[OVERVIEW]

Galvantula is the strongest Sticky Web user in the RU tier and is able to threaten some common entry hazard removers like Mantine and Gligar. It also sports a high Speed tier and a strong STAB combination of Thunder and Bug Buzz, allowing it to be a decent offensive threat. Its good offensive presence allows it to fit on teams that aren't fully reliant on Sticky Web as well, giving it the edge over other Sticky Web setters. However, its mediocre base 97 Special Attack means that it is reliant on Life Orb for good damage output. Furthermore, Galvantula is frail and has a mediocre defensive typing, which means it struggles to switch in safely; this frailty also makes it difficult for Galvantula to keep Sticky Web up reliably. It is also beaten by some entry hazard removers that can outlast or KO it, such as Cryogonal and Dhelmise.

Moves
========

Sticky Web is used to slow down opposing grounded Pokemon when they switch in, giving Galvantula's team a huge advantage. Thunder is a powerful STAB attack that utilizes Compound Eyes to hit a good 91% accuracy. Bug Buzz is used to hit Grass-types and other Electric-types, which resist Thunder. Hidden Power Ice primarily hits a popular Defogger in Gligar and prevents Galvantula from being setup bait for Dragon Dance Flygon.

Set Details
========

Life Orb gives Galvantula a much-needed 1.3x boost to its attacks. Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allows Galvantula to hit as hard and as fast as possible. A Timid nature lets Galvantula outspeed Flygon and other base 100 Speed Pokemon. Compound Eyes gives Galvantula an accuracy boost to Thunder, making it a more reliable 91% accuracy attack.

Usage Tips
========

In general, it is a good idea to lead with Galvantula unless the opponent has a Pokemon that can anti-lead against it, such as Nidoqueen or Rotom-H. In this case, it is better to find an opportunity later in the game to set up Sticky Web. Galvantula should attempt to set up Sticky Web as soon as possible to give the rest of its team an advantage. However, because of its poor bulk, Galvantula needs to come in on predicted switches or weak attacks.

Team Options
========

It is best to pair Galvantula with slow, hard hitters that can take advantage of Sticky Web like Nidoqueen and Honchkrow. Sticky Web allows these wallbreakers and sweepers to become more threatening, as one of their biggest flaws, their Speed, is no longer an issue. Sticky Web also helps almost every hard hitter, allowing Pokemon such as Bruxish, Salazzle, Choice Specs Gardevoir, and Choice Band Tyrantrum to run through teams. Even faster Pokemon such as Zoroark appreciate Sticky Web slowing down potential revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Heracross. Zoroark's Illusion ability can also be used to disguise Zoroark as Galvantula to bait in Magic Bounce users such as Espeon and eliminate them, making it easier to set up Sticky Web later on. Because Flying-types and Levitate users are immune to Sticky Web, Pokemon like Doublade, Aerodactyl, and Rhyperior that can deal with common Flying-types such as Swellow are useful. Since much of Galvantula's utility stems from its access to Sticky Web, Taunt users and spinblockers such as Comfey, Mismagius, and Jellicent are helpful to keep Sticky Web on the field. Competitive Milotic can also deter Defog. Hoopa is one of the best partners for Galvantula, as its Ghost typing allows it to effectively spinblock, and it also greatly benefits from Sticky Web thanks to its lackluster Speed and amazing Special Attack stat.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Focus Sash can be used for nearly guaranteed Sticky Web, but it comes at the cost of a huge loss in power. Energy Ball or Giga Drain can be used over Hidden Power Ice to hit Ground-types, most notably Rhyperior, but it leaves Galvantula weak to Gligar, a popular Defogger. Volt Switch can be used for momentum over Thunder or Hidden Power Ice, but it means losing either a high-powered STAB move or a valuable coverage option.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Type Advantage**: Pokemon such as Rotom-H, Dragalge, and Nidoqueen resist or are immune to most of Galvantula's attacks and can threaten it out with their powerful attacks. Rotom-H also has an immunity to Sticky Web thanks to its Levitate ability. Kommo-o's Soundproof ability allows it to switch into a predicted Bug Buzz, but its mediocre Speed makes it even more hampered by Sticky Web.

**Bulky Offensive Pokemon**: Offensive Pokemon with a good Special Defense stat such as Gardevoir and Venusaur are able to tank Galvantula's attacks and retaliate hard.

**Magic Bounce Users**: Espeon and Xatu can make Galvantula think twice about setting up Sticky Web due to their ability to bounce it back. However, they also must be wary of switching into a potential Bug Buzz or Thunder.

**Fast Taunt Users**: Pokemon with Taunt that are faster than Galvantula such as Froslass, Aerodactyl, and Salazzle create mind games with Galvantula, since they risk taking huge damage from Galvantula's STAB moves, but at the same time, Galvantula risks being afflicted with Taunt, disallowing it to get up Sticky Web.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Registeel, Diancie, Snorlax, Florges, and most other specially defensive walls can tank Galvantula's attacks and wall it completely.

[Sticky Web]

- In Team Options, stress that Hoopa is one of the best offensive Ghost-types and biggest beneficiaries of Sticky Web in the whole tier. Double win
- Note that Doublade is pretty shaky as a Swellow check due to Heat Wave and only average Special Defense
- I'd like to see Zoroark mentioned somewhere. In particular, it can be used to fake out opposing Espeon by disguising itself as Galvantula turn 1 to make it easier to set Sticky Web later. It also benefits from Scarf Heracross being slowed by Sticky Web, so it's even better.

[Other Options]

- Note that Energy Ball / Giga Drain hits Rhyperior super hard, a relatively common check to Galvantula thanks to its typing and Solid Rock.

[Checks and Counters]

- Where is Rotom-H? It literally doesn't care about anything Galvantula commonly runs. Levitate gives it a pass on Sticky Web and it resists every common offensive option Galvantula uses. Should be mentioned with Nidoqueen or even above it.
- Kommo-o is another threatening Dragon-type and could even have Soundproof to get a free switch on Bug Buzz. It is hampered more by Sticky Web though.
- Although they obviously don't take Galvantula's STAB moves very well at all (they get OHKOed LOL) it should be noted that Espeon, and Xatu to a lesser extent, at least make Galvantula think a little bit about trying to get Sticky Web up. Espeon outspeeds Galvantula naturally and can take one Thunder upon switch in if it guesses wrong, but obviously drops immediately to Bug Buzz.
- Offensive Pokemon with above average special bulk and a neutrality to Galvantula's STAB moves can also check it. Stuff like Gardevoir, Roserade, and Venusaur
- Faster Pokemon with Taunt create a 50 / 50 for Galvantula in potential lead matchups. Salazzle, Froslass, and Aerodactyl can't take a Thunder at all, but if they win the 50 / 50 with Taunt, they can either OHKO Galvantula next turn (Salazzle and Aerodactyl) or easily get entry hazards up (Froslass) while preventing Sticky Web

Should all this be done, consider this QC Approved 2/3

Banned deucer.
in the overview, mention how being frail and lacking longevity makes it difficult for it to come in and set up webs and keep them on the field. hazard removers will usually outlast it because of that. also mention that because galvantula is a decent offensive threat on its own, that teams using it don't necessarily have to dedicate themselves to being sticky web teams, which is what gives it the edge over other sticky web setters.

i don't think any one pokemon should have its own section in c&c, so just combine them all into a comprehensive section. rotom-h, queen, dragalge, kommo-o, can be put together.

It is also beaten by some entry hazard removers, (RC) which that can outlast it (seems somewhat contradictory with the first sentence. maybe add some examples here as well?).

It is best to pair Galvantula with slow, hard hitters that can take advantage of Sticky Web like Nidoqueen and Honchkrow. Sticky Web allows these wallbreakers and sweepers to become more threatening, as one of their biggest flaws, their Speed, is mitigated (I find mitigated a weird word to use; their Speed stays the same, it's just that their foes now also have bad Speed. Maybe use something else?). Zoroark's Illusion ability can also be used to disguise Zoroark as Galvantula to bait in Magic Bounce users such as Espeon and eliminate them, (AC) to make making it easier to set up Sticky Web later on (repetition of 'to' and a long sentence with no breaks). Because Flying-types and Levitate users are immune to Sticky Web, Pokemon that can deal with common Flying-types such as Swellow, like Doublade, Aerodactyl, and Rhyperior, are useful. However, Doublade's average Special Defense stat keeps it from switching in, especially as Swellow has access to Heat Wave.
