Overview
########
Galvantula is an interesting Pokemon. It has a unique Bug / Electric typing, can abuse a 91% accurate Thunder with its ability Compound Eyes, and is the fastest Sticky Web user in the entire game. It also possesses a decent base 97 Special Attack, as well as two great STAB moves in the form of Bug Buzz and Thunder. It also hits all Defoggers and Magic Bouncers for super effective damage, which makes it very hard to remove Sticky Web. However, it is not without its flaws. It is very frail, with bad 70/60/60 defenses, and faces competition from Shuckle, which also has access to Sticky Web as well as Stealth Rock and Sturdy, meaning it can pretty much guarantee an entry hazard set up. Nevertheless, Galvantula stands out as an offensive Sticky Web setter.

Lead

name: Lead
move 1: Sticky Web
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Bug Buzz
move 4: Thunder Wave / Energy Ball / Volt Switch
ability: Compound Eyes
item: Focus Sash
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

Sticky Web provides the amazing utility of slowing down grounded opponents that switch in, and it is the most important move on the set. Thunder is a powerful STAB that has 91% accuracy with Compound Eyes as well as a 30% paralysis chance. Bug Buzz is a secondary STAB move that hits most targets which resist Thunder. Thunder Wave is a good option to use in the fourth slot as it can cripple Pokemon immune to Sticky Web or those who are fast enough to ignore the Speed drop, as well as Pokemon that use Speed-boosting moves, such as Cloyster. Energy Ball is also another option that hits Swampert and Ground-types in general super effectively. Volt Switch can also be used to do some damage and pivot out.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs with a Timid nature maximizes Galvantula's Speed, allowing it to almost always outspeed opposing leads. 252 Special Attack EVs are used to allow Galvantula to hit hard with STAB Thunder and Bug Buzz. The 4 Special Defense EVs give Porygon2 and Porygon-Z an Attack boost from Download. A Focus Sash is necessary to guarantee setting up Sticky Web. Compound Eyes is needed to boost Galvantula's Thunder accuracy to 91%.

Usage Tips
========

Unless Galvantula is facing a Prankster Taunt user, or if it can OHKO the opposing lead, Sticky Web is always the best move to be used first. Thunder, Bug Buzz, and (if applicable) Energy Ball should all be used to cause damage after Sticky Web has been set up. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple opposing threats, while Volt Switch should be used to build momentum and pivot out.

Team Options
========

Pokemon with relatively average Speed such as Heracross or Kyurem can opt to not run a Choice Scarf and benefit from Sticky Web's Speed drop on the opposing team. The best Pokemon to benefit from this are Nidoking, Choice Band Flygon, Honchkrow, and non-Choice Scarf Hydreigon. Ghost-types are also great teammates as they can block Rapid Spin.

Other Options
########

Galvantula doesn't have an expansive movepool. Choice Specs is an option as it can hit very hard with STAB Thunder and Bug Buzz, and it can still set up Sticky Web and switch out afterwards. Hidden Power Fire or Hidden Power Ice are also viable options for more coverage, but they are relatively weak. Life Orb can be used to switch moves and still have increased power, but Galvantula relies on Focus Sash to set up Sticky Web. Giga Drain can be used instead of Energy Ball, but without STAB it won't do enough damage to OHKO Swampert. Lastly, Sucker Punch can be used for a form of priority.

Checks & Counters
########

**Taunt** Prankster Taunt users, such as Whimsicott and Sableye, shut down Galvantula's only niche. Azelf also naturally outspeeds with Taunt, but hates taking a Bug Buzz.

**Entry Hazard Removal** If Galvantula isn't switched in, Defoggers such as Mew and Aerodactyl basically make it dead weight on a team, so they are a huge threat to it.

**Choice Scarf Users** Choice Scarf Darmanitan or Flygon can 2HKO Galvantula quickly. Most Choice Scarf users can also threaten with a STAB move, as Galvantula is very frail.

**Multi-hit moves** Multi-hit moves from Pokemon such as Cloyster can potentially OHKO Galvantula after it sets up Sticky Web, which prevents it from attacking after setting up the entry hazard.

not QC but anyway some more nitpicks
  • Wouldn't 4 Def give porygon the SpA boost?
  • there are taunt users that naturally outspeed such as Azelf
  • scarfers don't have to have super effective attacks as galv is pretty frail
  • add spin blockers to team options

I thought 4 Def would give it the Attack boost right?

Otherwise, I'll get crackin'

defog should be mentioned somewhere in c&c or the overview since it basically makes galvantula dead weight
- Spinblockers are loved, as there are no Defog users in UU and Rapid Spin is the only way to get rid of Sticky Web.
mew empoleon crobat flygon aerodactyl

Mention that it faces competition from shuckle, a far more reliable sticky web setter that also has SR.
Slash Thunder Wave after Volt Switch
[as there are no Defog users in UU]
Crobat? Flygon? Aerodactyl?
Mention competitive Milotic which can pseudo-block defog, and benifits from sticky web being in play.

-Mention that a big thing Galvantula has as a Sticky Webber is that it hits pretty much every single Defogger for Super Effective damage so defogging vs Galvantula isn't necessarily a safe option

-I think slashing Energy Ball on the set wouldn't be a bad idea, the problem with that final slot is that you're just adding more moves to the list that can't hit Ground-types. It's like hmm should i go with Volt Switch which is stopped by Ground Types or Thunder Wave, which is also stopped by Ground Types. Personally i'd slash Thunder Wave/Energy Ball/Volt Switch since Thunder is already all you're going to need and I don't see Galvantula living enough turns to really make good use of Volt Switch but deterring Swampert from leading vs you is always a nice thing (potentially killing it seeing as a lot of people don't expect Energy Ball).

- Also Thunder Wave is the first slash just in the case of Scarfers that try to lead vs you and 2HKO right off the bat in which case you can Thunder Wave them and get up Webs, essentially doing two things with Galv as opposed to just standard.sticky web set up

-Don't say 'almost 100% accurate Thunder', be honest with the people and tell them what the true accuracy is, Compound Eyes boosts Thunder significantly enough that it can justify how good that ability is that you shouldn't need to say 'almost 100%' to make it seem better

-Also a big up for Galv is it's ability to hit all the Magic Bouncers for SE damage too, so basically, Galvantula's typing is perfectly suited for the UU metagame to get up Sticky Web and stop things getting rid of it at the risk of being severely damaged or potentially OHKO'ed by one of it's STAB options. This is really important to harp on because other SW and Hazard setters like Shuckle who have been mentioned as more reliable at getting Webs up really fall over in stopping spinners/defoggers getting rid of it. Something Galvantula actually excels in when you look more closely at the spinning/defogging members of UnderUsed :]

-Increase the size of team options, be more specific with what teams that wanna benefit from sticky web should do, whether this be run power boosting natures/power boosting items on pokemon that would normally be Scarf or running Hyper Offense or running lesser known threats that fall down because of their speed, the biggest and most obvious example being Exploud. Sticky Web allows lesser known mons to excel which is the reason it should be used since the best way to beat standard is to use stuff that standard isn't prepared for.

-I don't know if Competitive Milotic should be mentioned because 1) Milotic is hardly a check/counter to Galvantula cause it's still getting up webs which is basically the goal of the set, C&C is meant to be about mons that stop Galvantula doing it's job, which is #1 Getting up Sticky Web, Milotic doesn't stop that in the slightest (unless Magic Coat which is even less used than Milotic to begin with so i digress) hence my reasoning for why it should be removed.

Sorry if this is a lot of stuff, I just want to make sure these analyses are thorough, so once you have implemented these changes just lemme know and i can come back and add to it or give you your first QC stamp, nice work :]

Adding on to that,

252 SpA Galvantula Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 352-416 (87.1 - 102.9%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

So you would need a Life Orb to guarantee the KO.

Just say 91% accurate Thunder.

I would make a note about the opponent possibly leading with a Spinner and using Rapid Spin which breaks the Sash and keeps SW away until Galvantula switches or baits them to kill it (now without a Sash so it's prone to revenge killing) in usage tips. It's rare but in that situation you're practically 6-5.

Mention Tornadus in CC. It can live a Thunder, Taunt you, U-turn breaking your Sash and is always faster.

What Spinner does that though? Donphan gets Two hit by Energy Ball, Blastoise gets two hit by Thunder, same with Starmie, Tenta, Cloyster?, Forre. There isn't a single viable spinner in the tier that isn't Outsped and 2HKO'ed or straight OHKO'ed by Galvantula which is what i'm saying is it's huge benefit as a Sticky Web User.

**Taunt** Prankster Taunt shuts down one of Galvantula's only niche. Azelf also naturally outspeeds with Taunt, thus making it a counter.

252 SpA Galvantula Thunder vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus: 356-420 (118.6 - 140%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I have no clue what the fuck Tornadus you're running but the one i'm looking at sure isn't enjoying taking a Thunder.

I mean if you're slower you can break the Sash then die and revenge kill it. I just mean to mention Tornadus specificly can break the Sash and U-turn without being outsped. Also I just have no idea why I thought it could take a Thunder

Edit: I'm stupid because it's too early to be doing this and I left it at 0 when I did the calc

A slight nitpick
In the overview, it is written that it hits every defogger for SE damage, but Skunktank is not hit super effectively.

Competitive milotic should be mentioned in team options. Now, you would say that it already defeats defoggers, but galvantula is gonna be used as a suicide lead and once it dies, the opponent can defog freely. Milotic would at least deter them from using it upto some extent.

Also, in C&C you should mention that it is not galvantula whose checks you have to employ. It is the support that it provides with sticky web, which needs to be countered.

Skuntank is not a relevant defogger in the UU metagame so there's no point in mentioning it. If it really bugs you it can be changed to all UU defoggers

but it is getting an analysis. so, i thought that it is somewhat relevant. Not, that i am a big fan of it. :(

QC ready s_aman I didn't add those points because Skuntank is not relevant and Milotic was already removed. Also I didn't understand the last one a whole bunch either

Overview
########

+ Fastest Sticky Web user in the game
+ Can hit any defogger or magic bouncer for super effective damage with the exception of Skuntank Really? Remove lol
+ Can use 91% accurate STAB Thunders with Compound Eyes
+ Two Great STAB moves
- 97 for Special Attack is good, but not amazing
- Is very frail defensively
- Faces competition from Shuckle, who can set up Stealth Rocks up as well Say that Shuckle can set it up more reliably, but Galvantula can launch powerful attacks after setting up Sticky Web, giving it a niche as the only viable offensive user of the hazard

Lead
########
name: Lead
move 1: Sticky Web
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Bug Buzz
move 4: Thunder Wave / Energy Ball / Volt Switch
ability: Compound Eyes
item: Focus Sash
evs: 4 SpD / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

- Sticky Web provides the utility of slowing down opponents that switch in
- Thunder is a powerful STAB that has 91% accuracy with Compound Eyes
- Bug Buzz is a good STAB move
- Thunder Wave can cripple scarfers that lead
- Energy Ball can hit Ground-types and has a decent base power
- Volt Switch can also be used to do some damage and pivot out

Set Details
========

- 252 Speed EVs with Timid nature maximizes Galvantula's Speed, allowing it to almost always outspeed
- 252 Special Attack EVs allow Galvantula to hit as hard as it can with STAB Thunder and Bug Buzz
- 4 SpD EVs give Porygon-Z the wrong Download boost
- A Focus Sash allows Galvantula to take a hit from lead scarfers and always set up Sticky Web
Give its ability a brief mention even though it's obvious

Usage Tips
========

- Unless you're facing a Prankster Taunt user, Sticky Web should always be the first move used
- Thunder and Bug Buzz should be used after to cause damage
- Volt Switch should be used to pivot out into any Pokemon that can resist or is immune to the predicted move

Team Options
========

- Average speed Pokemon such as Heracross or Kyruem can opt to not run a Scarf and benefit from the Sticky Web Speed drop on the opposing team. The best Pokemon to benefit from this are Nidoking, CB Flygon, Honchkrow, and non-Scarf Hydreigon
- Spinblockers are loved, as Rapid Spin certainly is a threat to Galvantula.

Other Options
########

- Galvantula can run a Choice Specs set that still has Sticky Web, so it can use Sticky Web, and immediately switch out
- Hidden Power Fire or Hidden Power Ice can be used instead of Volt Switch for more coverage
- Life Orb can be used to boost the damage of Thunder, but Galvantula may want to stick to a sash.
- Giga Drain or Energy Ball can also be looked at instead of Volt Switch for more coverage as well, but without STAB it can't be seen doing much damage.

Checks & Counters
########

**Taunt** Prankster Taunt (from who?) shuts down one of Galvantula's only niche. Azelf (and Aerodactyl) also naturally outspeeds with Taunt, thus making it a counter.

**Defog** If Galvantula isn't switched in, Defoggers such as Mew and Aerodactyl basically make Galvantula dead weight on a team, so they are a huge threat to Galvantula No love for spinners? I would change it to **Hazard Removal** and mention Defog users and spinners, and give examples of each

**Scarfers** Scarf Darmanitan or Scarf Flygon can 2HKO Galvantula quickly. Most Scarfers can also threaten with a STAB move, as Galvantula is very frail.

**Multi-hitting moves** Multi-hitting moves break the sash and can potentially OHKO Galvantula after it sets up Sticky Web, which stops it from being able to attack after setting up Sticky Web
Some stuff to change, see quote for details. Overall really good job on this, The Shellder Smuggler!

Also mention Defiant/Competitive Pokemon in Team Options to take advantage of Defog users and mention Zapdos as an example of a Defog user in C&C
