About Battling 101:
The player has the right to fight the tutor in at most 3 battles (singles or doubles), being two 2vs2 and one 3vs3. In those battles the player can use either rentals, aka, copies of pokemon owned by registered players, or his own mons. The Tutor should respond with either rentals or pokemon of his own that match the level of the ones used by the player.

The battle will play out normally, with the tutor playing to win. During the match, the tutor should give tips on moves and what-not, but only after the player orders. Comment on why a certain strategy you/they used went right/wrong and why you/they won/lost the battle.

The Pupil isn't obligated to use all 3 battles, or to use them before or after registering. They can register their team and use the 3 battles to pratice with them. Or they can use the 3 battle solely to try on stuff. Or they can test with 2 matches, register a team and then use the last one as a final test. Or any other way that seems fit.

1) Funny Thing: if you had Gardevoir attack Volcarona A3 instead of using Heal Pulse, you would get rid of Volcarona AND Aegislash would have actually more hp. Since Heat Wave is pretty damaging.
2) Volcarona has Endure, so if you are to focus fire on it (and this works for most similar cases) then either be certain you can take it out efficiently next round or make sure your attack ends in KO. You don't have now any move that can KO an enduring Volcarona (like, say whirlpool, or sand tomb). You will need to use 2 actions to try and take it out. And I order last, so it won't be that easy.
3) Make calcs. Specially if you are using Head Smash. High-Risk/High-Reward is only adviseable if you have a clear idea of how big is the risk and the reward involved.

Total of 99.87hp of damage. Heal Pulse knocks 20 from it to a total of 79.8, rounded to 80. It is what I meant about calcing risk and reward. Aegislash is very hit and miss as it is Head Smash. You can't just go "bombs away" and hope for the best.

Finish off your opponents first. Then worry about the rest. Since you have encore with you, avoiding endure (or making it a non-issue), will only take you one action, so it is easy peasy. Either way, don't just give free turns like that. The best defense on doubles is usually offense, so you are better off applying pressure at your opponent (and you are faster thanks to TR, so that is very possible) then trying to be tricky.
