hitmonlee and Sneasel, and are necessary for giving Aromatisse enough bulk to comfortably take physical hits. Leftovers provides passive recovery, turning potential 2HKOs into 3HKOs in conjunction with Protect, with one example being Life Orb Sigilyph's Psychic after Stealth Rock. Aroma Veil is Aromatisse's best ability and is very useful for preventing Taunt from Pokemon such as Drapion, Houndoom, and Mismagius.

Usage Tips
========

Switch Aromatisse directly into Pokemon that it walls, such as Sneasel and Spiritomb, and either start chipping away with Moonblast or use Wish to heal if Aromatisse has taken too much damage. Try to keep Aromatisse as healthy as possible because if it gets weakened enough, it will be in range of a possible 2HKO from a move such as Hitmonlee's High Jump Kick or Sneasel's Icicle Crash. A lot of the time, Wish is the best move to go for against Pokemon Aromatisse walls, as it scouts for coverage options or opposing switch-ins and can heal common teammates such as Steelix and Seismitoad. You should use Heal Bell pretty sparingly, as Aromatisse can easily exhaust its PP over the course of a match fairly easily. In particular, it shouldn't be used against Toxic users such as Seismitoad.

Team Options
========

Quagsire and Pyukumuku can both deal with setup sweepers such as Braviary, Toxicroak, and Samurott that use Aromatisse as setup fodder. Seismitoad is a very good teammate to Aromatisse, as it is able to check Poison- and Steel-types such as Steelix, Toxicroak, and Drapion. It also appreciates Wish support due to its lack of reliable recovery. Aromatisse appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon like Golbat and Hitmonlee so it isn't worn down as fast. Steelix is another good teammate, as it handles Garbodor and Drapion quite well and also loves Wish support. Piloswine is a good teammate, as it's able to deal with most Steel- and Poison-types, such as Drapion, Garbodor, and Steelix, relatively well. Aromatisse also needs Pokemon that deal with Houndoom, so Pokemon such as Emboar and Assault Vest Incineroar also make for good teammates, as Houndoom turns Aromatisse into complete setup fodder and easily OHKOes it at +2.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensive Trick Room set utilizing Aromatisse's decent power and good coverage options like Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, and Psychic can be used on Trick Room teams, as Aromatisse can get it up pretty reliably thanks to its bulk and typing. A set consisting of Calm Mind / Moonblast / Rest / Sleep Talk is an option to become a slow and bulky booster, but it faces competition from other, better Calm Mind users, such as Delphox, which sports a higher Speed tier and superior power and coverage. Normalium Z is an option for a one-time recovery move in tandem with Heal Bell and can also be used with Wish to boost Aromatisse's Special Defense by a stage, but Leftovers is usually preferred because the passive recovery is often more useful. However, it does make Aromatisse a better Knock Off switch-in to the likes of Absol and Scrafty, and it makes Aromatisse a good response to Trick on dedicated stall teams.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Poison-types**: Toxicroak has a favorable chance to OHKO Aromatisse with an unboosted Gunk Shot, and it can use Swords Dance relatively freely. Drapion is a similar case, not taking too much damage from Moonblast and having a good chance to OHKO Aromatisse at +2. Golbat can use Defog on Aromatisse to remove entry hazards, and Qwilfish and Garbodor use Aromatisse as setup fodder by setting Spikes and Toxic Spikes.

**Steel-types**: Steelix can check Aromatisse well, not taking much damage from Moonblast and having a good chance to 2HKO Aromatisse with Heavy Slam even when uninvested. Ferroseed can freely set up Spikes against Aromatisse, as Moonblast does pathetic damage back.

**Strong Attackers**: Choice Band Emboar is capable of doing massive damage to Aromatisse with Flare Blitz, and Flame Orb Machamp can 2HKO with Guts-boosted Facade. Meloetta is another example, capable of easily 2HKOing Aromatisse with Choice Specs-boosted Hyper Voice or using it as setup fodder with Calm Mind. Choice Specs Delphox is capable of doing massive damage to Aromatisse with a strong Fire Blast.

**Setup Sweepers**: Houndoom doesn't take too much damage from Moonblast and is capable of easily OHKOing Aromatisse at +2 with Fire Blast. Lilligant uses Aromatisse as setup fodder with Quiver Dance and can get back lost health with Giga Drain. Mismagius can use Nasty Plot and defeat Aromatisse with +2 Never-Ending Nightmare. Delphox takes practically nothing from Moonblast and is capable of doing massive damage to Aromatisse with +1 Fire Blast.

Mention its Taunt immunity in the overview because it makes it a very reliable Wish Passer/Cleric. Mention stuff like Garbodor and Vileplume in the overview too for Pokemon that it's threatened by. Team options is a little sparse. It should include Steelix since it handles the likes of Garbodor and Drapion and loves getting wish/cleric support. Make sure to mention that Seismitoad also likes wish support as well. Stuff that handles Houndoom through either revenge killing or Defensively also work as good teammates. Things like Incineroar and Emboar are some good examples. Mention Delphox in checks and counters because it can use Aromatisse as setup fodder and Choiced sets do massive amounts of damage with Fire Blast.

Qwilfish isnt really a common metagame threat so I wouldnt mention it in the overview and mention Garbodor instead
Piloswine is a cool partner imo as it can handle most steels and poison types pretty well

RestTalk CM set is worthy to be in Other Options so should be added, you probably should run Heal Bell over Aromatherapy so you able to run Normalium Z Heal Bell (I know you could just run Grassium Z, but Z-Wish can be useful in some match ups) which makes you better Dark type / Knock Off check for Stall. Add as other item Normalium Z.

hey P2X7 , you seem to have a decent grasp of grammar rules and smogon-specific rules as well! i just wanna highlight a few things:
- OHKOes = verb (machamp ohkoes greninja), OHKOs = noun (156 special defense evs turns potential OHKOs into 2HKOs)
- this one is a lot more complicated. non-essential information can have commas around it -- for example (solgaleo's ability, full metal body, allows it to) here, you can remove "full metal body" and you would still know that the ability is fmb because it's solgaleo's only ability. however, when saying aromatisse's ability, aroma veil, you can't remove aroma veil and still know because it also has healer as an ability, you catch my drift? i mean, i didn't know about this until recently as well. im actually not sure if that's how it works considering im still relatively new to the gp team, but i like to think i know my stuff ;p

hope to see you amchecking more in the future and good luck!
edit: bb code sucks :(
