[OVERVIEW]

Cobalion is very diverse, being able to attack or support with equal efficiency given its well-rounded stats. Its dual base 90 offenses and great Speed combined with its access to Swords Dance and Calm Mind means it is perfectly equipped to sweep both physically and specially. Its Steel / Fighting typing gives it a STAB attack to deal with Fairy-types, which few other Fighting-types can boast. It also gives Cobalion a resistance to Dark-type moves, which combined with its fantastic Defense stat and ability Justified makes Cobalion an excellent Knock Off absorber. Furthermore, Cobalion is 4x resistant to Stealth Rock and immune to Toxic Spikes, which makes it easy for it to switch in multiple times throughout the match.

On the downside, base 90 / 90 offenses are average at best, so although Cobalion is capable of boosting both, it lacks significant immediate power. It is also hampered by a poor base 72 Special Defense and weaknesses to common attacking types such as Fire, Fighting, and Ground.

Moves
========

Cobalion is one of the fastest users of Stealth Rock, making it an excellent choice to set it up for offensive teams. Close Combat is a high-powered STAB move. Volt Switch helps gain momentum for your team while allowing Cobalion to rack up some damage on Pokemon weak to Electric-type attacks, such as Mega Blastoise and Crobat. Iron Head is an alternative STAB move that does not lower Cobalion's defenses and provides useful coverage against Fairies, while hitting the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and Heracross harder. Taunt can be used instead of Iron Head to shut down setup sweepers, such as like Cresselia and Reuniclus, and to prevent entry hazards from being set up on your side.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and a Jolly nature allow Cobalion to maintain its crucial Speed tier, outspeeding the likes of Mienshao and Shaymin while Speed tying with Infernape and Virizion. Maximum Attack EVs are used to back up Cobalion's average Attack. Leftovers increases Cobalion's longevity, but Shuca Berry can be used instead to better check non-Fire Blast Salamence and Earthquake Mega Aerodactyl. Shuca Berry also allows Cobalion to safely stay in on common switch-ins, such as Gligar, Swampert, and Nidoqueen, and use Taunt to prevent them from setting up their own entry hazards. An alternative spread of 248 HP / 28 Atk / 232 Spe with a Jolly nature is enough to outspeed Mienshao and builds on Cobalion's decent natural bulk, allowing it to take hits such as Hydreigon's Draco Meteor and Shaymin's Seed Flare better. It still OHKOes or 2HKOes frail offensive Pokemon such as Lucario, but Cobalion will be considerably weaker against defensive teams. For example, Cobalion now fails to 2HKO standard Florges with Iron Head when using this spread.

Usage Tips
========

This Cobalion plays as a fast support Pokemon. Aim to use it early-game in order to get entry hazards up and gain momentum for your team. With its great physical bulk and resistances, Cobalion should find plenty of opportunities to come in throughout the match. It checks a lot of common offensive Pokemon, such as Mega Aerodactyl, Lucario, Mega Beedrill, Kyurem, Mega Abomasnow, and Mega Sharpedo. Justified provides Cobalion with a free Attack boost when hit by a Dark-type move, so it is an excellent Knock Off absorber. Avoid using Close Combat unless it is absolutely necessary, as the resulting stat drops compromise Cobalion's good bulk and make it more susceptible to being revenge killed.

Team Options
========

Special sweepers, such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot, appreciate Cobalion's ability to deal with special walls, such as Blissey and Umbreon, while setting Stealth Rock to wear down their checks and counters. In general, sweepers that benefit from entry hazard support are great partners. Salamence in particular makes a great teammate, as it has excellent type synergy with Cobalion. Because Cobalion has poor Special Defense and weaknesses to common attacking types, bulky Pokemon that cover these weaknesses, such as Suicune, Mega Blastoise, and Cresselia, work well with it.

Moves
========

Close Combat and Iron Head are powerful STAB moves that offer good neutral coverage. Swords Dance makes Cobalion significantly more threatening; for example, with Life Orb and a +2 boost Cobalion can OHKO Mega Swampert with Close Combat after Stealth Rock damage. Stone Edge rounds out Cobalion's coverage perfectly, smashing Flying- and Fire-types such as Salamence, Entei, and Crobat. It also offers a neutral hit on Pokemon that resist Cobalion's STAB moves, such as Tentacruel. Substitute is an alternative over Stone Edge that allows Cobalion to avoid status and take advantage of its excellent natural bulk and physical resistances. X-Scissor is another option to hit bulky Psychic-types such as Cresselia and Slowking super effectively. Magnet Rise turns Ground-type counters such as Gligar and Nidoqueen into setup bait, and as a result any team that relies on such Pokemon to counter Cobalion will find themselves very hard-pressed to prevent a sweep if Cobalion carries the move. Stealth Rock can be run in the fourth slot if your team can't find room anywhere else and the coverage provided from Stone Edge isn't needed.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment allows Cobalion to deal as much damage and be as fast as possible. Life Orb is recommended if running three attacks, as Cobalion really appreciates the additional power boost. However, it does compromise Cobalion's decent bulk, so Lum Berry can be used instead to allow Cobalion to shrug off Scald burns and other status. Leftovers is recommended if you run Substitute to increase Cobalion's longevity. Additionally, Substitute can allow Cobalion to accumulate multiple boosts, so the lack of Life Orb should not matter in the long run.

Usage Tips
========

This set can either use its strong attacks early-game to punch holes in teams to open up a sweep for a team member or attempt a sweep itself late-game with its high Speed and good bulk. It's recommended to weaken Cobalion's checks and counters, such as Gligar and Swampert, as well as eliminate any possible revenge killers before attempting to sweep. Cobalion finds plenty of opportunities to come in and set up with its excellent bulk and resistances, particularly against Choice-locked Dark-type moves, which Cobalion can attempt to take advantage of with Justified to gain a useful Attack boost. While Cobalion may be outclassed by Lucario in terms of raw power, its higher bulk allows it to accumulate more boosts, and its much better Speed gives it more sweeping potential.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards greatly aid Cobalion in its sweep, so Stealth Rock users such as Swampert and Spikes users such as Froslass and Roserade make great partners. Cobalion is vulnerable to Fire-type moves and Scald, so bulky Pokemon that resist such moves, such as Suicune and Mega Blastoise, are solid teammates. Powerful special attackers such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot lure in the likes of Blissey and Umbreon, which Cobalion can easily set up on. As previously mentioned, it's a good idea to weaken Cobalion's counters before attempting a sweep, so powerful Choice Band users such as Heracross and Entei can be used to weaken bulky Ground-types such as Gligar, Swampert and Nidoqueen. Dark-types and Bug-types help take care of bulky Psychic-types such as Slowking and Cresselia, which are almost impossible for Cobalion to break through. Krookodile and Escavalier in particular can heavily weaken them with Pursuit to allow Cobalion to muscle past them later.

Moves
========

Calm Mind boosts Cobalion's Special Attack to high levels, enabling it to attempt a sweep after a few boosts, while simultaneously patching up Cobalion's low Special Defense to make it harder to defeat. This makes it a great tank both physically and specially, considering its excellent Defense stat. Focus Blast is a high-powered, albeit inaccurate, STAB move that deals a lot of damage after a boost. Flash Cannon is a more reliable secondary STAB move that enables Cobalion to break through Fairies and provides decent neutral coverage alongside Focus Blast. Hidden Power Ghost is the preferred option in the last slot, allowing Cobalion to beat Ghost-types that resist both of its STAB types, such as Chandelure and Jellicent. Substitute can be used instead, as it allows Cobalion to avoid status and take advantage of its excellent natural bulk and physical resistances. With a few boosts Cobalion can also set up unbreakable Substitutes against weak special attackers such as Tentacruel. Magnet Rise turns Ground-type checks such as specially defensive Gligar into setup bait, and as a result any team that relies on such Pokemon to counter Cobalion will find themselves very hard-pressed to prevent a sweep if Cobalion carries this move.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed are used so that Cobalion can deal as much damage and be as fast as possible. Life Orb is recommended if running three attacks, as Cobalion really appreciates the additional power boost. However, it does compromise Cobalion's decent bulk, so Lum Berry can be used to allow Cobalion to shrug off status. This set is not badly affected by burns, so Leftovers is generally a better option than Lum Berry. Leftovers is a given if you run Substitute, though, in order to create more Substitutes. Additionally, Substitute allows Cobalion to accumulate multiple boosts, so the lack of Life Orb should not matter in the long run.

Usage Tips
========

The surprise factor of this set plays a huge role, as teams will usually expect a physical set from Cobalion and react accordingly. This Cobalion's specially based nature allows it to break through Pokemon that would wall a physical set quite handily; for example, a +1 LO Life Orb Focus Blast OHKOes physically defensive Swampert after Stealth Rock and Spikes. As such, it can be used to eliminate certain physical walls to open up a sweep for one of its teammates. With its high Speed, it can also attempt a sweep on its own late-game. Due to Calm Mind boosting Cobalion's Special Defense, it can set up on specially attacking walls such as Alomomola, Cresselia, and Tentacruel. At +1, it can even set up unbreakable Substitutes against them. Be wary about Scald burns from bulky Water-types, though, as even though they don't affect Cobalion's damage output, they still hinder its longevity.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards greatly aid Cobalion in its sweep, so Stealth Rock users such as Swampert and Spikes users such as Froslass and Roserade make great partners. Cobalion has common weaknesses, so Pokemon that synergize well with it defensively, such as Suicune, Salamence, and Swampert, are solid teammates. Special attackers such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot lure in the likes of Florges and Umbreon, which Cobalion can easily set up on. Powerful physical attackers such as Heracross, Mega Aerodactyl, and Tyrantrum, which appreciate Cobalion's ability to lure in and eliminate or weaken their counters, are also excellent partners. Dark-types and Bug-types help take care of bulky Psychic-types such as Slowking and Cresselia, which are almost impossible for Cobalion to break through if they pack Calm Mind themselves. Krookodile and Escavalier in particular can heavily weaken them with Pursuit to enable Cobalion to muscle through them later.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Cobalion has a very diverse movepool with a wide range of options, but not all are viable. A mixed Work Up set can be used to enable Cobalion to lure in and break through specific checks, but it would usually be too weak to actually attempt a sweep. Rock Polish can be used to boost Cobalion's Speed to sky-high levels, but again its average offenses are a stumbling block in any sweeping attempt. With its access to Volt Switch, Cobalion can run a decent enough Choice Scarf set to scout and revenge kill, while also offering surprise factor. Sacred Sword is an option on the physical sets, compromising the power of Close Combat in exchange for not lowering Cobalion's defenses. It also has the added benefit of 2HKOing Curselax no matter how many Curses the latter has set up, but it's generally not recommended, as Cobalion really needs all the power it can get.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Ground-types**: Physically bulky Ground-types such as Nidoqueen and Gligar are usually hard counters to the Swords Dance set, but they will lose if Cobalion runs Magnet Rise. Also, with a Life Orb and a Calm Mind boost, Cobalion can OHKO offensive Nidoqueen and 2HKO non-specially defensive Gligar.

**Bulky Psychic-types**: The likes of Slowking, Reuniclus, and Cresselia are almost impossible to break through for Cobalion unless it runs X-Scissor on the Swords Dance set. Even then, a +2 X-Scissor only 3HKOes Cresselia. The Calm Mind set fares better, as Cobalion can break through them with Hidden Power Ghost after a few boosts, but Cobalion will always lose if they run Calm Mind themselves.

**Bulky Water-types**: Swampert, Tentacruel, Alomomola, and Suicune are all decent checks for the Swords Dance set, as they can comfortably survive any hit and threaten back with a Scald burn or a super effective Earthquake in Swampert's case. However, Alomomola is complete setup bait if Cobalion packs Substitute, as is Tentacruel for the Calm Mind set unless it packs Haze. Suicune will always win against the Calm Mind set if it runs Calm Mind itself, though.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon that naturally outspeed Cobalion, such as Mega Pidgeot and Noivern, along with common Choice Scarf users such as Mienshao, Krookodile, and Darmanitan, can easily revenge kill it.

**Ghost-types**: Certain Ghost-types such as Chandelure, Jellicent, and Doublade resist both of Cobalion's STAB types and so are hard counters to all its sets unless Cobalion runs Hidden Power Ghost on its Calm Mind set. Chandelure also loses if Cobalion carries Stone Edge. Cofagrigus can burn Cobalion, but it faces trouble against the Substitute set and outright loses to the Calm Mind set unless it packs Nasty Plot.

honestly, i feel like magnet rise could use a mention on the SD set, rather than just being in OO, as being able to actually wall stuff like gligar (unless acrobatics but no one uses that fsr) while sweeping is extremely dangerous for teams that rely on it to answer cobal, and i feel it has about as much weight as x-scissor (since i usually pair sd cobal with psychic-answers and such, but that's just me o_o).

When talking about Sacred Sword, mention that it's also got the advantage of 2HKOing Snorlax regardless of how many Curses it's set up. Doublade is also a counter to most Cobalion sets as it's able to 2HKO with Sacred Sword and not care about anything except for Life Orb HP Ghost. QC 3/3 after that!

Thanks man, implemented all that. I've changed the Chandelure mention in C&C to just Ghost-types in general, because Jellicent, Chandelure and Doublade as you said all resist both of Cobalion's STABs, while Cofrigagus can burn it. Moving into GP now :)

Just a small thing, but Chandelure is weak to Stone Edge.

**Bulky Ground-types**: Physically bulky Ground-types such as Nidoqueen, Hippowdon and Gligar are usually hard counters to the Swords Dance set, however but they will lose if Cobalion runs Magnet Rise. Also, with a Life Orb and a Calm Mind boost Cobalion can OHKO offensive Nidoqueen and 2HKO Hippowdon and Gligar unless they are specially defensive.

**Bulky Psychic-types**: The likes of Slowking, Reuniclus,(AC) and Cresselia are almost impossible to break through for Cobalion unless it runs X-Scissor on the Swords Dance set. Even then,(AC) a +2 X-Scissor only 3HKOs Cresselia. The Calm Mind set fairs better as Cobalion can break through them with Hidden Power Ghost after a few boosts, however but Cobalion will always lose if they run Calm Mind themselves.

**Bulky Waters Water-types**: The likes of Swampert, Tentacruel, Alomomola,(AC) and Suicune are all decent checks for the SD Swords Dance set as they can comfortably survive any hit and threaten back with a Scald burn (or a super-effective Earthquake in Swampert's case). However,(AC) Alomomola is complete setup bait if Cobalion packs Substitute, as is Tentacruel for the Calm Mind set unless it packs Haze. Suicune will also always win against the Calm Mind set if it runs Calm Mind itself.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon that naturally outspeed Cobalion such as Mega Pidgeot,(RC) and Noivern,(AC) and Alakazam along with common Choice Scarf users such as Mienshao, Krookodile,(AC) and Darmanitan,(AC) can easily revenge kill it.

**Ghost-types**: Certain Ghost-types such as Chandelure, Jellicent,(AC) and Doublade resists both of Cobalion's STABs and so are hard counters to all its sets unless Cobalion runs Hidden Power Ghost on its Calm Mind set. Chandelure also loses if Cobalion carries Stone Edge. Cofrigagus can burn Cobalion, but faces trouble against the Substitute set and outright loses to the Calm Mind set unless it packs Nasty Plot.

Edit: I just learned that there's a new format for analyses, I'll add that to my check if I have time.

Cobalion is very diverse, being able to attack or support with equal efficiency given its well-rounded stats. Its dual base 90 offenses and great Speed combined with its access to Swords Dance and Calm Mind mean it is perfectly equipped to sweep from both sides of the spectrum both physically and specially. Its unique Steel(Add Space) / (Add Space)Fighting typing, shared only by Lucario in the UU tier, gives it a STAB attack to deal with Fairy-(Add Hyphen)types,(AC) which few other Fighting types can (keep 'can' imo) boast of. It also gives Cobalion a resistance to Dark-type moves, and this backed up by a which combined with its fantastic Defense stat and its ability Justified makes Cobalion an excellent Knock Off absorber. Furthermore, Cobalion is 4x resistant to Stealth Rock and immune to Toxic Spikes, which makes it easy for it to switch in multiple times throughout the match to do its thing.

On the downside, base 90 / 90 offenses are average at best, and so although Cobalion is capable of boosting both,(AC) it means that it lacks significant immediate power. It is also hampered by a poor base 72 Special Defense and weaknesses to common attacking types such as Fire, Fighting and Ground. Despite these shortcomings, Cobalion remains a useful addition to any team thanks to its versatility, which is backed up by decent stats across the board.(fluff sentence)

Cobalion is one of the fastest users of Stealth Rock, making it an excellent choice to set it up for offensive teams.(The information here is more fitting for team options; you'll need to add a new sentence for Stealth Rock.)(nah not entirely because it definitely addresses why one would run SR on Cobalion, which is what you're supposed to in this section, so keep it; however, it does need an additional bit that actually explains what SR does, so add something like 'and allow its teammates to break through their foes more easily) Close Combat is a high-powered (add hyphen because compound adjective) STAB move that deals respectable damage. Volt Switch helps gain momentum for your team while providing a light hit on the likes of allowing Cobalion to rack up some damage on Pokemon weak to Electric-type attacks, such as Mega Blastoise and Crobat. Iron Head is an alternative alternate (unnecessary change because there's nothing wrong with 'alternative', and if both options are fine the author's choice always takes precedence because we want to maintain the author's voice if possible. That's definitely not to say one-word changes are taboo, but you must only make them not when you just find your version is better but when you find the author's version is not good enough) , reliable("Reliable" refers to CC's defense drops, right? It seems a tad unnecessry to me, but if you think it's too important to not mention clarify that point.) (yeah, if you're set on keeping this information, make the following bit 'that doesn't lower Cobalion's defenses and provides useful coverage etc') STAB move that provides useful coverage against Fairies and a stronger hit on the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and Heracross. Taunt can be used instead of Iron Head to shut down setup sweepers like,(AC) such as Cresselia and Reuniclus,(AC) and to prevent your opponent from setting up their own hazards entry hazards from being set up on your side.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and a Jolly nature is important as allow Cobalion to sits at a crucial speed tier, outspeeding ('allow Cobalion to maintain its crucial Speed tier, outspeeding etc' is fine too if you prefer, I reckon the crucial Speed tier thing is worth mentioning) the likes of Mienshao and Shaymin while Speed tying with Infernape and Virizion. Maximum Attack provides the highest damage output possible, and is needed EVs are used to back up Cobalion's average Attack stat. Leftovers increases Cobalion's survivability, but Shuca Berry can be used instead to better check non-Fire Blast Salamence and Earthquake Mega Aerodactyl. It Shuca Berry also allows Cobalion to safely stay in on common switch-ins,(AC) such as Gligar, Swampert,(AC) and Nidoqueen,(AC) and use Taunt them to prevent them from setting up their own entry hazards. An alternative spread of 248 HP / 28 Atk / 232 Spe with a Jolly nature is enough to outspeed Mienshao and builds on Cobalion's decent natural bulk, allowing it to take hits such as Hydreigon's Draco Meteors better and Shaymin's Seed Flare better. It still OHKOs OHKOes or 2HKOs 2HKOes frail offensive Pokemon on offensive teams such as Lucario,(AC) but it makes it Cobalion considerably weaker against defensive teams,.(Remove the comma and add a period) (make that a semicolon imo, and then naturally don't capitalise the follow f) (Capitalize)For example, Cobalion's Iron Head now fails to 2HKO standard Florges with Iron Head when using this spread.

Usage Tips
========

This Cobalion plays as a fast support Pokemon. Aim to use it early-game in order to get entry hazards up and gain momentum for your team. With its great physical bulk and resistances, Cobalion should find plenty of opportunities to come in and do its stuff throughout the match. It checks a lot of threats commonly found on offensive teams common offensive Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl, Lucario, Mega Beedrill, Kyurem, Mega Abomasnow,(AC) and Mega Sharpedo. Justified provides Cobalion with a free Attack boost when hit by a Dark-type move, so it makes is an excellent Knock Off absorber. Also try a Avoid using Close Combat unless it is absolutely necessary, as the resulting stat drops compromise Cobalion's good bulk and make it more susceptible to being revenge killed.

Team Options
========

Special sweepers,(AC) such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot,(AC) who are stopped cold by special walls such as Blissey and Umbreon appreciate Cobalion's ability to deal with them special walls, such as Blissey and Umbreon, while being able to up setting Stealth Rock to limit their ability to switch-in wear down their checks and counters. In general, sweepers that benefit from entry hazard support are great partners. Salamence in particular makes a great teammate, (AC; always put a comma before 'as' if it means 'because', no questions asked) as it has excellent type synergy with Cobalion. Because Cobalion has poor Special Defense and weaknesses to common attacking types, so bulky Pokemon that cover these weaknesses,(AC) such as Suicune, Mega Blastoise,(AC) and Cresselia,(AC) work well with it.

Close Combat and Iron Head are high-powered STAB moves that offer good (Neutral? Super effective? Both?) coverage and deal a lot of damage after a boost. Swords Dance makes Cobalion significantly more threatening,;(remove comma and add semicolon) for example,(AC) with Life Orb and a +2 boost it Cobalion can OHKOs Mega Swampert with Close Combat after Stealth Rock damage. Stone Edge rounds out Cobalion's coverage perfectly, smashing Flying- and Fire-types such as Salamence, Entei,(AC) and Crobat. It also offers a neutral hit on Pokemon that resist its Cobalion's STAB moves,(AC) such as Tentacruel. Substitute is an alternative over Stone Edge that allows Cobalion to avoid status and takes advantage of its excellent natural bulk and physical resistances. X-Scissor is another option to hit bulky Psychic-types such as Cresselia and Slowking super-(remove hyphen and add a space)effectively. Magnet Rise is an interesting move that turns Ground-type counters such as Gligar and Nidoqueen into setup bait, and as a result any team that relies on such Pokemon to counter Cobalion will find themselves very hard-pressed (add hyphen) to prevent a sweep if Cobalion carries the move. Stealth Rock can be run in the fourth slot if your team requires it can't find room anywhere else (Don't all teams require SR?) and the coverage provided from Stone Edge isn't needed.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment allows Cobalion to deal as much damage and be as fast as possible. Life Orb is recommended if running three attacks, (AC) as Cobalion really appreciates the additional power boost. However, it does compromise Cobalion's decent bulk,(AC) so Lum Berry can be used instead to allow Cobalion to shrug off Scald burns and other status. Leftovers is recommended if you run Substitute to increase its Cobalion's survivability. Additionally, the aim of Substitute is to can allow Cobalion to accumulate multiple boosts,(AC) so the lack of Life Orb should not matter in the long run.

Usage Tips
========

This set can either be used its strong attacks early-game to punch through holes in teams with its strong attacks to open up a sweep for a team member (RC; you wouldn't say 'I can walk, and talk' either, and even though this sentence uses a bit more words it's essentially no different) or late-game to attempt a sweep itself late-game with its high Speed and good bulk. It's recommended that you attempt to weaken Cobalion's common checks and counters, such as Hippowdon or (Hippowdon is OU) Swampert, as well as eliminate any possible revenge killers before attempting to sweep. Cobalion finds plenty of opportunities to come in and set up with its excellent bulk and resistances, particularly against Choiced users and-locked Dark-type moves, (AC) which Cobalion can attempt to take advantage of using with Justified to gain a useful Attack boost. While Cobalion may be outclassed by Lucario in terms of raw power, but its higher bulk allows it to accumulate more boosts and its much better Speed gives it more sweeping potential.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards greatly aid Cobalion in its sweep, so Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Spikes users entry hazard setters (actually I like OP's specifity here and the repetition of 'entry hazard' is a bit awkward... so the original is fine, as long as you change 'like Swampert' to 'such as Swampert') such as Swampert, Froslass,(AC) and Roserade make great partners. Cobalion has poor Special Defense and resistances is vulnerable to Fire-type moves and Scald, so bulky Pokemon that resist Fire-type such moves and Scald, such as Suicune and Mega Blastoise, are solid teammates. Powerful special attackers such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot lure in the likes of Blissey and Umbreon who for Cobalion can to (LL's version is fine, but OP's relative clause definitely works too; if you want to maintain the relative clause, put a comma after 'Umbreon' and change 'who' to 'which', which version you prefer is up to you) easily set up on. As previously mentioned, (AC) it's a good idea to weaken Cobalion's counters before attempting a sweep,(AC) so powerful Choice Band users like such as Heracross and Entei can be used to weaken bulky Ground-types (add hyphen) such as Gligar, Swampert and Nidoqueen. Dark-types and Bug-types help to take care of bulky Psychics like Psychic-types such as Slowking and Cresselia,(AC) who which (comma is good because it's a non-restrictive clause, it [for all intents and purposes] applies to *all* bulky Psychic-types and doesn't imply an 'as opposed to the others'; however, you should also use a genderless pronoun because it refers to Pokemon, so which should be used over who) are almost impossible for Cobalion to break through. Krookodile and Escavalier especially can heavily weaken them with Pursuit to allow Cobalion to muscle past them later.

Moves

Calm Mind boosts Cobalion's Special Attack to high levels,(AC) enabling it to attempt a sweep after a few boosts, while also simultaneously patching up Cobalion's low Special Defense to make it harder to defeat. This makes it a great tank both physically and specially,(AC) considering its excellent Defense stat. Focus Blast is a high-powered, albeit inaccurate, STAB move that deals a lot of damage after a boost. Flash Cannon is a more reliable secondary STAB move and is important for enabling that enables Cobalion to break through Fairies (RC; you shouldn't use commas to bifurcate sentences; if you do, you should add a new subject after the comma. E.g. 'I packed my bag, and left for school' is wrong, whereas 'I packed my bag and left for school' and 'I packed my bag, and I left for school' are both correct) and provides decent neutral coverage alongside Focus Blast. Hidden Power Ghost is the preferred option in the last slot, allowing Cobalion to beat Ghosts Ghost-types, such as Chandelure and Jellicent,(AC) that resist both of its STAB types, such as Chandelure and Jellicent. (the wording with examples in the middle of the category description was pretty chunky, so this is better. Alternatively, if you remove the comma after 'Ghost-types', the relative clause becomes a non-restrictive clause that modifies 'Ghost-types such as Chandelure and Jellicent', so if you remove said comma and change 'that' to 'which', that's fine too) Substitute can be used instead, (AC) as it allows Cobalion to avoid status and takes advantage of its excellent natural bulk and physical resistances. With a few boosts Cobalion can also set up unbreakable subs against weak special attackers such as Tentacruel. Magnet Rise is an interesting option that turns Ground-type checks such as specially defensive Hippowdon and Gligar into setup bait, and as a result any team that relies on such Pokemon to counter Cobalion will find themselves very hard-pressed (add hyphen) to prevent a sweep if Cobalion carries this move.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack and Speed is obvious are used so that Cobalion can deal as much damage and be as fast as possible. Life Orb is recommended if running three attacks, (AC) as Cobalion really appreciates the additional power boost. However,(AC) it does compromise Cobalion's decent bulk,(AC) so Lum Berry can be used to allow Cobalion to shrug off status. This set is not as badly affected by burns as the Swords Dance set,(AC) (no cross-set referencing) so Leftovers is perfectly viable generally a better option than Lum Berry. (with [content] changes like this, I prefer to add some disclaimer like 'if I'm inferring this properly', for the sake of being polite if nothing else, cause when it comes to content we're no different from regular users posting on the thread) Leftovers is a given if you run Substitute, (AC) though, in order to increase survivability create more Substitutes. Additionally,(AC) the aim of Substitute is to allows (bit of a lateral change imo) Cobalion to accumulate multiple boosts, which is more important here than with the Swords Dance set, so the lack of Life Orb should not matter in the long run. (again, no cross-set referencing; also undid the removal of the final part because that is a not unimportant part of the reason why Leftovers is a good option on Sub variants)

Usage Tips
========

The surprise factor of this set plays a huge role, as teams will usually react to expect a physical set from Cobalion expecting a physical set and react accordingly. Its This Cobalion's specially based (remove hyphen) nature allows it to break through Pokemon that would otherwise wall the a (again, cross-set referencing isn't allowed because there's nothing stopping QC from removing the set you're referencing at a later point, which would then require those references to be reworked/removed and that'd be unnecessarily time-consuming. In cases like this, though, simply making it indefinite is fine; I don't think there's anything wrong with acknowledging physical Cobalion sets exist :3 )physical set quite handily,;(remove comma and add semicolon) for example,(AC) a +1 LO Life Orb Focus Blast OHKOes physically defensive Hippowdon Swampert (Hippo is OU, Swampert seems like a good replacement here, but you can use whatever you want. If you do use Swampert, you may be able to remove the Stealth Rock mention-->) after rocks Stealth Rock. As such, it can be used to eliminate certain physical walls to open up a sweep for one of its teammates. With its high Speed, (AC) it can also attempt a sweep on its own late-game. Due to Calm Mind boosting Cobalion's Special Defense, it can set up on specially attacking walls such as Alomomola, Cresselia, (AC) and Tentacruel. At +1, (AC) it can even set up unbreakable subs Substitutes against them. Be wary about Scald burns from bulky Waters Water-types, (AC) though, as even though they don't affect Cobalion's damage output,(AC) they still hinder its longevity.

Team Options
========

Entry hazards greatly aid Cobalion in its sweep, so Stealth Rock users like Swampert and Spikes users entry hazard setters, such as Swampert, Froslass,(AC) and Roserade,(AC) make great partners. (similarly to before, original is fine as long as you change 'like Swampert' to 'such as Swampert'. Also, OP, don't C/P sentences please, comes off careless; I know you're saying the same thing anyway, but if you just write these bits up from scratch both times they're still really likely to end up sufficiently different) Cobalion has common weaknesses,(AC) so Pokemon that synergise synergize well with it defensively, such as Suicune, Salamence, (AC) and Swampert, are solid teammates. Special attackers such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot lure in the likes of Florges and Umbreon who for Cobalion can to easily set up on. (or, again, '... Umbreon, which ...' and keep it as it is otherwise) Powerful physical attackers such as Heracross, Mega Aerodactyl,(AC) and Tyrantrum,(AC) who which appreciate Cobalion's ability to lure in and eliminate or weaken their counters,(AC) are also excellent partners. Dark-types and Bug-types help to take care of bulky Psychics Psychic-types like such as Slowking and Cresselia,(AC) who which are almost impossible for Cobalion to break through if they pack Calm Mind themselves. Krookodile and Escavalier especially can heavily weaken them with Pursuit to enable Cobalion to muscle through them later.

Other Options

Other Options
=============

Cobalion has a very diverse movepool with a wide range of options, however but not all are viable. A mixed Work Up set can be used to enable Cobalion to lure in and break through specific checks,(AC) but it would usually be too weak to actually attempt a sweep. Rock Polish can be used to boost Cobalion's Speed to sky-high levels, however but again its average offenses are a stumbling block in any sweeping attempt. With access to Volt Switch Cobalion can run a decent enough Choice Scarf set to scout and revenge kill, while also offering a surprise factor. Sacred Sword is an option on the physical sets, compromising the power of Close Combat in exchange for not lowering Cobalion's defenses. It also has the added benefit of 2HKOing Curselax no matter how many Curses it has set up, however but it's generally not recommended, (AC) as Cobalion really needs all the power it can get.

Checks & Counters
########

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Ground-types**: Physically bulky Ground-types such as Nidoqueen, Hippowdon and Gligar are usually hard counters to the Swords Dance set, however but they will lose if Cobalion runs Magnet Rise. Also, with a Life Orb and a Calm Mind boost, (AC) Cobalion can OHKO offensive Nidoqueen and 2HKO Hippowdon and non-specially defensive Gligar unless they are specially defensive.

**Bulky Psychic-types**: The likes of Slowking, Reuniclus,(AC) and Cresselia are almost impossible to break through for Cobalion unless it runs X-Scissor on the Swords Dance set. Even then,(AC) a +2 X-Scissor only 3HKOs 3HKOes (think go -> goes) Cresselia. The Calm Mind set fairs fares better, (AC) as Cobalion can break through them with Hidden Power Ghost after a few boosts, however but Cobalion will always lose if they run Calm Mind themselves.

**Bulky Waters Water-types**: The likes of Swampert, Tentacruel, Alomomola,(AC) and Suicune are all decent checks for the SD Swords Dance set, (AC) as they can comfortably survive any hit and threaten back with a Scald burn (or a super effective (remove hyphen) Earthquake in Swampert's case).

**Ghost-types**: Certain Ghost-types such as Chandelure, Jellicent,(AC) and Doublade resists both of Cobalion's STAB types and so are hard counters to all its sets unless Cobalion runs Hidden Power Ghost on its Calm Mind set. Chandelure also loses if Cobalion carries Stone Edge. Cofrigagus Cofagrigus can burn Cobalion, but it faces trouble against the Substitute set and outright loses to the Calm Mind set unless it packs Nasty Plot.

LeoLancaster I'm not entirely comfortable stamping this (slight lack of consistency, e.g. missed a bunch of serial commas and not capitalising Speed, and seeming unfamiliarity with a few specific standards/minor grammar things, e.g. the cross-set referencing thing and the verb form being OHKOes). Don't let that discourage you though, this looked really promising and those things will generally come over time (especially since this seems to be only your second check) :) looking forward to seeing you do some more of these, and feel free to hmu if you've got any questions!

Iron Head is an alternative STAB move that does not lower Cobalion's defenses and provides useful coverage against Fairies, while providing a stronger hit against hitting the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and Heracross harder. Taunt can be used instead of Iron Head to shut down setup sweepers, such as like Cresselia and Reuniclus, and to prevent entry hazards from being set up on your side.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and a Jolly nature allow to Cobalion to maintain its crucial Speed tier, outspeeding the likes of Mienshao and Shaymin while Speed tying with Infernape and Virizion. Maximum Attack EVs are used to back up Cobalion's average Attack. Leftovers increases Cobalion's survivability longevity, but Shuca Berry can be used instead to better check non-Fire Blast Salamence and Earthquake Mega Aerodactyl. It still OHKOes or 2HKOes frail offensive Pokemon such as Lucario, but it makes Cobalion will be considerably weaker against defensive teams. For example, Cobalion's Iron Head now fails to 2HKO standard Florges with Iron Head when using this spread.

Close Combat and Iron Head are high-powered powerful STAB moves that offer good neutral coverage. It also offers a neutral hit on Pokemon that resist its Cobalion's STAB moves, such as Tentacruel.

Substitute can be used instead, as it allows Cobalion to avoid status and take advantage of its excellent natural bulk and physical resistances. With a few boosts Cobalion can also set up unbreakable subs Substitutes against weak special attackers such as Tentacruel. Magnet Rise turns Ground-type checks such as specially defensive Gligar into setup bait, and as a result any team that relies on such Pokemon to counter Cobalion will find themselves very hard-pressed to prevent a sweep if Cobalion carries this move.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Entry hazards greatly aid Cobalion in its sweep, so Stealth Rock users such as Swampert and Spikes users such as Froslass and Roserade make great partners. Cobalion has common weaknesses,(AC) so Pokemon that synergize well with it defensively, such as Suicune, Salamence, and Swampert, are solid teammates. Special attackers such as Hydreigon and Mega Pidgeot lure in the likes of Florges and Umbreon, (add comma) which Cobalion can easily set up on. Krookodile and Escavalier especially in particular can heavily weaken them with Pursuit to enable Cobalion to muscle through them later.

Other Options
=============

With its access to Volt Switch, (add comma) Cobalion can run a decent enough Choice Scarf set to scout and revenge kill, while also offering surprise factor. Sacred Sword is an option on the physical sets, compromising the power of Close Combat in exchange for not lowering Cobalion's defenses. It also has the added benefit of 2HKOing Curselax no matter how many Curses it the latter has set up, but it's generally not recommended, as Cobalion really needs all the power it can get.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: The likes of Swampert, Tentacruel, Alomomola, and Suicune are all decent checks for the Swords Dance set, as they can comfortably survive any hit and threaten back with a Scald burn or a super effective Earthquake in Swampert's case. However, (add comma) Alomomola, (remove comma) is complete setup bait if Cobalion packs Substitute, as is Tentacruel for the Calm Mind set unless it packs Haze. Suicune will also always win against the Calm Mind set if it runs Calm Mind itself, though.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon that naturally outspeed Cobalion, (add comma) such as Mega Pidgeot and Noivern, along with common Choice Scarf users such as Mienshao, Krookodile, and Darmanitan, can easily revenge kill it.
