if youre actually voting for kylecole when qsns/deoxys speed/shaian/n1n1 all have teams that are more than just fucking memes u should seriously be ashamed of yourself. theyre not perfect (n1n1s cube set is dumb as hell, deo speeds is rain weak, qsns's is sun weak and shaian's is kang/kingdra weak) but by god theyre at least real teams.

With a solid lead in votes, deoxys speed wins the round!

This week's Pokemon is:

Swords Dance Talonflame - We all know how good Talonflame is in DOU already; it's capable of picking off any foe with its powerful priority and can function as a decent check to anything as a situation allows it. Aside from sniping threats, it can also back its team up by providing speed control with Tailwind, neutering physical attacking threats with Will-O-Wisp, and blocking priority with Quick Guard. Another option is out there, however, which is Swords Dance; Swords Dance allows Talonfame to not just clean up foes but destroy them outright, making it a powerful threat that you can't usually outrun. Note that it needs to position well to be effective as it can't find chances to set up much!

Deadline is on Friday GMT Noon.

Super hyper offensive team. Set up a BDrum, Psych Up the BDrum, and sweep with boosted priority moves. Mew is mainly to support the set up, but it can join in the fun with Transform. Talonflame is a nice stop gap for checking many threats, and pairs nicely with Azumarill. This team is where I've tried SD on Talonflame for the first time, and it wrecks face. SD serves as another source of attack boost for Metagross if Azumarill happens to go down prematurely, but I never had to resort to this emergency plan.

This team loses to Quick Guard.

Okay so first of all, swords dance talonflame is beautiful lando bait. If you're facing two mons that talonflame wrecks and they've got a lando in the back, you can bet your ass their switching into it, which is where this comes into play:
+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Landorus-T: 333-394 (104 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
There is no more satisfactory feeling in the entire world (besides perhaps pulling off a side pup) than baiting a loser into a situation he thinks he can win.

Aright now to the actual team. I've always like the combo of metagross + talonflame because it's very threatening to a good majority of the meta and also talonflame helps with metagross's jirachi match up. Hammer arm on metagross allows it to ko slightly weakened kangs and heatrans. From there we needed a dragon / lando check which scarf kyurem fills perfectly. I went for earth power over a third physical move because the heatran matchup isnt fantastic and that helps a lot. Amoonguss was added to both help with talonflame set up in not so great situations and also to help with the trick room matchup since the team was pretty damn speedy so far. Keldeo is there to check kang / lando / tran and also for quick guard support to help the talonflame match up just a bit. Bulky thundurus was a pretty obvious last choice because I wanted something to check talonflame hard, provide speed control, and help the TR matchup. If you're really not a fan of bulky thundy the team does work with the offensive version, I just like a little more defensive play and real HO is inconsistent imo. Lastly, the currently ever present volcanion is walled by kyurem, which also has bolt strike to deal with big steamy, and is threatened greatly by thundurus.

Fun little semiroom team I made about a year back. Set-up sweeper+jachi is always great, so why not make it two set-up mons? The main idea here is that jirachi supports mega gyara/talon with follow me while rhydon gives lightning rod support. Mega gyara and talon cover a lot of weaknesses for each other, with mega gyara beating diancie/tran and talon dropping amoonguss/keldeo. Along with that, both get rid of steels/fires/amoong that work as sylveon switchins. Beyond that the team has a pretty straightforward trick room core, albeit with an uncommon setter. Hariyama supports the TR setup, while rhydon/sylveon both appreciate the trick room support. Mega gyara always gets the OHKO on 44 hp lando at neutral while living specs sylveon HV most of the time. Sylveon always lives jolly kang return. The rest of the spreads are pretty much standard, no idea what rhydon's does.

I built this team with Nido-Rus a few months ago and it's been pretty consistently solid. Built around Mega Garde + Infernape, which does really well since Infernape handles the Steel-types that trouble Garde and also has Feint to break through Wide Guard. Rotom-W takes care of Lando-T, provides Wisp to help Garde's low Def, and something to outrun and beat Mega Diancie as well. Zapdos gives TW support for Garde and beats Water-types for Infernape. Talon provides priority and a wincon of sorts with SD, also giving the team another option to take care of Lando-T since a +1 Brave Bird will OHKO it. Sub Aegis was added to help against TR and provide a Kang switchin. Sub Weakness Policy is a really cool set that bluffs Wide Guard while also getting boosts from Kang Sucker Punch, which will barely do any damage on the second hit after breaking the sub.

Spreads / sets should all be fairly straightforward, but I'll run through them real quick. Nape has enough Atk to OHKO 56 HP Tran, which was slightly more common when this was made. Garde is Max SpA with enough HP/SpD to live Aegis Shadow Ball and the rest in Spe, allowing it to outrun Hoopa-U. HP Ground because you can never have enough Heatran answers, and this spread isn't fast enough to take advantage of Encore. Washtom outruns Deo-A, max SpA, rest in HP. Zapdos is Kyle's spread, OHKO's scarf Lando-T and Keldeo, lives 2 Lando-T Rock Slides, faster than base 70s, rest in SpD. Talon is Sharp Beak > LO to better take advantage of potential boosts. Aegis has 84 Spe to outrun Thund in TW, as a +2 Shadow Ball will OHKO fast sets.
