While you are reading this, you can listen to some BasedGod music. Some people might not like the lyrics, but, I mean, its BasedGod.

I know what y’all are thinking: Why would I use Gogoat? Well, I’m getting bored of spamming serperior, and since I love grass types, I wanted to spice things up. Besides, Gogoat isn’t bad, it walls Serperior (lol HP Fire), Rotom-W, and Celebi. It’s defense and sp defense aren’t as good compared to Celebi, but it’s HP stat is much higher and it has access to Bulk Up and good recovery. (Bulk Up is the only good set). But in order to be able to win with the Goat, I have to beat its checks (and it has a lot) before I start to set up. (TBH -Snow inspired me to keep building around Gogoat when I saw his team, so thanks!)

Teambuilding Process:

I think I'm Based God
Of course, I was building around the goat. Since it has poor offense before setting up, I needed mons that could weaken its checks and counters.

The biggest checks to Big G are bird types, particularly Talonflame. It also hates status. That’s why I picked Mega Diancie.

Steel types like Scizor also bother him so I chose Victini as a secondary wall breaker. It is also a lure for Lando-T since it mostly walls goat. Also, poison types like Mega Venusaur can beat Gogoat and Mega Diancie, so Victini’s V-Bomb helps a lot in that regard.

At first, I had ScarfChomp, but I realized I needed a better check to physical attackers like Talonflame and Bisharp. So I changed it to scarf LandoT. It also provides a much needed ground immunity and counter to Heatran which completely walls Goat.

Lastly, I needed a check to ice types like Kyurem-B and Weavile (which can also pursuit trap Victini), so I chose Scizor. It also provides much needed priority.

The Team:

leftovers.png
:
Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP / 100 SpDef+ / 156 Sp
Moves: Horn Leech / Facade / Milk Drink / Bulk Up

BasedGoat has Max HP to make use of its amazing HP stat, and some more investment in SpDef to deal with special attackers that can hurt him even after he’s set up. At first I just had enough speed to outspeed defensive Heatran and Earthquake. But I started losing to the one thing it was supposed to wall: The Washing Machine. Clicking Will-O-Wisp is like smoking for people, they can’t stop doing it. So I thought of a solution, Façade. I also have 156 speed evs to out speed Rotom-W so I can fire off a Façade before he Volt Switches out. I only need two boosts to be able to two hit KO him. Another significant calc is at +3 atk and burned it OHKO’s Latios 100% of the time. By the time I’ve sent him out I’ve hopefully cleared most of his checks already so he won’t have too much trouble Milk Drinking off the burn damage. I’ve only been using this team/Gogoat for a bit over a month now, so if theres any Goat experts out there who have better sets/ev spreads let me know!

diancie.png
Diancie @
diancite.png
: Diancite
Ability: Clear Body --> Magic Bounce
Nature: Naive
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpAtk / 252 Sp+
Moves: Moonblast / Diamond Storm / Earth Power / Protect

I picked Mega Diancie because it and BasedGoat cover each other’s weaknesses perfectly. Gogoat takes water, ground, and grass type attacks, and Diancie beats dragon, fire, ice, and flying types. I’m running Earth Power on it to lure Heatran for Gogoat. Although I have Façade on Gogoat, its only for burns since I can recover them off easily. He doesn’t like getting poisoned or paralyzed. Diancie is able to magically bounce them back. Mega Sableye walls Gogoat since Façade can’t hit it, so a good ol’ Moonblaster always comes in handy. Other significant things it checks for the goat: Torn-T, Talonflame, Lati twins, Heatran (ish), Mega Medicham/Gallade/Conkeldurr, Weavile, and Kyurem-B. Overall I think these two are great partners, and I built the team around this core.

:
Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Def+ / 92 SpAtk
Moves: Hydro Pump / Volt Switch / Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave

I needed a more reliable way of dealing with birds and fire types, while Diancie can beat those offensively it can’t switch in to a them. Rotom-W also helps a lot since its physically defensive. It helps deal with the physical attackers that can threaten Gogoat before it sets up. Burning some physical attackers and paralyzing Keldeo and the Lati twins helps a huge amount. I also picked Rotom-W since it works well with Mega Diancie since it provides a nice Ground immunity and a reliable switch in to steel type attacks.

victini.png
Victini @
expertbelt.png
: Expert Belt

Ability: Victory Star
Nature: Lonely
EVs: 252 Atk+ / 4 SpAtk / 252 Sp
Moves: V-Create / Bolt Strike / Zen Headbutt / Glaciate

I needed a psychic type to deal with Mega Venusaur and other poison types, and I also really needed a fire type to beat steel types that check Gogoat, like Skarmory and Scizor. So I picked Victini which completes the FWG core. I wasn’t sure which set to use, since the most common set is Choice Band I wanted to use it, but I already have to choiced mons below. So I went with the Expert Belt lure set which helps lure Landorus-T since it’s U-Turning shenanigans can annoy BasedGoat and Scizor. It doesn’t have great speed though, which is another reason why I have double status on Rotom-W. I picked Zen Headbutt over Brick Break for three reasons: I want to deal with Mega Venusaur without being super vulnerable to being revenge killed, I needed a way to hit CharX neutrally since my team is looking weak to him, and Scizor already has Superpower.

choicescarf.png
: Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk / 4Def / 252 Sp+
Moves: Earthquake / Stone Edge / U-Turn / Knock Off

I needed a check to Excadrill, and a scarfer as a revenge killer. Lando-T was the perfect choice since it provides another check to Physical Attackers and Birds. It also can start a voltturn core with Rotom-W. I did have Garchomp before, and although Rough Skin helped a lot, I felt Landorus-T was the better scarfer since it has access to U-Turn, and Intimidate helps Gogoat a lot. He also provides another Ground immunity to Diancie, which is sweet. I chose Knock Off over Superpower to get rid of Chansey's Eviolite since I have no stallbreaker. I almost ran HP Ice to lure opposing Landos and Garchomps for Gogoat and Scizor.

scizor.png
Scizor @
choiceband.png
: Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk+ / 8 SpDef
Moves: Bullet Punch / U-Turn / Superpower / Knock Off

After I added Landorus-T, I noticed I was pretty weak to ice types like Weavile, which could KO my LandoT and Gogoat, and pursuit trap Victini after a V-Create. Kyurem B could also do a lot of work, since he has the coverage to hit Diancie and Victini as well (but only if its scarf). That’s why I picked Choice Band Scizor. It works well with Landorus, poking huge holes into the opposing team for Lando to clean up. It also finishes the VoltTurn Core. I chose Knock Off over Pursuit since I didn’t have much trouble with Psychic types. I tried some other mons in the last slot, but I liked Scizor the best since he has priority, and works well type-wise with the rest of the team since his fire weakness is covered by almost all the team members.

So to anyone out there who says the BasedGoat is bad, is horribly incorrect. However, it’s not top tier, which might be why this team won’t become number 1. However, I would like to improve it as much as I can, even if it means getting rid of BasedGoat (although I’d prefer not to). I’m currently hanging around in the 1400’s-1500’s, and I’m hoping to be able to break into the 1500’s. I find that I struggle against really fast offensive teams unless I can get a few Thunder Waves going, cause the constant offensive pressure makes it hard to set up with the Goat. I’ve been doing fine against Sand and Balanced teams, but I’m not sure how I’d fare against stall since I haven’t played against it too many times.

Hello :), I very much like the idea of Gogoat and I think that it forms a nice fire water grass core you have there with manaphy and victini, both very solid base 100 stat pokemon :).

There Are just a few things that I would like to point out.

1. I think a fully physically defensive pivot is better on Rotom-W than investing those ev's into special attack. With the extra defense you can take attacks better such as Mega Gallade close combat and Mega Scizor's bug bite.

2. Your team lacks hazards . This Is why I think a defensive rocky helmet Landorus-T with stealth rock is preferred over the choice scarf set.

3. Finally, with the defensive additions you can get more offense out of Victini by giving it a choice band and giving it adamant nature. With choice banded adamant V-Create is a complete nuke and nothing wants to switch in, as a majority of the Meta is at least 2KO'ed by it.

Thats really all I have to say, I think gogoat is more unique and fun than the Serperiors and mega Venusaurs running around all over and I hope you take my tips into consideration :)
