[OVERVIEW]
Frillish can be an effective spinblocker due to its Water / Ghost typing. It also has the added ability to counter prominent Pokemon such as Poliwrath and non-Knock Off Simipour thanks to Water Absorb. Frillish faces competition from Misdreavus, which can spinblock, Taunt, and burn foes and has better defensive and Speed stats. It also faces competition from Gourgeist-XL, which can spinblock and has solid uninvested offensive stats and reliable recovery, though it lacks Taunt. Frillish has very solid Special Defense, but suffers from a low Defense stat. Frillish is also incredibly weak to Knock Off and most physical moves, seeing as it relies mostly on its Eviolite. Unlike most walls in the tier, Frillish has reliable recovery and access to Eviolite; however, Frillish is almost useless without Eviolite, and its low base Speed can make it easy to Taunt.

Moves
========
Recover allows Frillish to heal damage it has and can help stall a foe until a field condition ends or they faint to status effects. Scald allows Frillish to get off some damage on foes and holds the potential to burn them as well. Will-O-Wisp allows Frillish to take on physical attacks a bit better and offers chip damage on the side. Toxic can be used instead to allow for more chip damage at the loss of crippling physical attackers. Night Shade allows Frillish to deal damage on Pokemon that resist Scald and deals fixed damage, somewhat alleviating Frillish's low Special Attack.
Set Details
========
Maximum Special Defense and HP with a Calm Nature allows Frillish to take s(lowercase s)pecial hits as well as it can. Eviolite adds to its solid Special Defense and weak Defense. Water Absorb gives Frillish a small niche and the ability to beat Poliwrath and Simipour, as well as not running the risk of getting burned by Scald.
Usage Tips
========
Don't switch in or keep Frillish in against most physical attackers, as they can deal massive damage to it; however, there are exceptions, such as Pokemon locked into a Fighting- or Normal-type move. If you need Frillish to consistently take on special attackers, it has to stay healthy and use Recover when it can. Frillish should only use Will-O-Wisp in situations where it expects a physical attacker to switch in or when it needs some chip damage on an opposing wall. Taunt from an opposing Pokemon can take away Frillish's ability to burn foes and reliably heal itself, crippling it severely. Use Frillish to block a Rapid Spin from an opposing Pokemon, but be wary when faced against Armaldo, which can use Knock Off on it. It should also be wary against Pokemon that may carry Toxic, such as Avalugg and Torkoal. Most of the time, switch Frillish in against a Poliwrath or Simipour to wall them, unless Poliwrath has revealed Toxic or Simipour has revealed Knock Off. Scald or Will-O-Wisp should be used early-game to cripple foes.
Team Options
========
Frillish works well with Pokemon such as Piloswine, Torterra, Ninetales, Probopass, Aurorus, and Golem, which are weak to special Water-types. Frillish appreciates Heal Bell support from Pokemon such as Togetic and Lickilicky to heal off status effects and allow it to stay on the field for longer. It works better on balance or semi-stall teams, as it doesn't offer much offensive presence and needs Pokemon to take physical moves for it. Frillish only fits on a team with entry hazard setters such as Roselia, Quilladin, Probopass, Piloswine, and Golem, as it is adept at blocking a Rapid Spin. In a similar vein, Frillish should be paired with a Defiant user such as Pawniard or Purugly to further deter the use of entry hazard removal. Frillish appreciates Pokemon to take physical hits for it such as Torkoal, Togetic, Stunfisk, and Avalugg. Mainly, it appreciates Pokemon that take Knock Off, such as Poliwrath, Machoke, and Probopass. Pokemon such as Roselia, Tangela, Zebstrika, and Pawniard have solid defensive synergy with Frillish, as they take on each other's weaknesses.

Other Options
=============
Frillish could run a physically defensive set to better take on foes such as Carracosta, Piloswine, and Golem and make its defenses more balanced. Frillish could utilize Ice Beam to take on Pokemon such as Torterra and Jumpluff better, or it can run Shadow Ball to deal more damage to Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Gourgeist. In addition, Frillish can run Hex to get more damage against an foe in combination with status effects. Taunt can be used to stop Pokemon from using status moves and attempting to set up, but Frillish is too slow to use it effectively.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical Attackers**: Pokemon such as Stoutland, Sawsbuck, Pawniard, Barbaracle, Dodrio, Mightyena, Jumpluff, and Ursaring can deal huge amounts of damage and almost guarantee a KO against Frillish. Frillish can attempt to burn them, but Stoutland can use that to its advantage with a Scrappy Facade.
**Grass-types**: Grass-type Pokemon such as Torterra, Roselia, Jumpluff, Sawsbuck, and Leafeon can deal massive damage against Frillish with their Grass-type STAB moves and take minimal damage from Scald, although they don't appreciate a burn. Roselia can set up Spikes or Toxic Spikes as well.
**Dark-types**: Pawniard, Mightyena, and Zweilous can all deal massive damage to Frillish. Pawniard and Krokorok get a special mention, as they can trap Frillish with Pursuit, but the latter doesn't appreciate getting burned.
**Electric-types**: Zebstrika, Raichu, Luxray, and Rotom-F can deal significant amounts of damage to Frillish. Rotom-F can also Trick Frillish a Choice Scarf and render it almost useless. These Pokemon can also gain momentum on Frillish by using Volt Switch if it switches out.
**Residual Damage**: Residual damage from burn, entry hazards, and, most notably, Toxic, can cause Frillish to be worn down quickly and can make it easy to revenge kill.
**Taunt Users**: Taunt users such as Dodrio and Grumpig can severely cripple Frillish by temporarily taking away its access to important status moves.
