LC Corphish

sam-testings

What a beautiful face, I have found in this place
[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to Adaptability and a decent offensive typing, Corphish is an amazing wallbreaker. Corphish has good STAB moves to take advantage of Adaptability in Crabhammer, which is very powerful, and Aqua Jet, which provides good priority. It also has access to Knock Off, which helps it wallbreak better, as it is able to get rid of Eviolites. Corphish gets boosting moves such as Swords Dance and Dragon Dance, which can help it sweep the enemy team. Overall, it has a good movepool, but does not have enough moveslots to fit all the moves that it wants. Corphish struggles with mediocre bulk and sub-par Speed, but it is usually fast enough to outspeed most walls. It also faces competition from other setup sweepers such as Scraggy, Vullaby, and Shell Smash users that have an easier time setting up and sweeping. It can sometimes struggle against common Pokemon such as Chinchou and Cottonee.

Moves
========

Crabhammer is an extremely powerful STAB attack which, thanks to Adaptability, hits insanely hard, dealing a lot of damage to even Pokemon that resist it. However, it only has 90% accuracy, which means that it can be unreliable at times. Aqua Jet is a powerful priority move that allows Corphish to pick off weakened threats and can allow it to sweep with a Swords Dance boost. Knock Off allows Corphish to remove items such as Eviolite and Choice Scarf and weaken its checks such as Foongus and Chinchou. Swords Dance boosts Corphish's Attack, making it into a massive threat that can at worst 2HKO most of the LC metagame.

Set Details
========

Adaptability is used to boost Corphish's STAB attacks, making it into a fearsome wallbreaker. The EV spread maximizes Attack and Speed, reaching 18 Attack and 13 Speed, which allows Corphish to attack as hard as possible while still being able to outspeed walls such as Munchlax and Spritzee. Eviolite is used to increase Corphish's bulk, giving it more opportunities to set up. Adamant is used to maximize Attack, allowing Corphish to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Removing enemy items such as Berry Juice and Eviolite can be very helpful for Corphish and its teammates, so try to hit opposing switch-ins with Knock Off. Try to keep Corphish alive against bulkier teams, as it can deal with those types of teams well thanks to its ability to wallbreak. Use Swords Dance to clean up when the enemy team is at low health near the end of a game, or use it near the beginning to put large holes in the enemy team to allow the rest of your team to clean up. Corphish can take advantage of the switches that it forces to set up Swords Dance.

Team Options
========

Corphish can help wallbreak for other Water-type sweepers such as Tirtouga, Omanyte, and Carvahna, which all also appreciate the Knock Off support that Corphish gives. Corphish has no way to recover health, and as such cannot recover from entry hazard damage,(AC) so a way to get rid of hazards is wanted. Staryu is a very reliable spinner that can get rid of entry hazards for Corphish. Diglett can trap and KO Chinchou and can also KO Cottonee with Sludge Bomb, two Pokemon that are able to check Corphish. Spritzee and Lickitung are two Pokemon that can reliably pass Wishes to Corphish. Corphish appreciates Sticky Web support, as it slows down the enemy team, allowing it to outspeed a number of Pokemon, such as Mienfoo and Snivy, and deal tons of damage. Grass-type checks are helpful, as many Grass-types are able to threaten Corphish. Ponyta, Vullaby, and Rufflet are all able to check Grass-types. Hazard setters such as Ferroseed and Dwebble deal residual damage to enemy Pokemon, allowing Corphish to pick up more KOs.

Aqua Jet is a powerful priority move that allows Corphish to pick off weakened threats and can allow it to sweep with a Dragon Dance boost. Knock Off allows Corphish to remove items such as Eviolite and Choice Scarf and weaken its checks, such as Foongus and Chinchou. Aerial Ace can be used to hit Grass-types such as Foongus, and Cottonee, and Croagunk, which are otherwise immune to or resist all of Corphish's attacks. However, Corphish will have to give up Aqua Jet, which means that it cannot hit Choice Scarf users that outspeed it after a Dragon Dance boost. Dragon Dance boosts both Attack and Speed, making Corphish into a scary sweeper that can clean up late-game.

Set Details
========

Adaptability is used to boost Corphish's STAB attacks, making it into a fearsome wallbreaker. The EVs maximize Attack and Speed while allowing Corphish's Defense to hit an Eviolite number. A Jolly nature is used to reach 14 Speed, which after a Dragon Dance, lets Corphish reach 21 Speed, which outspeeds the entire unboosted LC metagame. Eviolite is used to give Corphish more bulk, giving it a better chance of setting up, and allowing Corphish to take priority attacks better as well.

Usage Tips
========

Be careful when using Corphish early-game, as it can be easily worn down, making it harder to set up later in the game. Use Corphish late-game to sweep after checks such as Foongus, Cottonee, and Croagunk are weakened. Corphish can be used to weaken its own checks with Knock Off early in the game. Use Aqua Jet to pick off weakened or frail opposing Pokemon.

Team Options
========

Corphish can help weaken Water-type checks for other Water-type sweepers such as Tirtouga, Omanyte, and Carvahna. Diglett can trap and KO most of Corphish's checks such as Croagunk, Chinchou, and Cottonee with Sludge Bomb. Entry hazards help weaken the enemy team to give Corphish a better chance of sweeping; Ferroseed and Dwebble are two good options for this. Wallbreakers can help Corphish break through walls a lot better, such as Ice Punch Timburr, which can lure in and defeat Grass-types such as Cottonee and Foongus.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Waterfall can be used over Crabhammer, but Corphish will miss out on a lot of damage and some crucial KOs. Sludge Bomb is an option to surprise Cottonee, but it forces Corphish to run less Special Defense, making it harder to set up. Z-Rain Dance can be used to gain +1 Speed and deal a ton of damage with Rain-boosted Water-type moves; however, it does not have a lot of bulk without Eviolite, making it harder to set up. Hydro Vortex can be used as a gigantic nuke that deals tons of damage, pretty much ensuring an OHKO on anything that takes the hit. Supersonic Skystrike can KO Foongus and Cottonee after a bit of prior damage and after they have been lured in. Superpower can be used to beat Lileep and Ferroseed, two Pokemon that otherwise counter Corphish. Choice Band Switcheroo can be used to deal a lot of damage and to give an enemy Pokemon a useless item while receiving a more useful item in return.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-resistant Walls**: Mareanie, Ferroseed, Croagunk, Foongus, Cottonee, and Chinchou all counter Corphish. Mareanie and Ferroseed can tank a Knock Off, and they resist Water-type attacks. Croagunk resists or absorbs all of Corphish's attacks unless it is running Aerial Ace. Foongus is able to consistently switch into Corphish's attacks thanks to its ability, Regenerator. Cottonee resists both of Corphish's STAB attacks, and can also Taunt Corphish or Encore Corphish into its set up move. Chinchou resists Corphish's STAB attacks and can KO it with an Electric-type attack. Lileep can absorb Water-type attacks, but it needs to watch out for a potential Superpower.

**Fast Offensive Threats**: Due to Corphish's low Speed, it can be threatened by faster Pokemon that check it. These Pokemon include Chinchou, Magnemite, Mienfoo, Cottonee, and Snivy. However, they usually do not appreciate switching in, as they take a lot of damage, and they also have to be careful of Corphish Dragon Dancing.

I guess this is ready for one. should I add cb set? i've literally never seen one and i've never liked it either.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Adaptability does not boost STAB attacks by 50%. The STAB modifier goes from 1.5x to 2x, which is a 33% power increase. As such, just mention that it boosts the power of Corphish's STABs.
  • Mention its good movepool, but also mention that it doesn't have the moveslots to fit on all the coverage that it would want.
[SET]

good

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Mention Crabhammer's 90% accuracy, which makes it unrealiable at times
  • Mention that Knock Off cripples those switchins by removing their Eviolite, as this might be unclear to a new player.
  • Also mention that Knock Off can remove Choice Scarves, which can allow your team to outspeed it.
  • Mention that Corph uses Crabhammer to mention most of the LC metagame and that Aqua Jet also becomes incredibly powerful after a Swords Dance, allowing Corph to pick off fast, frail Pokemon easily

Set Details
========
  • Mention why Adaptibility is used. It's obvious, but still has to be here
  • Why Adamant > Jolly? Mention some calcs (+2 Aqua Jet always OHKOes Doduo, +2 Crabhammer nearly always OHKOes Rufflet, and almost always Spritzee after rocks)

Usage Tips
========
  • Mention that, since Crabhammer is Corph's most powerful move, it should be the most used. The exception is when a switchin that would not appreciate a Knock Off is predicted.

Team Options
========
  • Mention that Diglett needs to be Sludge Bomb to trap Cottonee, as that's something new players might not think of
  • Mention Sticky Web support from the likes of Surskit or Spinarak, as a Jolly version of this set can be used to outspeed the entire grounded unboosted metagame with Sticky Web and after a Swords Dance, it can relatively easily sweep a team if it outspeeds everything.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Crabhammer

move 3: Knock Off / Aerial Ace(?)
move 4: Dragon Dance

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Mention Crabhammer's chance to miss
  • Mention Knock Off removing Eviolites to cripple, and also removing Choice Scarves
  • I do think Aerial Ace should be at least mentioned, but not slashed. It fails to always 2HKO Foongus at +1 without rocks if it still has an Eviolite, and also doesn't come close to OHKOing Croagunk. Mention these calcs as reasons why it is usually inferior to Knock Off.

Set Details
========
  • Mention Adaptibility and why it used.

Usage Tips
========
  • Mention that you should be careful of Corphish being worn down if you are using it to Knock Off its checks in the early game, as it will make it much more difficult to set up later on.

Team Options
========
  • Mention that Diglett needs Sludge Bomb to trap Cottonee
  • Mention Memento support to give Corphish a very good opportuity to set up a Dragon Dance
  • Other pivots that can get Corph in for free like Magnemite and Vullaby are also useful to make sure it doesn't have to take a hit before setting up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Mention Waterfall for its perfect accuracy, but say that it misses out on a lot of crucial KOs.
  • Mention Sludge Bomb with a Naive nature as a lure for Cottonee, as it OHKOes after rocks, but it is useless outside of that and it forces Corph to drop its Special Defense, making it almost always inferior to the listed moves.

Checks and Counters
===================
  • Mention Mareanie and Ferroseed in the Water-resists section, as the former can threaten Corphish with Haze or a potential Scald burn, while the latter can OHKO with Bullet Punch with minimal prior damage.
  • Mention that if the faster threats don't OHKO Corph, they will take a lot of punishment due to Corphish power level. They also have to be careful of a Dragon Dance on the switchin.
Nice job, QC 1/3

Overview
* I'd add in your first line that alongside Adaptability, Corphish has a decent offensive typing.
* Elaborate a bit more on why it faces competition from the setup sweepers you mentioned.

SET: WALLBREAKER
Set
Looks good

Moves
* Give some examples that Crabhammer OHKOs or 2HKOs without boosts (Pokemon that take neutral damage are probably best if you can find examples, Life Orb Pawn is one). Boosted calcs would be nice as well, since they can even score KOs on some bulkier threats.

Set Details
* Give some examples of walls you say are outpaced by Corphish.

Usage Tips
* I'd add that Corphish can take advantage of the switches it forces to set up with Swords Dance.

Team Options
* Add in your other Water-types line that your examples mentioned also appreciate Knock Off support.
* Your Diglett line kinda makes it sound like Chinchou is KOed by Sludge Bomb. Change the wording a little bit.
* Pokemon that can deal with Grass-types would be worth mentioning here, since Corphish can Knock Off their items but will usually die after doing so. Ponyta, Vulpix and Rufflet are all good examples of Grass-types checks.

SET: DRAGON DANCE
Set
Looks good

Moves
* Provide calcs on Crabhammer, boosted and unboosted.
* Change your checks in your Knock Off line so that not every line in this section is super similar to those from the Wallbreaker set.

Set Details
* Give examples of the priority attacks you say Corphish can live with Eviolite.

Usage Tips
* I'd add that predicted switches can be used to either set up or remove items via Knock Off.

Team Options
* Do the same thing I suggested you do with your Water-type line in your Wallbreaker set.
* Again, add Grass-type checks

Other Options
* Mention that the only reason to run Waterfall over Crabhammer is because of its better accuracy.
* Your last four lines in this section all lack any mentioned drawbacks. Seeing as how they're all under Other Options, they should all have some sort of drawback mentioned.
* Where's Choice Scarf? It was good enough to warrant a set last gen, and still definitely has its uses this gen. Add it.

Checks and Counters
* Currently wondering whether or not Grass-types deserve a mention. They don't appreciate Knock Off, but almost always OHKO Corphish in return with super effective STAB attacks and resist Crabhammer and Aqua Jet. You should talk to other QC members about this before making a decision, just because I don't think my opinion alone should justify this change.

Good work, implement these changes and you'll have 2/3

"Aerial Ace can be used to hit Grass-types such as Foongus and Cottonee and Croagunk, who otherwise is immune or resists all of Corphish's attacks." - just mention what move you'd sacrifice to make room for AA (aqua jet on the DD set)

On team options for DD set, maybe mention wallbreakers which can help corphish - Ice Punch iron fist Timburr can lure out Cottonee and Foongus for example

A Jolly nature is used to reach 14 speed Speed, which after a Dragon Dance lets Corphish reach 21 Speed, (AC) which outspeeds outspeeding (saying "which" again here seems repetitive) the entire unboosted LC metagame. Eviolite is used to give Corphish more bulk to give it a better chance of setting up, and allows Corphish to take priority attacks better as well.

Usage Tips
========

Be careful using it Corphish in the early-game, (AH; AC) as Corphish it can be easily worn down, making it harder to set up later in the game. Use it late-game (AH) to sweep after checks such as Foongus, Cottonee, and Croagunk are weakened, such as Foongus, Cottonee, and Croagunk. Corphish can be used to weaken its own checks with Knock Off early in the game. Use Aqua Jet to pick off weakened or frail opposing Pokemon.

Team Options
========

Corphish can help weaken Water-type checks for other Water-type sweepers such as Tirtouga, Omanyte, and Carvahna. Diglett can trap and KO most of Corphish's checks such as Croagunk, Chinchou, and Cottonee with Sludge Bomb. Entry hazards help weaken the enemy team to give Corphish a better sweep chance of sweeping. Ferroseed and Dwebble are two good options for this. Wallbreakers can help Corphish break through walls a lot better, such as Ice Punch Timburr with Ice Punch which can to lure in and defeat Grass-types such as Cottonee and Foongus.

Other Options
=============

Waterfall can be used over Crabhammer, but you miss out on a lot of damage and some crucial KOs. Sludge Bomb is an option to lure in surprise Cottonee, but it forces Corphish to run less SpDef Special Defense, making it an inferior choice as it makes it harder to set up. Z-move Z-Rain Dance can be used to gain +1 Speed and deal a ton of damage with Rain-boosted (AH) Water-type moves; (SC) however, (AC) it does not have a lot of bulk without Eviolite, making it harder to set up. Z-move Crabhammer Hydro Vortex can be used as a gigantic nuke that deals tons of damage, pretty much ensuring an OHKO on anything that takes the hit. Z-move Aerial Ace Supersonic Skystrike is a lure that can KO Foongus and Cottonee after a bit of prior damage. Superpower can be used to beat Lileep and Ferroseed, two Pokemon that otherwise counter Corphish. Choice Band Switcheroo can be used to deal a lot of damage and to give an enemy Pokemon a useless item while receiving a more useful item in return.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-resistant Walls and Tanks Bulky Water-type resists (imo it sounds less awkward this way) I prefer the original**: Mareanie, Ferroseed, Croagunk, Foongus, Cottonee, and Chinchou all counter Corphish. Mareanie and Ferroseed can tank a Knock Off and resist Water-type attacks. Croagunk resists or absorbs all of Corphish's attacks unless it is running Aerial Ace. Foongus is able to consistently switch into Corphish's attacks thanks to its ability, Regenerator. Cottonee resists both of Corphish's attacks, and can also Taunt/Encore Taunt or Encore Corphish's set up move. Chinchou resists Corphish's stab STAB attacks and can KO with an Electric-type attack. Lileep can absorb Water-type attacks, but needs to watch out for a potential Superpower. doesn't appreciate losing its item. don't mention OO sets/moves/items in Checks and Counters

**Fast Offensive Threats**: Due to its low speed Speed, Corphish can be threatened by faster Pokemon that can check it. These include Chinchou, Magnemite, Mienfoo, Cottonee, and Snivy. However, (AC) they usually do not appreciate switching in, (AC) as they take a lot of damage, (AC) and they also have to be careful of Corphish Dragon Dancing using Dragon Dance.

[OVERVIEW]

Pros
Thanks to Adaptability and a decent offensive typing, Corphish is an amazing wallbreaker. Corphish has good STAB moves to take advantage of Adaptability in Crabhammer, which is very powerful, and Aqua Jet, which provides good priority. It also has access to Knock Off, which helps it wallbreak better, as it is able to get rid of Eviolites. Corphish also gets boosting moves such as Swords Dance and Dragon Dance, which can help it sweep the enemy team.

Moves
========

Crabhammer is an extremely powerful STAB attack which, thanks to Adaptability, hits insanely hard, dealing a lot of damage to even Pokemon which that resist Water-type attacks it. However, it only has 90% accuracy, which means that it can be unreliable at times. Aqua Jet is a powerful priority move that allows Corphish to pick off weakened threats,(RC) and can allow it to sweep with a Swords Dance boost. Knock Off allows you Corphish to remove items such as Eviolites Eviolite and Choice Scarves Scarf and weaken Corphish's its checks such as Foongus and Chinchou. Swords Dance boosts its Corphish's Attack, making Corphish it into a massive threat that can at worst 2HKO most of the LC metagame.

Set Details
========

Adaptability is used to boost Corphish's STAB attacks, making it into a fearsome wallbreaker. The EV spread maximizes Attack and Speed, reaching 18 Attack and 13 Speed,(AC) which allows Corphish to attack as hard as possible while still being able to outspeed walls such as Munchlax and Spritzee. Eviolite is used to increase Corphish's bulk, giving it more opportunities to set up. Adamant is used to maximize Attack, allowing Corphish to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

========

Diglett can trap and KO Chinchou,(RC) and can also KO Cottonee with Sludge Bomb, two Pokemon that are able to check Corphish. Spritzee and Lickitung are two Pokemon that can reliably pass Wishes to Corphish. Corphish appreciates Sticky Web support, as it slows down the enemy team, allowing it to outspeed a number of Pokemon (give some important examples here) and deal tons of damage. Grass-type checks are helpful, as many Grass-types are able to check threaten (repetition) Corphish. Ponyta, Vullaby, Rufflet, and Vulpix are all able to check Grass-types. Hazard setters such as Ferroseed and Dwebble deal residual damage to enemy Pokemon, allowing Corphish to pick up more KOs. Wish support is appreciated due to Corphish's lack of recovery options as mentioned before. (If it was mentioned before then there's no need to mention it here again...)

Please pay more attention when implementing GP checks. Not only did you implement half of the above check, but you didn't update the title to reflect this. Next time, implement the previous GP check FULLY. For the entirety of the second set, OO, and C&C sections, I had to copy the previous would-be changes and do them as well. Make sure this doesn't happen frequently; missing a couple of things is fine, but not an entire set plus two more sections. Thank you for your understanding.

er i never finished the gp check, was gonna do that today. if the title isnt updated then im not finished, and Im pretty sure i didnt post in the gp thread. sorry for the misunderstanding.
