- As is the case with all Speed Booster Paradox Pokemon, if Sticky Web is up, Iron Leaves will receive the Atk boost instead of the Speed boost
- STAB combination + Fighting coverage gives Iron Leaves a Neutral/Super Effective hit on everything currently in RU with one notable exception being other Iron Leaves
- Swords Dance gives reliable and fast setup to Iron Leaves facilitating it's ability to sweep and overall improve upon it's offensive presence
- Tera Fighting can be used to flip Iron Leaves' native weaknesses to Bug and Dark into resistances as well as providing the STAB boost to Close Combat
- Tera Fire flips Iron Leaves' native weaknesses to Dark and Fire into resistances as well as preventing it from being burned from things such as Moltres Will-o-wisp or Flame Body

general gameplay notes:
- It sweeps, booster speed at base 104 puts Iron Leaves faster than the entire unboosted metagame as well as most of the boosted (+1 and common scarfers) metagame
- This means Iron Leaves can be somewhat problematic to revenge kill, forcing players to either rely on the likes of scarfers such as Infernape, Mienshao, or Gengar, or forcing them to commit to priority such as Bisharp Sucker Punch or Slither Wing First Impression to at least force a tera
- Factoring in Tera takes away some of these offensive checks with Tera Fighting and Tera Fire taking away Iron Leaves' weaknesses to Bug/Dark and Bug/Fire respectively
- HP investment as well as a serviceable defensive line (90/88/108) mean that Iron Leaves can setup in front of most of the unboosted tier relatively easily

checks/answers:
- As with all setup sweepers you have to be wary about Ditto coming in to copy your boosts and attempt a reverse sweep; specifically in this case, since iron leaves naturally resists the its own STABs and coverage, ditto is very threatening as even though it will only speed tie with Speed Boosting Iron Leaves, it naturally will have defensive utility to sit in front of Iron Leaves and trade hits if need be. Also if Iron Leaves chooses to Tera it risks being OHKO'd outright by Ditto
- Red Card users in general and specifically Red Card Mimikyuu are hazardous for Iron Leaves to contend with as after the initial hit, Iron Leaves is forced out wasting it's Booster Speed boost
- Moltres is a common defensive check to Iron Leaves being able to threaten non-Tera'd leaves with its dual STAB as well as Will-o-wisp or Flame Body burns, however if Iron Leaves chooses to Tera Fire, both these advantages are leveraged into momentum for the Iron Leaves player, buying time for potentially even more setup or just hitting Moltres for big damage with Psyblade or Wild Charge without needing to fear retaliation in the form of a Flame Body burn
-Forretress is a more niche pick than Moltres but is an adequate check to Iron Leaves. Even at +2, a non-Tera Iron Leaves Close Combat fails to 2HKO Forretress leaving it opportunity to retaliate with moves such as Gyro Ball or Counter or even gain initiative by setting up hazards such as Stealth Rock/Spikes/Toxic Spikes
- As with all setup sweepers and booster sweepers even moreso, phazing Pokemon are very good by denying them setup opportunity as well as using up their one time Booster Energy, however, the common phazers in the tier, namely Hippowdon, Empoleon, and Milotic, are all hit for Super Effective by Iron Leaves' coverage moves making it harder for them to adequately check Iron Leaves in this manner without needing to expend Tera or suffer severe damage
- General Physical Tanks. While Iron Leaves is strong, having to sacrifice Atk for the sake of Booster Speed means that it can sometimes fall short on even +2 neutral KOs giving the opponent time to cripple it with status or damage it into range of priority. Something like failing to KO Enamorus-Therian with +2 Psyblade and needing to suffer a Moonblast or missing out on an OHKO on Rotom-Heat leaving it open to Overheat/Thunder Wave/Will-o-wisp retaliation are examples of this.

Good Teammates/Builds
- Iron Leaves is a staple for RU Hyper Offense teams as it benefits from other physical sweepers on the team chipping away at its would be answers
- Revavroom in particular is a notable partner for Iron Leaves. As a fellow physical sweeper it benefits Iron Leaves by chipping down opposing physical sponges such as Moltres or Forretress in order to facilitate a later Iron Leaves Sweep. This is also true in the reverse sense as Iron Leaves can benefit Revavroom by helping muscle through it's would be checks
- Hazard Support. As a sweeper Iron Leaves benefits from hazard support chipping down its answers over the course of the game. Spikes support from Klefki, Gastrodon, or Deoxys-Defense are all helpful

Swords Dance is Iron Leaves' setup move of choice giving it the immediate stage presence to threaten a sweep as well as compensating for the drop off in power due to the Booster Speed EV spread. Close Combat is there to hit steel types in the tier such as Bisharp or Cobalion who would otherwise wall Iron Leaves' dual STAB combination. Wild Charge can be chosen over Leaf Blade, forgoing grass STAB, in order to run a more powerful option to hit common checks such as Moltres when combined with Tera Electric. Otherwise, Iron Leaves can choose between Tera Fire and Tera Fighting depending on the needs of the team. Tera Fire allows Iron Leaves the luxury of attacking into or even setting up on the likes of Moltres or Rotom-Heat without fear of being burned by Will-o-Wisp or Flame Body, while Tera Fighting provides Iron Leaves a powerful third STAB in Close Combat as well as resistances to three important priority moves in Lycanroc-Dusk's Accelrock, Bisharp's Sucker Punch and Slither Wing's First Impression.

Speed Booster Iron Leaves best fits on Hyper Offense builds where it benefits from other physical attackers such as Revavroom or Mimikyuu wearing down the opponents' physical tanks before it comes in and attempts to sweep. Revavroom in particular deserves special mention, as it is also one of RU's more potent sweeping threats and appreciates the additional pressure Iron Leaves exerts on physical checks. Iron Leaves also appreciates hazard support from setters such as Kleavor or Forretress with the latter being able to provide momentum via its slow Volt Switch and the former acting as a pseudo-Wallbreaker for Iron Leaves. Outside of Hyper Offense builds, Speed Booster Iron Leaves is also a serviceable addition to Balance and Bulky Offense teams where its bulk and natural typing give it several key resistances to common attacking types such as Water, Fighting, and Ground, allowing it to serve as a sweeping threat and general wall breaker for the team. These teams should be wary of the fact that Booster Energy is consumed after one use. These more balanced teams need to think carefully about when to use that one-time boost. It should usually be saved for the late-game, but the right setup opportunity in the midgame or a revenge killing opportunity can also be a good use of the Booster Energy.

[Checks and Counters]

Moltres: Moltres is a massive threat to Iron Leaves. Bulk invested Moltres is capable of tanking all but Tera Electric +2 Wild Charge from Iron Leaves and is capable at threatening back with a Super Effective dual STAB combination, Flame Body burns should Iron Leaves decide to attack into it, or phazing it out with potential Roar. Some of these issues can be remedied with the proper Tera or coverage in the case of Tera Electric Wild Charge, however both solutions are predicated on burning your Tera and should be approached with appropriate caution.

Priority Moves: Iron Leaves' natural typing leaves it vulnerable vs several forms of priority within the tier. Iron Leaves is susceptible to both Bisharp's Sucker Punch as well as Slither Wing's First Impression, with both priority moves threatening massive damage if not killing Iron Leaves outright. This weakness can once again be remedied when considering Tera, for example, a Tera Fighting Iron Leaves would resist both Sucker Punch and First Impression. However, once again being forced to burn your Tera can be a big decision and should be approached with caution.

Phazing: As with all setup sweepers but, Booster Sweepers especially, phazing moves can prove to be a challenge when trying to find the right opportunity to setup. Iron Leaves is no different in this sense. If it is phazed out after activating its Booster Energy, it loses that boost for the rest of the game and essentially becomes itemless. Specifically, the interaction between Iron Leaves and Red Card Mimikyuu must be highlighted. Even after setting up, Iron Leaves is susceptible to being forced out by Red Card Mimikyuu as Mimikyuu's disguise is capable of absorbing the initial hit and subsequently phazing Iron Leaves out with the Red Card. Moreover, Mimikyuu also possesses STAB Super Effective Shadow Sneak to inflict meaningful damage onto Iron Leaves before forcing it to leave the field. Manual phazers such as Hippowdon or Empoleon are also still problems for Iron Leaves in the sense that they threaten to phaze Iron Leaves out, however, they are somewhat less imposing than Mimikyuu as Iron Leaves' natural coverage generally gives it options to hit these phazers for Super Effective damage.

Fast Ghost Choice Scarfers such as Gengar or Hisuian Zoroark are capable of outpacing and threatening Iron Leaves with STAB Super Effective Ghost attacks. Other fast scarfers such as Infernape and Mienshao, while less common, are still just as lethal to Iron Leaves threatening it with STAB Super Effective Fire attacks in the case of Infernape or Triple Axel in the case of Mienshao. Both the aforementioned Pokemon also have access to U-turn being able to additionally threaten Iron Leaves with a 4x Super Effective move as well as using the opportunity to scout a potential tera and gain momentum.

With a speed boost from Quark Drive, Iron Leaves establishes itself as one of the premier late game cleaners in RU, easily capable of running through weakened teams. 96 EVs taken from Attack and invested into HP ensures that Iron Leaves receives the speed boost upon switch in, however, like all Booster Energy Pokemon, it is important to note that if Sticky Web is up, the calculation for Webs speed drop from Webs comes before the Booster Energy applies and will subsequently give Iron Leaves a boost to attack instead. Swords Dance is Iron Leaves' setup move of choice giving it the immediate stage presence to threaten a sweep as well as compensating for the drop off in power due to the Booster Speed EV spread. Close Combat is there to hit steel types in the tier such as Bisharp or Cobalion who would otherwise wall Iron Leaves' dual STAB combination. Wild Charge can be chosen over Leaf Blade, forgoing grass STAB, in order to run a more powerful option to hit common checks such as Moltres when combined with Tera Electric. Otherwise, Iron Leaves can choose between Tera Fire and Tera Fighting depending on the needs of the team. Tera Fire allows Iron Leaves the luxury of attacking into or even setting up on the likes of Moltres or Rotom-Heat without fear of being burned by Will-o-Wisp or Flame Body, while Tera Fighting provides Iron Leaves a powerful third STAB in Close Combat as well as a resistance to 3 important priority moves in Lycanroc-Dusk's Accelrock, Bisharp's Sucker Punch and Slither-Wing's First Impression.

Speed Booster Iron Leaves best fits on Hyper Offense builds where it benefits from other physical attackers such as Revavroom or Mimikyuu wearing down the opponents' physical tanks before it comes in and attempts to sweep. Revavroom in particular deserves special mention, as it is also one of RU's more potent sweeping threats and appreciates the additional pressure Iron Leaves exerts on physical checks. Iron Leaves also appreciates hazard support from setters such as Kleavor or Forretress with the latter being able to provide momentum via its slow Volt Switch and the former acting as a pseudo-Wallbreaker for Iron Leaves. Outside of Hyper Offense builds, Speed Booster Iron Leaves is also a serviceable addition to Balance and I don't think it really fits on balance but I don't know leaves so I'll let you be the judge Bulky Offense teams where its bulk and natural typing give it several key resistances to common attacking types such as Water, Fighting, and Ground, allowing it to serve as a sweeping threat and general wall breaker for the team. However, these teams need to be more wary of the the fact that Booster Energy is consumed after one use. These more balanced teams need to think carefully about when to use that one-time boost. It should usually be saved for the late-game, but the right setup opportunity in the midgame or a revenge killing opportunity can also be a good use of the Booster Energy.

[Checks and Counters]

Moltres: Moltres is a massive threat to Iron Leaves. Bulk invested Moltres is capable of tanking all but Tera Electric +2 Wild Charge from Iron Leaves and is capable at threatening back with a Super Effective dual STAB combination, Flame Body burns should Iron Leaves decide to attack into it, or phazing it out with potential Roar. Some of these issues can be remedied with the proper Tera or coverage in the case of Tera Electric Wild Charge, however both solutions are predicated on burning your Tera and should be approached with appropriate caution.

Priority Moves: Iron Leaves' natural typing leaves it vulnerable vs several forms of priority within the tier. Iron Leaves is susceptible to both Bisharp's Sucker Punch as well as Slither Wing's First Impression, with both priority moves threatening massive damage if not killing Iron Leaves outright. This weakness can once again be remedied when considering Tera, for example, a Tera Fighting Iron Leaves would resist both Sucker Punch and First Impression. However, once again being forced to burn your Tera can be a big decision and should be approached with caution.

Phazing: As with all setup sweepers but, Booster Sweepers especially, phazing moves can prove to be a challenge when trying to find the right opportunity to setup. Iron Leaves is no different in this sense. If it is phazed out after activating its Booster Energy, it loses that boost for the rest of the game and essentially becomes itemless. Specifically, the interaction between Iron Leaves and Red Card Mimikyu must be highlighted. Even after setting up, Iron Leaves is susceptible to being forced out by Red Card Mimikyu. Mimikyu's disguise is capable of absorbing the initial hit and subsequently phazing Iron Leaves out with the Red Card. Moreover, Mimikyu also possesses STAB Super Effective Shadow Sneak to inflict meaningful damage onto Iron Leaves before forcing it to leave the field. Manual phazers such as Hippowdon or Empoleon are also still problems for Iron Leaves in the sense that they threaten to phaze Iron Leaves out, however, they are somewhat less imposing than Mimikyu as Iron Leaves' natural coverage generally gives it options to hit these phazers for Super Effective damage.

Faster Scarfers: At base 104 Speed, Iron Leaves is one of the fastest options in the tier when backed by Speed Booster Quark Drive, however, there are still several strong options that can outspeed and threaten huge damage back. Fast Ghost Choice Scarfers such as Gengar or Hisuian Zoroark are capable of outpacing and threatening Iron Leaves with STAB Super Effective Ghost attacks. Other fast scarfers such as Infernape and Mienshao, while less common, are still just as lethal to Iron Leaves threatening it with STAB Super Effective Fire attacks in the case of Infernape or Triple Axel in the case of Mienshao. Both the aforementioned Pokemon also have access to U-turn being able to additionally threaten Iron Leaves with a quadra-effective 4x-super effective move as well as using the opportunity to scout for a tera and gain momentum.

Iron Leaves is one of the most potent offensive options in RU's arsenal. Grass and Psychic dual STAB provides Iron Leaves with great coverage within RU, allowing it to hit physical walls such as Hippowdon, Fezandipiti, and Slowbro for super effective damage. This strong typing is complemented by an impressive combination of Quark Drive and access to easy setup in Swords Dance, turning Iron Leaves into a versatile threat capable of breaking in the early game or cleaning in the late game. Supplementing its natural affinity for sweeping, Iron Leaves is also privy to an array of coverage moves such as Close Combat, Wild Charge, and Tera Blast Fire giving it options to hit everything in the tier for neutral or super effective damage.
