I built this team with Nido-Rus a few months ago and it's been pretty consistently solid. Built around Mega Garde + Infernape, which does really well since Infernape handles the Steel-types that trouble Garde and also has Feint to break through Wide Guard. Rotom-W takes care of Lando-T, provides Wisp to help Garde's low Def, and something to outrun and beat Mega Diancie as well. Zapdos gives TW support for Garde and beats Water-types for Infernape. Talon provides priority and a wincon of sorts with SD, also giving the team another option to take care of Lando-T since a +1 Brave Bird will OHKO it. Sub Aegis was added to help against TR and provide a Kang switchin. Sub Weakness Policy is a really cool set that bluffs Wide Guard while also getting boosts from Kang Sucker Punch, which will barely do any damage on the second hit after breaking the sub.

Spreads / sets should all be fairly straightforward, but I'll run through them real quick. Nape has enough Atk to OHKO 56 HP Tran, which was slightly more common when this was made. Garde is Max SpA with enough HP/SpD to live Aegis Shadow Ball and the rest in Spe, allowing it to outrun Hoopa-U. HP Ground because you can never have enough Heatran answers, and this spread isn't fast enough to take advantage of Encore. Washtom outruns Deo-A, max SpA, rest in HP. Zapdos is Kyle's spread, OHKO's scarf Lando-T and Keldeo, lives 2 Lando-T Rock Slides, faster than base 70s, rest in SpD. Talon is Sharp Beak > LO to better take advantage of potential boosts. Aegis has 84 Spe to outrun Thund in TW, as a +2 Shadow Ball will OHKO fast sets.

shhh it's for Roost stalling out Stone Edges... or it was built before Static was released and I forgot to change it. Probably the first one though.

BlueSkiddoWeCanToo takes the week in a pretty dominant fashion, congrats!

This week, it's time for:

Volcanion - If you don't what this guy is, you must've been living under a rock. This guy was only released around a week ago and is only new to the metagame. It has a pretty nifty typing and access to Steam Eruption, a 110 Base Power attack that also has a 30% chance to burn. Think of it as Scald except it's much more powerful. It has high bulk and good Special Attack as well, though its Speed holds it back.

Deadline of teams is on Friday GMT Noon!

An offense team I built with help with my tutor Memoric. Basically it's built around Diancie + Volcanion. This offensive pair can beat each other's counters, plus it also beats sun and rain. Lando is a good pivot, Kang check and allows me to snipe certain threats on the field, plus it beats opposing M-Diancie and Thundy. Aegi provides a good TR fallback and acts a secondary check to common threats like Diancie, MegaGross and can play mindgames with TFlame. Latios provides Tailwind support mostly in a pinch or to help clean late-game. It also beats Amoong and Hydrei. Thundy is my last member to beat CharY and Poli, plus it can neuter Chlorophyll / Swift Swim attackers.

An atypical semi-room with Jirachi as its setter. Gard + Ferro + Vulcan is a pretty cool core as Ferro does a number against a lot of damage and wear down a lot of Vulcan's checks, such as Diancie while Gard smacks fighting and dragon types. Scrafty + Rachi is an atypical lead to get TR up while Scrafty provides intimidate support. Talon is for general speed-control while also beating Amoonguss. Volcanion spread lives spread Diancie Diamond-Storm while putting as much into SpA as possible. The team is pretty lando-weak with Volcanion being its best check (lol).

Right so I started off with Kang and Volc since it adds offensive pressure right off the bat and volc demolishes things that would otherwise wall kang like pesky steel types. Added a Lando because Lando. intimidate is always nice and opposing lando can give the two a hard time so you deter it with your own lando hehe. Added Bisharp as a soft trick room check and to deter your opponents from switching in intimidate users which may otherwise slow down kang's ease to sweep. Added Serp because i really liked the idea of serperior + bisharp. After a few leaf storms Serperior's sweeping potential is phenomenal. I also needed a way to break bulky waters with ease. Went with taunt as the filler move to serve as an additional trick room check since this team really has a hard time as soon as trick room goes up. Went with zapdos as the last mon. Electric stab helps deal with opposing volcanion which this team would have a difficult time with otherwise. Tailwind is nifty and the likes of volc and bisharp really appreciate it. Hp ice is standard and serves as a good way to deal with lando. Went with roost as filler slot since i did not really see a need for heat wave and roost can be nifty in a lot of situations (for example when the opponent double tects to stall out last turn of tailwind).

Sorry this team isn't anything super fun or out there, but it did net me a neat win in DPL week one. I wanted to start with Vulc + Kang because they are able to beat a lot of eachothers checks and both mons have pretty great bulk. I then went to scarf Lando-t because of my weakness to Diancie as well as giving the team a little bit of speed control/the ability to revenge kill a lot of threats. Thundurus is added to provide more speed control in the form of T-wave as well as partner well with Lando-T, this bulkier variant also allows it to beat opposing Lando-t 1v1 if it doesn't get double flinched by rock slide. Kyube was picked next just because of how well it can break balance, and the combo of vulc + sub Kyube really lets this team pick apart teams both in and out of Trick Room. Lastly I added Amoong because it glues the team together, gives a secondary TR check, provides sleep support and redirection while also giving checks to keldeo, Diancie and a soft Kang check.
