Cubone [M ] [Rage]
Nature: Adamant
Type: Ground

[Abilities]
Rock Head (Passive)
This Pokemon's hard body prevents it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash. This does not prevent recoil damage from Struggle.

Lightningrod (Passive)
These Pokemon naturally attract electricity to themselves and away from partners in double battles. When struck with an Electric-type attack, they transfer the energy into their body, using it to increase their Special Attack (and adjust the natural stage) by one (1) stage, unless the user has a type immunity to Electric-type attacks.

Battle Armor (Passive) [Hidden]
This Pokemon's thick armor prevents it from taking critical hits.

Glad you picked up on how ordering your Pokemon works in ASB :). As you can see this Elekid hits pretty hard against your Buizel there, so Captain wasn't really an ideal mon to lead with here. Leading with Rage would hit Elekid very hard with Super Effective STAB ground moves with it not being able to hit it back with his own STAB as well as keep up with Sneasel with coverage

Soak is a pretty cool idea to weaken my electric moves, but don't forget your limiting the damage Captain can use as well like Aqua Tail and Surf. One of your better options was to Damage Race vs Elekid with Water moves, yes Buizel will be taking more damage, but you can weaken the Elekid and switch in Cubone to finish the job possibly (If I choose not to counter-switch). The other one is what we call a "Chicken Dance" where you usually would Protect then use a damaging move that would hit hard, a move that would trap the Pokemon and allowing you to switch freely (Whirlpool which you don't have sadly) , or a move that would self switch you out (Baton Pass which you don't have sadly) then Protect once again. I know I subbed for Protect/Evasive moves like Protect, but Captain would of survive the round with more HP and again switch to Cubone to fight the Elekid (unless again I choose to switch to Sneasel)

TL;DR: Singles in ASB is all about match up control, If you don't see yourself in a good position, it is best to do the most damage as you possibly can and then switch out to recover later, OR to preserve your Pokemon by doing Chicken Dances and switch out.

Well okay, my idea wasn't as great as I thought it was,

I will stay in and just suffer the consequences this time.
Brick Break - Slash - Brick Break
If Elekid uses a Protective/Evasive move, then Chill and push actions back
If Elekid uses Thunderpunch then protect, non-consecutively

kRlstt3.png

Not Switching is a good idea since Elekid is a Water-Type. Nice Orders and Nice subs as well: allowing Captain to survive and possibly do a little bit more damage next round. To also help Buizel survive a little longer you could change the first sub to "If Elekid is under the effects of Protective/Evasive move, then Aqua Ring first instance Chill second instance and push actions back each instance"

The reasons why i say "under the effects of Protective/Evasion" is because the way you worded it, I could abuse it by doing Protect -> Protect -> Protect. Protect Action 2 would fail but I would be using a Protective/Evasion move you see? I don't gain anything in this instance so I won't do it, just something to keep in mind. Another way of wording it is "if Successful P/E" or add non-consecutively in it

Elekid Shock Wave -> Shock Wave -> Thunder Punch

Nice you know about combos :> Combos as you can see are a last resort option or a way to finish an enemy when you usually can't using normal moves, becareful with the latter though, using a combo results your Pokemon needing to cooldown the next action, unable to do anything. (Also it's better to say Quick Attack+Quick Attack cause some refs or even opponents can be nit picky on that)

Although the combo idea is nice, using Aqua Jet+Aqua Jet would give you 3 extra damage because STAB, or even using an Aqua Jet Different Move combo like Aqua Jet+Waterfall can give you 6 extra damage. (doing Different Move combos are Ref's discretion, it is very important to ask them first about doing one before just ordering them and hoping it is accepted if it's not accepted the move that is seen first is used that action and the move seen second in the combo is used in the following action)

It's just knowing the formula so it's alright for now :) if youre still wondering how calculating damage works you can msg me or use the ASB Reffing Calculator

If Elekid is under effect of a P/E move then use Focus Energy and push actions back
If Elekid successfully uses Cross Chop, then use Detect non-consecutively

kRlstt3.png

On your second Sub I would worry more about the move Barrier because one Ice Punch does a tiny bit more unless I crit and Barrier has a little flavor side effect to it:
Barrier said:
If the user had no Defense stage boosts when Barrier was used, they take no damage from Physical attacks for the rest of the action. Other effects of moves blocked in this way still happen.
Sometimes it is best to check all the moves our opponent has to make sure they don't have special flavor effects like that and many others (Water Gun and Razor Wind are also an example people tend to forget or not know about)

Double Kick Spam is not a bad idea :P, the better option was if Soon-to-be-named didn't flinch your Cubone, was to Focus Energy Action 1 then Double Kick Spam, since Critical hits using a move that multi hits up to 2 hits (i.e Doublle Kick) would be +2 in the damage calc per crit so +4 in the Super Effective modifer. That means Rage would be doing ~26dmg per Double Kick aka ~52dmg on Sneasel at the end of the round.

Not bad for your first battle, just small stuff here and there that you can learn from like figuring a good lead that has the most advantage against your opponent as possible as well as if you're in a bad match up it is best to be defensive: take as little damage as possible and get out ASAP. or face the consequences.

Also check every move your opponent has until you can recognize which move is a threat to your orders for example in this battle: Barrier. There are also many dangerous moves that I didn't get to use in this battle such as Dig and Agility; Dig being a D/E (Damage Evasivion) move where if I'm faster, I can dodge your attack at priority 0, and then strike it at priority -2, I can also choose to suspend my dig, digging at 0 priority and then attack the next action at 0 priority. Agiility is a P/E move, dodging anything that's not a spread move (i.e Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Dazzling Gleam), feint or -% Accuracy moves like Shock wave and Aerial Ace.

Again, other than those two You played very well for your first battle. GG! PM when you're ready to get started with battle #2
