[OVERVIEW]

Flying
========

* Gyarados's access to Dragon Dance allows it to be a potent setup sweeper, especially with its high Attack stat.
* Gyarados's Water typing is helpful versus Rock and Ice matchups that are usually problematic for Flying.
* A great ability in Moxie boosts Gyarados's sweeping potential by boosting its Attack every time it gets a KO.
* Gyarados also has solid bulk, allowing it to set up more easily.
* While Bounce is a decent STAB move, its charging turn prompts Gyarados to use a Flyinium Z to break past bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur.
* While Gyarados's Water typing can be useful in some situations, it also stacks an even bigger Electric weakness to Flying teams.
* A mediocre Speed stat means Gyarados cannot outspeed some Pokemon even after a boost, such as Mega Alakazam. Gyarados can also lose to many common Choice Scarf users such as Nihilego and Xurkitree.
* However, base 81 Speed puts it at a unique Speed tier, allowing it to barely outspeed base 80 Speed Pokemon such as Dragonite.
* Gyarados can be outclassed in some situations by other Z-Move users such as Salamence and Landorus-T.

Moves
========

* Dragon Dance boosts both Gyarados's Attack and Speed, powering up its physical attacks while letting it outspeed quite a few Pokemon including Mega Beedrill and Choice Scarf Chandelure.
* Waterfall is Gyarados's primary STAB move and can be used to hit Rock-type Pokemon that Flying struggles against.
* Bounce is Gyarados's Flying-type STAB move, but it has a charge turn that can be exploited by opponents who can then switch out into a Pokemon that resists it. Bounce also has a nifty 30% chance to paralyze the foe.
* When Bounce is used with a Flyinium Z, it turns into a powerful 160-Base Power Supersonic Skystrike, which can be used to KO a bulky foe like Toxapex. However, it is a one-time move, so it should be used only when needed.
* Substitute can be used against bulky Pokemon that cannot break Gyarados's substitute easily, such as Toxapex, and it also shields Gyarados from status such as Toxic or burns from Scald, allowing Gyarados to set up easily.
* Taunt can be used to shut down support and bulky Pokemon such as Celesteela, giving Gyarados ample opportunities to set up with Dragon Dance. It can also be used to prevent status from moves such as Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp, which Gyarados greatly dislikes.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximize Gyarados's sweeping potential.
* A Jolly nature ensures that Gyarados outspeeds Tapu Koko, Choice Scarf Togekiss, and Mega Beedrill after a Dragon Dance.
* Flyinium Z turns Bounce into a powerful Supersonic Skystrike that can be used to KO Gyarados's would-be checks after a Dragon Dance.
* Moxie boosts Gyarados's Attack every time it gets a KO, effectively snowballing into a sweep once Gyarados can set up.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Dragon Dance to set up against Ground-, Fighting-, Bug-, and Fire-type Pokemon that Gyarados threatens, such as Gliscor, Keldeo, and Volcarona. This can give Gyarados free opportunities to set up as they switch out.
* Avoid switching Gyarados into attacks, as it can wear down Gyarados and make it unable to set up properly.
* Similarly, attempt to remove Stealth Rock before Gyarados enters the battlefield.
* After a Dragon Dance or two, use Supersonic Skystrike to KO Pokemon that would otherwise wall Gyarados, such as Toxapex.
* Avoid letting Gyarados get statused, as burns and paralysis halve Gyarados's offensive stats, while Toxic poison can rack up, making Gyarados much easier to revenge kill.
* Don't waste Supersonic Skystrike unnecessarily, especially if it is needed to break past a certain Pokemon like Porygon2.
* However, Supersonic Skystrike can also be used as the first move to semi-guarantee a Moxie boost.
* Against support Pokemon or walls such as Celesteela and Jirachi, use Substitute to block incoming status moves and start setting up with Dragon Dance.
* If running Taunt, use it to shut down bulkier and support Pokemon such as Clefable, giving Gyarados free opportunities to set up, either by forcing them to switch out or by taking little damage from their attacks.
* It is helpful to eliminate Gyarados's checks, including bulky Water-types, Electric-types, and Protect users such as Toxapex, Magnezone, and Ferrothorn before bringing it in, as they can usually stop a sweep and force Gyarados out. It is better to set up with Gyarados late-game, especially as it usually only has one chance to sweep because of Flyinium Z's one-time use.
* Sometimes, use Dragon Dance at least two times to avoid being revenge killed by fast Choice Scarf users such as Nihilego.
* It is usually better to set up with Gyarados late-game after its checks have been worn down, especially as it usually only has one chance to sweep because of Supersonic Skystrike.

Team Options
========

* Gyarados is useful on Flying teams due to its ability to check Rock and Ice teams, which Flying teams generally appreciate.
* As a result, Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Dragonite can be used more effectively due to Gyarados dealing with their checks such as Diancie and Weavile.
* Additionally, Mega Charizard Y is a powerful special attacker that can deal with physical walls that Gyarados struggles with, such as Rotom-W and Skarmory.
* Defoggers such as Mantine and Skarmory remove entry hazards, which Gyarados dislikes, especially as it takes 25% each time it switches in, although Mantine shares its typing with Gyarados, which makes for a defensive redundancy. Skarmory can also set up Stealth Rock, aiding Gyarados's sweeping potential.
* Zapdos can easily take most Electric-type attacks for Gyarados, can Defog away entry hazards, and can bring Gyarados in safely with Volt Switch.
* Landorus provides an Electric immunity for Gyarados and can deal large damage to most Electric-type Pokemon along with Toxapex. It is also a special wallbreaker that is able to deal with most physical walls that give Gyarados trouble, and it can set up Stealth Rock on top of that.
* Landorus-T provides another Electric immunity, takes care of Electric-type Pokemon, can set up Stealth Rock, and has Intimidate,(AC) which can help Gyarados set up against physical threats. It can also bring Gyarados in safely with U-turn.
* Gliscor can work as an effective stallbreaker, wearing down Pokemon to ease Gyarados's sweep. It also provides another Electric immunity while being able to spread Toxic to aid Gyarados's setup. Gliscor's utility set can also set up Stealth Rock, making it easier for Gyarados to sweep.
* Aerodactyl can set up Stealth Rock instead of Landorus or Skarmory, allowing them to run either a different attack in Landorus's case or Spikes in Skarmory's case.
* Defensive Pokemon such as Celesteela can sponge hits for Gyarados while wearing down foes with their support moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Flying
--------
* Earthquake can hit pesky Electric-, Poison-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, Toxapex, and Magearna, the second of which can otherwise wall Gyarados. However, the utility of Taunt and Substitute is generally more useful.
* An Adamant nature can be used for more damage, but it sacrifices essential Speed that allows Gyarados to be outsped by Tapu Koko, Choice Scarf Buzzwole, and Choice Scarf Togekiss.
* Intimidate is an alternative to Moxie that allows Gyarados to more easily set up against physical attackers like Landorus-T and Mimikyu, but it limits Gyarados's sweeping capabilities by replacing Moxie.

Checks and Counters
===================

Flying
--------
**Rotom-W**: Rotom-W resists all of Gyarados's attacks and is immune to Earthquake should Gyarados decide to use it, and it can hit Gyarados with a 4x super effective Volt Switch.

**Electric-types**: Gyarados sports a 4x weakness to Electric-type attacks, and it almost always OHKOed by them. Electric-type Pokemon also often have high Speed and good offensive stats, meaning Gyarados is usually outsped by common threats such as Alolan Raichu under Electric Terrain even after a Dragon Dance or two. They also resist Supersonic Skystrike, and Gyarados often lacks the power to KO these Pokemon as a result.

**Fast Choice Scarf users**: Pokemon such as Nihilego and Xurkitree can outspeed Gyarados after one Dragon Dance if holding a Choice Scarf and can OHKO Gyarados with their super effective STAB moves.

**Status**: Gyarados greatly dislikes status, as most status conditions can easily cripple it. Toxic wears Gyarados down extremely fast, making it more liable to a revenge kill, while paralysis and burn cripple Gyarados's offensive stats.

**Physical Walls**: Gyarados has a hard time breaking through physical walls such as Toxapex and Skarmory, especially as they both can eliminate Gyarados's stat boosts. However, Gyarados can shut them down with Taunt, disallowing them to phaze it out while it sets up.

**Stealth Rock**: Gyarados takes a hefty 25% of its health each time it switches into Stealth Rock, making it much easier to KO, especially as Gyarados lacks reliable recovery.

**Protect Users**: Protect users like Ferrothorn and Baneful Bunker Toxapex can easily wall Gyarados after it has used up Supersonic Skystrike, as they take little damage from Waterfall and will never take damage from Bounce. Gyarados should also be careful when using Supersonic Skystrike on these Pokemon because Protect can weaken it severely.

Overview:
- The first line should be more about what Gyarados's impact is. Yes, the Water typing is helpful for those matchups, but I think the Dragon Dance sweeping line should actually be first and then that typing line after.
- Don't mention Mega Gyarados being unusable. That's not something needed here.
- Dragonite's really not a Flyinium Z user in Monotype. More relevant is Salamence and Dragonite, although I personally dislike Flyinium on them.
- Bounce isn't a terrible STAB move, so I wouldn't really say that it's "forced" to use Flyinium Z. It is useful, though.
- At +1, Gyarados hits 430 Speed, so it does outspeed Tapu Koko (and Jolteon but Jolteon isn't even viable). You could use Mega Alakazam or Mega Aerodactyl as an example if you want.

Moves:
- Waterfall isn't super effective against Ice-types, so I'm not sure why you mentioned that. Bounce is technically stronger than it because it's 85 BP.
- Regarding Supersonic Skystrike, Mega Venusaur doesn't wall Gyarados if it doesn't have it:
+1 252 Atk Gyarados Bounce vs. 232 HP / 180+ Def Venusaur-Mega: 270-318 (75.2 - 88.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Set Details:
- Timid Tapu Koko is still 394 Speed, which is slower than Gyarados at +1 as I mentioned before. Also, no one uses Modest Xurkitree, so there's no reason to mention it. Choice Scarf Togekiss is a better example for you to use.
- Alomomola really isn't that good of an example to be honest because Alomomola is only ever used on stall, and stall has Quagsire and Toxapex, both of which completely wall Gyarados.

Usage Tips:
- Landorus often uses Rock Slide, so I wouldn't use that as an example of a Ground-type that Gyarados threatens and can set up on. Gyarados is OHKOed by Rock Slide after Stealth Rock damage, so it's really not that good of an idea.
- I wouldn't say that Chansey walls Gyarados:
+2 252 Atk Gyarados Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 337-397 (47.8 - 56.3%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO
- You mention Earthquake but Earthquake isn't on the set or in Moves, so you should probably rework that.
- Regarding the Toxapex example, if you're running Substitute, you don't have Taunt, which means Toxapex can Haze Gyarados forever. That's not the best example.
- Definitely talk about the issue with Bounce being a two-turn move. The issue is that Protect users literally can never be damaged by it. For example, Ferrothorn completely walls Gyarados and there's really nothing you can do about that if you've already used Supersonic Skystrike. Similarly, Toxapex can Baneful Bunker as well.
- Say something about setting up late-game after checks have been taken out. Gyarados kind of only has one shot at sweeping, so it should save that one shot for later.

Team Options:
- Mantine is more of a Defogger than Zapdos. You should mention the defensive redundancy, though.
- Zapdos often uses a SubToxic stallbreaker set. You should actually mention this set here because it breaks threats to Gyarados like Porygon2 and Ferrothorn (Ferrothorn gets PP stalled, obviously Toxic doesn't do much to it).
- Should mention that Landorus is a special wallbreaker that can break most of the physical walls that Gyarados has trouble with. You should specifically mention Toxapex and Ferrothorn as threats that it cannot touch.
- Utility Gliscor is probably more common than stallbreaker this generation, so you should probably mention that it can set Stealth Rock for Gyarados, add it to that list.
- Speaking of that list, Mega Aerodactyl -> Aerodactyl. Mega Aerodactyl doesn't really set Stealth Rock.
- Togekiss is really a Choice Scarf user this gen, the utility set sucks.

Other Options:
- RestTalk is bad now in my opinion, so let's remove that.

Checks and Counters:
- Regarding Toxapex and Skarmory, neither are actually threatened by Supersonic Skystrike, so that's not right. However, they are both very weak to Taunt variants, as those can set up on them for free.
- You should add Protect users here too. At the bottom.

[OVERVIEW]

* Gyarados can be outclassed in some situations by other Flyinium Z Z-move users, such as Salamence.
- Mention Intimidate in the bullet with Moxie too.
- Talk about its movepool. Waterfall as STAB, Dragon Dance, Substitute, Taunt etc.

Usage Tips

* Sometimes, use Dragon Dance at least two or three times to avoid being revenge killed by fast Choice Scarf users such as Nihilego.
- Only if necessary. Pointlessly setting up extra Dragon Dances can cause Gyarados to get worn down unecessarily and let it get picked off by a priority move much more easily.
* It is helpful to eliminate Gyarados's checks such as Toxapex and Magnezone before bringing it in, as they can usually stop a sweep and force Gyarados out; however, Gyarados can usually deal with these Pokemon if it is running Earthquake. Similarly, Pokemon which utilize Protect, such as Ferrothorn, should be taken out, as they can easily take advantage of Bounce's charge turn once Flyinium Z has been used up.
- Earthquake isn't in the set, don't mention it.
* It is usually better to set up with Gyarados late-game after its checks have been worn down, especially as it usually only has one chance to sweep because of Supersonic Skystrike.
- Very similar to the bullet above, merge them.

Team Options

* Aerodactyl and Skarmory can set entry hazards, weakening Gyarados's checks and making it easier for it to sweep.
- Remove this bullet. Mention Stealth Rock seperately in the Skarmory and Landorus bullets. Make a seperate bullet for Aerodactyl too.

Other Options

* Earthquake can hit pesky Electric-, Poison-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu and Toxapex, the latter of which can otherwise wall Gyarados. However, the utility of Taunt or Substitute is generally more useful.
- Give an example of a Steel-type too and arrange the types you listed in the same order as the examples.
- Intimidate.
- Adamant.

Checks and Counters

**Electric-types**: Gyarados sports a 4x weakness to Electric-type attacks, and it almost always OHKOed by them. Electric-type Pokemon also often have high Speed and good offensive stats, meaning Gyarados is usually outsped by common threats such as Tapu Koko and Alolan Raichu under Electric Terrain, even after a Dragon Dance or two respectively. They also resist Supersonic Skystrike, and Gyarados often lacks the power to KO these Pokemon as a result.
- Gyarados outspeeds Tapu Koko after a Dragon Dance.

* Access to Dragon Dance allows Gyarados to be a potent sweeper here I would specify what kind of sweeper? set up sweeper?, especially with its high Attack stat.
* Gyarados's Water typing is helpful versus Rock and Ice matchups which are usually problematic for Flying.
* A great ability in Moxie boosts Gyarados's sweeping potential by boosting its Attack every time it gets a KO.
* Gyarados also has solid 95 / 79 / 100 bulk, allowing it to set up more easily. I wouldn't mention numbers here because simply the person can see them just say it has good bulk

Moves
========

* Dragon Dance boosts both Gyarados's Attack and Speed, powering up its physical attacks while letting it outspeed quite a few Pokemon this is very vague what notable Pokemon does Gyara outspeed with Dragon Dance.
* Waterfall is Gyarados's primary STAB move, and can be used to hit Rock-type Pokemon that Flying struggles against. It is also Gyarados's most reliable move, and is generally quite spammable. I feel like second part is kinda in the first part of waterfall section
* Bounce is Gyarados's Flying-type STAB move, but has a charge turn that can be exploited by opponents, who can then switch out into a Pokemon that resists it. Bounce also has a nifty 30% chance to paralyze the foe, which can be helpful for setting up with Dragon Dance while also guaranteeing Gyarados outspeeds. This is very confusing it seems like a usage tip is trying to be sprinkled into here
* When Bounce is used with a Flyinium Z, it turns into a powerful 160 Base Power Supersonic Skystrike, which can be used to KO a bulky foe. However, it is a one-time move, so it should be used only when needed. It is especially useful versus bulky walls like Mega Venusaur and Toxapex. Similar situation as above
* Substitute can be used against bulky Pokemon that cannot break Gyarados's substitute easily, such as Toxapex. It also shields Gyarados from status, such as from Scald or Toxic, allowing Gyarados to set up easily. This seems like these two sentences can be merged

Set Details
========

* Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximizes Gyarados's sweeping potential.
* A Jolly nature ensures that Gyarados outspeeds Tapu Koko, Choice Scarf Togekiss, Mega Beedrill, and more after a Dragon Dance. and more is fluff
* Flyinium Z turns Bounce into a powerful Supersonic Skystrike that can be used to KO Gyarados's would-be checks after Dragon Dance.
* Moxie is a great ability this is fluff saying it's a great ability just talk about why moxie is good don't tell me it's good that boosts Gyarados's Attack every time it gets a KO, effectively snowballing into a sweep once Gyarados can set up.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Dragon Dance to set up against Ground-, Fighting-, Bug-, or Fire-type Pokemon that Gyarados threatens, such as Keldeo and Volcarona there is no Ground-type example here.
* Avoid letting Gyarados get statused, as burns and paralysis halve Gyarados's offensive stats while Toxic poison can rack up, making Gyarados much easier to revenge kill.
* Don't waste Supersonic Skystrike unnecessarily, especially if it is needed to break past a certain Pokemon. what Pokemon is Fly Z needed to break? an example?
* However, Supersonic Skystrike can also be used as the first move to semi-guarantee a Moxie boost.
* Against support Pokemon or walls such as Celesteela, use Substitute to block incoming status moves and start setting up with Dragon Dance. I would add another status Pokemon because Leech Seed isn't the biggest problem with it comes to status maybe a Jirachi would work here
* If running Taunt, use it to shut down bulkier or support Pokemon such as Clefable, giving Gyarados free opportunities to set up, either by forcing them to switch out or by taking little damage from their attacks.
* It is helpful to eliminate Gyarados's checks such as Toxapex and Magnezone before bringing it in, as they can usually stop a sweep and force Gyarados out. It is better to set up with Gyarados late-game, especially as it usually only has one chance to sweep because of Flyinium Z's one-time use. Pokemon which utilize Protect, such as Ferrothorn, should be taken out, as they can easily take advantage of Bounce's charge turn once Flyinium Z has been used up. why should Pokemon with Protect should be taken out? I know Terrors told you to merge them but this isn't what he meant. He was trying to tell you to take most important information and try to put it into one sentence or at max 2 sentences no just copy and paste it on same bullet
* Sometimes, use Dragon Dance at least two or three times to avoid being revenge killed by fast Choice Scarf users such as Nihilego. I would not say three times because example only needs 2 Dragon Dances
* It is usually better to set up with Gyarados late-game after its checks have been worn down, especially as it usually only has one chance to sweep because of Supersonic Skystrike.

Team Options
========

* Gyarados is useful on Flying teams due to its ability to check Rock and Ice teams, which Flying teams generally appreciate.
* As a result, Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y and Dragonite can be used more effectively due to Gyarados dealing with their checks. what checks does it deal with specifically?
* Additionally, Mega Charizard Y is a powerful special attacker that can deal with physical walls that Gyarados struggles with, such as Rotom-W and Skarmory.
* Defoggers such as Mantine and Skarmory remove entry hazards, which Gyarados dislikes, especially as it takes 25% each time it switches in, although Mantine is shares its typing with Gyarados, which makes for a defensive redundancy. Skarmory can also set up Stealth Rock, aiding Gyarados's sweeping potential.
*Zapdos should be added because it takes Electric-type attacks and can bring Gyra in safely with Volt Switch
* Landorus and Landorus-T provide a valuable Electric immunity for Gyarados and can soak up Electric-type attacks. They can also deal with Electric-type Pokemon that give Gyarados trouble, while also dealing with Pokemon such as Toxapex. Landorus is also a special wallbreaker that can deal huge damage to most of the physical walls that block Gyarados, such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex, and can set up Stealth Rock on top of that. I would talk about Lando-T and and Lando in seperate bullets because they are different Pokemon in what they do
* Gliscor can work as an effective stallbreaker, wearing down Pokemon to ease Gyarados's sweep. It also provides another Electric immunity, while also being able to spread Toxic poison to aid Gyarados's setup.

Flying
--------
**Rotom-W**: Rotom-W resists all of Gyarados's attacks and is immune to Earthquake should Gyarados decide to use it, and can hit Gyarados with a 4x effective Volt Switch. If Gyarados is not running Taunt, Rotom-W can also use Will-O-Wisp to halve Gyarados's Attack, reducing its damage output greatly. If Gyra is running Sub it can't burn it so this is incorrect

I would also mention how Protect users take reduced damage form Supersonic Skystrike

* If running Taunt, use it to shut down bulkier or and support Pokemon such as Clefable, giving Gyarados free opportunities to set up, either by forcing them to switch out or by taking little damage from their attacks.

========

* Landorus-T provides another Electric immunity, takes care of Electric-type Pokemon, can set up Stealth Rock, and its has Intimidate,(AC) which (parallel sentence structure) can help Gyarados set up against physical threats. It can also bring Gyarados in safely with U-turn.
* Gliscor can work as an effective stallbreaker, wearing down Pokemon to ease Gyarados's sweep. It also provides another Electric immunity,(RC) while also being able to spread Toxic poison to aid Gyarados's setup.

Other Options
=============

Flying
--------
* Earthquake can hit pesky Electric-, Poison-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, Toxapex, and Magearna, the second of which can otherwise wall Gyarados. However, the utility of Taunt or and Substitute is generally more useful.

===================

Flying
--------
**Rotom-W**: Rotom-W resists all of Gyarados's attacks and is immune to Earthquake should Gyarados decide to use it, and it can hit Gyarados with a 4x super effective Volt Switch.

**Fast Choice Scarf users**: Pokemon such as Nihilego and Xurkitree can outspeed Gyarados after one Dragon Dance if holding a Choice Scarf,(RC) and can OHKO Gyarados with their super effective STAB moves.

**Status**: Gyarados greatly dislikes status, as most status conditions can easily cripple it. Toxic poison wears down Gyarados down extremely fast, making it more liable to a revenge kill, while paralysis and burn cripple Gyarados's offensive stats.

Gyarados should also be careful when using Supersonic Skystrike on these Pokemon,(RC) because Protect can weaken it severely.
