Introduction
Hey guys, it's time for another RU RMT from me, but this one is a little different. While I won't be providing a joke team of any kind, I will be doing something a little special at the end of it. For those who don't know, it's been 2 years since I started in RU back in early BW2. I've met a lot of people along the way, become friends with quite a few, and had a lot of experience, both good and bad. While I could discuss this now, I know I will a bit later on, so for now, I'll just share this team that I made which centers around Clawitzer and Meloetta that has worked really well for me since the Shuckle ban a couple of weeks ago.
Team Preview

In-Depth
Great Wall (Registeel) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
Registeel is one of the best walls in RU currently. This team uses it to check what basically amounts to half the entire tier. Registeel is the go-to switch-in for many of the top special attackers, including the broken af Tinted Lens Choice Specs Yanmega. Outside of that, Registeel is able to support the team in various ways. Stealth Rock is pretty dang obvious. It's only the most important move in the game and extremely useful to keep powerhouses like Moltres, Yanmega, and Delphox from running rampant. Seismic Toss is a pretty safe move. Reliable damage, chips away at walls, and wears down offensive responses. Thunder Wave is chosen over Toxic as this team is rather slow outside of Meloetta and Virizion. The paralysis support really helps to amplify Clawitzer's ability to break down virtually any defensive core in the tier with a little luck and prediction. Finally, Protect is a good scout move to determine otherwise dangerous moves and figure out what move possible Choiced Pokemon are wanting to use. Also, free Leftovers recovery. EVs simply maximize Registeel's defensive capabilities while Calm is used to minimize Foul Play and chance confusion damage.

Donk (Clawitzer) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
Clawitzer is what I decided to start with on this team. Honestly, I feel it's one of the most underrated threats in RU atm thanks to its powerful coverage and incredible Special Attack stat. It's a shame Clawitzer doesn't get Hydro Pump, but Scald is still strong enough to get the job done on most occasions. Water Pulse might have 10 extra BP, but Scald has the much better side effect and still gets the same KOs. Aura Sphere is almost exclusively for Registeel, but when my Scarf / cleaner mon can't do jack shit to it, that's worthy of a slot. It's also nice for Mega-Abomasnow Dark Pulse is super cool for Clawitzer, making it one of the only special attackers in the tier capable of 2HKOing Assault Vest Slowking with a non-STAB move. Also, it crushes the likes of Doublade, Cofagirgus, and Mega Bannette should it not be Mega Evolved yet. Ice Bean finishes the set to trash bulky Grass-types and Druddigon, giving Clawitzer the ability to single-handedly destroy Regenerator cores if it predicts correctly a time or two. EVs simply maximize damage output and Speed. I use Modest over Timid as there is nothing Clawitzer outspeeds with Timid that it can't with Modest, and the extra power boost is nice. If you haven't tried Clawitzer, do so. It's really damn good.
Pirouette (Meloetta) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Shadow Ball
Ah, Meloetta. Tbh, Meloetta was just something I slapped onto the team because I felt the team was too slow. However, Meloetta has turned out to be a fairly important Pokemon for the team, being a revenge killer and my primary cleaning option late-game in most games. Hyper Voice makes Meloetta unique; it's the only common Scarfer that can revenge kill opposing Pokemon that have a Subsittue up. So, bye-bye Gallade and Braviary! Psychic is chosen over Psyshock as this team has a fair few issues with Cobalion and it generally has more power. Plus, Meloetta is meant to revenge kill and clean up late-game, not sweep or wallbreak. U-turn is ever-so-useful for a Scarf user that's vulnerable to Pursuit and it allows me to get Clawitzer in rather easily since it takes a dump on most of the Pokemon Meloetta draws in. Shadow Ball nails Doublade, Delphox, Mismagius, and a few others in tight situations, but it's honestly something I rarely use. EVs are typical for a special attacking Scarf user and Timid keeps Meloetta ahead of most other Scarf users in the tier.
JusticeV (Virizion) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
I feel like Virizion is one of my trademarks in XY. Ever since the start of XY RU, Virizion's been a solid Pokemon. It really gained traction when Tornadus was banned late Beta stage. This is the basic Swords Dance set that lets Virizion take on many defensive cores single-handedly and sweep reliably once faster Pokemon and Doublade / bulky Psychics are removed. Swords Dance doubles Attack to allow Virizion to sweep. Leaf Blade and Close Combat are obvious choices to take on a fair few defensive cores while also being solid moves in general. Stone Edge crushes Flying-types and does something with the Poison-types that resist Virizion's STAB combination. I chose Stone Edge over Zen Headbutt due to the fact this team is slightly weak to Moltres and anything that can OHKO Yanmega is really good rn. EVs are simple and Lum Berry allows Virizion to switch into Scald, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, etc. with no worries.
Fairy Wall (Aromatisse) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aromatherapy
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
Aromatisse is another Pokemon I've used a fair bit since the start of XY RU. Much like Virizion, Aromatisse has been a great Pokemon in the tier since the start. For this team, Aromatisse is responsible for keeping the team healthy and making sure the likes of Zoroark, Hitmonlee, and Sharpedo don't run all over the team at will. Aromatherapy provides cleric support, which is super cool as most of the Pokemon on this team are pretty vulnerable to status ailments, especially Toxic and burn. WishTect is obligatory recovery and Protect in general is nice to scout for unexpected moves. Moonblast isn't mind-boggling strong, but it beats what it needs to beat. As this team has a solid backbone vs. most special attackers, I went the physically defensive route with Aromatisse while not neglecting her natural special bulk.
BROKEN (Druddigon) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Atk / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot
So, what do you do when your team has a clear weakness to Fire-types? Slap Assault Vest Druddigon or Slowking on the team, of course! Since this team already had Clawitzer, Druddigon was the obvious choice. AV Druddigon does so much for this team. It checks Grass-, Fire-, Electric-, and Water-type threats with relative ease while still dishing out solid damage to soften opponents up for Meloetta or Virizion. Dragon Claw is the chosen STAB move on this set as being locked in with Outrage is counter-productive. Fire Punch nails Steel-types expecting Druddigon to be Choice Band after seeing no LO recoil or Leftovers recovery. Sucker Punch is nice priority to make up for Druddigon's low Speed, and it's really nice to pick off the likes of Delphox and Yanmega should Druddigon be in their KO range late-game. Gunk Shot is the final move and it deals some serious damage to Aromatisse and Tangrowth. The EVs maximize overall bulk and Attack while allowing Druddigon to outspeed opposing Tangrowth to get the 2HKO with Gunk Shot before it can respond with Sleep Powder (assuming I hit it on the switch of course)
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

Shout-outs
Throughout the two years I've been a part of the RarelyUsed community here on Smogon, I've had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with a lot of great people. I'll apologize in advance if I miss you, but I just wanted to drop a quick word or two for some of the people I feel have really helped me come all this way:
Thanks to:
Molk - for always believing in me and being a mind I could lean on whenever I was struggling with something. Cool guy, great friend
SilentVerse - for being my opponent in first ever true RU battle 2 years ago and having a similar thought process as myself. I lost, but you showed me then how good I could be if I kept working at it. And I'll catch up to you eventually. Bugs OP man.
Oglemi - for always giving me a challenge and helping me achieve it on my own. Pro butt user imo
DittoCrow - for being perhaps the smartest RU player I've ever met. Your knowledge was second-to-none in BW, and it's still pretty damn good now even though you don't play as much as you used to
atomicllamas - for always finding a way to give me a laugh, especially with drunken QC checks. You should do drunk laddering more often dude.
Hot N Cold - for being the best Spanish guy around as well as arguably the best tournament player I know. Zoroark > you
-Tsunami- - for being the luckiest player I have ever seen. Like seriously, if I had half of your luck, I would be so much better ;-;
Arikado - for being one of the most helpful non-QC members for XY RU C&C. Keep doing what you do because it makes my life so much easier lmao. (tho seriously, you're awesome)
Texas Cloverleaf - for always telling it like you see it. I know we don't talk much, but I can always count on you to be honest with how you feel about something. Much respect yo.
august - for giving me nightmares about stall in BW.... as if I needed any more nightmares about stall in the first place ;-;
TRC - for being an overall cool guy to talk to. Glad I was able to help you out in your early RU days. Now you're just fine on your own!
Spirit - for always making a point and backing it up. I may not always agree with your opinions, but I'll always respect them because of your knowledge.
New Breed - for being a based af aussie. that is all

thanks to:
Soulgazer - for being the first B101 tutee I had that ended up being really successful. Only wish you stuck around in RU, but it seems your heart and passion are with NU, so I can't really fault you for that.
Sapphire. - for always finding a way to give me a laugh without ever really trying. LOOK AT YOU! ^.^
Goddess Briyella - for all the respect you've shown me and for formally introducing me to The Smog. Oh, and for introducing me to Sapphire. in the first place.
s_aman - for being the only tutee I ever really taught XY UU too and really getting involved with C&C. Just remember I will always have an extra trick or two up my sleeve ;)
namehtmas - for being an "unofficial tutee" of mine during UUPL (where I rode the bench the entire time lmao) and now you've become a tutor yourself! I promise to play Super Metroid soon lol
Redew - for all the help you've given me when it comes to being a Mentor as well as having the trust in me to be the only one to co-host both the Workshops thus far
Minus - for letting me co-host the C&C Workshop and help you organize it
Plus - for letting me be one of the co-hosts for the B101 Workshop and letting me talk about this next guy at the end of it.
and finally, Omicron. You were the one that got me started in RU. You were everything I could have asked for in a tutor. You helped me to understand everything I needed to know and you helped me to better understand battling as a whole. I know I wouldn't be this far without your help back then. You're not around much anymore, but I just want to let you know that I appreciate everything you did for me back then and I'll always try to be the best I can be for everyone, but especially for you because I feel that's the best way I can show my appreciation for what you did for me when I first started.
