Other Bug Monotype

Galvantrousers (Galvantula) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunder
- Sticky Web
- Light Screen

This is my lead, and just like many other teams with Galvantula as their lead, this guy has Thunder Wave and Sticky Web. The Focus Sash lets him at least use Sticky Web, which will help (I will elaborate on this later). With Compound Eyes, Thunder's accuracy is over 90%, so I decide to use that as my advantage. Light Screen is for halving the damage from stuff like Overheat from annoying Chandelure and Heat-Rotom and will help my Shuckle. Sometimes he can actually get a kill with Thunder against some certain leads, but mostly not.

Shuckapris (Shuckle) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Infestation
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic

Now THIS guy can't do much damage... at all... but at least not at one time. Gyro Ball can at least take down fairies like Azumarill after Infestation and Toxic is set in. Stealth Rock is simply for the damage that people get from switching out. Shuckle's defenses are huge, but I choose to give it Special Defense EVs for adding on to Light Screen from Galvantrousers, so he can survive. After this, guy's taken out, my retaliation comes...

Leathervanny (Leavanny) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Retaliate
- Poison Jab
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance

Leathervanny is here to make sure that the opponent gets the perfect retaliation from killing Shuckapris! Leathervanny's Focus Sash makes sure that it will stay alive to hit. But, if the opponent's lead actually managed to set up Spikes, Stealth Rocks, or Toxic Spikes, the Focus Sash will be utterly useless. The other moves are just moves that it uses for different opponents and only if it manages to survive after its retaliation.

Jeansect (Genesect) @ Douse Drive
Ability: Download
EVs: 126 Atk / 126 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Techno Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Extreme Speed
- Blaze Kick

After Leathervanny is taken out, Jeansect comes in, setting up Download right away. Depending on the stat boost from download and the effectiveness of the attacks, I will use either physical attacks or special attacks. Extreme Speed is just for its great priority. Techno Blast with the Douse Drive are for sweeping annoying Rock or Fire Pokemon that think they can beat Jeansect. Blaze Kick takes out other Bug Monotypes with its high critical hit ratio. Thunderbolt can knock Gyarados out of the water very easily. Jeansect is pretty frail though, and barely survives four turns. Afterwards are my main combatants.

Shortsipede (Scolipede) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Earthquake

Scolipede makes the greatest support ever, considering that it can have speed boost and swords dance. I've added the Weakness Policy to help with boosting stats considering that there are very many people who use super effective moves to lead themselves to victory. Due to its considerable bulk, it can stand a super effective hit and immediately switches out with Baton Pass. Just in case, I've given it Earthquake instead of Substitute so it can actually attack stuff. Poison Monotypes become easy knock outs with Shortsipede. So who does Shortsipede Baton Pass to? My sweeper.

Harempants (Heracross) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Night Slash
- Smack Down

Harempants has been known to knock out the last four pokemon in a team. He has done this many times. Due to all of the support from his weaker team members, Harempants doesn't have to do much to sweep. His Assault Vest allows him to take more Special Attacks that can kill him like Overheat or Rock Slide, but that is just in case his boosted Speed and Attack aren't enough to keep him up. I usually use Close Combat for the accuracy and STAB, and I don't care about the Defense and Special Defense loss due to the fact that my Speed and Attack are usually enough to sweep a whole team. Megahorn is just for those Pokemon that it is super effective against and Night Slash is for annoying ghosts (ahem ahem, Chandelure, ahem ahem). Smack Down is just a move that I use if all others are of no use (like to fairy types). Also, due to the fact that Shortsipede is still alive, Smack Down knocks down those flying types and levitators so that if Harempants does get defeated, Shortsipede can Earthquake them out. Moxie also helps if Shortsipede didn't get to use Swords Dance that much.

So, that's my bug team which is apparently named after pants. I will accept most feedback, but I may not change some things (like my Shortsipede and Harempants duo). That's all that I have to say.

That is indeed a nice Monotype Bug team you have there but I would like to make some changes upon your team. Your team wouldn't stand any chance if it were to go against a mono fire team, that'll put a huge burn into potentially OHKOing your bug team from sweeping. I would prefer the following pokemon to take place of your current team cause they can provide the kind of support you need along with their performance capabilities. For starters, I don't know about Scolipede...rather its overall frail with weakness policy. But I never tried the set anyway so I wouldn't know how well that works.

Anyway, you should add Volcarona onto your team due to the fact it's a part fire type potentially giving you a fighting chance possibly. I would replace Leavanny with that. Leavanny is more towards a Swords Dance Sticky Web user and it doesn't get STAB from Retaliate. Also Volcarona has access to Quiver Dance along with Roost. Then, you'll be able to sweep an entire team.

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
Evs: 96 HP / 160 Spe / 252 SpA
Nature: Modest
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Fiery Dance/Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Roost

Galvantula is better off as more of an offensive lead than it is as a support. If you encountered a mono Ground, you wouldn't have no idea how to make an attempt to at least counter due to the fact you only have Thunder as your offensive move. There are a lot more physical attackers being used in Monotype than there are special attackers so Light Screen is unfortunately not very viable. With Galvantula, you want to provide yourself coverage after setting up Sticky Web. For example lets think of a scenario with Galvantula vs Gliscor after setting up Sticky Web, you can just use Hidden Power Ice to due to the fact its 4x weak against it. I would recommend these moves for Galvantula:

Galvantula @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
Evs: 252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 Def
Nature: Timid
- Thunder
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power Ice

Lets move on to Heracross, um for starters, there are superior options than Assault Vest Heracross such as using Mega Heracross or Life Orb Hera. Smack Down isn't so reliable due to no STAB and the power it has. Despite Night Slash being useful against Ghost Types like Chandelure, You can just Rock Blast it as a mega. Life Orb will give extra power than going on the defensive with AV. You want to hit hard, not slow down yourself with how much damage you can bring with Heracross.

Heracross @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
Evs: 252 Atk / 216 Spe / 40 HP
Nature: Adamant
- Rock Blast
- Pin Missile
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance

Heracross @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
Evs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

An option, you can make use of Flame Orb to activate the Guts ability after using Protect if you want to run that instead.

I like Genesect and Scolipede a lot on this team! I would only add a few more things though. On Shuckle, try replacing one of the moves with Protect, turning Shuckle into more of a stall considering his sky rocket high defenses. Use Toxic your first move out, then protect, then infestation then protect, etc. Shuckle can become an unstoppable machine this way in my opinion. On my Monotype-Fighting team I have a Heracross-Mega that might do well on this team. It obviously needs some tweaking since this is a different team style. I like your current Heracross a lot, but I think Heracross-Mega would do a lot better [and you don't have a mega on your team yet]. This is my Heracross-Mega set:

Dressed in Black (Heracross) @ Heracronite
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Def / 36 SpD / 76 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Blast
- Bullet Seed
- Pin Missile
- Close Combat

Boasts a 515 Atk once evolved. Add the STAB boost from Pin Missile/Close Combat and the opponent will wish he never battled you. If Scolipede uses Baton Pass to Heracross, after his speed is boosted a bunch and possibly Sword Dance, Heracross could end up with possibly 2x Atk and 2x Speed, making him an unstoppable sweeper. The few defense and HP EVs ensure that once Heracross is Baton Pass'd into the game, he can survive the first hit. After that, its game over for his opponent. Consider using this Heracross-Mega and Scolipede duo, I assure you it works very well.

Then Gyro Ball should be replaced by Protect and keep Stealth Rocks for hazard support for its team. Shuckle doesn't get STAB from Gyro Ball and its attack isn't very good despite being slow, rather it works better with Power Trick support.

I completely agree. Gyro Ball doesn't go well unless it's with Trick Room. Stealth Rocks works very well as a hazard your first move out and I think it'll work well on this team since this team doesn't have any entry hazards really.
